I'm using Vortex to manage mods for SV, but someone said this is a bad idea, but I'm not sure why? They didn't have a reason, so I'm just wondering the downsides are, or if I will run into trouble down the road

no, those can stay separate, but you need a copy of all 4 each in your mods folder. fortunately, you already have custom music/npc fixes/exclusions. so all you need to copy across is Stardew Valley Expanded

This is a known bug in the latest version of the game, i think you have to delete startup preferences
(You can find them by pressing the Windows + R key, which should pop up a "run" dialogue box, then paste

On two separate playthroughs, when I reach the top of the volcano caldera the two golden walnut bushes are empty. The walnuts are there when I did a mod-free run. Yea the game being particular about the tilesheet order was added in one of the later updates so SMAPI started warning about it also

I noticed the last time I had a json shuffle, it only affected the flowers in my chests that had different colors. Other than affecting stuff that was done processing, of course. I started using item spawner to make all the flowers one color. It didn't affect vanilla flowers though

Not sure if this will help the situation but I took the Life Cycle Mod and placed it in a clean updated environment... On a new save it appears to be working... Smapi log with patch summary... remy probably needs to update CP and SMAPI. They are running very few mods otherwise

@eager iris it depends a lot on what you want to make, if it's something that can be easily done with frameworks it's really wasted work to try to figure it out on c#. there is a github page for mod ideas somewhere, many of them are c# mods probably

we do have some NPCs and Shops set and maps
It's custom NPCs who travel the valley, including custom locations! They are antisocial and excluded from everything. They're just meant as map filler and flavor dialogue.
They will have unique dialogue and unique schedules for every day of the first year

To be fair someone like Lucikiel is a way too interesting NPC to be downgraded to a tourist

say vegetables take the id range of 300-400 or so. and 400-500 is fruit. if you add 20 vegetables, that's gonna push fruit up by 20, and suddenly the fruit that held 400-420 hold the ids of vegetables. this effects crops already planted, and some inventory.

so if you've got a fruit that takes a year to grow, and it's regrowing, suddenly you're always going to get celery wine from your alien stardrops. unless you replant that slow growing plant XD

So when one updates something, everyone else gets the update as well

And every Content Patcher mod starts with CP

Wherever you are hosting your files over the cloud - yes they can see the folder names. But they can also see the contents of the file. They would know it's fine

It's mainly a bunch of Shaved Ice and Frozen Treats recipes that are erroring. Hadi told me to delete JA and redownload it because its not the mod itself erroring. I did that and now its still doing it. I even redownloaded the Shaved Ice mod and tried again. Same thing happened. Ebi Tempura and Tendon fixed themselves after i got the fresh meat mod downloaded (i was missing content patcher animations for that one). And teriyaki has always errored like that
I'm going to see what happens if I put shaved ice in a clean environment by it'self
easier said than done with all the requirements lol
I'm assuming so because it was a required file and when i downloaded it, without BugNet, and opened the game, it worked.
this might be weirder than when fixing a line of code in museum expansion fixed an entirely different npc mod who wasn't loading

Hadi changed some stuff with Artisanal Sodas, which messed with Shaved Ice. They said they updated the new shaved ice that took these changes into account, but I don't think they did. I changed the shaved ice files myself to these new changes and it works with no errors.

i'll admit i haven't gotten to shaved ice production stage yet on my save, but my smapi isn't showing errors with shaved ice at all, let alone the errors raven is getting

The box that pops up on nexus with "Required Files" has both BugNet and Content Patcher Aninations needed for Fresh Meat. π€· I don't know whats going on there. Especially cuz when i tried loading it without either, from the mega pack, it relined and said it couldn't be used without BugNet.
It says there needed and they are for parts of the mod to work.. the bug net stuff, but it'll ignore the bugnet stuff if bug net ins't installed

Sometimes optional things are listed in those "required files" popups. Winter Grass is actually optional for SVE, for example
And i downloaded Content Patcher Animations which was said to be required from Nexus and then it worked the second time
the description page always has additional notes/context on requirements
the error is a PFM and it's just not loading because it only adds bug meat stuff. not a big error to worry about
But why would it be erroring saying BugNet was needed? I'm confused
If you found which mod contained that PFM patch you could likely just delete the folder and the error would go away. Unless that mod also adds other items via the same PFM mod
the components requiring bug net/cp animations are entirely optional downloads as well
Found out about the Winter Grass thing for SVE (not marked as optional even on the description) because I wanted to dump it for a More Grass + More Grass content pack. I was very happy to find out I could.

the bug net portion of fresh meat is an optional second mod that depends on fresh meat and bugnet. you got an error saying THAT mod couldn't be loaded. the rest of the mod was fine

Every bloody night I get levelup messages from skills I gained over a week ago and it's driving me nuts. I got no idea how to fix that and to get rid of it. I don't have any mods installed which affects skills in anyway.
(ignore the updates half of them got a wrong update key and the other two are updated now but shouldn't cause that)

Fresh Meat's CPA component is the same way - maybe you downloaded the optional CPA component and it was complaining you didn't have CPA, which was required for that
@alpine talon you should be able to delete the folder [PFM] Fresh Meat for BugNet from PPJA freash meat... error will go away then, I still get a couple yellow warnings in smapi but no red errors

same thing happened to me with farming level 10. it finally ended when i used cjb cheats to play with farming professions. idk if that was coincidence or a fix, though >.>

That would actually explain some of the splitscreen coop complaints/errors I've seen here from time to time.
what we have in common: sve, automate, cjb item spawner and cheats, expanded storage, mod config menu, joys of efficiency, lookup anything, lunar disturbances, hold to break geodes, hats won't mess up hair, and their dependencies.
Sometimes errors are fickle like that though
The base game was barely built for co-op, it's gonna take some time for all mods to be compatible

oh, yes. i had turned off item vacuum until i figured it might be stable, then turned it on part way through farming levels.
Item vacuum and sucking up crops is the only thing I can think of (other than unexpected weirdness) that could possibly be affecting farming skill, since you get farming experience every time you harvest crops. Probably worth bringing this up to fury to look into
So far no errors, and it's added all objects and big craftables with Producer Framework only giving me a yellow warning about no Pistachio Ice Cream output. JA is giving me a yellow warning for Strawberry Syrup (Saying "No Idea..."). No redlines though
And also now I think I'm going to turn off my item vacuum, just for now, to be safe.

Is NPC barrier exclusive a tile property? I wanted to make some tiles so that NPCs doesn't walk on them, but not as a tile property, but preferable as an object

The funny thing about watching the recent activity page for SDV mods is occasionally mods crop up that, from the title, you expect one thing. You click on it. Then you find out it's something that's completely different. I saw that Rem from Re Zero mod crop up. I assumed custom NPC or maybe Emily portrait + sprite replacer or something like that. But instead it's a cat skin. 
hey @worthy moth , expanded storage's item vacuum might be causing issues with leveling. i used a chest to vacuum crops, and for about a week in game i kept getting the farming level 10 level up message. there have been other reports of level up messages repeating recently, but no answers. DJStarStryker helped me track down a potential cause for mine, which might be item vacuum.
sorry for lack of log, but the log's long gone by now ^^;
Would the vacuuming also be caused if there are no chests?
Or is it the potential functionality

I played for a few more days last night and FINALLY I got both bulletin board and RSV quest board quests showing up. if you can place paths down in the farm cave, I'd look into path connectors
otherwise just put random machines in the empty spaces

path connector config is an optional download for automate. and it defaults to only wood paths and crystal paths. you can add more, though

There is one downside for SVE on a first playthrough in that it actually changes how you get certain things. So if you use the official wiki, you might get a bit confused. But it's definitely up to you and what you're interested in

I use DaisyNiko's recolor, Elle's Seasonal Buildings, plus a large chunk of Dust Beauty's stuff. RSV is overall a bit brighter looking than Pelican Town is for various reasons, but honestly it all still looks great together IMO

Last Day to Plant pops up a warning when you wake up to let you know a day is the last day to plant a crop and still get a harvest out of it.

(So there would be a warning on say Spring 22 about garlic, because it takes 6 days for Harvest, so if you plant any later than that, you'll just have a dead plant.)

Personally, I also like Categorize Chests. If you're looking for extra stuff like SVE, Ridgeside Village is worth a look (and compatible with SVE)
what does Categorize Chests do ?
Categorize Chests does a few things, but the big thing for me is that you can assign items to a chest and with a single button, store any items in your inventory of that type into said chest. (I have mine organized for minerals, ores/bars, fruits, veggies, etc)
I also run Chests Anywhere (and it's compatible with Categorize Chests), but that's arguably a "cheat" mod.

The other really nice thing Categorize Chests does is left you craft using materials in nearby chests.
Since i have my first play through with just UI info mod i want to leave it like that that play through, is there any way to disable mods ? (im planning to do the next to this problem : i will copy my mods folder and leave it somewhere else saved so that whenever i want to play my first play through what i have to do is move the new mods folder filled up with mods out and put in the old one that just had UI info mod, would that solution it ? )

I just spent a bunch of time troubleshooting and fixing Shaved Ice and Frozen Treats for someone got it fixed then saw that just today the mod has updated to be fixed... lol thems the breaks sometime lol. At least it's fix for all now and not the user I was helping π

the issue was within the JA files listing the in game items by name instead of by Item number..
I know they had been talking to the mod maker so I figure once we found the issue they set out to fix it.. I'm greatly appreciative the mods been updated either way. Big shout out to Hadi and others for there great work on this mod

Idk if you had your question directly answered but 2 things:
- you can individually turn off mods by renaming the mod folder to add a period, like
.ContentPatcher - if what you're looking for is more to have mod profiles, even one in which the Mods folder is empty because you want it to basically be vanilla, modgroups can help with that!
