Hey, I was wondering if there's a way to purposefully disable achievements? I want to start a modded save where I'd be using cheats a lot but I don't want to earn achievements.

While I don't usually have steam on, I find I get the same achievements each game so I think you'd just get it and you could get it again legit the next time
In-Game they're earned per save, but the Steam achievements are one time thing earned from any save. I could just take them away with the SteamAchievementsManager but bleh I'd rather avoid the hassle
some people were saying if you run it outside of steam it won't track it but I couldn't say for sure

You should be able to make a desktop icon or you can connect it to Steam if you have the steam version, you can also connect the 64-bit version to Steam as well

you can always just procedurally disable mods to narrow things down
there are... quite a few of them though...
and all the errors seem to be from the base game, which never happened before
i think the only major i did was get the latest smapi
while you can disable batches, it is time consuming. all the errors seem to be about the fishpond which may or may not be helpful but you could try disabling mods that involve fish, etc.

this is really an anyone question, but how exactly do I properly add in the Dc burger ridgeside village 5 bachelor portraits and lunakatts dcburger sve portraits? It adds a massive amount of content: new NPCS, locations, events, quests, fish, etc
But I do think it's recommended to use a new save for it because it changes so much from the base game

SVE edits the map. On am existing save, this means debris, bushes, and trees will become glitched into buildings and areas that you can't access without using cheat mods ( NoClip ) or resetting bushes / trees ( Terrain Reset I believe ). So while yes, you can add it to an existing save, it might mess things up and glitch the map out
Which is why a new save is recommended, nothing to mess up

question: whenever i try and close my game, it just goes into eternal limbo and doesnt close until i force close it when windows says it doesnt respond. i dont know why that is?

its also possible one or the other doesnt agree with 64bit client, but you can/should try disabling those three in various combinations until it stops
there's also an update for the 64 bit installer in that log

Hello, I hope there is someone here that can help or at least give pointers on where to go next. The baffling thing is here at home we have two computers with identical mod loadout (literal copy), but each has different problems.

The first computer: New saves are unreadable for SDV. I found a temp work around by reverting the file spacecore-serialization-farmer.json in saves to a version from a few days ago, which has it's own problems of course. I actually already did do a verify/repair in GOG Galaxy, that procedure actually lost a file.

Guys do you know of any mods which can unlock all achievements on a save file? I had the GOG game of Stardew Valley earlier and used to play on that, but got it on steam cause some friends wanted to play together. But my solo save file's achievements aren't synced with Steam achievements. I know theres a mod that exists which used to do this for 1.4 or 1.3 but hasn't been updated since. ;

There's something wrong with the marnie NPC
i could do with someone explaining everything i need to do to fix it - why the ostrich won't work, what on earth is happening with marnie, how i can tell morris to goway for npc adventurers etc.
i've figured that much out, but how do i change her schedule??

the eggs don't hatch which apparently is to do with bfav, so i downloaded the bfav ostrich so you can buy it at marnie's ranch but it always says this "[BFAV] Ostrich will not load: "Ostrich" category already exists"
but idk if that warning is ignorable because the game crashes before i can even check 
You could submit a bug report with a link to your log file here on Life Cycle's page if a similar report doesn't exist already: it's a mistake in the schedule that tells her to be in two places at the same time on a certain day. I'm guessing it's Life Cycle anyway, since I don't recognise any other mods that would change her schedule

iiii'm really quite lost - i moved the sprites for common and somali into adopt&skin (so that i could have both of them) and i'm now very very unsure
adoptNSkin uses numbers to tell what a png is
you move it into it's skin folder and change it to creaturename1.png etc, and keep the numbering the same with the babys if any or you will get odd results

I dont 'think' that schedule error would do anything, its just 2 mods trying to assign marnie somewhere at the same time slot, probably have to do a patch summary to hunt down what

It's a single schedule entry, so unless a mod's targeting fields in her schedule for that day specifically it's more likely a mistake in a single mod

Again pretty sure it's Life Cycle, you can open the content file for Marnie & Lewis and search for '1700' until you find that line with duplicate fields for the day
For what it's worth part of the reason ostriches didn't work, and why the bfav ostrich mod doesn't now, is that bfav hard-coded all the vanilla animals but was never updated for the 1.5 changes.
would need to call the category tag something different, since Marnie's already has a Ostritch tag, I would imagine, that's what that error is throwing anyway
If you wanted both you could probably edit the ostrich category to add another animal but the actual animal name might need to change then (like a subspecies or color difference)

Sounds like what I experienced with the rsv and npc map locations issue. Assuming things haven't changed there is an update for the map locations mod on the rsv discord

I found one bug once that left no errors but wouldn't let me load my save. Turned out to be an issue with JojaMart closing though.

In regards to the Joja issue it was because Joja had ceased to exist but I'd failed to set an alternate for my chars that enter the JojaMart. Once i did that it was fine.
I suspect it may have been something that has now been patched.

I had an issue with NPCs walking into the void instead of visiting the island and it was caused by custom npc fixes. I swear I disable every mod before I did that one.

new saves in existing games or even brand new games aren't save/loading correctly?
New saves in existing saves, buit I have had the same problem with completely new.
And it is the save does not show up in the load menu, while the files are there.
As soon as I over write the spacecore file they are seen again.

The only things in that area that I can think of are the prismatic tools and the weapons from Raffadax, which I don't have yet.

if the copy of the file from x amount of time works but the current one doesn't it could be something you did between them that's getting serialized
The other thing is, it has been a while since I really changed any of my mods.
I have also tried rolling back all together and replaying those days completely differently and still the same result.
presumably the serializer is only saving details that are relevant to where you are in the game. I might try doing a beyond compare against the good and bad versions to see what it might be getting hung up on, or just try to get pathos involved
I have tried doing that through WinMerge, but that is one big mess, because it sees the file as one big line.
yeah, you'd probably want to run it through an xml formatter first, but it'd still take time to go through it

it'll only do so much in this case since it's xml nested into json, but it's still useful when troubleshooting json errors
But from what I see it seems to be all ItemBag related, so for now it looks like I need to get rid of those or find out exactly what goes wrong.
something in one could be creating problems, maybe. I don't know enough about how the serializer works to say for certain but I guess you could try systamatically deleting sections of it from a copy of the file to see if it's a specific bag that's causing the issue

if you've otherwise been able to use it before now, and on the other computer, then I think a good starting point is the serializer is having some issue with something interacting with the bag mod
My guess is one of the bags autograbbed something it didn't know how to handle.
if you're able to narrow it down you can pull out the xml data, prettify that and see if anything starts looking like a possible culprit

different computers can respond differently. My big computer gets really choppy with 64bit and CPA, but my laptop handles it fine. My wife's computer can't currently run 64bit in a playable state
True, I have noticed that often enough, but have no idea on how to help her. Because playing without PFMAutomate makes life almost impossible with how her farm is setup. The other thing is that it only happened recently, since the last SMAPI update.
performance problems, and not logged errors, can be pretty hard to figure out so that might be something to ask the devs of smapi and pfmautomate about

It may or may not fix the problem. If issues occur, don't save your save. I suggest also backing up beforehand just to be sure

So I'm trying to make it so that my Lava Eel pond water is the default water color instead of red. I downloaded the Pond Colors by Water Type content pack and erased everything except for:

@harsh lagoon OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. You have two different versions of the game now if you downloaded 32

I can't say I've seen that. Weeds usually show up when an item id is invalid but pig drops should be vanilla items that should never change

What's the word on a 64 bit SMAPI thing so far? I heard it was having issues, but kinda need it since even my personal game is having OOM issues randomly ( Quite suddenly too, as before I was able to play with the same amount of mods and not get any OOM issue no matter how much I played, but now? I can't even play three days without it happening )
Working fine for me and my 995 mods and I've been using it for... since it came out 
I chose to remove the CPA mods to cut down on stuttering but it's doing well for me

Not sure but what I did was download mono to make smapi (from nexus) work and then I applied it to stardew valley on steam which is now coming up with the unknown error message.
It's an unofficial solution. It should work fine for most users (with some minor caveats), but some users might encounter weird problems. You'd basically need to try it and see how it works for you.
@zenith estuary So you downloaded SMAPI from Nexus; how did you add it to the Stardew Valley folder after that? (e.g. did you copy files into the game folder, run the downloaded installer, etc?)
It didn’t have the text I applied to steam that the tutorial I was following did on the terminal thing so I copied it from the video but they were using windows which could have been my issue
I downloaded smapi on safari and added it to my stardew valley folder which I then had to get mono to make it work
Yep, that would explain it. It works a bit differently on macOS, you shouldn't change any of the Steam options. Can you edit the Steam options again, erase everything in the launch options box, then try launching the game through Steam and see if it launches both windows (SMAPI console + game)?

Hi, i play with the stardew expanded mods and I tried to update them today and when i went to play, the save I have nearly 100 hours in got deleted and i am not tech-savvy enough to know how to recover it. Help?? I did the smapi thing to look at logs; can i post the link for someone to view it?
@zenith estuary That's normal then! SMAPI adds three mods by default: Save Backup (which will create daily backups of your saves just in case you need them), Error Handler (which automatically prevents and recovers many game or mod errors), and Console Commands (which adds commands to the SMAPI console for troubleshooting and testing if you ever need them). It's fine to delete them if you want, though I'd recommend keeping Save Backup and Error Handler.

Okay, so that save file is corrupted (which usually happens if the game was exited or crashed just as it was writing the save file). Fortunately that's easy to fix since both the game and SMAPI keep backups. See https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Undo_the_last_save for instructions to use the main backup, and feel free to ask if anything is unclear.
hey, reinstalled chest labelling but i'm unable to change the name of any chests in farmhouse - the label is too long and the rename option is offscreen i think. i've tried zooming all the way out (ui and game) but it doesn't work 😦
There isn't really a hard limit; a few players have over a thousand.

@sick cave I'm not sure if Chest Label System is still working; I see a lot of comments on the mod page saying it has issues. It looks you also have Chests Anywhere in your screenshot though, which adds a label so there's not really any reason to use both. With Chests Anywhere you can edit its config.json to set the EditChest button, so you can press a button to edit the chest even if the normal edit button is off-screen.
(That looks like a custom machine using Custom Farming Redux that wasn't restored, not a normal chest though?)
(I added a note to truncate very long names in an upcoming Chests Anywhere so they don't break the UI though.)

64 bit has only been introduced recently though, people have been dealing with tons of mods far longer than it's existed. That's why I'm confused how they're able to do it

@sick cave Yep, you can just remove Chest Label System. Backspace will work fine. That happens because PyTK stores custom objects/machines/etc as fake chests in the save file (since we can't store custom types in the save); if the mod which added them gets removed, any items from that mod which used PyTK get left behind as weirdly named chests.

I have WttdR installed and so far the glitch hasn't happened
It seems like Downtown zuzu is causing it cause I put it in and it happened when randomly transitioning, but without it it doesn't happen

I have two depot folders. One's a back up. My actual one's here D:\Games\Stardew Valley 64
You can put it whereever you want, I just meant put the installer folder inside the folder temporarily

Saves that you load while in the game are automatically done, as they're in the appdata folder
Save backups are just zips with your saves in them, for use when you need to replace a broken save or want to go back a day, etc, etc

Also, little bit of advise when loading 64. It'll be a white box on a black screen, I'd recommend not touching anything at all while it's loading and just letting it finish up. It can crash otherwise

No, they can stay and I'd recommend keeping them
Save Backup (which will create daily backups of your saves just in case you need them), Error Handler (which automatically prevents and recovers many game or mod errors), and Console Commands (which adds commands to the SMAPI console for troubleshooting and testing if you ever need them). It's fine to delete them if you want, though I'd recommend keeping Save Backup and Error Handler. From Pathos himself

That's entirely up to you. I keep it for playing multiplayer so I don't have to take out my mods and such
I use 64 for singleplayer with my almost 1000 mods, and then 32 for multiplayer and just my small handful of mods

that's what I do when I handle space0 mods, because one wrong click and all 48 mods -- including unreleased / unfinished / problematic ones -- get installed into the "Mods" directory.
So I made a "Mods.Actual" directory containing, mods that I actually use ... and the "Mods" directory is just a 'sacrificial' directory for development.

So I apologize if this has been asked before, but I have been racking my brain for the past few hours with this... I'm not dumb, but I am new to modding and troubleshooting Stardew Valley. Normally deal with Minecraft and 7 Days.
I use the x64 launcher so I can have more RAM for mods. It runs fine... until I install Stardew Valley Extended. I have a clean install with SDVE and just it's required mods. Here's the log if anyone is able to assist.

i wouldn't mess around with vortex

Hey y'all, I've got an interesting situation. I use stardew through steam, and have mods installed through vortex. It says the mods are active, SMAPI runs when I start the game up and it says everything should be working, but when I actually play the game, none of the mods are there. Thoughts...? I've tried everything I can think of, nothing works.
u need to install your mod manually to your mod folder

You should do a log as well
Each mod that I use is unzipped in my mod folder (as I've been told to do so) And like i said, SMAPI confirms that the mods are active and running, but they're just not showing up in game

I often saw that error message, forgot exactly how to fix them
I do use starblue valley for recolor, but I couldn't find the shadow in the tilesheets, I have to look at my other mods again to see if I have any others that edit the map

All you have to do for achievements is make Steam launch it

Speed up many animations in the game (like breaking geodes or eating). Optionally configure the speed for each animation.
