I know theres great mods out there like SVE
alot of modders and mod users are against xnbs for the reason of theres a limit to it and could also end up breaking your game
But I prefer playing vanilla with portrait mods
If you learnt what to do you could take most CP patches and revert them to xnb if you really wished to
I guess I just prefer having a permanent solution that doesn't require additional software to mod a thing to my desired outcome

if you have and xnb packer unpacker you could just take the images from the cp files and make your own xnb easy enough

There is actually an xnb to content patcher mod
I use them for a lot of stuff, rather useful if it's the only form the mod comes in
you could even get higher quality portraits with portraiture, people make some really pretty high res portrait mods

I guess I've never actually needed to use CP/SMAPI for portrait/character retextures purely because all I really do is just switch portraits/character models around
I used it for monsters, farm animals, houses, sprites, young me did a lot of xnb
If you had a basic functioning CP mod, you could just swap the images in and out of it as you choose
I could, however my gripe often is that on a save I have, I like to be able to switch between modded and vanilla without any hassle
So I usually don't mod in contint such as SVE

@sage kayak If the only thing you have installed are dialog and portraiture mods you can go back to vanilla without an fear of your game breaking since they don't actually add anything object of function wise

I really did like mal's rival heart events now that I think about it
with portraiture you can switch to vanilla portraits anytime, but its only for high-res portraits if you happen to get any

SVE has far, far too much content and while I am in awe at the content it provides, I still haven't done everything in SV Vanilla
I've only got 115.4 hours in SV Vanilla lol
@dense tree I can see the errors now, but they really aren't anything it just says there is a copy of the smapi installer in the mods folder... Otherwise there is nothing that stands out on that log... I noticed on the other log the skull elevator was tracking your mine progress. Were you able to go down any floors at all in the skull cavern?
I destroyed every rock and killed every enemy on a maximum luck day to make sure and no stairs or ladders or holes appeared
I tried using stone stairs but it said I couldn't place them
Was it just that floor for any reason, or was the problem repeated

i already have one for seb and the wizard, i need some for friendly stuff with all npc's
cause talking to everyone and getting abunch of the same dialogue gets repetitive

i usually use item spawner to get furniture and clothes, i actually dont think ive used it for anything else other than cheating some wood and stone
For me its furniture, certain materials and completing museum
My mod has so many mail and event requirements that event with item spawner its still hard to cheat my way through testing

anyone know why two different textures for the farmhouse would be overlapping
It essentially gets harder and harder as you level up you farmer. Everytime a skill goes up different things related to the skill go up or down. And it has monsters that get harder with you as well and a multi tier weapons system
@dire fractal you likely have to differnt mods both patching the same file but they are both doing overlay patches and so both are be applyed on top of each other
its just the "elles seasonal building" mod

@pine inlet I have weapons that do 400-600 damage and monsters with 1200-3500 HP boots and weapons with 40 defense each built in and you still get you butt handed to you ๐

lmfao ive never been very good at playing games that have some sort of battling- i havent even beaten the painting ganon boss section in ocarina of time
ive gotten knocked out in even the normal mines, not as much as sc but still 
@mild mirage same game version, same mod version, yes they are host, and they have other elles visual mods but nothing that i can see would cause anything like this for me and not for them
plus this problem happened before they had any mods
@dire fractal have you tried running the same elles mod to see if it still happens
timeline is i had visuals host didnt, worked fine but then visuals broke, then host got same mods as me but its still not working for me
It shouldn't make a difference but it seams that it might be an issue even if it shouldn't be. Couldn't hurt to try

Does the issue happen with any other farmhouse looks mods?
If you could prove its an issue with the mod that could be helpful
well uninstalling the mod shows the vanilla textures
and when the mod fails it looks like the vanilla and modded textures are fighting
and no i havent used any other mods
yeah like i said my friends is working just fine on the same versions
wierd, all the more reason to maybe check your game files
Are you running a lot of mods, could you be running out of memory
and its still just fucked up on that farm with my friend
if they start a new game and you join does the issue happen, maybe something has corrupted your save file
If that is the case we can go back a day to a backed up save file
because it'll be on the host computer
and not gone when you reinstalled
how do you go back?
in the game folder ther is a folder called save-backup in it there are rar files one for each day smapi backs up the saved games the first time the program is launch each day
then you would extract a day and copy those files over the current saved games
I can let you know where the saves are usually stored on the HD if your looking to over write the current ones
Its not garenteed to solve the issue though so make a copy of the current files in case you wish to still use them. that way if going back doesnt fix the issue you dont actually lose any of your game play time
So you were playing ok with them with you modded and them not, but then they got smapi and a couple mods, then the issue started?

If you can run a different mod for your house looks and have that work that would be a compromise
the problem is that mod is primarily for the other farm buildings
not so much the farm house
and if its fucking up the farm house by itself i dont really know what introducing another mod on top of it just for the house would do

They have craftables and other packs to fit the looks
There are a couple nice mods for making the inside of the house and other buildings in town look a bit more neutral
as well

If you can't use any graphic mods without the issue happening than that's something to really look into possibly with the user that maintains smapi or who ever might be able to diagnose and correct the issue

Her other packs are just for the farm and farm buildings way back takes care of the town

since i'm using a noclip mod, i thought it would be interesting to comment that if i walk into a chest and try to open it, if there's an open space after it in the direction i'm facing, i end up kicking the chest to the next available spot
i suppose it could be useful to move full chests around instead of emptying them, idk
thats a new mechanic, without noclip and an empty hand if you hold left click (or right dont remember) on a full chest you can push it around

If you see a mod that you like that is a xnb, I would recommend converting them into CPs. For animal ones I unpack the xnb and shove them into AdoptSkin as it's less work then making into a content patcher file ๐
I had thought the same at first, as all I had done previously was the AdoptSkin method. Then I made my first CP conversion and realised it was a lot simply than I had thought. The only thing that had taken sometime was then making a config

Yes. Sometimes the manifest on a mod hasn't been changed however, so even though you've downloaded the latest one, SMAPI still thinks you're using a outdated one. You can fix that by changing the version number in the manifest yourself, however ๐

I am pretty sure, but not 100%.... When I start the game and go fishing, the mod should do something but it doesn't...

Lavender, it sounds like you're experiencing the JA item ID shuffle. I usually just trash the shuffled items and spawn in what they originally should be

I've noticed the JA shuffle tends to hit non-vanilla flowers that have different colors. I use item spawner to make all those flowers the same color and it doesn't seem to happen as much. Only other thing it tends to hit is non-vanilla artisan goods that are in progress. Like wines and such
I've had it hit any item added by JA. Some people have mentioned that not only can it hit in-progress artisan goods, but also in-progress crops they went to harvest. So I think any JA item is fair game

I have a problem with my mods, whenever I launch SW using smapi, it tells me that automate is an empty mod folder and UI Info suite has sthg, but when I check for Automate, the mod is there in the folder, any suggestions?

Aah, you're using Vortex. I know that it mess with folders sometimes, sending the config elsewhere, etc, etc

The UI Info Suite is missing it's manifest, so I would redownload that one first
And: Automate because it's an empty Vortex folder (is the mod disabled in Vortex?).

I keep getting the SMAPI message when starting a new farm or something like that:
[SMAPI] Found broken community center bundles and fixed them automatically.
I thought it was because of the Lovge of Cooking mod, but it's out.
The problem is, when this message comes up, the bundles are spinning around.
In the case of a game status, the spring collection bundle was already completed, but without a reward and without more being unlocked.
It's just a white message, not a red or yellow message.

as i said it is NOT an ERROR. just a white message. Nevertheless, this results in an error in the game.
If it only happens sometimes on world gen and youโre doing random bundles it sounds like and error for a specific bundle within a mod. That may or may not be chosen based on RNG.
A log will still be helpful to see what bundle mods you have

I don't usually change bundles.
Something was changed by The Love of Cooking but otherwise I don't know that any mod would do that. But wait a minute.
The mentioned error does not exist in this log at the moment.
in this log the error is now back.
Love of Cooking adds a bundle but I donโt see it in either of those logs. If you took it out SMAPI will try to fix it so it doesnโt break your game. The white text is harmless but ideally mods that change bundles shouldnโt be removed mid-playthrough.

Since you use Vortex, you may be missing some stuff if you didn't also transfer over the Vortex game directory

I installed smapi and have all the mods in the right folder, but in the farm creation screen it only lets me have 3 cabins max
I'm in a big multiplayer game and yea you do need to buy the extra ones in the game. We ended up cheating in the resources and money and then removed the cheats mods after that

@river robin the debug commands should be typed into the smapi console, plus you don't need the < and > characters (you can also get the event ids from the mod files where the event scripts are patched, works for most mods)

When I had to reset all my mods and delete my save for debugging I switched from Grandpa's Farm to IF2, both have their strengths. My next save I'm going to go for difficulty so I'll choose a smaller farm.
if youre starting a new save with it then go ahead, its when youre mid save and you try to get a mod that changes the farm youre using thats not
It can cause some annoying placement issues that may be unfixable, especially if going to a smaller farm.

I got SMAPI finally today, and I realized that since you had to launch through the API, you couldn't get the Steam overlay. But I found a quick fix for this.
