I tried removing and adjusting so many damn mods, it was a hard cap as far as we could tell

I think that's technically possible with More Than Necessary (MTN) from the map mod author end. I know someone's specifically working on a mod that would allow you to put "farm" buildings off-farm, but that mod is still being developed, so it's not yet published.

Technically yes, but there's a plugin you need to get. If you search in #archived-modded-support for messages from Patchier#6969, they've written about it here before
im just installing them to the mods folder in steam but i don't think they're working. they're simple ones like winter grass and experience bars but not quite sure what the issue is
oh, if you're manually placing them in the Mods folder, you don't need to use a mod manager (unless I misunderstood). You can verify they're loading by checking the SMAPI log

I think they did before I booted Nexus, but I've been unable to mod for a while. My health declined and then COVID turned work into literal hell. I have a bunch of bug fixes to do for various mods, but I also can't really test since my mod loadout broke everything :/

Well, most mods for Stardew Valley are published on nexusmods, so you'll need to make an account sooner or later if you want to use many of the mods there.
Despite how the sign up page looks, you don't need a paid account. Free one allows all the access you need, although the ads that run rampant throughout the site can be very annoying.

Honestly I just stay signed in on Nexus on my phone (for browsing) and computer (for downloading). You'll also need an account if you want to use mods that have unofficial updates on the forums (for Chucklefish at least. Not sure about the new SDV forums). I see it as a relatively small requirement. I also use a password manager though

does anyone have any recommendations for expanded maps? I was using one of Ace's MTN expanded map, but it's a little buggy and it seems that MTN is in general... but Immersive Map for SVE is too structured for my taste. I would prefer a map where I can design it from scratch.

@past latch one I like is the A Larger Hilltop Farm. It's based off the normal hilltop map but improved and like twice as big
I have over 100 accounts to so many different sites, across the board, and only the most important have unique passwords anyway 😂
Always make sure to periodically export your password lists onto an external drive (or print them out) in case something happens.
The unique, most important ones I have in a list separate from the password manager. The rest are "uhhh let's try 3 different ones and if none of those work, it's reset time 😓"

I like Farm Extended as well! It's the one I'm currently using, but I'm honestly not sure if it's actually bigger than the vanilla standard one, because it doesn't change any warps lol but Jonqora seems confident!

I redesigned the hilltop portion, allowing player access. A feature coming as well!

Yeah, ladders can be climbed on. They also make the wood sound and forage can't spawn on them!

Looking like in a week. Beta testers have found a lot of crashes, freezes, and glitches I've fixed. I think I'll probably release the beta changelog alongside the final release patch notes.

expect roughly half of mods overall to need updating, give or take. It will depend on each mod author how quickly they get updates out, if one is needed for compatibility.
There will be release date mentioned and pathos will put up an update guide

i just copied the current version from the steam common folder to a different place so steam wont bug me to update the one that all 100 mods im currently using works on xD
Yeah, you can play out of a different directory, or disable auto-update leading up to the release date
Or there are always ways to download previous versions of Steam games if you dig into it
(official ways, just lacking a nice user interface)
Generally ja packs work through modbupdayes unless one of their items got officially added
Eg every ha pack with bananas or used for bananas will need updating to account for vanilla s bananas

Maybe the mod isn't set up well for desert trader? I know that shop is kinda unique since the currency isn't coins
So i'm playing with SVE and I missed the event where ||Mayor Lewis opens up that abandoned crop field in year 2 of spring|| is there nothing I can do now since I missed it?

weird! there's a second image next to the stone but i assumed it was an artifact since a lot of the images on springobjects aren't used in game. i'll have to make another one to work with this i think!
Silly question. How does the JJory Wedding Set mod work and, by extension, how does TMXL tool kit map thing work? I've googled, and read the nexus description and nothing tells me straight forward how use it in laymans terms
those are buildables, right? if you have the wedding set and TMXL installed, i believe the default key is F2 to open the buildables menu and obtain the furniture
you just click the one you want and place it on the map

suggestion: get whoever has the steam account to log in and on their computer account, while logged into steam, copy Stardew's entire folder somewhere else on the computer

@serene oriole unfortunately, that's a known bug with the map mod you're using. MTN itself is buggy and not maintained, and the PK5 map seems to cause that major breaking bug. unfortunately, you'll need to use a different map mod most likely

hmm, iirc i asked pathos a while back about where an annotated log might fit on the wiki, but i can't remember what exactly he said. i think it would definitely be useful to have that on its own page though! what you can do is draft it on your own personal wiki page? like your profile thing? and when you have it formatted and are happy with it, you can ping pathos and ask where it should be categorized

Hey yall, I hope this is the right place to ask. The event has me playing the game again, and I've moved PC's and none of my mods came over successfully. I've found all but one, and can't remember its name to find it. You hovered your cursor over a planted crop, and it showed you the name and when it would be fully grown. Anyone know it?
Perhaps UI Info Suite has that feature?

I had Simple Crop Label before I discovered UI Info Suite, which changed my life lol

json assets - basically any mod that adds crops or foods etc. uses json assets to add them to the game
It also can add trees, shirts, boots, hats, bigcraftables, weapons, and soon fences.
Is there a mod that lets you reduce the quality of an item by one tier? I can only find mods that reduce the quality to the lowest

that's not its main function, but you can 'cast spells' to reduce quality, and you also get gold for the sell price loss

No! It was a gem polisher mod that increased the quality, I remember now. I imagine you could just reverse that pretty easily in pfm

Heya, I'm having issues opening the dye menus with customizeAnywhere and I'm wonderng if that mod s incompatible with Get Glam or something, because none of the keybinds are workng even when i press LShift.
I use get glam and the dye menu works fine

the clothing mechanic was changed, and now you have to make clothes
Im not sure how customize anywhere works though
I use Customize Anywhere and don't have issues with dye menu o.o
The dyeing mechanic is separate from Customize Anywhere though

something to do with getting steam's achievement system or in-game overlay to work (this is different from the in-game achievement system, it listens for events in that and sets your steam achieves accordingly)

Ideally you'd want to delete the line that modifies the e.g. chest in content.json

Furthermore, this is the Japanese Mod. If I just set in the start of a comment before this {, and then the end of it below the last Building (All the rest of the document calls buildings) then it wouldn't attempt to load the Japanese buildings... I think?

Apparently if you addWarps with conditions with tmxl it messes up pathing.
But thanks to the wonderful Pathos you can now add warps with Content patcher 1.18 and it works fine

I don't know what to tell you then. If the installer succeeds and tells you that 3.7.3 is installed, but when you run smapi it tells you you still have 3.6.3, then the place you are installing to must not be the same place you are running it from.

There's a README file with the smapi download that comes with instructions for manual install. You could try that.

two mods are patching your farmcave so you'll need to config your farm map to turn off its farmcave changes; lavapulse chickens is broken and happy birthday has problems

calling them content packs might be a bit misleading because they seem to be only an image with a certain a naming scheme in a folder named assets in the more giant crops mod folder
there's a folder named assets floating around somewhere in your mods
it's just an "assets" folder with no other folders above it, if that helps narrow it

Stardew Valley Extended. In all my time modding games I've never seen this before. Didn't happen until I left the farm and came back. After leaving and coming back it still happens, and only on the farm.

All mods when initially installed were up to date

Any mod can produce so many errors if the game keeps trying to do the thing that causes the error 
It's pretty common for error logs to have the same thing repeating dozens or hundreds of times

What you downloaded was a SMAPI Installer.zip
It contains a SMAPI Installer folder, which you take out of the .zip by dragging it to somewhere like Desktop or Downloads. Program Files is probably not a good place for it.
I wouldn't recommend that, that's why I mentioned Desktop or Downloads

Different configs for stuff that affects maps... You prob all want the same one
Different configs for stuff like dialogues, event scripts, retextures... you should usually be fine to each do your own thing.
(but it can really depend on the mod. Some mods might have broadcastEvents that get triggered by the host but seen by all people and might cause errors if they are disabled by some but not all players)
SpoopyLavender, mods go in your Mods folder that is in your Stardew Valley folder (this is why I gave instructions on how to find your game files) and they must be unzipped like SMAPI was

@thin basin yeah it moves and modded recipes added by participating mods away from vanilla shops and into the new shop. It's where the Ice Cream stand is in Fall, Winter and Spring, and in Summer the shop is in the desert.

I haven't seen one, but you might appreciate the vanilla game setting to show tool hit location, if it's not enabled already

Hey can anyone help me figure out why the Owl Scarecrow and Shane’s New Job (adds a job after Jojo gets closed so no more depressed unemployed dialogue) mod won’t work on my game? (I think it’s still compatible but I could be wrong)

The Shane's new job mod is making what looks like the appropriate edits to schedule, animations, and sprites
Yeah, when I downloaded it from Nexus it just gave me a .rar file and I put it into mods
You always need to extract archives first
both are different kinds of archive format
is ok. We encourage mod authors to post .zip because it's more commonly used and easier for most people to work with

Uh...how do I use this rar file right? I can't see any normal extract options....
You might need a program that can handle rar files if you don't have one
7zip is good and free
For the Job one, if isn't working properly it may be a trickier bug to find. Try following Shane around on the days he's supposed to work. If he's still behaving weirdly and not doing what the mod description says, do this:
- type
patch summaryin the console - type
patch export Characters/schedules/Shanein the console - upload the new log and share it
- also share the file that was created from the patch export command

@upbeat fractal if you click with your mouse far from the character (i usually keep mine stowed over my energy to watch it) you'll use tools and weapons where you're facing like a controller
@crude flume I thought that but it's not working as I expected. Maybe I'm not far enough
off the top of my head, there's a setting for controller-like menus that could mess with it
there's also a mod that alters weapons to always follow your mouse
Now I'm frozen.... I can jump and open inventory etc. I tried cheating a warp to see if that would fix but it hasn't....any ideas how to fix?

yeah...i've had that happen a couple times before when debugging mods, usually when i did a SMAPI command then clicked into SD so a tool went off
never figured out a way to fix it, but i could prevent it by alt-tabbing back in

game especially doesn't like smapi commands and fishing rod casts happening at the same time
Combat Controls, that's the one that always makes weapons go towards your mouse
it might override tools too? i haven't used it
I think it's changed since last update because it doesn't matter how far away my mouse is I'm always turning towards it
