it should work in theory, the 64 bit edition is really just the linux version (down to the nospace in the file name, for some reason) with internal tinkering to make it run on windows mono

Ugh, yeah I don't think level extender works well with co-op. it completely ignores the "drawBars" config

hi! I need some help! i'm using smapi.. but suddenly it's saying the manifest for some of my mods are invalid?
i can't find anything when I look it up.. I only get stuff about manifest.json not being present, which isn't my issue
do you use vortex/moddrop/other mod managers?
i use vortex for some of my mods
then i'd guess it's a problem with that. if not, then reinstalling the mods to get the valid manifests back should work
not sure how you fix them with vortex
i was hoping i wouldn't have to fresh install my mods, but I guess it's worth a shot.

the main reason you'd get that with vortex is on mods that are disabled but still have config files in them
ie, if you disable a mod you once had in vortex, it leaves the empty folder (or empty folder + config file), which smapi will complain about with one of those 2 errors
but i still have some of the mods enabled that smapi is complaining about
i only have 2 mods disabled on vortex that aren't even related to the ones smapi is yelling about

Is it normal for there to be a very mild jitteriness to 64bit? And does it calm down after a bit?
Like, be a little jittery when it first loads in, but after a few moments it calms back down to normal
pretty normal, especially on a heavy mod set

'NPC Jasper' has multiple patches which load the 'Characters\schedules\Jasper' asset at the same time (NPC Jasper > Schedule - final, NPC Jasper > Schedule - pre-accident). None will be applied. You should report this to the content pack author do you get this in single player as well?
oh wait, i guess that's some beta version (seems to be newer than the latest nexus release)

Yeh I need to add the "host" condition into every schedule so it only loads one based on the hosts conditions.

@amber sapphire go under settings and set your game and mod file paths
the staging folder is not one you needed to change.

I think you need the mod that gives generic birthday dialogue to NPCs that dont have it written for them.

hi this is my first time using mods ever, and so I installed smapi, and now this mod says I have to install it into stardew valley/mods, but I don't have a mods folder in my stardew valley folder. Do I just make one myself? (sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don't wanna break my game quq)
SVE patches the item prices individually with content patcher unless that has changed and the lower profit margin reduction should apply to the patched prices
@bitter plinththe setting in sve directly lowers the internal value of most vanilla crops, so technically it would work, but that doesnt change modded crops, so basically would make vanilla crops worthless, comparitively.
@cunning solar if you dont have a mod folder, you installed smapi to the wrong stardew installation
how do I figure out what the correct stardew installation is? Because I just chose whatever the instally thingy told me to do qq
it should have told you the folder it installed to in green at the end of the sampi install
and during the smapi install, it adds 3 mods and creates a mod folder, so if you dont have that, you're looking in the wrong place, or it didnt install

hello! i have a question about the redux version of the walk to the desert: should i use that instead of the one that only says expansion? im going to try to add zuzu city on my map with sdve, ridgeside, and garden village, so. thanks to anyone responding!

hmmmm, some of the ones I use are like, stardew valley expanded and ridgeside valley, i used them before on previous saves where im in year 3, didnt corrupt my files so maybe those?
do they add whole new areas?
sdve expands pelican town, ridgeside pretty much adds a chunk of land by the bus location
in addition to SVE and RSV there is Lunna and East Scarpe. both add new npcs and areas
oooh east scarpe, havent heard of that yet
others exists too but they are more minor and/or in beta state as far as i know

for now if you remove the DCBurger portraits you should be fine. Im not 100% sure why PyTK has issues with them
Yeah never had a problem with the portraits before 😦 any way to fix that? I love those portraits.. on the plus side no other errors so far finally 😵
it's an issue with PyTK. PyTK's scaling feature seems to be incompatible with the 64bit version 😦
I can't seem to get 64bit with mods to actually load the game beyond the title screen. It just freezes up completely and does nothing despite waiting for a while
Mine freezes for a while when loading with a white box in the middle screen but it loads eventually

when we compare the shortcut here to the original application, they both have different paths right? so if i open the original application ill be able to play with my singleplayer mods, and when i open the shortcut, ill be able to play with my multiplayer mods?

Yes.
You could try copying the portraits and pasting them in the Portraiture mod's folder. I have no idea if that works though (you shouldn't need the .pytk.json files if you do that, but don't remove anything from the original CP mod)

Most mods will have it in their descriptions. If the mod doesn't touch any vanilla areas, it's most likely compatible

You can put mods in subfolders, so far I haven't found what's "too deep" into folders that would prevent Smapi from finding and reading it. As long as the main folder stays intact and it's pieces not thrown across other folders, it's good
I think one mod is like.. two-three subfolders deep by accident, and Smapi is completely cool with it

you're putting a bunch of stuff into subfolders, and they have long names
smapi doesnt like that
try removing the numbers in the folder names too

plus the folders themselves had very short names
all thats there is furniture and none of the errored mods are in furniture
im trying to rename some mods now

on some npcs some specific portraits give error, even the file size of portraits is correct.
in other cases, portrait works normally
apparently, the problem is not in the portraits file, because if it were, all the npcs expressions would be as in the first print

depends if the dialogue mod edits dialogue .. in the events

Gah, I think I'm just going to have to delete level extender.
I'm separating and organizing all my mods into subfolders, for example:
-NPCs
-Locations
-Recipes
etc...
Can there be a problem doing this or will SMAPI load all mods normally no matter how many subfolders they are in?
I believe that would cause an issue but not 100%
long as you aren't breaking mods apart in the process it's fine. Smapi will read nested folders no issue

sometimes it can mess with priority load order

shouldn't be very common, usually people use dependency to ensure load order if it's really important
Is there an "Omnitool" mod or something? I tried looking and all I ever find is "Almighty Tool" or "MultiTool" but those simply switch to the appropriate tool. I'm looking for a "single slot paxle" of sorts, a pick, axe, and hoe all in one item slot as I'd rather not carry a vast assortments of tools on me everywhere at once.
Don't know if you already got an answer, but if you have portraiture, copy (don't cut!) the portraits and put them in the Portraiture portraits folder. It should work then.
oh don't worry lol it was before i even tested it, i just assumed they wouldn't be compatible because silly. i'm pretty sure i've come across both!
ah good to hear ! yeah for what i understand of the framework, mods should be compatible, mostly, even if very high chance of having stuff may happen if you have lot of them

(I suggest adding more details to the ping, like a log for the error. That way if they're not aware of the issue, they can start looking into it right away instead of going "what needs to be fixed?".)

But when I start SV the smapi window doesn't show up and there arent any mods when i start the game

Hey y'all! I'm new to modding and went to download SMAPI but I got an error. It said it couldn't find a mod folder. Am I suppose to make one before using the windows installer?
No smapi should have made one
If it's got a z or zz in front of the name, leave it in the main mods folder because it's using the alphabetical load order priority thing
otherwise changing the folder name is probably fine

My guess is that Comodo is sandboxing the installer, so it's faking access to the actual files. Do you see a green border around the installer window when you run it?

Has anybody tried the new version of Bug Net? I'm running into an exception where Method 'Draw' in type 'BugNet.BugNetTool' from assembly 'BugNet, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' does not have an implementation.
So the mod ends up skipped during loading

its the one that gives the house 3 levels
then they upgrade all at once and expand each floor from house upgrades.

I already fixed it, the infinite zoom mod was causing an error in the calculations of the size of the portraits

i got all the requirements but for whatever the normal keybinds dont work... i think it might be a mod blocking usage of those keys but im confused on how im gonna map them all if magic mod wont let me use shift and any other button to enable it
i dont know what to do about it and dont know how to find out besides looking through each mod and config manually and that will take forever and it wouldent be worth it to do all that

The only thing I can think of for this, and it's a long shot, is that ICustomWeaponDraw's draw method has no access modifiers, being just void draw( . . . ) while the draw for the BugNetTool is a public void draw( . . . )
It's the only difference I can find

The parameters are identical, BugNetTool definitely implements ICustomWeaponDraw and a draw method

nevermind i got mine to work. the issue is that the keybindings in config didnt include the primary trigger key.
also honey thats not what i said at all. im saying that each machine requires all the ingrediants. not every vanilla machine requires coal either. look it up on the mod page. the instructions can also be found in the readme either on the site or in the files (depending on how the author packed it)

it's really funny to see someone like this mod. I remember I made it (the sprites) when I didn't know anything about mods and then I turned it into one. I plan to update Medieval Electric Furnace after finish my current project: Sunny Crops (and I hope this one pleases a lot of people, I'm really excited and I worked a week non-stop on it). So about the error you are getting is not because of the new smapi. It's a bug because the Content Patcher doesn't have the function to edit the appearance of a Json Assets big craftable with two stages

If I use two dialogue mods and say Mod1 comes before Mod2 alphabetically right
If mod1 has Mon2 and Mon3 dialogue
and
mod2 has Mon2 and Mon4 dialogue
The game will use mod2 for Mon2 cause they overlap and mod2 comes after but keep Mon3 and Mon4 cause they don’t overlap, is that correct?
Or do they just all stack with eachother if I use CP so I end up with 2 lines from both mods for Mon2?

Very rarely my male farmer will turn into a lady..ish thing and I am so confused as to why, what's causing it and why it just.. happens randomly. No errors, ever, just there and my speed boost from CJB doesn't work
specific day keys are different spaces, so you would get mod2 mod1 mod2 assuming mod2 loaded last

the closest you will generally get is stuff like JoysOfEfficiency, which can do something similar, but pays framerate penalty to do so
When I sort on my mod folder alohabetically it starts with symbol ones so [CP] stuff goes before A B C D. Is that the order smapi loads them as well or does smapi start with a b c d then go to symbol folders
it sorts the same way your os does (which is slightly different in linux and such)
mostly meaning, smapi querys the file system for a list, and how its sorted is how your os returns it

Assuming this was in response to my query (ignore if not), would it not be as simply as coding in an item that "checks" the selected tile then matching is material with one an existing tool would interact with (say, a tree to axe, stone to pick, etc) and then act as said tool?

Hmm.. I might look into developing mods and seeing if I can't figure out a way myself since I'd have wanted it to be another level of too regardless (ideally requiring iridium quality of the respective tools before it's availability, for balancing). I'd also have to consider how it would interact not just with "breakable" items such as trees and rocks, but ground itself (don't want it accidentally hoeing for example), and how it'd interact with the Forge, if it could at all since there would be conflicting enchantments for some to a degree.
Since it doesn't exist already that answers my query, so I thank you all and shall return next time I've a mod issue/question

are you using the yet another harvest with scythe mod? there is a (closed) bug report about that problem it looks like. if you're using that mod you could try the option in cjb cheats menu instead

SVE takes 50% longer to load than the same mod load without SVE. At least in my experience. You may just have to wait logner.

u can't play stardew valley with mods on M1 yet
It's a similar issue that RagingPluto is having, wherein SMAPI will load fine on the first load, but subsequent loads simply do nothing. I'll provide a log for ya', but from what I've seen its an issue with the current version of SMAPI.

If you uninstall and reinstall SMAPI each time you want to play, it seems to work. I just got it to load up again, finally.

I downloaded some mods, tried to run the game, and the app says it was open but the game never showed up, it was just a spinning wheel and the app was not responding. I moved to the 64bit version and I have been dealing with a lot of errors lately, but I just cannot seem to solve one of them in both 32 and 64 bit, my Tmxl buildables disappear overnight and some days they are there some days not, but I can still see them in the F2 menu. Im using the immersive farm 2 remastered mod, is there a problem with the farm itself?

id say its a broken manifest but these mods dont have a broken manifest so you most likely didnt update them correctly

I deleted wind off the short sleeve one and I don't have the error message anymore but it still doesn't give me long sleeves. I know it's possible, as it happened maybe twice before but I can't get the sleeves to work anymore. (have not added anything that should affect that)

strange. the Target looks correct and conditions match, but the patch isn't being applied for some reason. i'm not exactly sure but i'd expect the farmer_girl_base asset to be loaded when you see your character

it says it can't load Error Handler 3.11.0 because it's no longer compatible., although you have smapi 3.11. i wonder what that's about. having the Error Handler might prevent the game from crashing at least i guess

Go into the [CM] folder and open the content file and change everything that says true to false. This will stop the music from looping and preloading. That should make it load faster.

Thanks, I'll try that! 😄 The TMXL errors seem to mostly be about the Athanaeri Corner mod, which isn't that essential, so I'm going to try ditching it and see if that helps.

I just downloaded the Mod and it's Dependencies myself and it works for me. Are you sure you have all the mods DustBeauty listed? You could also try to use the CP Version instead of Custom Furniture.

Excuse me, I have a question. Me and my friend are in Winter Y1 with about 130 mods. We dont use and PPJA or other mods which add crops/trees etc.
But we want to, so I would like to ask if we're to expect any JA Shuffle trouble if we activate mods like PPJA - Artisan Valley or Starbrew Valley ?
I think Json Shuffle only happen if you remove the Mod adding new items and having them in Chests and/or Machines.

@supple echo it's the good ol Tile Layer Format error again. TMX is a base64 and Macs dont like that. Needs to be CSV or XML. It's an easy edit by the author or someone with Tiled.
ahhh, that explains it. I've nixed the mod in question for now and will message the author. I think I have Tiled laying around my hard drive, so maybe I'll try tweaking it sometime too.
I have seen this error so many times it might be worth making a quote about it.

Okay. First off you have a lot of mods that need updating. Second, I see it says CP is trying to load two mods that want to change the same thing. DexMods Cozier Default Cabin and DexMods Cozier Default Farmhouses are both trying to change the cabins. You'll have to delete one of them.
There's also something about MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server being installed and that they may cause issues with SMAPI. Says to try to disable that software if you see errors or crashes
these mods that needs updating are somehow bugged

there's no easy answer to that, if you grab all of the 'heavy' mods, expansions and such, you can make stardew use 4gb inside 200 mods, wether or not it still plays well at that stage depends entirely on your computer

Yup. It takes a while to load, and it might hitch for just a moment on the start of a new day. But otherwise it's fine.
And yah, I don't use a lot of the heavy mods. Most of mine are JA, CP, CF, BFAV... I don't use any of the large expansion mods.
once stardew actually gets going it generally runs pretty well regardless of mod loadout, only usual problem being running into memory issues. There are a few mods that do active poling and the like constantly that can really hurt your framerate, but not many.

So after playing for so long and did a complete refresh of mods. I find out that my entry to the basement is GONE. I remember having that done back in Year 1. Now its just gone. There are no errors in the log and I've been playing quite a bit.
Update: It was just a glitch, I saved and exited the game then reloaded the game. I think what had happened was when I changed a setting for one of mods it caused the game to glitch a bit. WHOOPS lol
first thing to try is updated to smapi 3.12.2

does anyone know how to stop my mac from overheating when i play with mods?
it used to be fine but the fan keeps going off whenever i run it now. everything is up to date.
Maybe it has lots of dust in its fan? you could try opening it up and removing that

So I like writing complex characters and I like Stardew valley a lot, but would the two mix? I thought it might at first, but then I thought about what it would be like having a troubled character with like serious issues and dealing with heavy topics, combined with a lot of dialogue and then it just doesn’t seem like it fits stardew
some people have already. and there's characters with heavy issues in base game (shane, kent) the game just doesn't do a whole lot with it.
Stardew's something of a blank canvas, I wouldn't worry so much about if a mod 'doesn't fit' with what's there. Rather if you want to add to or change the atmosphere of the game, by all means go for it
Stardew valley expanded comes to mind (probably because that's the only real content mod I've used) but it adds some characters with darker backgrounds and some fair bit of development, and adds to that of the existing characters as well
Does the harvest with scythe mod works?
I think just dont go into morbid detail and dont make it feel gratuitous. The SVe mature events added for vanilla NPCs feel a bit gratuitous.

It's useful to keep up if anything does go awry, SMAPI is the first thing to check if there's something causing an error/freeze/lag/something you expected to load didn't

The ones added for canon chars? Well the sebastian one adds backstory I guess (which isnt my backstory for him but whatever) but the two deleted ones were out of place and didnt add ri the storyline.

Any help with specific SDV 64 downloading questions? I've tried so many times, quit for like a week, and I'm trying again.
So the SDV64 installer, do I install to this location from the depot downloaded through the steam nav console?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_413150\depot_413153
Or a different location?

Best I can offer is my strategy for adding/removing JA mods: take screenshots of your chests before you do it, and be prepared to delete items and spawn new ones. Alternatively of course is not changing JA mods at all during a playthrough
I am figuratively crying, I must have done it myself like 10 times and it finally worked! I might be able to play without my game crashing constantly from memory errors! Have all my puffer hearts

Hi again! I posted last night about my game not opening once I download mods on my 2013 Macbook pro. I just get a black screen and/or just the spinning wheel of death. Someone suggested I launch the game through smapi and not through steam but we couldn't seem to find a solution. Wanted to ask again since more people are probably awake now. there are aesthetic mods that can affect them, I'm not sure about a variety of different mushroom tree styles though

hi! i've been attempting to get mods and ive downloaded them and put them in my game's mod file but they still wont work? i have the latest version of smapi too.
Having my crops destroyed, I suspect it's as a result of the NoFenceDecay mod. Is there a fix to this?

yeah ive been launching it through SMAPI but i guess i could also try redoing the settings on steam.
Have you made sure that the folders in your mods section don't have an additional single folder inside? Sometimes when you export mod files you will end up getting a nested folder and must get rid of the outer folder before using the mod.
And when you launch the game it says SMAPI in the top bar of the screen, right?

it must not be launching through SMAPI then. Rather than use steam, try just using the SMAPI shortcut. If we can get that to work, then we can troubleshoot steam launch.
