Automate isn't as cheaty as say, using a global Deluxe Autograbber to grab everything in the world at once. It's really good for taking care of repetitive chores that would otherwise consume your first 2-3 hours of a morning.

what you're describing is a modpack. They're not really a thing for SDV modding, but it is possible if you're using the ModDrop mod manager (there are modpacks through ModDrop)

I reduced it in mine by removing mods tbh. Looking at ones that overlap in function, also mods on the older side, and hoped for the best. I used to have a pretty noticeable lag / stutter every 10 in game minutes. It's not that bad anymore

That's a known issue on Linux/Mac, and only happens when you launch the game through SMAPI.
It's the icon for MonoGame (which runs the game), and unfortunately I never found a way to replace it. Pull requests are welcome if someone finds a way to do it though.

we do recommend manual install > ModDrop > Vortex. Vortex is very quirky with SDV. So if you really wanted a mod manager, ModDrop is the better choice. But manual install is best SDVpufferthumbsup
