you only need one copy, so you can decide which to keep really. I personally like having the non-sve one so i can update it independently, but i'm sure sve wants you to use their bundled copy so they can couple it to their updates. π

Im experiencing frame drops even when just loading in, i have a ryzen 5 5600x and a vega 56 as well as 16 GB of 3600 ram, my memory didnt go above 50% on task manager and my cpu didnt go above 30

hey, quick question: for anyone who's using SMAPI, does it kind of take a while for the game to load up your save files? i haven't played the game too often with work and all, but i noticed this issue happening with v1.5 whereas the game loaded everything up just fine in v1.4? when checking my error log and stuff, it didn't seem like there was any specific issue coming from any mods i used but just checking to see if it's happened to others!

So after updating everything, (even for some reason the updated versions i placed in the mod folders still saying that they need an update), I'm still having an issue with things crashing .
Even playing without running mods, to going to create a new slot to play as a new farmer.. It's just gone.
And this is what happens..

I'd reset your content files, update and install .net framework and XNA (they may be installed already, but attempting another install wont cause problems) then do a reinstall of smapi (to get your smapi-bundled mods updated), remove FarmHouse Redone, reinstall SVE, remove BJSTimeSkipper and Lockpicks (Both are broken.)

Hello there all - is someone available to help me troubleshoot installing 64bit stardew ? I got up to the point in the tutorial where its saying to run "StardewModdingAPI.exe" in the game folder, but there isn't that command prompt in the folder currently?
Okay, game started up without mods ran smoothly!
Going to go ahead to see the mods version now.
run the smapi installer again, and when it asks where to install
SMAPI isn't bundled with the 64-bit installer; download it from the SMAPI website and put its installer in the 64 bit Stardew folder.
press "2" and then enter the path to this folder

you can also just...put it in the folder and it'll detect that it's in a folder with a stardew in it and go "do you want to install here or elsewhere?"
but yeah, it needs to be installed

somehow you have outdated console commands too
As i noted above: remove the existing copy of consolecommands (in case it's too old for smapi to properly update automatically). Do a reinstall of smapi (to get your smapi-bundled mods correctly installed), remove FarmHouse Redone, BJSTimeSkipper and Lockpicks (All are broken.), remove both copies of SVE and then reinstall SVE
that should get you a fair amount of the way
Also remove More New Fish and get a fresh download of that to install
There's gonna be a number of those, just trying to get the biggest ones knocked out for them π

So i set my smapi path under the launch options on steam and it launches smapi instead of regular stardew valley, and in doing this since i have the steam api, will i be able to unlock acheivments? All im using is cheat menu for the harvest with scythe.

(just setting "Comment" to --mods-path "MODFOLDERNAME" might work too)
That massive amount of files + the extremely old mods present = probably some ancient XNB mods in there, including old partially-XNB SVE

@royal echo well it seems to work fine trading to traders now fyi, though it did seem to freeze for about 5 seconds after i opened the window allowing me to choose how many to buy, but the console didn't spit out any errors and i was able to buy them using the items i'd brought

Not sure about the freezing... On my computer, before the fix it did crash, after the fix it doesn't but no freezing.
But if you can send me the logs, that would be swell, so I can ensure that the freezing is not caused by SSR

A visual example of what your Adopt n Skin pictures should be like, name-wise:
These are dinosaurs, so they have no Baby or Sheared sprite variants, but if they did have Baby ones there'd need to be a BabyDinosaur_[Number] for each Dinosaur[Number]
a sheep, which has Sheared and Baby sprites as well, will need eg
BabySheep_1, ShearedSheep_1, and Sheep_1

Also, you can name the subfolders whatever you want. If I put a WhiteChicken file pair in with those dinosaurs, Adopt n Skin would just see another WhiteChicken
and not care that it was in a folder named Dinosaurs. the folder names are just for the humans installing the sprites.

But the Nexus version is currently 1.3.4.
The page I linked earlier has 1.3.5. It has lots of fixes over 1.3.4.

technically both implement it, but i prefer the implementation from NML because it feels more accurate, so i disable it in UI Info Suite 2, you'll only want one or the other enabled though, otherwise you'll get double npcs on your map

please help, i opened up the mod config by accident while in the mines where i've made a ton of progress, now i can't seem to exit out of this menu at all. is there anything i can do besides force killing the game and losing SO MUCH progress? π’ i tried a command i found for making the ui smaller but it doesn't seem to work D:

Okay.... I do not know what broke when i updated mods today... But json assets (both 1.7.6 and 1.7.7) thinks pretty much every spritesheet in everyone of my mods is not the right size... to the tune of a 2.1 million line log file.

So I finally finished putting together my mod pack, extracted everything and when I booted up the game, it was getting 1 FPS at the main menu T_T.
I've got a super beefy computer, Ryzen 7 processor, NVIDIA 2060 graphics card, 16 GB RAM. I'm not sure what's going on, anyone know?

Nah it wasn't, SMAPI was using my global setting, and my global setting is to use my NVIDIA card.

I'd start by solving all the errors
You have several mods that are no longer compatible
and reinstall East Scarpe ( delete, don't overwrite the old version just in case )
You have More Giant Crops but it doesn't have an assets folder so it's a. erroring and b. not doing anything
...but definitely focus on deleting East Scarpe and getting a fresh version
where did you get your mod pack? were they ones you used to use a while back?
More Giant Crops says this, so I'm trying to launch the game to get that folder created to dump the stuff into the assets folder.

it might also be a corrupted file, but it looks like you installed a new East Scarpe over an old East Scarpe and now you have debris in your East Scarpe folder
(anyways older More Giant Crops just expected you to download a content pack for it that came in a folder named Assets and for you to put that in your More Giant Crops folder)
and you definitely have some old mods - lots of stuff needs an update, and you have some CFR stuff which became outdated in 1.4 Stardew.
Yeah the idea I had was "Ok launch game once, get that assets folder, then close it and put in the giant crops specific things I wanted in that assets folder that I had lying on my desktop.
THe giant crops specific things are probably already in an Assets folder that just needs to be moved

Ahh yep, here they go. I'm using both Regrowable and Non-Regrowable Crops, do I shove in both assets folders or can I just put the contents of 1 in the other and have 1 big assets folder?
If they're both in subfolders named Assets, just shove the subfolders both in the More Giant Crops folder and they'll merge.
i just installed that mod today you'd think I'd remember for sure what the folder structure is like...
the regrowth one just has a png for giant cauliflower, I believe (unless i'ts changed)

Strange, last time I played was in May 2020, and 1.4 def had been out for a while and that's when I used some of these CFR mods, specifically the Upgraded Casks/Kegs/Preserve Jars. I hope I can still use these, I rather loved them.

but CFR became outdated when PFM was released - plato stopped supporting it and iirc helped move all the features over to PFM

well. if you loaded save you'll have a lot of problems even without East Scarpe because the tilesheets are pretty important
Although my portait mod isn't working :c, even got the content patcher one. Although I could just replace the XNBs, it's what I did last time.
Only real downside is that it's pretty old so it doesn't account for any of the 1.5 goodies.

i highly recommend resetting files with steam and getting fresh, updated files. Then find CP conversions for the old xnb mods you used
without that you'll end up with errors or invisible new content

there was also a change in how the xnbs handled image data... I remember that one time I "returned" and machine told me that the files were not in the 2D format
those were some xnbs from 2017 also.
Well the thing is, when I went to go get my favored portrait mod again, I had already noticed the trend that everything seemed to be going towards Content Patcher, so I got this 1 instead of the regular one. But in my SMAPI log it says:

memorable XNB mod errors I have seen: the Genderfluid Shapeshifting Wizard incident; that time when somehow a flowerpot only existed for me and not the host in a multiplayer game so nobody could interact with it but it was solid for me and me only and it trapped me on the porch until 2am after a festival; the time someone had an XNB crop and JA crops and the XNB mod somehow made the JA mods clash with themselves

the genderfluid shapeshifting wizard error was at least a cool one. eventually there was an update or something or some error that forced me to reset my content folder and no longer have a genderfluid shapeshifting wizard though
shapeshifting in genral is kinda cool... the only semi-shapshifting one I know of is Denver becoming werewolf
I never had him in game long enough to get all the backstory on it... I have tunnelvision when it comes to NPCs and simply can not deal with more than 2 story arcs at a time
basically i tried to uninstall the mod, hecked up, and ended up with vanilla overworld sprites and modded, fem!wizard portrait sprites
and also iirc some of the references to the wizard were affected by the female wizard mod, and some were not

yes you need the copy of SMAPI made for 64 bit
Actually , I do have 3.10.1 but do I need to change where the SMAPI is pointing, cause when I go into the 64 bit and try to run it just kinda 'fails'
yup, you need to install another copy and use the 64bit patch location as a custom location when it asks where to install
you also need your mods copied over into the 64bit structure

I believe it's possible through a similar method to downloading the 64-bit linux client using Steam, but it's more productive to request an update to recently-incompatible mods so that other users can use them with current game versions

can someone have a look in there and see why my game is lagging so badly? is there anything that i can do to help the program run smoothly? i'm running it from an external harddrive on a windows 7 laptop lol so i'm not expecting miracles but the constant lag is starting to cause problems for my gameplay. it only lags on my big farm, too. (8 corners, loads of custom crops and trees, expanded, etc.)
also, how do i deal with this? seems i don't have to download the entire thing again, so should i just download the content patcher folder?

to be honest, I never used that mod to check luck.... so dunno... look on just the basic character screen (where you see what level you are in each area) and check your numbers there... it out to show green numbers indicating you have luck buffs going.
On your main game screen, up toward the top right corner, do you have your buffs showing?

Next day i got 9.3% but when i take off lucky ring and put it on there isn't any difference. Yes i had the buffs from spicy eel.
that's weird... each lucky ring should give a +1 luck buff (although only 1 shows up on the main screen)
Like you can have 4 lucky rings and on your character screen they will show up as green numbers, but on your main game screen it doesn't show

Yeah its based on the tv i think. It doesn't calculate the buffs you got plus the ring.

Yes. It would be nice if it tells you that buffs and lucky works. I do have the Ui info mod as well but they just give you colours and tell you that your luck is bad, normal, good, very good and such

I guess so... I have tried that setting the time back to try to get something from a "store" but unless it's just a couple minutes, once they decide they are closed they stay that way

trying to get a big setup of various artisan valley machines in sheds and being able to spend money on buying machines rather then trying to get the crafting materials for at least some of them is way easier
some of them have huge requirements
like the pepper blenders are really good but need 3 battery packs
and i still haven't gotten caroline's special request yet, so...
Yup... is generally a good idea, plus sometimes you can get machines from her (the Sister) that would ordinarily only come available in 2nd or even 3rd year
You can also get simialr stuff from the Goblin in Garden Village mod after a couple small "befriending" type things
but that's another mod...

i feel like the huge number of artisan valley stuff slows down my game too much though, and then i can't have the big map expansions like RSV and SVE
might just be me though. I'm not entirely sure about what does or does not make the game slow
i know the wayback sdv CP mod slowed down my game a lot and that made me hella sad because the art is so cool
i got rid of my lag when i took it out
yeah, artisan valley is really taxing for sure. it does add a lot of pretty cool stuff, though
so far i've stuck with just the trees
up to you(and also possibly your computer)if you think that tax is worth it/doable
i don't mind slow startup, but anything that makes moving around slow while in-game is a big no no
i can run a lot of it at a reasonable framerate, usually i get around 30, occasionally i get hiccups but at least part of it is just due to massive automate setups
as long as you can hold 30 reasonably well it's good enough i suppose
the weird thing is my lag usually spike between year 2 and 3 and i've never figured out why

it can definitely cause lag if you make setups that are big enough
depends on the run. But it happended both with and without automate
and i usually have maybe two fully upgraded farmhouses worth of machines max in each run. I don't know if that's a lot
not nearly as much as i run tbh, so it's probably not automate in that case
yeah. I feel like it's the update rate on some CP mods, but i checked and hardly any of them update on location change. Which is when i notice the biggest lag
Even wayback should only update at the start of each day so i don't know why removing it stopped my lag changing screens
but then again idk if all the CP assets are loaded at once or if it reloads anyway everytime you change screen
and in that case it really doesn't make sense when it happends and i'm down in the mines because i don't mod those areas at all
