I’m slowly becoming more able to try and run 1.5, now all I’m really waiting for is RTF, Starblue, SVR2, Karmylla’s Immersive Maps, and Scrying Orb to update. But I already know a couple of those will take a very long time to be officially updated, if not unofficially.

I will probably start on Starblue tomorrow morning, but it's a busy time of year. My priorities for recolors are for areas that have mixed tilesheets (so that show mismatched tiles) and not new content, though.

1.5 adds ||home renovations through Robin's menu, where you can add 2 new rooms as well as demolishing crib and bedroom divider wall|| and the last farmhouse has a bigger map to account for it as well

SpaceCore was designed to replace code in 2 places while rewriting something, but now there's only 1 matching bit of code. Unless you see actual error it's probably fine, SDV's code changes over time & space tries to be safe about those

Idk if I should update SVO or just made a side-mod for the new character’s and their seasonal outfits. But then again all characters do have new sprites so I’m still at a stump if I should update it and ditch all the patches I made.

I expect NPC locations to be updated within a few days. Starblue I anticipate will get at least an unofficial update by the end of the year, but not within the next 24 hrs
Okay I found a temporary work around for now. I took out the 3 assets folders and put the ones from the previous version in. That works for now but I just won't be able to enable any settings for the island since those assets are likely not there now. But this should hold me until they can update the mod anyway.

You can rename the Mods folder, clear your launch options, or start the regular Stardew Valley.exe directly from the game folder.
or just dont load the smapi exe, I suppose

My game will launch now but no mods are active
All of the furniture I had placed outside pre-update turned into these default colored chests, I can't pick them up by hand or with a tool, any idea how to fix?

i think having steam workshop mods would be an issue - right now stardew mods can be arbitary code e.g. there is a mod that turns the entire game into pong
@cyan meadow The Android port for SMAPI has been behind on updates for a bit, so it might not be compatible with 1.5 for a while even after it comes out; we won't know for a while.
That said, I think it's usually a "SMAPI Updater" app that installs over the old version without any extra steps. Some individual mods do require deleting the old version from the Mods folder, but most can just be extracted & save over the old versions.

ZaneYork's port is the most recently updated, so if it supports your version, you download the APK from the GitHub link there (click [Expand] to see the outdated section, currently)
currently experiencing the chad of all smapi log problems: the crash was so big that smapi log cant load it
terraria doesnt rly use workshop for mods, mod browsing and installation is done directly in tmoadloader(terraria mod API)

what they did is to acknowledge the API as official, so they have a steam page, but is actually almost like a entire different version of the game and steam handles as 2 different games

If you check out the reasons for your mods not loading (in the red errors), you're missing that unofficial PyTK/TMXL, as well as PFM, which covers the bulk of them I think.

okay so half my mods aren't working because idk why! it was fine until i actually tried to run a game on beach farm and then the whole game fizzed out for a solid minute (im on mac), and the terminal shows a list of red text so long i can't load it in the smapi log 😔 does anyone know what to do in this situation

You can just rerun the installer to get your path. In this case the one people copy pasted to you happened to be the default installation, but a lot of people have it installed in different places, so it's best to get your path :)

my D drive doesnt have program files 86 so i had to remove that from the thing
@sweet bloom thank you so much. But what about my Smapi not working? I got the new version and try to launch the game but it keeps saying this Smapi is not for 1.5 but for 1.4 but it says 3.8 is for 1.5.
That's normal! That's SMAPI itself, running in the background to load up your mods and log everything and such :)

(Make sure you update SMAPI! You'll need to rerun the installer after downloading it and everything.)
@sacred wedge You can just rename your game folder, then get 1.5 fresh from Steam so you can have both :)

Stardew Valley is DRM free, so you literally only need to rename your game folder and you will be able to play 1.4 with those mods forever.

I hope it works for you, i have tested migrating from a partially completed vanilla CC and it worked perfectly. Completed bundles remain completed, and Partially completed bundles get swapped.

I dont know how hard Minerva's are, but these are pretty hard, and you can turn PPJA option on so it will include PPJA in the bundles, you will probably start delivering bundles by year 2, and maybe finish all by the end of year 3-4, but it all depends on your playstyle.
So I have tried to download the latest SMAPI file and when I try to run the installer, I am informed that it is blocked by windows defender due to a Trojan. Has anyone else gotten this?

Oh, i don't think you will need to restart if you don't want to, it should work just fine once its updated

I never really tried to use mods in MP before, beyond a few super basic things. Just wondering for those who experimented with it more.. is there a list of mods the host can safely run that'll work for everyone?
@fallow ridge what exactly are you looking for? I played MP with almost all PPJA mods and they work out great
almost all of them, there are a few that don't work, but they usually state that in their "issues" section, in mod page
i played with ~400 mods and had just a few bad apples
same with Stardew Expanded if that's what you're looking for as well!

usually the host should keep the mods updated and just upload a zip/rar file for everyone to download and extract

i dont personally know any of the modders for these mods, but Horse Whistle has been integrated in the main game, so maybe it will never be updated

Basically they've got some 1.5 fixes in place and recompiled to work, and most things work fine. Buildables seem a little buggy and in the farmhouse don't work, and I've asked that anyone running into issues with these versions ping me with log/description of issue (though I mostly asked in #making-mods-general because the issue is usually from something else and it's just PyTK/TMXL giving the error hehe)

Right, but you can sort recent activity on Nexus and check. Elle's was updated for greenhouse earlier today for example, though I believe another update is in the works for matching content

No, CP can replace whole files (in which case any pack that replaces the whole file of an updated one will revert new stuff at minimum), but it lets you also target just the things you are editing too, so many modders are very careful and selective about what/how they edit (like targeting a single sprite vs a whole sheet)

Not noticeably for the vast majority of cases (CP is patching them into that file), but the benefit is that your recolored furniture mod still works and doesn't for example make beds or new machines invisible 😅
thats pretty cool, the tools for modding SV have gotten really refined over the years :)
(plus it works much better with other mods, allowing people to mix/match more easily. Some mods of course still change lots of things though!)

yeah, the compat page says convenient chests is fine. it may have some small issues with UI scaling

i think i can do it manually, i was hoping i could just have everything in one place, ah well
i use to smapi before it was able to be on vortex, but i haven't played/update it an while and with this new update i figure i would try it vortex route

you can craft from chests touching workbenches while waiting for the mod to update
aquarium's issue is from More New Fish which trent is still working on! craft from nearby chests probably isn't working because of changes to the chest class in 1.5
I don't think they keep up on any mod specifics (we have Saint Pathos as benevolent go between for example) but just try to keep in mind suggestions and things like that that would help the modding community in general (or at least do least harm). Mr Podunkian did work with Mousey on Festival of the Mundane but I ... am not actually sure if he's ever played it haha, you'd have to ask 😄

There are a ton of modder friendly changes in this update though! (Check out https://stardewvalleywiki.com/User:Pathoschild/Modding_wishlist#Done_in_Stardew_Valley_1.5 for just the ones that were already wished for, not counting new moddable things)
you're getting JA errors from having 1.4 JA mods installed that added items that are also added in 1.5 vanilla
i think as in many modding communities, the developers are always aware of popular and cool mods, and they get inspired from time to time, so some stuff gets progressively added to the main game
like bananas and such
I don't know that the devs look to mods for inspiration so much as modders tend to develop mods for things they think would make the game more convenient/better etc, especially when lots of people want to do the thing, so when devs end up with their own solutions they're based on the same pool of suggestions/wishes/etc :)
Like people wanted a warp to the desert for a long time, so it was nice that that was added in 1.4, but I don't think had anything to do with the desert obelisk mod specifically so much as it was a natural addition.
idk, the rimworld dev has definitely taken some ideas from mods. Not sure about SV though, i feel like a lot of SMAPI mods go against what CA is trying to do with stardew
Sure, just clarifying because I think a lot of people have seen "oh this does vaguely similar thing" and thought "the mod was INTEGRATED" when that's not what happens with mods.

Bed has been fixed by removing the 2nd bathroom upgrade now i think the only issues is the PPJA seeds disappearing

taro root was added in vanilla, so it's throwing a lot of errors

there should be one under Crops and one under Objects, if you delete both folders completely it should work

The 1.5 update adds several new crops and recipes that share names with items added by Json Assets (JA) mods. PPJA has already been updated to fix the problems; if you're experiencing issues with items added by PPJA, please delete ALL folders related to PPJA mods and completely reinstall.
Bonster's Crops currently needs a manual adjustment to fix this issue. You will need to either wait for Bonster to put out an update, or manually delete the Taro Root folders from BOTH Crops and Objects within Bonster's Crops.

(Removing just one duplicate key issue would not be enough unfortunately, so you'd also need to temporarily disable Tropical Farm just to confirm the issue, then I assume remove the Oyster Sauce ( + any recipes that use it) from the pack whose version you don't want to keep.)

There was a conflict in both Eatums and Tropical Farm yeah. JA does not like duplicate keys. corrin pinged Para about the Oyster Sauce so if it's on PPJA's side I'm sure it will be fixed soon. And ssaturn has all the other PPJA versions, so likely to make one if it doesn't get changed on the other end? :)

silly issue, I started up SMAPI after downloading two mods(CJB Cheats 1.26) and the Anime Portraits mod from nexus. I launch Smapi and it says it launches with two mods, but niether are the ones i downloaded. They seem to be just standard things that are used by smapi
you generally wont get new defaults unless you delete configs
so if you dont download it, it wont change

vortex hasn't been working for stardew mods reliably - a bunch of people have been in here over the last 12 hours with mod problems that turned out to be due to vortex doing stuff like not installing the manifests

SVE isnt an installation, just remove the SVE folder from your Mods folder

For the most part -- "compatible" mainly means that it loads into the game without errors and doesn't cause any obvious/immediate issues, not that it's completely bug free or anything :) (It also only lists SMAPI mods and not content packs, which depend on their parent framework + what/how they change/add things.)

If you updated your game, you'll need to update, yes. Not every mod will need to update, but some of them most definitely will. You can check this list https://smapi.io/mods/ for compatibility status of every known SMAPI mod.

@subtle condor Oh, okay! So, if you've ever used mods on the save you're trying to load, what I would do first is... reinstall SMAPI if it's not installed, temporarily rename your entire Mods folder if you still have mods, then just run SMAPI if it's there.
If the save loads up fine, SMAPI will be able to remove any mod data from your save that would normally crash the game, so you can save and then try vanilla again. (Or just play with SMAPI but no mods, even.)

you just open vanilla SDV through Stardew Valley.exe, then load the save
SMAPI cleans up various things in your save that would otherwise crash the game, so that was the purpose of running it with SMAPI first
(It's not a guaranteed fix, especially for hugely modded saves, but it will generally handle the crashy parts. For bugged items and such you'd need to clean up with the mods installed first or edit the save.)

Hello! Does CJB item spawner gives notification to other players if you get an item?
One of your Json Assets packs is trying to add "banana" and "mango", which exist in the base game as of 1.5, so that might be causing JA to lose track of IDs. Updating as many mods as possible & removing the ones with error text may also help. I've seen people say ChestEx doesn't work currently, and Retro Active Achievements seems to have an issue there, etc.

hello for the past playthroughs ive used mods and took a break from a game and i wish to return to it now as a new update and wanted to do without mods so i took everything mod related out and changed the steam launch back to its og one and now it doesnt work at all
i can go through and find the game ( files ) and open it but it closes just before it loads in on a farm
if you're trying to load a modded farm, that's why, you would need to load smapi by itself and hope it can repair the save so it will load in vanilla

With SDVE rn You are going to need to use an Alpha version of TMX and PYTK

it's the TMXL portion of SVE
you shouldn't take out folders once u've unzipped a mod if I'm correct
it doesn't matter much whichever way you do it, but it's easier to manage the mod when all of its components are in the folder

I got the new Entoarox, which the smapi.io page says is compatible, but my smapi is calling it out of date? is anyone else having issues with entoarox 2.5 or is it just me?

Yea your log gives people a ton of information useful for troubleshooting, even if there aren't errors
Ok im currently running so i can get a new log, i might have ran the game with 2 copies of SDVE when i was trying to fix on my own, which obviously breaks just about everything
sad noises for having 63 mods installed, only 23 have an update lol
Note that some mods are actually more than 1 mod
i'm not going to update to 1.5 for a month at least
Stardew aquarium is 6 mods
true, because my mega pack mod includes about 5 mods or so
I have 443 mods installed and I'm also not going to bother with 1.5 for at least 2 months lol

But yea a mod may be "more than 1 mod" if it has multiple components, i.e. A Content Patcher (CP) component, a Farm Type Manager (FTM) component, and TMX component, etc.

No, if you have an invalid config.json, there's usually a message like "this is wrong, I'm gonna reset it to default" or otherwise say something
I just did
all my log says is: "[name mod], which couldn't be loaded"
I did a fresh install while we were talking, and it fixed my TMX not working
Yea you probably have what I call the "skipped mods domino" but that's not caused by config issues lol
I'm already close to starting a new save file and cry in a corner lol
One or 2 mods didn't load which stopped a bunch of others from loading

@azure seal the TMXL errors are from a missing file according to the log and according to you you are missing the files
causing your JSON assets to not be working
It's also that the screenshot simply doesn't have all the info the full log would, so it's good to share the full log

Yeah so, basically download zip unpack in the mods folder
But Ok4nd, you also have a lot of mods in the Skipped mods section, so after updating those 3 mods that need updates, you'll want to load again, get a new log, and go through the Skipped mods section to fix those

I'm downloading a bunch of additional mods that I needed, don't know why i never needed it before tho
We don't recommend sharing downloaded mods by uploading them like that, link to nexus is fine (permissions and all that)
It wouldnt let me upload the log the site was bugging out completly

The log might have been too long
Yeah I think that was the case
Sometimes it's too big and you have to copy-paste only some of it
You are also missing producer Framework
And Mail Framework
both of which havent been updated
so the mods that require those cant really be used
all my fav mods still bwoken
& not updated yet
