ok, now that's a problem, 64 bit version absolutely will not be happy in not the default monitor, loading a game, hitting e to open inventory causes it to jump back to the primary monitor, hrm.
bizzare, it stays just fine on my third (in windows) monitor, but absolutely will not stay in the second

hello everyone. I'm seeking some answers regarding use of the magic mod by pathoschild and spacechase. Has anyone else had an issue where the magic hotbar doesn't appear? the quick keys bound to use the spells also do not bring up the magical interface.
Does any1 know if i can use the UIinfoSuite mod on Multiplayer without the other person using it

I have already done that, and acquired the skill, but the hotbar for magic spells that are assigned is still not active. The mana bar is shown, but not the spell hotbar itself. The buttons to use the spells also at the moment, do not function :<
I also removed him from the requests board. Even though I think that amused me.
@buoyant basin strange.. maybe updating the mod helps? I think yesterday was an update for magic and mana bar

one of the existing red text issues I had with 4.0 no longer comes up with 5.0
my current issue is that I cant seem to get the hotbar to pop up
so I cannot cast spells, nor can I allocate spells to the 'prepared' area
additionally, I have tried sleeping to get the next level, interacting with the shrine to allocate a skill point in hope the hotbar for magic would come up, trying to use tab to "switch" the magic sets but nothing has worked so far. That's the majority of the trial and testing I've done.
One thing I tried was that I suspected conflict with other mods I might have been running, so I removed everything except anything that was necessary for the magic mod, but it still remains the same. Any help would be appreciated for sure ^^

He's already working on it I think, since I posted to the forums ^^ my friend suggested I try asking the discord because maybe someone had a solution or might have had the issue before. I'm not in any particular rush

Can Character Portrait mods cause a bug where you can't talk to NPCs ? Seems like I can only talk to them a few times before there's no interaction button when you hover your mouse over them.
Unless that's intended for NPC interaction
npcs ignore you when they're out of dialog, yes
(unless 1.5 changed that somehow, havent actually gotten a working 1.5 going yet :p)
Ive been trying to install smapi but steam wont launch into it any1 have a idea why?
npcs can only talk to you once per day. they might have a longer conversation sometimes, but it still counts as one

64 bit can use more RAM, meaning you can load more mods. Especially the memory-heavy mods, like Custom Music

Okay, uh. I had a question on where the original website is for the mod "Health Bars". I try updating it but the link constantly sends me to Look Up Anything page on Nexus. And the original page where I got Health Bars from doesn't have an update anywhere. Could this affect my game?

I was wondering if it was necessary to bother with the location times if I just set the default time
I assumed setting the default tick length would affect the whole game
so I wasn't sure why Tick Length By Location was a thing
but I filled them in all the same anyway just to be safe

To make certain areas go faster/slower
I assume it wouldn't work with farmhands in the game
my guess is, the main player sets the clock for all player
so the main player would get the effect they wanted, and it'd be a bit random for the other players

IIRC, I think the only time you include quotation marks is if you're setting the path in steams properties.

Sometimes depends on the pc, but also depends on what mods they are, too
it depends on your PC and what mods they are; some mods are "heavier" than others. 72 is my "light" mod set. 200+ mods are common for some players in here

Yea, I hit 300 and started having issues on 32bit. Upgraded to 64 bit and most of them are resolved, still a bit stuttery, but the game saves at least?

@tired brook The "cooking skill" is not working with "all professions". It they are suppose to detect each other but don't seem to be. The "Luck skill" is still working fine with all professions. I still get the message "[Luck Skill] All Professions found. i just figured since they both change things around dying in the mines/elsewhere they might conflict
Spouses React to Player Death just changes/adds dying events. But Custom Death Penalty Plus seems to change other things such as item or money loss
(Haven't used Custom Death Penalty too, just read its Nexus page)

There's no log message, but SpaceCore should detect All Professions automatically and add all custom professions. There isn't an easy way to check due to how SpaceCore implements custom professions currently though. (Adding the professions to All Professions' config won't work, since that only works for vanilla professions due to how profession IDs are stored.)
Whenever you have time can you try cooking with this build, check whether it still doesn't consume items, and then post your new SMAPI log?
@dire fractal The UI needs some work, but you can click the boxes along the left side to select a school of magic. There's a bug where the hotbar on the right (where you'd normally drag & drop spells to 'equip' them) isn't visible for new players; that'll be fixed in tonight's update.
I know it is not detecting the "cooking skill" because I only get the effect of the chosen skills and not all of them. Looking at github, back in 2017, the cooking skill mod.cs file had code in it to look for "all profession". It looks like it was removed when migrated.
Cooking Skill doesn't manage its own skills anymore, it uses SpaceCore for that. SpaceCore has the All Professions code here: https://github.com/spacechase0/StardewValleyMods/blob/develop/SpaceCore/Skills.cs#L345.
however that is about my level of skill with github, so not sure how to read the code. only that it is there

Note that it only activates when you warp, so you might need to exit & re-enter the farmhouse before testing if you just enabled it.

@tired brook Thanks, sorry for the bother. it turns out that it was just that I needed to warp, go figure. I kept restarting my game to try and fix it but never walked out the front door. On a different note, and I don't need it as I use all profession. but i noticed when i could not get it to work, that you can not use the shrine in the sewers to reset custom profession. Not sure if there is a mod to fix that or not.

@silent lily The sewer shrine isn't supported yet unfortunately. It's on my list to look into for future versions though.
thats ok, like I said I don't need it. As i use all professions. If you have a list, i would love you to add controller support for "prestige skills", it would be nice at some point. That mod feels less cheaty then all professions, but i cant use it. I play split screen with my wife and she could not click the buttons with a controller.
I'm not maintaining that mod unfortunately, so it'd be best to post a comment on the mod page for that.

@tired brook I was looking in my save file, and can't find the magic0.2.json file from the magic mod.... this was always a part of the Magic mod in the past, has something happened to it now? Also, I still have the problem of the altar loosing it's glow and magic function for some unknown reason. The log says the Magic altar was placed, and it usually works directly after getting Magic from Wizard, but when I return to add points to the spell it no longer functions....
Since the altar doesn't function "magically" editing the magic0.2.json file directly was the only way to continue spell progression, but now that is gone too
That file doesn't exist anymore; the data is stored in the player's modData field in the save file now. What did you edit in that file before to fix that issue?
it has (had) an entry for "Free Points" that were the points accrued through using spells... then you could distribute them to the spells you wanted to increase
This was a basic function of the altar back when it worked.... I thought that SVE was interfering with it, but I took that mod out and still had the disappearing magic function from the altar. No clue why that happens
I'll take a look later today; you shouldn't need free points to access the alter, since you also use it to set spells on your hotbar.

is there a mod that lets you easily move things like filled chests and artisan machines that are processing something? The Seasonal Garden Farmhouse mod changes the layout way too much when upgrading the house, so now half of my things are stuck out of bounds
No Clip will let you go out of bounds so you can get to it
I have that and I can get to them, but I can't move them without taking everything out of the chest or breaking the machine which stops it processing, I just want a mod that lets me move it and allows everything to stay intact

SVE is definitely good for that, as is Ridgeside Village, and they're compatible. I'd also recommend East Scarpe. It only has 3 NPCs right now, but there's more to come.
Also, Lunna Astray. (And i have a list of individual NPCs too. I like to add NPCs)
Cooler. Besides the new NPCs and new items, there's more involvement with the Adventurer's Guild and magic stuff. Plus, you can marry the wizard in SVE.

That's definitely fair. My introductions quest is up to 76 NPCs, and not all of my downloaded NPCs are even part of it, which should tell you something about the number of NPCs I have added.
I like it to feel populated.
I wish more folks had NPCs for the Boarding House mod. I only have two living there other than the two that run it.

Question: is my memory making things up or did the old mod Chest Pooling move anything added to a chest (by the player or by machines) into a chest that had an existing stack? And if it did, is there a mod that replicates that behavior for machines? Convenient Chests allows you to deposit to existing stacks, but that only works for the player
I wish the introduction quest could be limited though. Mine is over 100 people. It is not worth the reward at this point.

OutOfMemoryException errors on Windows mean that your game ran out of memory. The game only has access to a small part of your computer's memory by default. You can ! You will have NPC Exclusions as part of SVE, use the information on editing it to make a list of all the new NPCs you've added and set them to not be included.
Add fellow clowns npcs, all still work and have good stories. And Lemurkats are a must. Then ME plus Blanche.

The other option is to start the game, THEN add all the additional NPCs, since it doesn't add on, it just goes with what characters exist when you start the game

That program converts the linux 64bit version to windows, and the newest version says it will make steam download the linux version for you
I know it's possible, but don't know how it works. It's something the mod author has to set up. I think Trent has a break down for mod authors somewhere on how to program an NPC to use the Boarding House if it's installed.

All Stardew save game are kept in the same place.

smapi just runs the original base game file, but modifies it by applying the mods you have downloaded. it doesn't copy anything.

a dup of your stardew steam dir should not effect your saves at all.

cuz I did all the instructions in installing all the mods and everything and I tried to open it in my steam but it just came out as vanilla so the only way I could run a modded game was an application with a pufferchick icon

the normal exe is the vanilla game, you can get steam to run the smapi one
to use steam to launch stardew modded with steam.... after you install SMAPI it gives you a link to copy to your stardew icon in steam.
cuz it duplicated my don't starve game and idk if I should delete the duplicates

but you can also just open the folder and use the StardewModdingAPI.exe to run it too

you may need to start over to get stardew to work. Not sure what to do about your copied steam files though.
no no they both work
like the steam one is just vanilla but the copied one with the exe pufferchick thing runs the mods
then you are good. they will both show your saved games as saves are stored elsewhere. You just need to remember what saves are modded and what saves are not.

worst case scenario, you delete the wrong thing and have to reinstall the game

I'm currently trying to have multiple mod folders that open up a different times in stardew valley
However after following the directions, the code only outputs that the file is a directory
That's called the 'shebang'; it tells the OS which app (i.e. bash) can run the script. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shebang_(Unix).
The problem in this case is you need to specify the path to the launcher script, not the folder.
so how should I word it

so it launched the game but didn't go into the mods folder the code requested

Okay, um..... this is weird, my vanilla save let me put blue discus in a fish pond, but my modded game will not; it says "Your blue discus does not want to live in a fish pond." What mods would cause this, or is this something about the vanilla game I'm missing?

For this particular update, if you had it you also need to delete the RSV Quest Addon folder. It's not built into RSV instead of being an optional file.
I don't know if anyone here can help me. SDV keeps not being able to read my savegame, I have rolled back a day several times. The older save it can read, but not the new. And then I play again and again it can't read. Quite frustrating. Since the older save SMAPI has been updated, some mods as well. In the same period it happened that suddenly NO savegames what so ever could be read, turned out that a game file went missing. I copied back in from a backup and saves could be read again. I did a verify/repair through GOG Galaxy and the problem returned (and NPCGiftTastes.xnb went missing). I copied from the backup again, but now I have the problem with this particular save again (LOG https://smapi.io/log/90c0aec3c2f44cf89c9e1278c813a115 ). I don't know what to do.
Did that! The mod wouldn't load even then for me, im putting my smapi stuff up in the log parser and trying to fix it on my own (I think it was a spacecore issue, fingers crossed ive gotten things right this time yall will probs hear from me if it didn't lmao)

hm, have you used a save editing mod before? or edited your save file manually?

those are usually the main culprit for corrupted saves, id recommend not using them/not manually editing the file unless you know exactly what you’re changing

I downloaded from the site, unzipped to my desktop, opened the new folder and duble clicked the install on Linux.sh like the instructions from the wiki said to do.
can you open a terminal in the unzipped folder? if you open it there and type ./install\ on\ Linux.sh it'll probably work

that message should be just text printed to the terminal but it might hide what the installer prints to it i guess
and i'm thinking that if you press enter it might prompt the smapi installer to print its text to the terminal again and so make it visible
When I press enter when I first get into the terminal it just copys and pastes the last line which is “ (my Mac account name )-iMac:~ ( my password)$ but when I put in what it says and press just enter it says “ chsh: Credentials could not be verified, username or password is invalid. “

nono, I removed NPC Map Locations and then took the one from RSV and put it in my [Mods] folder
that log looks like you have the dependancies of SVE, but not actually SVE

RSV and SVE dont clash, they work fine alongside each other

from the menu, Go > Go to Folder
paste in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/Contents/MacOS/Mods or whatever your folder is

@glad elm the NPCGiftTastes going missing thing sounds like it could be a vortex issue, i've heard of a few people with vortex eating vanilla files before. you can try uninstalling vortex first and see if that helps any

Go to mod's BigCraftables folder where you find the folders for each craftable item. Inside, you'll find "big-craftables.json" for each item. Use notepad++ to change this line to true : "IsDefault": false. Now the recipe is available in the crafting menu.
Yeah. Same problem here. Bought the ice cooler and adventure bag before the update. But now I can't buy any other storage recipes. Something that I noticed is you hear a chyme when you buy an item. This chyme is missing on buying those recipes. Hope it gets fixed soon. ``` this could work for you probably.

@vital saddle usually that happens when mod folders are inside the folders with long names that are created from the archive file names (like zip files) and moving the actual mod folders out of those folders fixes it. on the other hand it could be that the way you duplicated your steam library resulted in a too long path too
yeah I have a duplicate of my stardew but just the application cuz I think steam thought I didn't had it (I moved my stardew out of the steam apps) so it made me a new app separate from my modded stardew
so I'm guessing I should delete that stardew?
i don't think that would matter, potentially what matters is what installation of the game you use (the log should show that)

you need to delete and reinstall the newest versions of ppja to fix those red errors (those are items that got added to vanilla and arent in ppja anymore, just updating over the old version won't remove those properly) not sure if thats your speciifc problem but that will definately cause you other issues

vanilla mechanic when you sleep before 12am.(or 1am?) you get back full stamina and half stamina if you stay up longer
How do i do that? It is showing up in the menu config thing at the beginning of stardew valley. There are nonerrors in the log about it. It is a simple remap of the forest map (doesnt even move tiles around.)
Energy restoration is also reduced if the player goes to bed after 12:00AM. The reduction is 2.5% per 10 minutes up until 01:00AM. After 01:00AM, it is 25% plus another 2.5% per 10 additional minutes. The player passes out at 02:00AM.

TimeSpeed basically lets me change how fast/slow the day goes. The default time is like 7 seconds real time for every 10 minutes in-game but I set it to be 14 seconds real time instead

and I was just curious if you gained stamina back slower when you're in bed if time in-game was slower

Ok, I downloaded SMAPI and installed it, installed the mods I want, when I get in to game most of them work and the game runs fine, but some of the mods don't work at all. I need the SMAPI log so I can get help, but when I switch to smapi from the game I can see the text for a short time but then it goes blank. I tried to use the instructions form SMAPI log parser for linux but they don't work, I search for /.config/StardewValley/ErrorLogs just like it said and found nothing. So where the heck is my SMAPI log?

Ok, when I go from the game window to SMAPI to see what its saying all the input from SMAPI disappears, if I scroll fast I can see text but as soon as I stop its blank again. When I try to put ~/.config/StardewValley/ErrorLogs into search it says nothing found, have tried to search from the home directory and others as well, it finds nothing
I also don't find a error log in my Stardew folder in Steam
the search function might not handle finding that depending on how it works. your file manager might support showing hidden files by pressing control+h and then you could access the .config folder in your home directory and also access the StardewValley folder in it

if finder won't read it, it has to be huge
probably need to restart the game but not let it run 'that' long that the file gets too large
Well when I go to properties for the file it says its only 39.3MB Not that big at all
that's big for a .txt file
for a text file that IS alot
most text editors will not read a text file more than a couple of megs
there are some that will, but that's usually a specific feature of that editor
notepad starts to lag around 1.5 gb xD
wordpad chokes even earlier, last I checked

also the fish doesnt have any animation other than just move and spin for some reason

Ok, so the mod (more like a modpack) Stardew Valley Expanded is what is giving me the problem. Looks like the log is saying there are mods missing that are required, but I downloaded and added all of the mods the SVE said I HAD to have.
