and I already started my new playthrough, would adding one now change anything or work?
Not necessarily, but I have heard that many mods "break" warping in to the Greenhouse?
Like, you just appear in the middle of the room

Yeah, changing map mods mid-game doesn't change the coordinates of any objects placed on the map, like berry bushes, grass, trees, crops, placeable buildings (eg coops), etc
...but to fix that, you can use "Reset Terrain Features" 
I changed the map of the secret woods mid-game and there was a row of bushes in the middle of a new path. Using that reset them as if I had started a new save

I try to keep it mostly vanilla. But before it became incompatible with my modlist, I remember Teh's fishing overhaul being a really good remaster of the fishing system.
The tractor mod is a really good addition that's a new thing.

Is it ok to rename folders in the mod folder? I'm approaching 300 mods and the mod folder is starting to look... messy.

normally yeah. it can change the loading order of some mods but usually it isn't a problem
although i'm not sure if changing the order of json assets mods can mess up the ids in an existing save. that would be my primary concern i guess
uh is it okay if I put on a greenhouse mod and I already have stuff inside my greenhouse?
as far as i know your existing stuff will be on the same coordinates in the new greenhouse, so some strangeness can happen. but you can test it and revert back to the original before saving to make adjustments to your setup if it's necessary

and there are mods allowing you to transplant crops and such
another option is using a cheat mod to grow everything that is in the greenhouse, harvest everything then replace it
depending of the amount of convenience and cheat you want
does anyone know if there are any planned replacements for the twitch integration mods? i was using them for awhile but they both broke after the last major update. (the weather changer and the you've got mail extensions). i know one was reliant on "bookcase", the other i'm not sure what it used

So I started my playthrough like yesterday and only on day 5, but the SVE 1.11 update is coming like today or tomorrow.
FlashShifter said "Old saves are compatible, but for IF2R players will need to remove all their stuff from the shed.", but should I just delete my save and wait for update then make a new one or just continue with my current save ?

- Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion
- Angry Grandpa - Farm Evaluation Overhaul (i made this one)
i like some of the mods made for the summer event
But it requires alot of other mods.
like the aquarium and surfing festival

That message means the installer can't find the game, so you need to paste the full path. That'll be something like C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Desktop\GAME_FOLDER_NAME (replacing YOUR_USERNAME and GAME_FOLDER_NAME with the correct values).

If you want to recolor your greenhouse with IF2R, you have to install the greenhouse mod in a special way in overrides folder

@outer chasm longevity is very outdated and we don't recommend using it, since it still replaces XNB files afaik. the quote above has lots of alternatives that do similar things!

How to update SMAPI and Content Patcher? Just swap files?
you can swap or overwrite Content Patcher. For SMAPI, run the installer. It'll automatically remove the old files and install the new ones
in general, as long as the mod author doesn't specifically say to remove the old files before installing the new ones, you can overwrite safely

Which mod would be responsible for recipes not disappearing from shops once I've bought them? Is that STF?
STF is just the framework mod to add / modify shops, so it wouldn't be responsible for that
A mod that is made to use STF framework might be responsible, depending on what recipes they are
it's odd though, I figured that would be hardcoded behavior, that the recipe disappears from the shop after you've bought it 
Even restarting the game won't make bought recipes disappear
Let me see if I can track down which one. xD

for the most part, yes! the only one I can think of that you'd need to do some extra finagling is Stardew Valley Expanded (SVE)
but the install instructions cover what to do to add it to an existing save
A select few mods will require special install instructions for existing saves, and occasionally there are some that don't work at all unless it's a new game

But if it doesn't say otherwise in the description, you can usually assume it's perfectly fine to add whenever.

SVE is the only big one that comes to mind
maybe the toshi npc, though he's designed to work in existing saves too iirc
switching farm maps or greenhouse maps (if you're already using the greenhouse) typically take some extra steps on an existing game, but easily doable all the same

the other two caveats would be:
-if you're adding a new JA mod (or updating one and it adds new objects), your item display names may be a little bit scrambled for an ingame day or two, but nothing will break break
-and yes like jonqora said, for anything that changes maps you'll want to download Reset Terrain Features and reset bushes and trees so nothing is blocked or clipping through a building

or i guess not reading carefully and adding something that has a duplicate item name
(most non-JA mods are fine to remove mid-game without any complications or fuss, but again, always read mod descriptions.)
the only two i can think of that haven't had that problem fixed are the espresso machine mod (don't download it, if you want the espresso machine and its products use artisan valley bc it's part of that now) and kimchi maker (you can still use it with PPJA, you just need to manually change a couple of object names bc the author never uploaded a compat version)
yes please, if mod authors wrote a thing about their mod, it's a good call to read it to ensure you have a good time and not a bad time

If you want to document JA mods you could make your own spreadsheet. It's not ideal which is why when Mousey released his we stopped using them for PPJA but they are effective at communicating information.

Well, Vortex isnโt really recommended for SDV mods (due to bugs, errors, etc.). But if you still want to switch to Vortex, someone else here can help.
There arenโt really any for Stardew that wonโt mess things up.

What are you needing a manager for? For most people, manual ends up being the least work overall (sometimes with multiple mod folders)

nvm, all i really wanted was the ability to disable and auto unzip mods into my mods folder
I use Vortex (and deal with its fiddly bits) because I am testing mods a lot and very often activating and deactivating whole swaths of different mods for testing
just to save some minutes of updating mods every 5 days
Tbh though I only go and update all my mods like... once a month, unless I need an update for a new mod or a new feature
or a bug fix

When you activate mods in vortex, they get copied from the staging folder to the mods folder, overwriting anything that might be in the Mods folder.

@dawn nymph I think the leaf clovers are from Eemie's Map Recolor or Flower Valley, one of those 2. They replace the little worm / stem dig spots

Mmk, not what I expected to happen... I decided to play SDV today, and a couple of bugs popped up. Kim won't appear in her room, the Lunna mod just had a meltdown of errors, a series of texture errors appear around Zoro's room, I can't open my menu, and my path replacer mod stopped working. 
Another day of crashing the game

Well, some of the other errors I've noticed are a [game] error where the menu won't open, and it seems like MarriageDialogue is not loading.
You should take the Lunna mod out of the nexus archive folder
for the marriagedialogue i guess either you or the mod authors need to modify it to work differently. i'm not sure the mods should replace Characters/Dialogue/MarriageDialogue anyway

hello, i was looking at the Stardew Valley Planner layouts, the unofficial ones, and i saw a farm map i would love to get, unfortunately, im having a hard time trying to find it, its the very last map in the list, in order to see and click on it, i have to the zoom setting set to 67% and i can barely see the name, its like cherryblossom, except the blossom part isnt exactly spelled blossom, it looks like its spelled cherryblossunhh
would someone mind helping me find this mod? so far it doesnt seem to be on nexusmods

@gray sapphire you do have two copies of custom npc fixes, these are the locations: Mods\1.3.36-CustomNPCFixes-1.2.0\CustomNPCFixes and Mods\-Stardew Valley Expanded-1.10\CustomNPCFixes. custom npc fixes isn't being loaded because of that and it's preventing the content patcher portion of SVE from loading, which causes tmxl to freak out
Seems like you need to reinstall SVE, but right now the page is down.
If you still have the zip file from when you first downloaded it you can use that

For some reason, I seem to require 99 Salmonberry for a Spring Foraging bundle
(i either used it in the past or are currently using it now - there's two PPJA bundle mods and i've tried both)
I really need this to be lowered
you will get a lot of salmonberries from berry bushes, i regularly easily get several hundred in the first spring alone
somewhere in the content.json there will be Spring Foraging Bundle and somewhere in that block of code there is a 99
and you can change that 99 to something that isn't 99
99 salmon berries is really not much tbh if you have the foraging levels you can get 300 quite easily in one day
i always hated the apples in the community centre bundle
because its hard to get all in on the trees first year at least for me and the bat cave is pretty much the only way to get them otherwise

One bug occurs because its not compatible with another mod, but thats alright. If I start from day 1 the entire furniture is messed up and placed wrong and this happens every year I pass and the second one is that if summer starts there is wood blocking my path to enter the cellar. Several people seem to have the second Problem

Hey guys! I have a question. I have a modded save file and Iโm aware that 1.5 will be coming out sometime in the future. I heard that base game updates can mess with the mods and corrupt your save file. I donโt want to have to reset my save file. So is there any advice as to keep my progress when the game updates? I wanted to get all the information I can possibly receive so that I know what to do.
generally the best way is to wait some time after the game updates for all your core mods to be updated as well

I think you'd need to edit the mod in question more heavily than just using the mod usually entails, you'd have better chance of finding help in #making-mods-general in that case @dire fractal
@violet crown yeah that's a good idea for when you want to play again but aren't sure if all the mods that would break stuff got updated. altho remember that even if you find something broken still, there will be no long-lasting consequences if you don't save over the pre-update state of things. so generally a good idea on your first post-update ingame day is to spend it looking through the game functions and the log to see if anything looks especially weird.
Ill probably just talk to yโall once the update comes out to see if you guys are having problems because that seems like a lot to me lol
generally best strategy is to wait a couple days, most big mods that would break something major get updated within a week

If you rename your game folder, that should stop it being updated when the new version comes out. You could then download a "new" copy of the updated game, if you want to play the update as well as your old save. Just make sure to only load the saves using the right version.

The Authors just put their Mods on hidden you ain't missing anything. For SVE its because of Update which is coming hopefully soon and I think minerva switched to ModDrop (but I could be wrong)

For PPJA you can add it whenever but since a lot of recipes are behind letters you might be bombarded with them all at once, especially when seasons change. If you can handle that for a year then youโll be fine.

If you want to get the same features as Longevity but with more content and not use XNB files there's a list of alternatives in the quote above.

Ideally yes. The objects that spawn from it won't appear without it since they're set to EnableWithMod if you have it, but you'll eventually be missing out on some future content.

@crimson flicker CJB Cheats menu has an option to mark a quest 'complete'. I usually do that if I am running custom NPCs which don't show up! (there is also a debug command if you prefer using the SMAPI console)
@meager dove I don't know that mod specifically, but there are a lot of aesthetic mods on the Stardew naver forum which aren't published on Nexus. It's in Korean though, and you have to sign up for a LINE account (or sign in if you already have line on your phone and then join the chat room)

It wouldn't be a lot of code - a very simple CP mod - but a lot of art editing!

also, if you have just installed it I'd suggest letting the author know as it is probably because they loaded a tilesheet incorrectly when they made the map. it is very easy to make that mistake!

Possibility 1) you downloaded the newest SMAPI install folder into your mods folder. Don't do that. Put it somewhere like Desktop instead and run from there
Possibility 2) You have multiple copies of the game installed, and you updated smapi to one copy but are launching the other copy.
Possibility 3) You didn't actually download the latest smapi 3.7.4, double-check maybe

On your desktop, there is a folder called "Stardew Valley"
delete that entire folder and everything inside it

Have you set up to launch through steam before?
Yes, you can set up to launch smapi through steam though, it allows you to still get steam achievements when you play if you're interested in that

The new update must change alot if it's taking this long to update

SVE is a really big mod managed by 1 person, so yeah
And someone found a crash-to-desktop bug so now that needs fixing before it gets updated

OK I found the right command to use
If you launch the game with SMAPI, open your savefile, and type this in the SMAPI console, it should work

I wonder about the other achievements you said you got. Most achievements have both an in-game badge and a Steam equivalent
yes they do
as i said this is my main game
so i got 36/40 steam acheivements in it
If you launched the game via StardewModdingAPI.exe without steam, you would get notifications for the in-game achievement, but they might not register on Steam (depending on your platform I think)
yeah, before the debug command, it did not register in neither one of them.
Stardrops is Steam-only, so there is never an HUD pop-up for in game badge
that was the only achievement i had trouble with

I'm really just looking around on nexus. There doesn't seem to be many. I swear I was using one by Minerva, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Either I remembered wrong, or it was taken down. But that was a farmhouse redone mod too. I didn't experience any problems with it, but everyone was saying it got buggy after you expand or something, because FHR is very buggy

i ended up changing the floors by going in the pngs and editing them, but i don't think you want to do that
I don't have very good image editing softwere tbh... but is it possible to take pngs from wallpaper/floor mods and replace them in the assets? Or do I need to modify the tbin thing?

@olive sphinx those PFM packs have incorrect capitalization in files ProducerRules.json and/or ProducersConfig.json, and since you're on mac that probably was the problem. i saw in smapi 3.7.3 release notes that capitalization doesn't matter for content packs anymore. did you have the mods before, or was it the first launch after installing the mods when you got the errors?
Anyone attempting to use the latest Warp Binder or Map Binder mods I must apologize for the last build (1.5.0/1.3.0), I messed up the packaging and it became unable to load. I have pushed a hotfix and removed the offending builds.

Alright. Well I have the most recent versions of SMAPI and Stardew Valley, (3.7.4 and 1.4.5) and when I run it on Steam, I get the error message: Oops! You're running Stardew Valley 1.3.36, but the oldest supported version is 1.4.1. You can install SMAPI 2.11.2 instead to fix this error, or update your game to the latest version.

You may also want to check this list of XNB > Content Patcher conversions (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods#Alternatives_using_Content_Patcher) to see if there are already replacements for any XNB mods you may have been using :)
OR you might have 2 copies of SDV installed on your computer. Happens to people sometimes by accident

There are many! Search "NPC" on nexusmods should turn up a ton
