There is a content patcher version, but you should probably just get the Popuri-as-new-NPC version
Due to the new update, XNB mods are almost all broken
And anything that replaces an existing NPC's assets with content patcher is likely also broken as all the NPCs had big changes

If it's that they're invisible, they probably replace the furniture sheet and so erase new items. The mod would need an update. If it's something like a recolor not affecting beds anymore, it's because they are now separate furniture items and not part of the map.
If it's something else, more detail would be good :)

I prefer the sped up time approach because it's balanced for the game

yeah... it can feel overwhelming. that isn't even getting started on a lot of other mods not really being 100% compatible with SVE. (plus, 1.5 just released a few days ago so i don't feel super comfortable recommending such a huge mod)

The reason why I asked is because it's not compatible, I was wondering if there was any of you who knew if there was any unofficial mods updates.
If I had mods in my mod folder in the past, but I just wanna just play vanilla now, what do I do? If I simply uninstall and reinstall through Steam will it remove everything that's mod related?
@lost valley I'd remove your Mods folder first (or just rename it to anything other than Mods if you might want to go back to it) and play one day with SMAPI and no mods so it can clean up your save as best it can, save, and then if you want to play even without SMAPI, uninstall SMAPI by rerunning the installer and clear your launch options.
No need to mess with the game files at all, unless you've ever overwritten files in the game's content folder (
🗞️ ), in which case you'll want to verify file integrity.

Sure, you can just uninstall SMAPI instead if you'd rather. Your saves might still work if you didn't install any custom items/locations/NPCs/etc, though if you had different maps you might have stuff in weird places (another thing easier to fix from SMAPI).

So, steam.exe in the root folder of steam, send to desktop, modify the target in properties, and then i should get my mod groups working, yeah?

child to npc is just a framework, they don't get portraits and dialogue without an addon, in which each one does a different or similar thing. the portraits for child age up are somewhat similar to vanilla styles if you are wondering
if you hit an error, submit good bug reports with logs! It'll make fixing it faster

there's been a lot of "this is broken" without logs (on all mods) which means the modders have to find the error before they can fix it

That is the path smapi exe
If you rerun the installer do smapi it shows you the comand to copy in the launch option of steam

a log is helpful even if there are no errors! it's the first thing we ask for, there are lots of secret messages in Trace that can help us diagnose things

krs you need to backdate to the version from not today until a new fix gets pushed, the sauvignon thing it tells you what to fix (though its hit or miss of that's going to work in 1.5), community farm requires MTN which is broken in 1.5

and you need to back date to 1.2.6 of KRS until the author can push a new fix for 1.2.7

1.2.7 changed the internal name of the mod, which..other mods dont like very much, and then a fix pushed in a hurry for it.. wasnt enough either 🙂

I just updated to 1.5 and all the mods I could today, and I'm straight up missing the new crops. It's not just that JsonAssets doesn't know what to do with them and their old recipes, they're not in the game. Other than banana, that one exists. https://smapi.io/log/e289347af4c449e88d7722d2a7165e54

@muted pagoda I ran a search on my json items, and couldn't find any dupes for the missing crops, except for many different recipes that call for them.
@grand haven try with just sve and the parts required for it, then add back stuff to see what's breaking it
@fading shell yeah, it doesnt look like a traditional duplicate entry, with such a giant list you will likely have to split it and go hunting for what's breaking it
@fading shell I think Bonster's Crops is the issue here. You'll have to manually remove the Taro Root from its object folder.

Do you have the console commands mod installed?
That's a mod which comes bundled with SMAPI and it provides that (and other) commands.
If not, to get it back you can just re-install SMAPI

Got a SVE playthrough where the initial Krobus-Bush quest didn't trigger for some reason (I'm sure the conditions were there), and therefore the magnifying glass was never obtained
Was hoping player_add would allow me to add wallet items - as in, the magnifying glass

Not terribly important - I was expecting bugs anyway since this is SV 1.5/SVE 1.12 so I had to use a few experimental mod updates (PyTK, TMXL map kit, NPC Location and UI Info Suite IIRC)
Worse case scenario I'll spawn the secret notes themselves
Just curious if such a wallet item can be added through ConsoleCommands
player_add was not removed as far as I know (you can see a list of all commands by typing help in the console), but you can also type debug ebi 520702 to trigger the event. You can add it to your wallet too, but I'm not sure of ID offhand... you can also install a mod like CJB Cheats, which has a GUI and includes options for all the wallet items individually.

@clever burrow you need mods that use child to npc's framework. Child Age Up, Babysitter and NPC Child for SVE are the three available mods
Babysitter is my mod and it's just been updated with a lot of dialogue and different schedules. it doesn't have sprites or portraits but you can add those yourself from other mods with child portraits/sprites or use 'Lumisteria Child to NPC like Parent' for customisable sprites

Does the automate mod always run or do I need to be next to the machines / at my farm?
Nope, Automate, allows you to do cool things like : Furnace -Chest- kiln and if you put wood into the chest it'll make charcoal, and if ytou put ore, the furnace will take the Charcoal and smelt the ore.
yea, I know what it does, Question is if the game always simulates the whole world or only the area I'm in (e.g. mindes, town, farm, ..)

this is more of a general question, but when a mod folder has nested mod folders inside of it, do you always need to bring those to the top-level? SVE wants those folders moved out separately, but the instructions for SVE's immersive farm make it sound like you can keep the three folders inside the main one

For you SVE, you want all of these files in your \mods\ folder.
Immersive farm is a separate file you should also have in your \mods\ folder
so I don't need to break out the individual [CM], [CP] etc. folders from that SVE folder

Re: nesting folders, it is possible to do so, but you'd have to make sure the manifest.json for each component is in the right place
NPC Map Locations has map patches for several mods (Bourding House, SVE, Ridgesive Village off the top of my head)
Also that you remember how you grouped them, so you don't accidentally have a copy of the mod nested, and then one hanging out in the regular Mods folder (SMAPI won't load more than 1 copy of the same mod)

Okay I figureed it out. Sorry for bothering you. It seems that during the installation of the SMAPI something must have went wrong. I unistalled SMAPI and tried if the problem still exists. It did. So I tried to change the graphic settings in the game (disable vsync) which caused a complete crash on my pc. I rebooted, reinstalled SMAPI and everything was fine. So this surely was some kind of error during the first installation of SMAPI. I think the reboot was what solved the problem...
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

oh yeah, those three content packs all do the same thing (give your child dialogue and a schedule) so you can only use one at a time

if you want to use sprites or portraits from child age up or another mod with babysitter you can do that yourself by copying the images you want to use and putting them in the assets/images folder of babysitter (and renaming them)

it definitely doesn't work with Walk-To-Desert though. I did some experimenting with a separate mod folder, and it looks like the pathfinder sends them to one of the WTD maps, where they wind up getting stuck in a side room.
I did! that's my favorite one so far. The one that weirds me out a bit is top row, third from the left. The structure of the face is just this side of the uncanny valley for me with the super prominent cheekbones

I have a little experience adding mods to other games so I’m not completely new but new to modding Stardew. I’m on a Mac and I followed the wiki instructions and multiple YouTube videos but I can get the mods to actually show up in game. I keep seeing things say “run through SMAPI” or “in the SMAPI” window. Is it an actual program that needs to be running? I can find it after it’s “completed install”. Or are these references to keeping the terminal window open when playing?

Yes, there's a mod that does exactly that. It's called "Night Owl Mod"
He has a build of CPA for 1.5 in the works but it's good practice not to ask when a 1.5 version of a mod is coming out since we're working as quick as we can and get asked that a lot

It's still in the works, which means it's unreleased currently. If you're getting errors I recommend uninstalling CPA and any mods that require it for the time being.

for babysitter i would use toddler sprites (not child to age up sprites, which are for children and different and will have some errors like the child reading instead of jumping)
portraits would be fine from child to age up
you would rename the sprite sheet toddler1 or toddler2 (for first born & second born child) and rename the portraits 'portraits1' & 'portraits2'
basically copy the naming convention that is already used with the images in the folder for babysitter

SMAPI did update, but no it won't affect steam achievements to use an older version. As long as you set your steam launch options, you'll be set to get achievements
Hmmm, but still. There's an error as I set the set launch option, so it wont't trigger the achievement

if you messed something up in the copy-pasting, you can reinstall SMAPI no problem and get the text you needed to copy-paste

i'm having an issue, i just updated SMAPI and now my game gets stuck in loading hell
got the updated version of the game and... kinda curious about how there's 2 hairstyles.xnb files. i have a lot of different hairstyle pngs collected from different mods i merge for personal use and whatnot but the game should work fine even if i add more hairstyles beyond the original amount in the vanilla files right?

did you use any XNB mods? They would have gone into Stardew Valley > Content instead of Stardew Valley > Mods
i did not, and it was working just a few minutes ago before i updated SMAPI
the only thing I can think of resetting your game files anyhow, but hopefully someone else can chime in

What problems are you having, because i might have the same problem?
specifically, when i run stardew with smapi - even with no mods installed - controller input doesn't do anything
i've tried the fixes on the wiki, but the one that's supposed to be a last resort doesn't make any sense....
Find your game folder.
Open the StardewValley file (the one with no file extension) in a text editor.
Find this text:

i greatly prefer the modded sam from the previous version of the mod, which is why it hadnt been updated. could someone help me figure out a way to replace the portrait/sprite graphics for him?

the newest version of the mod has more config options for sam, so im not sure if the coding is different enough that just replacing the actual image files will mess something up
felix, if you just want to keep the old pics, you'd need to make copies of the images with the same name configuration as the new images, then overwrite the new images
note then that any time you update, you'd have to keep an eye on the sam images

hi, do you guys know if there are any map recolors that work with SVE? it's my first time using sve and i'm having difficulty finding mods that are compatible with it
I think most map recolors right now will give you visual glitches because of the 1.5 update, to add SVE on top of that reduces that list further 
not sure if people have posted in this channel saying they have a map recolor working with SVE and 1.5 though
i havent tried with 1.5, but daisyniko's map recolor used to work with sve

that's a weird one, hmm... can you try the "half and half" method? take out half of your mods, like A-N or something, then the other half. the easiest way to do that is to make a folder named something like .remove for testing (it can be named anything, it just needs to have the dot) and put mods in there

- AS notifies me when I begin a new day that horses were all corralled when a day ended.
- Horses had multiplied the following morning. I assume it's because of the end of the day warp? (triggered by the mod, not us)
- When closing the game (I'm host) and returning, my horses are back to the correct number

Hey everyone! Before I get too crazy with downloading a bunch of mods for SDV, I was wondering which is the preferred mod manager to use? ModDrop or Vortex? I tried downloading the mod zips manually but I ended up overwhelming myself with downloading too many at once, lol
Manual install is recommended above all, but for mod managers, ModDrop is recommended over Vortex
