It means the mod contains code designed to run whenever a button is pressed (mouse, keyboard, controller)
And that this mod encountered an unexpected error somewhere in that code when it ran.

As soon as a mod is added to the mods folder and loaded by smapi, it's already running.
It needs the code for button presses to detect when the appropriate key is pressed. But even if you didn't press that key yet, code from the mod still runs any time you press any key.

... Looks like the additional requirements for Marlon's four heart event for the sewer key is that you have to have reached the bottom of the mines and are in year 2.

I use a mod that allowed for more animals per barn/coop. It doesn't increase the interior space though
No but it has a config option for auto-feeding that will make sure extra animals (beyond the vanilla limit) get fed

Looks like you downloaded the mod to make PPJA fruit work with artisanal soda makers twice. You need to delete the JA and PFM from one of the folders. You can delete the Mod/[JA] and mods/[PFM], because those are already included in the folder mods/artisanal soda makers. So itβs in the artisanal soda maker folder, but also in the mod folder, and it only needs to be one of those places
You're missing dependencies.

They were told yesterday by others they had duplicates. I also told them about needing the main mod. shrugs

there are different ones, depending on what you're looking for! If you're looking for new animals, Better Farm Animal Variety (BFAV) is the way to go
BFAV adds species, A&S adds skins
if you are looking for more variety to existing animals, Adopt n' Skin does that, yea

Most of my BFAV mods produce vanilla game items. The ones that produce their own unique items come with JA mods for the items and artisan goods
the ones I use have a JA and a Producer Framework Mod (PFM) component, rather than artisan valley, so they produce custom items o:

also the last we'd heard, there were some people here trying to use lavapulse's chickens and it didn't seem to work :c it is possible to create a BFAV version of the mod for your own personal use, but can't distribute it
I suck at making my own mods. xD I tried to convert some old BFAV mods to the new format and couldn't get it right without help

i tried changing the key bidings because i already have the defauot ones for other things and it didnt work
Some mods let you edit key bindings, which are controller/keyboard/mouse buttons which do something in-game. This page explains how to configure them. (This works for any mod using SMAPI's standard APIs.)

so i have a question with the automate mod (again) . how do i, 1) configure pathways as connectors 2) have the mod UI show me whats connected?

ah, updates shouldn't cause the JA item ID shuffle, that's usually caused by straight up adding a new JA mod

yeah I don't think the cooking menu supports variant or colored outputs depending on an input variant.
You could make a mod that used a donut machine, though, instead of a cooking recipe.

Hello modding community peeps, aside from SVE, what other mods are great for end game content? I have way too much resources, would like to somehow use them. Got my first child in the game so are there like mods for the family? would like to expand what I can do at this point
A bit late to this, but I use a recolor mod, a seasonal fence mod, seasonal buildings mod, seasonal grass mod, and various JA mods that let me make plants to put wherever. Makes things look nice

So it's been awhile sense I've play SDV I went to go update mods using nexus bot it wont let me now they changed their rules about their subscription services. So I can't update some of my mods. Does anyone have suggestions where to download mods now?
I'm not sure what you mean. You can download updates by going to the mod page and clicking either Manual download or Manager download. Were you using some automated update feature before?

TimeSpeed is the one I'd suggest. If you set your default tick times to 14 then the entire day will pass twice as slowly.
There are many more incompatibilities and bugs with other mods that extend bedtime past 2am.

(if you have access to any of your recent smapi logs, you can get your old mod list without resorting to memory)

Has anyone used the Wabbajack modpack for SDV? The readme claims there is a "some mod info" document however I can't find it
we don't really recommend modpacks. i don't know the specific one you're referring to but if it's just a pack of mods made by a specific streamer or mod user, the mods in it are most likely stolen and reuploaded without credit.
(there are "modpacks" that are all one particular person's mods that they made, which is a different thing, but it sounds like you're referring to the kind of modpack that is just a bunch of mods by different people that one person happened to like)

But yes it is a compilation of like 65 mods
They are not combined into one file they are just mass downloaded from nexus

Ive never had a problem until i added warp location mods and the CBJ(?) Cheat mod. removed the files i had added, but it wont go back to before
all mods are updated as far as i can tell. And the retexture, furry mod, and event repeater (error never made a difference), never bothered it

@umbral grove you can try adjusting the automation interval in the config.json of automate, that way you'll know
just put it high enough that you can tell the difference easily

I'm having a mod issue. I've reached Farming 10. When I go to sleep it asks if I want to choose "artisian, agriculturist, or distiller". I picked artisian and the game saved. the next night the very same choice popped up and it wouldn't let me choose artisian, so I picked distiller. And then the third night it popped up yet again and I picked agriculture. I'm now going to bed 4 nights after hitting farming skill ten and I get the choice again, but it won't let me pick any of them. The SMAPI console is sitting at "[spacecore] doing skill menus"

If the lag just started after installing it then it could have been enough to push you over the edge on a weaker system. I think that's the mod you're making so you may either want to run a mod group when testing it or sacrifice another mod.
well, this system is no slouch so it's definitely something either causing unseen errors, or may have been automation finally bringing the engine to its knees (loaded a different, fresh save and it was not stuttering)
looks like I have to disable the distiller profession in the sauvignon mod. I wanted to pick artisian anyway, so I'll give it a shot. thank you @shy orbit

Yeah there's a lot of reasons why it could but it sounds like automation is the culprit. Got too many machines π
If you have stuff like PFMAutomate installed it's often the extensions for it that cause lag and not Automate itself
i don't even need a single machine for automate to cause stuttering, happens on a fresh save and it's clearly connected to the automation interval. must be some mod interaction i guess (i've been trying some combinations to find the cause but haven't been succesfull)
probably just too many PFM machines
yeah, changed tick rate from 60 to 1200 and like clockwork, every 20 seconds there is a stutter
and this save has a lot, a LOT, of PFM machines
PFM runs extra code on every single automate call and that ends up slowing things down a lot

EditData just means it's editing well....data. You'd have to look at the entries name Mon4 for example and compare them to the vanilla files to see if the same entry name exists. Most mod authors won't include the vanilla dialogue lines exactly so if it's in there it's either slightly edited or completely changed.

Industrial Furniture Set, Industrial Kitchen Interior, and Starblue Valley are all editing your furniture files.
Starblue Valley is last, it's probably the one overlaying on top of the others.
If you want, you can add an optional dependency to the manifest files of Industrial Furniture Set and Industrial Kitchen Interior to make them load after Starblue
Or you can just rename their folders to sort later in the alphabet than Starblue Valley.
@dire fractal depending of the setting, more grass is added to vanilla grass, or replace it. You can have multiple more grass packs, without doing anything special

so i have the stardew foliage redone - foliage only pack because i want the trees and hay grass but i use the dirt and grass as in, the grund you walk on, from a less yellow stardew. i think it's not showing as an error but the mods are conflicting. i had a more grass package for realistic wildflowers and i was trying to figure out how to have that AND the foliage from foliage redone, so to test, i took out the more realistic wildflowers and now it seems i have vanilla grass back?

that map probably changes the farmhouse location? the normal warp to the farm is on the porch of your house, so that tile must not be your porch in the map you use

hi all - i accidentally sent this earlier and then couldn't respond lol. but does the child to npc mod work at all? i tried from nexus and it's not the most up to date so i get a ton of smapi errors, but then when i downloaded the 1.2.1 unofficial update there was no .dll? again, the easiest way would be ti use a CP conversion, but make sure that it is actually overwritting the asset

Do you have another non-xnb mod installed that is affecting the same files?
Or do you possibly have multiple copies of the game or Content folder on your computer?
(and you are restarting the game in-between when testing, right?)

xnb overwrites the base game, resetting makes steam replace everything with the original files again
so the mods are erased

You shouldn't be using XNB mods anymore as they directly replace the game files. Many XNB mods haven't been updated since 1.2 as we adopted Content Patcher after 1.3 came out.
You can check for CP alternatives here https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Reset_your_content or if you only have a few XNB mods we can probably link you to their CP counterpart.

when you're having trouble with duplicate mods, the best thing to do is to follow the instructions in red at the top of your SMAPI log. it will tell you the exact folders that are duplicated. delete both of those, and then download the mod again and install it again.

does anyone know of a mod that will allow me to buy full stacks of items all at once from a vendor?
it's very very time consuming and annoying to sit and wait to fill out my inventory with full stacks of wood/stone etc. which is something i've needed to do a lot in my modded game

I don't know of a mod but if you're on a computer you could throw together a macro or use an auto-clicker to speed things up (might be how I solved the same problem)

My sister mods on PC but Susan's farm in SVE is there but susan and her house aren't. My brother said it might be Summit Reborn. Would that cause Susan and her house to not show up

yeah when some map mod is broken (including breakage-by-clashing) it can cause other map mods to not be able to apply their changes

for those who were unaware, the most recent version of stacksplitx is apparently broken and doesn't work. SMAPI gives a link to smapi.io/mods which shows this when you search for it
a link there shows an unofficial patch that will presumably get it working, though
Yup this is common for a lot of mods that donβt receive updates from the author after major updates
Also my brother has his controller connected to his game but the miuse glitches and moves backwards and in the setting menu it wont let him move the cursor
