That's a known issue as I recall, but I don't remember if there was an update to fix it. Check the comments for the mod.

Hello, How do I downgrade back to a non-beta version of SMAPI and Moddrop?
In Moddrop you can click the down arrow for manage on the right side, and change Smapi version is an option.

The update isn't so that mods are part of the game, but it is so we don't have to worry about OOM issues anymore from modding

I'd recommend just running the unofficial 64 bit patch program, it can download the linux version for you in a way less prone to failing than the steam console

hi! i'm having the ghost bed issue with my save :/ i briefly had the "Bathroom after 2nd Houseupgrade" mod installed but uninstalled it before upgrading, though i still have the ghost bed issue! if it helps here is my mod list β€οΈ
is it still there if you load the save without the CP mods? (renaming the content patcher mod folder to begin with a period (.) would disable them)

if you have a lot of mods - as you probably do, if you've resorted to 64 bit - loading saves can take a long time
also make sure you didn't put SMAPI in select mode, and if it does say select mode, pressing esc or enter will take it out of select mode

Huh so...I'm not sure why I'm getting this error, but for some reason when I go to Downtown Zuzu from the WttD:R highway, I get this error, idk if it's been reported already but I'd like some clarification. This was after I downloaded the newest Downtown Zuzu (The manifest has the wrong version number)

Bre iirc you're on Android, right? You need an older version of SMAPI, and then older versions of mods to work with that version of SMAPI
if the mod was updated on or after Dec 20, 2020 it probably needs newer versions of SMAPI and the game, which you unfortunately can't use on Android

It's not specific to that particular error, it's just the only thing I know to ask when there's an issue related to audio

This right here could be causing issues with Wttd:R
They added a new place that I don't think WttD:R has registered yet and causes it to loop since it expects me at a different map
probably not, they both make the children npcs and that is essentially the same as adding two mods that create the same named npc

The bar on the right is a vanilla couch, you should be able to access it if you have the furniture catalog from Robin. The table on the left is a tree that you have to win from the game machine inside the cinemas. Hope that helps!

I added the NPC map locations mod because after 1000 hours in the game, I still need to look up people's schedules obscenely often

Why does the unmodded beta version of Stardew Valley when downloaded straight off of steam only work when you load a saved game from a non beta version and not the beta version itself?

mods make a massive difference to the game, i can't live without them now
Its up to you how important it is to finish a playthrough without any mods, but i recommend the following just off the top of my head:
-Ridgesige Village, Stardew Valley Expanded, East Scarpe, Stardew Aquarium, Boarding house- these add locations and new NPCs
- Any of the PPJA crop mods
- Raffadax trees
-Gwens medieval recolours - Elles new animal mods ( i.e new barn animals)
-Mi's and Magimatica Country Furniture, Rustic town pack, country walls and floors, industrial kitchen
-Look up anything, ladder locator (if you really wanna cheat π )
-DCBurger portraits
I mean that I cannot start a new world on beta unless I go out of my way in loading a non beta save, then exiting into the main menu to start a new world for then to start a complete new 1.5.5 world save
Why are you playing beta and non beta?
A created a non beta save, then I saw a bunch on mods referring to a beta version, so I though I should switch, that is how I got the non beta save and it stayed when I switched
oh yes ok i see sorry i didnt read your message properly apparently. Currently 1.5.5 the beta version is only for modders, so i wouldnt use it. Lots of mods are not updated to work in 1.5.5.
I dont think beta 1.5.5 will be up and running for everyday gameplay for a while, so i would uninstall it 
By what I see in the update log, it's about every January maybe in 6 month intervals for Stardew to get an update unless there was a mistake which needed immediate attention

Its a pre release currently, i cant imagine it would work too smoothly with mods made for 32bit without the modders updating their mod. Lots of mods are not updated to work with the pre release. I wouldnt play on beta 1.5.5 unless i had no mods, or until the official release.

There's also Zuzu City and Garden Village, but i cant vouch for either
i think its called downtown Zuzu, its in early production last time i checked
garden village is mainly for shops (outdated at that) and zuzu is in beta stage as far as i know

warning, if you install walk to the desert redux, you'll need the previous version of downtown zuzu as the latest version has a temporary incompatibility with walk to the desert
hence why i cant vouch for them 
(some maps changed, it's a simple fix on walk to the desert's end and it'll probably be out soon)

Stardew Aquarium doesnt add NPCs that you can befriend but it is a cool mod and adds a new location too
As for new NPCs, i like Sorren, Denver, Aspen, Mr Ginger, Professor Jasper
You should also check out Ridgeside Village
It adds 20+ new NPCs and a whole new village of content
I also recommend that you check out DCBurger portraits, theyre fantastic \

your antivirus might be eating it, or there might be some other problem
do you have 7zip?
thats probably a no - it's a free software that you download
run the 7zip installer and then when you next double-click a .7z or .rar there'll be a 7zip section in the right click menu
which will include stuff like "extract here"

Hello! I updated my Stardew Valley and after opening it, SMAPI didn't load at all. The console doesn't come up and obviously the mods don't work after the game loads. I thought this was really weird because i hadn't touched anything in my Stardew Valley folder after the update and the update was also automatic. I decided to try update SMAPI and it still won't load. It only loads the console and my mods when I open through the steammoddingapi in the Stardew Valley folder and when I open it like this I can play and it works perfectly. I tried reinstalling Stardew and going to the files through Steam so I know that i'm definitely in the correct folder and when I do the SMAPI install it says it was installed correctly (and in the correct place) so I know i'm not doing that wrong either unless I've missed a small detail in that. It only doesn't load when I open through steam or the desktop shortcut for it.
I'm also 100% sure I didn't download the beta version because I reinstalled the updated SMAPI to make sure I did actually get the correct one

I am having a lot of errors. I've only returned to the game recently, and I wanted to give it a full play through with some of the big overhaul mods. (Like SVE for example)
I started out, still on the 32-bit version of the game, but I was getting so many errors that I figured, well, it's been a few days-- maybe I should upgrade to 64 bit, maybe that's the problem.

I don't know if I'm just having a small brain spell, or some of the mods I want to just aren't working. (I do see the ones that aren't working because I'm on 64 bit, and that's fine-- I just don't understand why others aren't working, as if they didn't download everything required for the mod to work?

Ohh, you're using the 3.13.0 SMAPI beta and trying to use the 1.5.5 beta update, it's definitely not for normal modded players right now afaik
I only switched to that after I was getting said errors.
Which is why I switched to it, because I thought maybe I had to be on both ;-;
If it would help, I can downgrade both again and get that error log too
Instead you should be using 3.12.X SMAPI and 1.5.4 SDV

I came back from a hiatus as well and had a lot of errors, lots of smapi telling me things were in the wrong place or missing manifest.json.
I eventually just deleted all my mods and reinstalled them fresh and that fixed everything.
do you use vortex? if not, can i see a screenshot of your mods folder?
I don't know what vortex is! here's my folder, I opened it a few times to get as much mods in as possible in the case that it mattered, there's some that's missing near the bottom but I don't think any of those are the broken ones.

This is my first time trying to mod Stardew Valley. For reference, I'm using ModDrop. I'm using the beta Stardew Valley 64 bit and I have about 15 mods or so that I want to use including Stardew Valley Expanded. The game runs fine, but it's telling me I need to make certain mods 64 bit mode. Is that an easy solution? Thanks!

that sounds interesting... I have to admit certain lines get a bit shopworn after many, many (many) repetitions. Plus, I know that some dialogue lines are supposed to be "randomly" selected, but I do not believe that true randomness is happening

Hi can anyone help me? I am trying to install/update smapi directly from the site but windows defender is blocking it as it's flagging as Trojan:win32/Zpevdo.B?

Nexus also posed the same issue with the file just being completely deleted whenever I tried to open it from my downloads cause of windows defender

Ok can you check something for me in the SycamoreFarm.tmx file? I have a guess of what could be causing the issue, since you're on Mac.
You may be able to open the tmx file using TextEditor, and once you do can you search for
<data encoding>= and then let me know if it's set to equal "base64" or "csv"?

@dire fractal my smapi takes suuuper long to load. i know you said you've left it on for a long time before, but for reference my last smapi load statements before the game menu/stardew actually pops up and not just the smapi command window is a combination of JsonAssets and Custom Furniture (like this):
i see you have json assets and custom furniture, so it's probably not done loading until you reach these types of statements.
also somewhat trivial but possible is that if you click somewhere on a windows command prompt (or highlight text by accident), it can pause the loading process. to make sure it's not accidentally paused i usually press enter so my cursor moves down/the window refocuses

Custom NPC fixes only loads on the beta branch of SMAPI, which automatically crashes when I attempt to launch it.

you have a mix of different versions of SVE, karmylla's isn't compatible with sve anymore, you seem to have outdated parts of artisan valley. i think you should clear the whole mods folder and reinstall the mods (using the smapi log for example to check what you had)
while it's a lot of work that way you could also check if the mods are not needed for the current game version. like summit exists in the native game now
the smapi log would show me what are all the mods i currently have, correct?

AHA! That's what the issue is. Macs can't deal with base64 and can only work with csv. If you're feeling up to it, you can replace all instances of <data encoding>="base64" with <data encoding>="csv"
I'd also recommend posting on the mod page so the mod author can fix it for compatibility with Mac (and also if any other Mac users decide to fix it for themselves, they know how to do so)

The new SDV update makes the game 64bit, so you won't need the unofficial patch for 64bit
The 64 bit wiki says its out of date
However, the new SDV update isn't out yet
We're at 1.5.4 and that "new" update is 1.5.5
if you're having issues with Out of Memory (OOM) errors, then yes you can use the 64bit patch for 1.5.4

you need to switch from the beta versions of the mods to the non-beta versions
if you're using moddrop, it's been switching mods to using the beta versions automatically even though the beta versions are very much a Dont Install This
the solution is to install the mods manually and not via the mod manager

Probably just ModDrop going "hey, these aren't the default versions" which is a good thing right now since moddrop is being really dumb about the defaults
like, pathoschild went to moddrop and manually changed the default file on every mod he uploaded there to be the correct one...and moddrop automatically changed them all back
(That should be less of an issue after this weekend. Once the new SMAPI 3.13 beta releases, I'll be removing all of the beta versions for mods that SMAPI's improved rewriters can handle.)
(are you going to re-release those when 1.5.5 comes out for real so the rewriters have less to do?)
(they seem to slow down startup a bit if it has a LOT of rewriting to do, eg, unofficial 64 bit)
(SMAPI 3.12.6 should improve rewriting speed a bit, but yep I'll post non-beta updates for all of the mods when 1.5.5 is out of beta.)

It means that whatever that folder is, it lacks the manifest.json file that SMAPI needs to load the mod
(the manifest contains such important information as "what kind of mod is this", "which, if any, mods this mod relies on", and "what's the oldest version of SMAPI that can load this mod")
Interesting. I wonder whats causing that, as I downloaded them, unzipped them separately and placed them in the folder. Thank you for the information, I'm newer to using stardew mods, and it has a lot of mods dependent on others to work. So, it's a bit to take in when there's an error.
you probably either a. had something eat that file, b. have an ancient XNB mod in your mods folder, c. have a bunch of loose files now because someone packaged their mod wrong so when you extracted it instead of going to a proper folder it instead just scattered its components including a data subfolder around in your mods folder so now you have to put all those loose files into an appropiate folder or d. accidentally put something that isn't a stardew valley mod at all in there
oh or e. downloaded a mod that is supposed to overwrite an existing mod
i think thats all the possible reasons for that error

I can confirm that there's no loose files, they're in actual folders. I made sure that all the mods I'm using are at least for the current version of stardew. I am thinking about just uninstalling these mods since they're specifically for CP, maybe I can instead just use the version that overwrites portraits.

also, you need to take that NonRegrowableCrops assets folder and put it inside your More Giant Crops folder - no you shouldnt be using them, i brought it up because vortex eats manifests sometimes

yeah i scrolled for a modupdatemenu error in your log and didnt see any but i did see more giant crops complain about having no assets installed and realized one of those empty folder errors was a more giant crops assets pack that was floating around loose in the mods folder
i think your rampaging navi combat drone reskin is like that too and is supposed to overwrite a file in the combat drone folder, but i dont use combat drone so im not 100% sure

Surprisingly I don't seem to have loose files for the giant crops, so they may have gotten eaten when I unzipped all my folders together like a fool (or so I was informed in a very polite way with less harsh words)
theyre in a folder named NonRegrowingCrops
in NonRegrowingCrops is a folder named Assets, which belongs in the More Giant Crops folder

specifically, you installed the Beta versions of Content Patcher, SpaceCore, JsonAssets, and Automate - you can grab them on Nexus, or as the non-default file on ModDrop.
pathoschild set the non-beta versions as defaults and moddrop automatically changed them all back, he's going to take them down soon

anyways wrt betas some people have resorted to giving their beta versions names like NOT THIS ONE and descriptions like DONT INSTALL THIS ONE to keep people who aren't actively beta-testing from installing their beta versions
(there's a stardew valley update coming out at some point this year, which changes some of the underlying code for, iirc, game pass compatibility reasons, and it has a beta out so modders can update their C# code mods)
(mods rewritten to work with the beta dont work with the main version)

the only mods in there that could affect these things i believe are SVE and joys of efficiency, check your SVE config and see if you have the balanced crafting option set to true, and remove JOE to check maybe?

can you try rolling back more than a day? the game originally lets you roll back only one day, but smapi keeps extra backups in save-backups (which could be found in the same place where your Mods folder is)

first, make a backup of your current save, take out the whole save folder, put it on your desktop. and grab a zip file from the save-backups folder, then take out your current save folder from it and put it in the usual saves spot in %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves
also, have you taken out a JA mod recently? maybe one that adds fences?

yea the one you get from save-backups should have ALL your saves, just extract it somewhere and grab only the save youre trying to roll back
go into the mod folder and change SauvignoninStardew.dll to Sauvignoninstardew.dll and see if it works?

I tried! It did not work, that was my immediate thought. But also this mod is two years out of date. I might just decide to not use it since I can't find a working unofficial update, even if the concept is really nice.

if you'd like, there are mods that change the interior and exterior of the slime hutch to become a winery (but you cant use casks in there unfortunately)
There's a mod that turns the slime hutch into a winery and you can get the casks anywhere mod. It will add up to something similar, if you want that.

you're still in the installer. If you follow the instructions in the green print it will tell you how to open the game itself. (I do not remember what it says but someone else in here can probably tell you if you need help with it)

you need to copy this "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% and paste it onto your steam launch options (go to steam > library >stardew valley > right click and go to properties)

I went to robin's to build the silo and when it was ready I went again to build a coop. when I came back, I noticed that the silo doesn't collect hay when I use the scythe
I was wondering if it's mod related because it's the first time something like that happened
SMAPI has a feature where it dynamically updates bundles after mods update the bundle data. Unfortunately I've seen several reports of corrupted bundles when playing in non-English. I was going to remove that feature in the upcoming SMAPI 3.13.0, but I could backport the fix into today's SMAPI 3.12.6 if it happens frequently.
How do you fix the save file currently? I'll probably need to do it for a few affected players.

I got the SMAPI log of the play session + _old save just before it got corrupted. On my glance at the start of the day (02:09 at the log) SMAPI invalidated many of the assets names and after that happened out of memory errors (coincidence?). https://smapi.io/log/ff01072e56344aad8f7baa9f0b6ae31b
On the farmhands' log I saw that on 02:10 it tried to fix broken bundles, but not on the hosts' side.
P.S. Save was fixed just before the session start.

weirdly enough, only the ones for ridgeside valley are working, but I think that's because they're not installed via CP, and instead installed via replacement

@frigid quiver OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. Ahh, discord & steam are the only other 32 bit programs on my PC currently and I need both of those going
so I guess I must cull the mods, but I'm not sure which ones to do that with-- I didn't have this problem before lol

It really is! I messed with it a bit last time I picked up the game, but I figured I'd do both that and Ridgeside this go around, but it seems the odds are against me lol
