Yeah I know, been talking to Concerned Ape about it

can anyone tell me if any progress has been made with fixing the broken smapi for android? Its been a month with no fix and Zane hasn't given any solutions or updates to the situation in a week. I know it takes a while to fix things but a month? I just want to be able to play mods..

Named items like Wild Beast Wine will retain the value of whatever they originally were at least.
I'm still trying to figure out the exact issue with this one. I don't know coding, but I can see when I hover over the error, it triggers this problem. The wear more rings moves the area that triggers the issue.

Okay so I have a question. I’m new to using mods and I’m not sure how this will work. A friend wants to play with me, but he doesn’t use mods. Most of these mods are just visual mods, so it shouldn’t affect us playing together, he just won’t see the different textures I’m seeing, correct? Will any of these mess up us playing together? If so, how do I easily remove them/add them back for when I play alone on my other save file? Thanks in advance!!!
I’m pretty sure the visual mods would be okay. Mods like PyTK and SpaceCore could possibly crash or corrupt your game if not all players have them. I would recommend creating a separate modpack with just the visuals and swap them out, or use the https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Can_I_have_different_mod_groups.3F method.

Gotcha. So if I put those into their own modpack/folder, I should just be able to drag that specific folder out of the mods folder when I play with them, add it back when I play alone... am I understanding that right?

don't even have to drag them, just rename the folder to start with a dot
on that note, i suggest removing all that numbers detrius from the folder names, especially if you're doing subfolders - there was someone in here just yesterday with a subfoldered mod with such a long file path it actually prevented their game from starting

How do I play multiplayer on it/How do I set the launch options to it on steam?
Ive looked at the offical guide, but i downloaded Smapi through vortex so I cant use the installer info to set it there
So, just a quick referring to mods and MP. If there is a walkthrough somewhere for this, please by all means just direct me there. How, exactly, does one go about using mods in SDVMP? If I have them installed, and im the host, should my mods, in theory, then be present for other players. In this case, the other players would have no mods installed atall.

aesthetic mods will only apply to you, mods like CJB cheats will apply to everyone (so if you want to freeze time, etc)

does anyone know of a mod that gives you friend levels with a npc for being near them almost like you are spending time with that character so it boosts your friendship?
never heard of one. Closest thing I know of is Part of the Community, which gets you extra points for miscellaneous things; like if they see you interacting with other villagers
Anyone know a good cabinet space mod for the kitchen I feel like there use to be one and I can't remember what it was?

I remember there was like a functional kitchen mod I used a couple years ago where the cabinets on the far wall of the kitchen were useable for storage like a chest. I don’t however remember where it blew I found it and have some switched computers and no longer have the hard drive that it was stored on

wainscotting is really cool
events won't be messed up but you'll lose some continuity for stuff that happens on specific dates. also some events are year one only so there's that.

I run with a reasonably confined list right now, only 59, which are mostly sort of Vanilla+? Some graphics, a bunch of QoL tweaks, a single NPC + Jewelcraft. I'm planning to branch out to about half the PPJA pack + Aquarium + the Walk to the Desert set once I finish my achievement run, so that'll add a big chunk.

is there a way to make custom npc on android? and are we able to use mods on android-
if you have an pixel image program and a text editor, theoretically you can make an NPC mod using a phone. In practice, you're making it quite hard on yourself
Though you can create an NPC mod on PC, and it'll be compatible with Android (once SMAPI on Android is updated for the latest game update).

Hm. I'm using mouseypound's Stardew Checkup to see what recipes I've missed for the Crafting Achievement, and it says 2 mod recipes. I don't suppose there's any way of telling which ones?

Oh, actually there's a few others. You can search "Health Bars" on https://smapi.io/mods/ to get a list; they should all be pretty much equivalent, so you can just pick whichever looks best.
there was some mods that were just showing me '?' marks
I think they have an option to change that.
It's been a while since I used them, but I think by default the ? goes away when you kill them once to 'learn' their HP (or possibly just when you hit them)?
Sadly it doesn't, but I'm pretty sure I've narrowed down which mod the last missing one is from, even if I'm not sure which recipe. There's only 5 options, I'll work my way thru.
Oh, makes sense that it couldn't know which custom mod recipes are missing since they're not listed in the save.

Mr Ginger is the only NPC I currently have installed. I'm eying off Lucikiel to add at some point though.
Lucikiel is pretty awesome. I have 75 friendable NPCs now.
I would bluescreen with that many XD It took a while to get comfortable with the base game, I'm gonna add NPCs slowly so I don't overwhelm myself trying to friend everyone at once

I mean I have an npc portrait mod, which changes the skins of the npc. Then, I downloaded the npc seasonal outfit mod. It changes the skins to normal(with new clothes.)

Yuo can overwrite old one but it's a good habit to delete the old one before pasting new version

That log is still a bit incorrect. And by the time on it, it looks like the same log as earlier. I have a question though. Does the update check remain after restarting the game? Or is it just happening on repeat?

I’m seeing a reoccurrence with the logs you are sending. By the looks of it, the old console text with the update on it is being pasted on? And then the file is uploaded.

Here’s the problem with that. When you reload the game to send the log this time, don’t paste it on. Let the game load up, close it, and then send the file through the log parser.

I’ll send over an example of one my logs. Tell me if it looks anything similar to the one you just parsed. That’ll tell me if you are parsing it correctly so I can really help you.

So I'm sure this has already been answered but how to mods interreact with existing co-op farms? Do i have to uninstall/move my mod folder so it doesn't affect my existing farm?
it only affects saves that are loaded
so if you dont touch a save, it wont be affected

^ this will help! are you using automate and specifically the PFM automate bridge, and do you have a lot of machines clustered together? that's a common cause of lag like that
I am running a fair amount of mods, including PPJA ones. In multiplayer, my friend is using all the same mods.
I picked a hibiscus from a hibiscus tree and gave it to my friend. They received a payaya dish.
How would I go about troubleshooting or fixing this?
I'm only using Unlimited players
unfortunately that just kinda happens sometimes, it will likely sort itself out within a couple of ingame days

yeah, if they have crashes or issues, find out what items are wonky for them and dump them (chop down the hibiscus tree, spawn a new one and instant grow it, etc)
hmm okay, if you can try following those steps from the quote above and post a log, we might be able to figure out more about what specific things are lagging out your game
Cool, that's easy enough. If it becomes a meaningful issue I'll look up how to do that, good thinking. For the moment, I'm not that concerned unless it becomes pervasive. We had a more of mods so it's not really shocking
the biggest thing to look out for that may be actually breaky is honey--if a modded flower is being weird for them and they pick up the honey from it, they can crash and be stuck unable to rejoin until the host ships or throws away the honey item
Should I play til it lags or I can just send the log?
(it's also possible sometimes for bee houses to randomly decide a vegetable is a flower and then yell at you about it, i got hemp honey once)
it's best if you play till it lags yeah! do the performance enable command right away though

I think the honey bug may actually be somewhat fixed?
I got glitchy honey earlier in a singleplayer save, but instead of the old behaviour of spamming the log with errors when moused over and having no name or description pop up at all it was just named ???
i haven't played multiplayer in a while so i'm not sure tbh, i've never had glitchy honey in singleplayer

i've had to toss multiple chests over it
there was also the Tuna Chest incident, that was hilarious to watch
tbh it's probably because i never get enough maple syrup to make a bunch of bee houses

(i say i've never gotten glitchy honey in singleplayer. i haven't gotten glitchy honey that is actually real honey but i have gotten lots of craftables named weeds honey before space finally patched it out, rip)

i went to under leahs house, just been getting sunfish, bream and chubs

see if i fish anything other than trash
butterfish are profitable, thats the place you can catch them early game
your fishing level is why you're only getting trash there
well im 3 now, next day i just got there we'll see
you'll need a higher level to fish there and not get trash
a fishing buff food would probably help, too

what probably happened there is that you have the SMAPI installer in the mods folder
you don't need to keep the installer around, and it's an installer and not a mod so it has no manifest.json

So do I put Custom Music, CustomNPCFixes, and Stardew Valley Expanded into the mod folder, or do I drag the first two in, and then all the folders within the last one into mods?
Rn if I do the former way, I get an issue where smapi spits errors about fish not existing (and after the tutorial fish I literally only get trash). Not sure if its a mod conflict or an installation problem and wanted to check before I start black boxing stuff
Im a little suspect of the first way as well, mainly because Stardew Valley Expanded doesnt have any manifest in it, although not sure if smapi searches recursively tbh
Immersive Farm 2 Remastered has a similar thing, but the github installation instructions doesnt mention moving those folders out

It's not happening at the moment (but I doubt that'll continue). Basically for two days straight of pure fishing I only caught trash without fail. In the console smapi said something about some fish (like clownfish I think) not being able to be moved due to not existing or something like that

1.5 should still be a month or more away, so it should still be safe
It's hard to say. I personally plan to wait at least 2 months after the update is released to give mod authors time to update their mods
But you can definitely play right now. I don't think we have a firm release date for the update
You can also make a copy of your entire game folder to be able to still play 1.4.5 if you wanted!
it also depends on the mod; as far as I know, most CP mods are future-proof, but SMAPI mods will need an update. Pathos also does a great job of updating a lot of the more popular mods before the next update
it still requires reinstalling those mods so that they'll work properly, but at least you won't have to wait two months for them to be fixed

You could also just remove the mods that aren't working properly, to be fair 🤷 you're not required to wait, it's more a thing to do if you absolutely want those mods, and the mod authors are planning on updating

I only want SVE, DVSO (and other seasonal outfit mods), and my dialogue/event mods
I could do without the QOL mods and whatnot, even the building mods, as long as I have those.
Also to clarify, while Content Patcher itself is pretty much future proof, because Pathos is an angel, the individual CP mods may not be. I remember after the big update in Nov 2019, there were SMAPI mods and CP mods alike that were busted. Just depends on what you use. For example, A Less Yellow Stardew, which is my favorite map recolor, wasn't updated for the 1.4 update, so there's a couple visual glitches. I love it and use it anyway, even tried to tweak it for myself.
There were also several SMAPI mods that I used and loved that were never updated, and that's ok. Some I removed, others actually had new mods that replaced them (Kisekae was replaced by Get Glam, and Phone Villagers was replaced by Mobile Phone, for some examples). So it's not all doom and gloom! Lol

speaking of Get Glam, do I still need that now that 1.4 added tailoring? There're also a bunch of clothing mods for JSON Assets
I don't actually use Get Glam because I use Customize Anywhere instead (with a CP hair replacement, JA clothing, and Tailor Mouse), but it provides a different way to access clothing outside of tailoring. So it's not a "need" (really, no mod is o.o), it's a preference.
I'll probably still use it until I get enough clothes (and a dresser to hold them all), since I like changing every day

that mod (and 99% of the others) requires SMAPI and Content Patcher, which bypasses the game files (while also overwriting them); you shouldn't mess with the game files.

for quality of life, I've found Chests Anywhere (I use the balanced version; just being able to sort into different chests within your own house is a lifesaver) and Horse Whistle are wonderful
Everlasting Tackles is a nice mod for enhancing fishing too. Once your fishing skill + friendship with Willy and Linus are high enough you get a questline to craft versions of the fishing tackle and baits that don't wear out. They're expensive, but you only have to do them once, and they function like the original ones. So it doesn't change the gameplay but it's a nice convenience factor.
Lookup Anything is also handy. It doesn't do anything itself, but it's basically the contents of the wiki put into your game, so you don't have to pause and go look up gift tastes or the recipe to craft something

i'm really sorry to bother someone again, but does anybody know how I can get a fresh start in SMAPI? I had it installed before hand with my old mods over a year ago and now most of them are outdated. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new version and verifying the integrity of the stardew files to get rid of any mods but no dice :c they're still there

Mods that both alter the same asset are incompatible. The last one to load will be the one visible. You could mix and match them in your own pack or convert them to Customize Exterior.

SMAPI still works on PC. Most mods for PC work fine on Android so you don't have to develop specifically for it.

I've tried to delete the Mods folder entirely and have used Steam to verify the integrity of my files for Stardrew Valley. I've also uninstalled, and reinstalled the game, as well as uninstalling SMAPI and reinstalling it. There's a few ways. You can search for Stardew Valley or launch your game and get a SMAPI log. It'll say where the mods are being loaded from near the top. You can see if that's the same folder you're removing them from.

Which API does SMAPI run on?
I figured out that weird error I was having with universe boots and wear more rings (where the boots disappeared). I had removed some TMX areas from added NPC. After I put them back, everything worked again.
SMAPI is an API. It stands for Stardew Valley Modding API. Do you mean what it's written in?

That's different than an API or what it's written in. It's asking about the game itself not SMAPI.
I think I used Direct3D 10? If it doesn't work you can always reinstall reshade with a different one.

For Reshade yes, but there's instructions on the mod page for the preset you linked that'll tell you how to install it.
I turned off the chromatic effect on mine, with my HDR monitor it just made everything fuzzy. I've been using it for about a week with Starblue. Works pretty well.

If you have an old version of the game, you could be able to run SMAPI on android. But it doesn't work with the current one, it needs an update.

When 1.5 comes out, would I have to hold off updating it because of my mods?
Some mods likely will need some time but most major framework is usually updated very fast and not all mods will break with the new SV version. We'll see how it'll be this time cx

It shouldn't be as bad as past updates. All of Pathos's mods and SMAPI are updated day 1. SMAPI has heuristic rewrites now so that'll help to a degree. Content Patcher has been in place for 2 years and most of those mods should still work with minimal errors.
A good portion of us are taking the day off from our irl jobs to focus on getting updates out as well ASAP.
Loading up SDV for the first time after configuring all the reskin mods I added. This is like christmas

@keen moss Does machines add a new keg & loom or does it add more functions to the existing ones?
It used to add a new one when it used CFR but now they're integrated to the vanilla keg & loom since PFM can target vanilla machines.

Nope. The mill is still used for rice.
I have a rule in there so you can use it for flour but I should remove that. Edit: It'll be removed in a future update.

To update SMAPI, download the new version and run its installer, it'll clean up the old version automatically.

It's not that hard but some folks would rather farm than fight monsters

Most mods actually work on all OS. That one is Windows only because it uses Reshade, which is another program that's Windows only.

The internet tells me that slime hutches are a waste of time, you can’t profit off of them, and I can’t even find evidence that white slimes exist. But if white slimes do exist and they can theoretically drop diamonds 100% of the time... well... the sky's the limit.

No issues as far as I'm aware.
The SVE spouse rooms are their own map that's patched into the farmhouse. Nothing in SVE edits vanilla spouse rooms.

Can anyone tell me how SVE is incompatible with Farmhouse Redone? I was using them together for a while, but I didn't notice any problems. But I don't want to mess up my game if it's just a matter of time or something
I think FHR in general is just an unstable mod that's bound to cause problems
