We don’t usually get betas. This one is for modders to get a head start since a lot of the brackend stuff has changed

and 32 to 64 is some big changes aswell
i removed all mods, and reinstalled smapi, then went on to my farm, jus to see it all misplaced, the greenhouse misplaced and all my crops are out of place, on the basic 1st farm, when my farm was the expanded one.
ya cause when you don't load any mods it doesn't place stuff where mods had it
so stuff looks crazy cause the game places things based on a coordinate system
so imagine base game was a 5 by 5 map
and you put something in the center which would be 3,3
then expanded the map to 25 by 25
all of a sudden centered item is now in top left
and lets say you put it in the center now. 13,13
then go back to 5x5
its going to be outside of the map and just hanging out over the border
i already starded a new game on the expanded, but it reverted to the basic farm even after i installed the expansion again...
so my game is messed up?
your save maybe. but i don't think the game is messed up
if you have expansion and made a new game
yeah it seems the seasonal cute characters and seasonal cute characters for sve are overriding it. might need a manifest dependency, which is a bit more tricky to set up

ok i would make a back up of your mods folder. uninstall and reinstall stardew aswell as the current stable version of smapi

sorry, i can't really do it now because i'd need to download the mods, but you'd need to edit the manifest.json file of the chaekal-rizum mod to have the seasonal cute characters mods as dependencies https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Modder_Guide/APIs/Manifest#Dependencies (other people here will know how to best do it)

how are you loading your mods into your game? mod manager or manually?
you need to uninstall the smapi version you have
Go to the beta section and uncheck the beta option
and reinstall the current version that isn't beta
And then download SMAPI 3.12
and if you are using a mod manager you need to set it to not update to beta versions of mods

xnbcli can unpack individual files, but you can use stardewxnbhack by putting the modded file to the Content folder of the game so it gets unpacked too
Yeah I just figured out the xnbcli thing. I'm unpacking it right now.
Xnbcli might not work for newer xnb files but I’m not sure if it was updated
It gave me a .json file, so I guess I just find the Sprite files for the Wizard in Seasonal Cute Characters and replace them with this?

it's some xnb data probably, it should give you a png file too that is the right file

@dire fractal What worked was tho change the version of automate and content patche within the modrop application, then everything came back to normal!!! Thing is, the mod drop sets as default the newest versions of smapi, content patcher and automate, and installs them right away, and content patcher is a critical resource for Stardew Valley Expanded!.
Now everything works

it's best to compare the spritesheets first, at least that the one you're replacing the original ones isn't smaller (not sure if it could result in a crash or something in some situations)
and none of the sve content is there anymore

Yeah, I'll make sure they're the same file type, and just in case I'll keep the original sprites in a seperate folder if I need them in the event of a crash, etc.

Looks like you uninstallled SVE by mistake. Also you can't have both Grandpa's Farm and IF2R at once iirc

there is also seasonal cute characters for sve that was editing the sprites (and both can have multiple spritesheets they use for the wizard)

I’m using more recipes mod and it’s not got any errors when loading but for some reason me and my farmhand aren’t seeing the same items.. even when we buy items from shops we see different things.. i see the apple as an apple but my farmhand sees the apple as a piece of meat or something lol

No, it's not a fun dance. The Json Shuffle (or Json Scramble, as it is also known) is what happens when you add or remove a Category:Json Assets mod and then continue playing your save. The IDs of your items are likely to get mixed up (shuffled, if you will) and where once you had a blood orange you might now have a lucky clover or a sword or wh...
I’ve read it over and over and still don’t see what they want me to do.. I’ve been dealing with this for 3 irl days.. (15 hours of me constantly trying to fix it because we really want to use the mod).
You can sell the affected items and it'll basically be fixed

Hmmm. Anybody got any further recommendations for playing a "modern mage" character? Basically giving the game a more magical or fantastical feel via added items/craftables/crops/etc? I've already got Magic and Mana Bar.

Another one could be fantasy crops. You get to unlock some cool crops by the wizard. I also have devilish horns, you can buy all sorts of horns from the mouse in cindersap forest. I plan on getting married with a pair of big red horns instead of a veil. Then there's festive valley by smolhuman, you can get cool stuff around town the days before, during and after the festivals, like more forage than normal, eggs, you name it. There's also a scrying orb mod if i remember correctly.

Yes! So long as the building you want to replace exists in "vanilla" (normal SDV)
And you can look at how a mod like Elle's Buildings works to see the code in action.
But I warn you, once you get one mod working you're gonna be like "this was so easy, I could make more...."

you need to go down a content patcher verison
you have the beta version, which is for the beta smapi, which is for the beta stardew, which is only for C# modders so they can prepare for the framework change

yes but be warned that sometimes the custom npcs might not have the anem you think they have

Hi! I haven't played Stardew in a year or so so I've got a ton of mods to update. I updated SMAPI, ran the game once to generate a log, and used the log parser to get a list of my outdated mod. But the list includes a couple mods I don't have, like CustomMusic and Farm Type Manager. Do you know why it would show those?
ohh i forgot I had that one, I didnt realize there's more mods in subfolders
I know SVE includes CustomMusic by default, and Farm Type Manager is a necessary framework for a lot of mods.
Yeah, the larger mods often will just bundle everything into a single folder with the mod name
I'm back, and I went into both versions of Seasonal Cute Characters. Went into Assets > Characters > Wizard, and replaced all the sprites there with the new ones.
The old and new sprites are all PNG files.
But it still stays the same

Grampleton Fields is a separate area to the east of Pelican Town
The SVE npcs live in the western forest so you're fine
Ohh ok because during a cutscene for Sophia i met a new NPC named scarlet.. she said her and her grandpa (whom i haven’t met yet) lived there. SVE just updated so i wasn’t sure if i needed to add it… otherwise how would i visit scarlet and her grandpa?
Grampleton Fields is a.. farm area, I believe? It's extremely laggy and isn't needed for the main story of SVE
Otherwise it wouldn't be optional. I don't think you can visit them
Yeah, Scarlet is just a side character for Sophia's story
she does visit though

Hello. I need help, Maybe some of you want to help me find the version of the app ( Patcher, PyTK - Platonymous Toolkit, TMXL Map Toolkit, Farm Type Manager, Json Assets, Spacecore, and Winter Grass) For SMAPI version 3.7.6.9 android of course.
I have a question regarding content patcher mods, maybe someone more familiar with it can answer. I have a mod that replaces every NPC's sprite with another. I have another mod that I would like to use in conjunction with that, but it changes the sprite/dialogue as well for some NPCs. Is there any way to for the first mod to still function for the other NPCs but for the 2nd to still work as intended? Or is that just not possible?
I hope I understood the question right.
- If there is no config to turn off the sprites, then you could open up the content.json file of the other mod and either comment out or delete the part where it replaces the sprites. It will look like:

"Target": "Portraits/Bear",
"FromFile": "assets/secret_bear.png",
"FromArea": { "X": 0, "Y": 0, "Width": 128, "Height": 128 },
"ToArea": { "X": 0, "Y": 0, "Width": 128, "Height": 128 }

Remove these kind of blocks for whichever NPC you want. For portraits, the ones with Target: Portraits/NPCName is your main target. For character sprites, Characters/NPCName. For dialogue, Characters/Dialogue/NPCName
2) If you want the second mod to replace the parts of first (or vice versa), add dependencies so that the replacing one will load later. Or you could rename the mod folders so that the replacing one comes later.
Hi.. is there someone available to look at me and my friends log to see why our more recipes codes aren’t matching up? Like, I’d have an Appel and i see it as an apple but on my friends screen they see it as an orange It’s like that with every recipe
Took me WAY TOO LONG to figure this out, but I had to basically delete anything that had the word "Wizard" in the Seasonal Cute Characters mod (Both versions) and the Custom sprite FINALLY LOADED!

If it says CP then it can be installed in the mods folder normally, however, the DCBurger ones for CP seem.. buggy. I couldn't get it to work and had to use the portraiture version
You'll probably also need to take whatever folders are in the third one down out.
If they're still inside the folder with all the numbers (the unzipped folder) they likely won't get read.

i installed if2r for sve but in the map tab, it displays the grandpa's farm layout

.DS_Store files are artefacts left in folders on Macs that the system uses to save layout info. They're hidden by default so they appear in all sorts of shared folders, and you can ignore them no matter what system you're using

hey all. im using SMAPI on mac and once i get it running it runs perfectly. however it can be really hard to get it to actually start successfully. i often get infinite beach ball mouse. restarting doesnt help. (also it may be relevant that im using an m1 mac)

quick question about 1.5.5 and SMAPI 1.13 betas - will they affect my different saves in 32 bit and 64 bit? i've been using 32 bit recently and haven't updated the mods in my (currently separate) 64 bit folder for a while, but they both used different mods for different gameplay styles - will i have to abandon this and use the same mods for every save?
you shouldn't get the betas, they are mainly for modders and would break a lot of things in all likelihood. i'm not sure if i understand the question correctly, but after 1.5.5 is released in the non-beta channel it's still possible to use different mod setups for different saves, say with mods groups

I'm really hoping someone here can help me, I've been having tonnes of issues with SDV for the past few days. Get numerous red errors on my smapi log and the game freezes, so i cant progress past day 18 in winter. Feels like groundhog day lmao
ive attached my smapi log, if anyone can have a look for me that would be greatly appreciated!
just for some background info; I had been getting out of memory errors the day or so before, so i removed a few mods to make the game run. None of the mods seem major enough to impact the games ability to run. Mods like winter crops, automated gates, NPC portraits.

@final patrol unfortunately removing small mods isn't going to help much - SVe and RSV are your main contributors to OOM. You can maybe get a little more memory bu going int theitbrespectivr [CM] content.json and changing all preload to "false"

The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.

uninstall smapi (run the installer, and uninstall) and then reinstall it, if it doesnt work, try installing smapi manually by following the instructions in the README in the smapi folder

I don't know, I know that I had to install .net 5 to make the 64-bit work. As I understood it, there will be a switch from the old XNA 32-bit system to the new MonoGame 64-bit. The first one is a discontinued framework for games and the second one is his substitute, but it keeps being updated. That's what I got from Pathoschild's patreon post, the internet, quora and the post in Stardew Valley forum by CA. I could have missed something though, I'm not (yet) a developer

SMAPI rewrites mods for compatibility, so most mods should still work fine in Stardew Valley 1.5.5. Once I'm done with the initial wave of mod updates, I'll be retesting SMAPI mods to (a) add their beta status to the compatibility list, and (b) see if any broken mods can be fixed with more rewrites in SMAPI.
(Keep in mind the beta is still very new, so mod compatibility is a work in progress.)

Yep. SMAPI already does that, which is a large part of why 80% of SMAPI mods still work despite many never being updated for past game/SMAPI releases. It has some rewriters specific to Stardew Valley 1.5.5 already, and part of the work in the beta is to improve them for mods which are still broken. (Though some mods will need an update, not everything can be rewritten unfortunately.)

It does it on each load. (The first versions cached the rewritten DLL, but that caused more issues than it was worth.)

SMAPI doesn't need the mod to be open-source, since it's not changing the source code. It rewrites the low-level machine code in the DLL directly.

Are you using the 32-bit version or the 64-bit beta version? For the latter, many mods are crashing because they depend on mods that haven't been updated yet.

when does it crash? i see a lot of warping around and then game close in the log. it also seems you have removed the default mods installed by smapi, the Error Handler mod could be useful in the case the game crashes
