smapi ignores mod folders that start with .. which is helpful for that sort of thing

I don't know what you mean, because I'm not familiar with any video guide. The wiki page covers all the steps and video guides can become outdated quickly, so definitely check when the video was posted, and rely on the wiki which is updated faster

you can break it by building it first than change the config later.

are you using a custom farm map? one that's not been updated since 1.5 is going to cause that since they changed how the greenhouse works

(Just to clarify because someone asked again yesterday, it's not related to the name of the .pngs in the folders, but just internal references inside .tbin/.tmx files, so not exactly a tilesheet issue but rather a map issue. )

Apparently TehPers.CoreMod was the violator messing up the crafting menu

Well it wasn't skipping it which was breaking that crafting menu
(presumably for precisely this issue)
so just remove it for now - iirc TehPer is trying to update it
"broken" can also be "loads but doesn't work/wrecks too many things"
On Nexus the only mod requiring it is Festive Slimes, and it sounds like you're not using that? So you should be able to remove it no problem
Teh Pers Fishing mod I believe used to require it but I think an updated removed the dependency but I never moved it out of the folder

quick question, how come some mods i download from nexus are a .x2m extension? i can open them like any zip file but i thought that was a file format specific to dragon ball xenoverse 2 modding
Sounds like you're using the mod manager download button, is that possible? (instead of manual download.)

Yeah, it's not about whether you have a manager, but just what the manager button does (normally your manager would take over those kinds of links, but when you don't have one you get "oh what is this file?"). Can you give an example of a mod that does this?
chose the pomeranian content patcher file, selected manual download
gave me "sir majestic potatoe - pomeranian doggo (BIG)-1853-1.x2m"
not every mod does this

(No one's going to call you stupid, but we can definitely establish that it isn't anything to do with the mod pages, so it's not something on the end of the mod authors'. The most likely cause was making a mistake because that happens all the time, but maybe there's something with Nexus or who knows. We get a lot of people that are absolutely adamant that they did or did not do something and then that ends up being the thing, so we just ask to definitely make sure.)
you just hit the button for noclip again. it's just that the 'noclip mode is off' message is disabled in the config-document by default.
as you can see it's .zip files for me

like just to be perfectly clear, i have done xenoverse 2 modding, its not like ive never done that, but i dont use nexus for that. theres a dedicated modding website for xenoverse 2
i could understand if it was trying to download through a mod manager but i dont have one, the tools i use for xenoverse dont go through nexus
it may have changed a setting on your browser when you installed that mod manager, and nexus is reading it and thinking it should serve you x2m files for the mod manager download, not impossible or anything

Hi I'm sorry to interrupt again but I didn't crash this time after removing Ento's Modding Utilities, I made it to the greenhouse safe and sound lol
yeah if the mod manager interacted with your browser, then when your browser interacts with nexus it might make the mod manager links work or somethign and then if you misclick it'd still download but give you the x2m
or just randomly tell nexus "x2m pls" without your knowledge

okay now this is weird. i actually did try hitting the download with mod manager button, and now it's trying to download it as a .nxm file, which defaults to trying to open it with Mod Organizer (which i used for skyrim like 2 years ago), which then tells me it doesnt have stardew registered
im so confused lmao

That's normal at least, but does just point to more strangeness with the manual version

It's just a type of link that gets associated with a program (your last mod manager in this case) so that's as expected

trying to just open the file will launch the xenoverse 2 mod installer which crashes because its not a xenoverse mod

Hello! I was hoping to get some help with SVE. I have it installed on my PC and it seems to work fine. But when I do the same exact files on my laptop, I am getting some errors with CustomMusic and TMXL
i hope so (to the 1.5.1) lol, it just updated in the background while i was looking at stuff lol
minor point releases 'usually' dont break things, and smapi will generally not try if it knows it will explode

Anyone have tips for transitioning to a new custom map? The one I use hasn't been updated for 1.5 so I'm considering swapping over to Immersive Farm 2 remastered but my barn and stuff will end up in the river.
you can try the map and see if it works, otherwise you're in for pain
There are mods out there that allow you to move buildings (move them ahead of time)
I had to fix that before I zipped it because I forgot the sprite to the left was only in spring, so I probably was just dumb and forgot to actually include the change in the zip

(It's not related to PyTK/TMXL at all - all it does is restore vanilla content after old mods revert it.)
Oh! That's a different spot, oops. Bad copy paste :) (The error itself is just a fail to patch, so it's not going to break anything, and even if you needed the fixes that particular patch is an aesthetic one.)
Basically for that section I took the 1.4 tilesheets and the 1.5 tilesheets, removed everything except the parts that changed in 1.5, then patched them in manually via CP (which is totally unnecessary unless you are clinging to some unupdated mod that erases those changes by replacing the tilesheets with old ones)

Similarly it manually patches in dropboxes for special orders to deal with outdated map replacers that are missing them

Hi, I am trying to redownload all my mods. And I uninstalled smapi and deleted it. Now I’m trying to re download it, and it’s saying that it’s ‘not commonly downloaded and may be dangerous’ and won’t let me download it.

it defaults to discard, there's an arrow yeah, to the right of it and you can say "keep"

Mm.. So it looks like Pokemania is the culprit for my NullReferenceException @ StardewValley.SpecialOrder.GetSpecialOrder crash. Removing it resolves the problem, yay.
So idk if i'm just downloading from the wrong place or something but this was the updated file from their website
Hm, usually that means the file is corrupted in some way. Have you tried grabbing it again, in case the download was damaged?

I just tried downloading it through Vortex and having it installed through Vortex and it still fails. I think maybe something is wrong with the file...?
It's just a zip file, so it should be fine with 7z. You can try just extracting it with the regular windows tools in case, I guess.

HmmmmmmmmmmMMmm. I always have various debugging mods installed and JumpOver kind of counts as that, but I also just really like prancing around. It's very satisfying, and is synced in multiplayer. (Not sure if Another Jump Mod is.) I really like being able to walk into the water to swim with Swim Mod. AnythingPonds. Oh, Festival of the Mundane of course. Lumi's toddlers. There are a couple farm maps I like a lot but since your farm map kind of defines your whole playthrough in some ways, I can't label it can't-live-without. All of Elle's Animals with A&S

also, did you delete your entire SVE folder and reinstall?
Quick(?) question. I tried using the PPJ Fruits and Veggies mod, using only the Winter crops and not the other crops... but when I tried planting the winter crops, once the day advanced all of them were gone. Am I missing something? I do have SpaceCore installed as well.

You need to reinstall SVE.
Look at the list of all your mods - it tells you each thing it has installed, but none of the parts of SVE are there :)

Can someone help me. I had tried to mod my server along time ago and gave up half way threw. And then forgot and while ago my brother wanted to play regular SDV with me and so when I tried to open it up this happened.
He figured out how to go into the files to enter the game but multiplayer never worked after that. Also idk what to do with the new steam set up

@dire fractal If you want to launch SMAPI, you can copy paste what's in your launch options here and we can start there. If you are trying to get rid of it, you should just be able to clear them altogether.

Right click Stardew Valley in your game library.
Click properties.
Erase everything in start parameters.

@fast river So I skipped ahead to see if the crops would do their entire cycle successfully... and while they did so, upon retrieving one of the crops the ground was replaced by an non-tilled spot with a pine cone. I have yet to try with a regrowing crop -- that's my next attempt.

seasoned-farmers is normally the place, but even there it's hush-hush with 1.5 being brand new

Yeah, basically people are still playing through new content so no spoilies at all in the newbie channel, but tag them in seasoned
(you can set DIscord to not show spoiler tags if you get tired of clicking them, hehe)

I'd be conservative with content mods though, since some of them may appear to work at first but revert changes and stuff, and it's much harder to pick them out in a 500+ mod list 😅

nothing is going to beep telling you that you overwrote your furniture.png with a blank bed texture, unfortunately
entorax framework is known to cause issues when walking near the greenhouse, yellog buildings is probably whats eating your bed texture
or the other furniture one

best bet is to delete that file and let it regenerate, what I meant was, while editing the file, you broke the json format it was, as such it then says it cannot parse it

new guy here. having a weird crash that i can't identify the source of. has so far happened with an old save and a fresh start. have updated all my mods, removed a couple of obsolete ones.
when i walk to the left on my farm, just as the cave entrance becomes visible, everything disappears off the farm, then the game crashes 10 seconds later.

also, if you have high-quality crops and are using vanilla kegs, have you tried Quality Artisan Products from ModDrop?
although PFM can do input x, output higher quality x stuff and iirc industrialization might do that?
its more a space saving issue re:higher quality casks, ie gold and irridium casks do 15/25 whatever recipes while still being 1 cask in size
that was the major feature of that cfr mod that never got ported to pfm

just tested on a different map to what i normally use
no crash on the beach map
my normal map is the OmniFarm Wilderness map replacement
maps can also also cause a similar crash related to the greenhouse becoming a building, but entorax also can

yeah, some people (me included) have gotten crashes from just Ento - but there's also farm maps and recolours that can cause crashing

@naive drum Do you have a crash log from any case of recolors causing the greenhouse crash? I'm sorry I keep on about this but recolors work completely differently from maps, the pack you said you were 100% positive was crashing was not a recolor and I had it installed myself, and every time I've asked for anything about it have gotten nothing. I'm not trying to be combative, just trying to identify actual problems that can be fixed instead of telling everyone they're crashy without any reason, you know?
(The error with map sheets is caused because the greenhouse is drawn from "tilesheet #3" for example and some maps have the wrong tilesheet as #3 because it's sorted alphabetically by internal display name.)

My farm buildables worked alright as long as they didn't have other issues (e.g. not being prefixed) but after corrin mentioned farmhouse being weird I tried some and yeah. hehe. I wonder if the disappearing ones there would come back after restart, since it happened every time I walked out

if you didn't reinstall smapi since 1.5 was out you do need to reinstall it indeed

Also im having a funny issue that I'm not sure what to do about. The flower valley dusty doghouse sits on top of where he is due to sve so the poor dog is trapped under his house
if some people are using it fine it's great 🙂 but this may explain why it's not something usually recommanded
I've used Vortex for Fallout 4 and had no problems, but for SDV I prefer doing it manually
I just already used it for skyrim. But i meant that if you make sure to delete the mod from vortex and it's archive (and make sure it's fully deleted in the folder), it generally causes no problems now

the rules for unofficial update :
- no post on nexus/moddrop or any site except the stardew forums
- letting the author be aware of the update (with a PR when possible) so they could use it if they're back
- i don't know who edit the wiki to link to the unofficial update, if you can do it or if it's only pathos
- some modders will be against their mods having unofficial update, or will not want it to be on the forum, so it may be good to check if there are wishes expressed just in case (i'm not aware of anything Loe said on such a topic, however)
this is the knowledge i have, and i never did unofficial update, so i may be missing important stuff
(there are also modders that are active and don't want unofficial to be done when they are working on updating stuff, but as far as i know this isn't the case here)

You can add . to the beginning of the folder name and SMAPI won't load it. You can also just move the folder to your Desktop or Downloads temporarily
Sounds like you're saying SVE does something to Dusty, so Flower Valley may not be taking that into account
well i mean that would fix it but i want to use flower valley with SVE is the problem,

first step is verifying what is indeed causing the issue
then you can try finding a workaround or a fix

For the mod compatibility textures, I've uploaded a separate .zip. Navigate to the mod, theme, and style folder of your choice in the .zip and copy/unzip the image files into the asset folder of the mod in your Mods folder and overwrite.
The Skipped mods section is where the action is. Those error messages say what's wrong and how to fix. Address those, then try again

Do you mean because you don't know where to add the file for the Tractor mod? Should be in the Tractor mod where the original tilesheet / png is

Yup! SVE wasn't loading because Json Assets (JA) wasn't loading, and JA wasn't loading because you were missing Expanded Preconditions Utility (EPU)
so I guess it works now, otherwise I'll let you guys know!

Can you send us the contents of your config file? There are options to pick which season grass can can live and grow in. Alse, when you initially installed More Grass, did you already have grass? More grass won't just magically create more grass, it's just a retexture mod
(it will allow grass to survive during winter IF there is a pack with grass texture right ?)

The game has default winter grass sprites (I can only assume it's cut content) so that's what it will fall back on in the instance of having no installed packs with grass sprites for winter, and winter is enabled in the config

content patcher is great bc it keeps track of things automatically for you
and it doesnt mess up the original files, so it's very very easy to undo a mod without retracing your steps and re-replacing files

it's highly suggested to use smapi for mods and you can have big negative effects with XNB mods
reskins are local - if you mod your horse appearance, your pal's horse appearance wont change unless also has the same mod
and people can't help fixing issue with those
^I know it's local, so I don't mind messing with sprite stuff, and i don't wanna risk online oof stuff if I do get more mods.

i think that, even if it's not great to share mod packs, if you copy the mod you use so your friend doesnt have to dl them and all, it's tolerated ?
my opinion is that using CP is safer than messing directly with files, and that it rarely if ever messes up multiplayer
plus maybe your friend discovers they love mods :)

It won't break your game. You can always try it and see if it looks ok. It seems it only replaces horse texture, so if you try it and something else has a visual glitch, you can just uninstall the mod no problem
We do recommend sticking to newer mods though, to avoid the glitches. If it's a code mod (C#), then be more cautious because those issues might be bigger than a simple visual glitch
