So im having a predicament, im getting an error but it doesnt show up in the logs, it looks to be an XNA error of sorts under stacktrace, i havent played in a while and decided to pick it up again, after updating everything (took a while to get the list from smapi, might not even be complete) it still doesnt work, so im at a loss on what to do. I would share the smapi log but as i stated it doesnt exactly show up in there
what was the mod?

so if you look at the cmd log looking box look for the red words untill you find the name of the mod

can you copy the text and put it in?

It might help to post the log anyway, even if what you're seeing doesn't show up.

no thats just the normal warnings for using pytk, tmxl etc
there orange in the log parser but they might be the issue i cant say for sure but do you remember the error you got?

A similar issue was fixed on mac by manually symlinking to the libdigiplus provided by mono
Not sure how you'd do that on linux; but it can't hurt to try re-installing mono like Jonqora mentioned
except that mono is working perfectly fine outside stardew

Perhaps you need a different version of mono for SDV? mono-complete is recommended for SDV, do you have that one?

You could try poking around your mono install to find where libdigiplus.so is, and then figure out how to get SMAPI when it launches to use that explicitly?
i mean symlinking works just the same on linux as on mac, so that's an option
In the mac version there's a libdigiplus.so inside the SDV app itself, but I don't know if on Linux it's packaged the same way.
In any case, this is all assuming the problem is using the wrong libdigiplus.so, which may not be the root cause ๐

removing stardust core just replaces it with ever mod it picks

see if its an issue with stardew on 6.10 not working properly (which would likely be something to be fixed in another update i guess)

i symlinked the libgdiplus.so to the base directory where stardew is, the same folder as content and mods

Just to make sure... is it suggested to use the non-SVE version of NPC Map Locations when playing vanilla? Or is it not gonna have any effect on the game? @sonic holly

I play both modded and vanilla, so I'm not sure if I should be using the "standard" version when playing vanilla. I haven't been running into any kind of problems for now, so I THINK it's fine.
Also, the folders/filenames are identical, so...
i happen to use the sve version because it's the only one that's recoloured to match everything else
@junior musk make a different mod group for each save file, one contains SVE Map, the original NPC Map in the other

nobody happens to have an unofficial update for get glam do they? seems it broke recently, its not loading hairstyles correctly and some mods dont even register correctly (if you have one or any info on it please do ping me, ill read when i wake up, and there are 3 bug reports on nexus about it as well, myself included)

For a different approach, Mobile Phone now lets you "reminisce" with villagers you call, in which you essentially replay events you've already seen with them o: no IDs needed~
I've come across where if I skip an event with a prize or goal at the end, then I don't get it. so I'm hoping if I repeat it, I can get the quest

in general i try to avoid vortex unless i see mod creators explicitly say to use it or a consensus in the community that it works

i manually downloaded my 159 mods
some people use moddrop for SDV, I haven't tried it. I just do manual downloads & make category folders within /Mods to organize it so I can find stuff again.
it's not as nice as having a mod manager, but I don't like using managers if I don't understand exactly what they're doing :P
I use a combination of vortex and manual downloads. Vortex requires some fiddling, but for me it works well when needing to enable/disable all sorts of mods in different combinations for testing.
(though it's worth mentioning that my categorizing method might lead to funky loading, cuz it does it by name?)
Manual install removes the "middleprogram", I've seen people run into odd issues with Vortex that I don't see since I'm doing manual install lol
I don't feel Vortex is worth the fuss for most people, though, unless you have at least 3 different mod profiles you play with
(since it allows you to install or update a mod just once and apply to all profiles)

SDV is pretty easy! it's just simple folder dropping. :) just make sure you unzip your stuff before putting it in.
Smapi thankfully takes a lot of the fuss out of mod setups all on its own, since it handles mod load order and dependencies already.
and the mods are in a separate folder, which I was very excited about, compared to manual install for other games (definitely not recommended for any Bethesda games, in which manual install is equivalent to XNB modding
)

SMAPI creates the Mods folder when it's installed, if that's what you mean o:

dang, that's actually super impressive.
Without smapi, only XNB mods and the occasional external exe (like natural color reshade) would work at all
SMAPI is the mod loader, and specifically it loads the mods in the Mods folder o: (you can get fancy with modgroups to have sort-of profiles, but that's another topic lol)
not recommended for any Bethesda games, in which manual install is equivalent to XNB modding

So in these other games, do the mod managers work to dynamically back up and replace original files by swapping them out with modded ones?
(So, content patcher kind of?)
I use Mod Organizer (MO) for those, and that program creates a virtual mods folder, so mods live there, and that way the game files are left untouched. The old Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) still directly replaced game files, but it did it for you. I think with Vortex now, it functions similar to MO, and creates a virtual mods folder.
There were no back ups for the game files though (as in, the mod managers didn't make backups), so to uninstall a mod, like XNB modding, either you had a backup of the original game file, or you had to validate your game files 
To my knowledge, modding Mass Effect games is still directly replacing game files, and you have to do it in a specific order as well (gameplay mechanics mods installed first, texture replacers installed last) otherwise you'd have to start all over, validate your game files, and try again 
Yeah, Vortex creates a staging folder, like a copy of the Mods folder, where it stores all your different mods and versions of mods - and then it zoops them back and forth in and out of the real Mods folder on command.
it depends on which ME you're modding, but yes. the mod manager has a button to unpack and back up every asset in the game, which takes hours,
but once you've done it you can then use the mod manager to uninstall specific mods b/c it has the files on hand to put the original back.
in ME1 you have to do gameplay mods before textures, but fortunately there are like, 5 gameplay mods for that one. so it's not a big deal.
pfff was a big deal for me when I found one after I thought I was done with my process LOL so. I definitely had to reinstall the game >_> (and then all the mods)

@heavy sky I modified a an object in the Tea Time mod, and I was running so fast that actually caused the camera to shake a lot and I also started clipping through everything. Afterwards I changed it back to the original speed value.

from my experience,, it basically makes a new door, and adds a portion above it, which is different from the other doors

If Windows users click in the console, it won't proceed. It will click back out of the console to let it continue when you pressESCor any "unclick me" method I guess. If something's actually hanging somewhere, I wouldn't expect it to get work though.
Sorry, I didn't look further in your log because you just said SMAPI errors, and the JA ones were the only ones I saw. You didn't mention your game wasn't loading :P
I can get stardew valley to load, but when i select a game it freezes and SMAPI crashes

My guess is that they are all trying to load the same map, so it doesn't load at all, which causes a hysterical fit domino crash by all the things that need that map.
@rapid drum oh the door thing! that was driving me insane too a couple days ago on my own recolor. i overlaid opaque versions of all the doors on the semi-transparent ones in towninterior and that seemed to fix it
Most people just don't notice it because it's semi-transparent, I think.

That's a confusing packaging scheme for that mod, I wonder if they could be convinced to move all their tilesheets to CP for recolor purposes 
the worst part of doing this door testing is that I have to wait til like 9am every time to check a door :')

Yeah, Chat Commands is really convenient, but I am constantly using time slider in CJB menu...
(I wouldn't have survived testing all my shop mods without CJB Cheats Menu to set the time of day, and then warp to their buildings)
debug ebi 123124 in the console will play an event right away, regardless of qualifying conditions.
(Type is when in a different area from the one the event takes place in.)

@restive zodiac RE: Linux issue with F2F. Looking at the files they're named the same way that PFM wants so it shouldn't be an issue of capitalization. If anything AV should have not been working because it was ProducerRules instead of producerRules

Uh- the logs end up with null characters and I am unable to upload them to the parser

Its not a crash as I've said this, its an entire freeze
I physically have to shutdown my pc just to be able to access anything
A normal log out is fine, but the crash-freezes that happen cause this

that sounds more like an issue with like, XNA, or your save or maybe your pc's memory? how did you trace it back to personal anvil?

It was more of the fact that almost every freeze happened when using that mod

As the screen scrolls, it doesnt scroll smoothly and instead 'jumps'
I tried enabling vsync, setting affinity to a single core in task manager
sounds like screen tearing
its likely nothing to do with the game, but instead something with the pc or vsync
its the only program this happens in fwiw
i had vsync off and turned it on and neither did anything
i get screen tearing in stardew only as well
i saw someone else who had this issue online but their fixes didn't work for mine sadly
but for me its a xrender issue on linux
im not entirely sure what a universal fix would be tbh

It's more around permissions, if it's not your mod, and the author doesn't have their permissions set to allow people to redistribute their mods, it's considered a bit rude
Either way, I see mouse is a-typing, they might have solutions
We have a couple Nexus people on the server that might be able to help ( @prisma dove <#archived-modded-support message>).
In the meantime someone might be able to DM you the files you need, though the author is here as well ( @rare quest ) and might be able to help or at least comment that it's fine.

They actually can tell us a lot. We can see what mods you have installed which some are known to lag the game because of how big they are. 10 minutes is a long time but if you're running older hardward + resource heavy mods that would be the culprit.
Sadly if it's an issue of hardware we can't resolve that, only solution would be to remove mods until it loads as quick as you'd like.
id say find the specs, if its anything older than 2016/2017 its bound to be slower with windows
or if a mod's having a ton of errors and choking up the load process, we'd see those in the log too

yeah, most are fine to add. some mods can require additional work on an existing save, particularly map mods
i don't actually know if there are any that really need a new save
Vanilla has more outfits overall.
@tardy aurora there's EnhancedRelationships mod with a few features to make friendship gain harder. There's also a choice of Harder Gift Tastes mod or RandomTastes mod (but not both) to affect gifting difficulty.

I think I was playing a shorter time - last time I was able to do maybe one or two days before it froze, but today it was towards the end of the first day that I started playing.

That happens with JA clothing items. The JA items don't get loaded until the save is opened, so they cannot display on the main menu avatar.
No, because of the way JA works to assign item IDs. You can play different save files with different sets of mods that add JA items, so the item ID assignment can be completely different from savefile to savefile. JA only knows what to use when the savefile is opened (and it scans through all your items and adjusts all the item IDs if you've added or removed JA content packs)
If it bugs you, you can make a habit of changing your character into a vanilla outfit right before saving and closing your game after playing

Hey guys, I have a question about SVE
I've got trees, grass, rocks, etc on my farm growing in places they shouldnt. I'm also using the remastered expansive farm, and theres stuff in the river, inside and through the greenhouse ruins, etc.
I've started a new save, on a fresh install of SV, and the only mods I'm using are the ones necessary to run SVE.

Reset Terrain Features (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4715) is a mod that allows you to reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map via an in-game menu. This is especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will still use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits) until reset.

I'm not sure about the later errors, but the loading errors are easy - your friend has a duplicate copy of Minerva's Harder CC bundles. They also have an xnb mod in the Mods folder (the one called Content).
Plus they can update several mods. I recommend they do that and then run things again, share a new log - might have fewer errors.

Should be. Set the FTM config MonsterLimitPerLocation to 200 or lower if you're having lag trouble.

Did you make a backup before changing it? Or does SDV editor make backups?
Save editing programs are quite risky especially if they haven't been updated for 1.4, or multiplayer, or for using mods if your save has mods

Ok so I accidentally loaded my save with the wrong mod group (it was the testing mod group that had none of the things) and I saw the message from SMAPI being like "hi I removed some custom NPCs that aren't here anymore", my question is, does that immediately save to the save file O~O? it doesn't look like it, from the Date Modified field

i'd suggest updating smapi (and the game possibly) and launching it to see what smapi thinks (are there updates to mods or if they have become incompatible). you could also just keep all as is if you don't care about updates i guess

The file/folder structure with SVE changes a lot, so you have to delete the folders and install the new ones, you can't overwrite
Uploading the log file to that site will pump it through a log parser that makes it a fair bit easier to read than the terminal output.

@errant ember Once you share your log with https://smapi.io/log, it will tell us a ton of information, including all the mods and versions you're running, possible conflicts, load problems, etc. A lot of problems can be solved very easily by an experienced troubleshooter reading the trace logs. It's hard to give much help without it.

^- JSON is just raw text in a specific layout, so any text editor should work. The layout matters to the programs reading it, so it can be helpful to look at a JSON validator if you run into issues after editing, like https://smapi.io/json or a plugin for some text editors (notepad++ probably has one)

@coarse bear launching the game directly instead of using SMAPI will run it without mods, or you can use mod groups (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Can_I_have_different_mod_groups.3F) to have different sets of mods that you can choose between - one of them could just be an empty group (so SMAPI would still be involved, but you could use 0 other mods and it'd be like running vanilla with SMAPI's logger)

Huh. Quit on wedding day -> now when save loads it's the day of the wedding but I'm already married, no event happens and friendship meters for the other candidates are locked at 8 (unless 1.4 changed that and it doesn't unlock anymore).

Did you also install it after downloading it? Remember if you want to start a modded game from Steam you need to set your launch options as shown in Part 2: configure Steam at that link.

For some mods, but anything adding brand new things (vs just retexturing or changing values of existing assets/data) needs to be downloaded by everyone. So something adding content like SVE definitely needs to be installed by all parties or there will be hell.

Nope. The SMAPI installer should ask where you game is installed if it can't find it though, so you can either type in the path directly or drag the Stardew Valley.exe onto the terminal and it should pick it up.

Yeah, if you open a command prompt and try dragging any file into it, it will just input the path to that file. So in this case it serves as a handy shortcut for giving SMAPI installer the correct path :)

(If the file you are dragging is an executable, pressing enter after dragging it will run it, since it's the same as if you typed the path to it to run it normally!)

@gentle glen Follow the steps under How do I share my log?. When you click save & parse log it will take you to a new page with your log all parsed and pretty. The URL at the top of the page will have changed. Copy that URL (select the whole line by double clicking the address bar, or clicking and dragging to highlight the whole address) and paste it here (click into chat box and press CTRL V or right click and select "paste")

and i happen to notice the red text
Like Exnotic said, there's a known issue with certain combinations of older versions of those mods that updating fixes. If you can link your log, it will show whether there are still updates to be done and much more information. Hopefully downloading and updating latest versions again will fix that particular error for you, but if it doesn't or for any future errors we really need to be able to see your log. @gentle glen

On this page https://smapi.io/log there is a text box. You can either drag the .txt file into that box, or open the text file and copy and paste the contents into the text box. Once the box is filled with text, you click a button on that page that reads "save and parse log", which is what changes the page.

You can also click "choose a file" in that screenshot to browse to the log directly, either way. Once you have clicked save & parse log the page changes. Did that happen?

I don't have a good screenshot of the address bar because I don't have a regular browser window right now.
I forgot it gave the address there too, but yes, see how it says "Share this link to let someone else see the log:" and then gives a link? Can you copy that whole line and paste it here please?

@gentle glen The red text is there because you still have more updates to do. This mod right here Generic Mod Config Menu 1.1.0 โ 1.2.0 won't work with the current version of another mod until you update it.

Exnotic recognized the error and knew you would need to update either one or the other between Generic Mod Config Menu or Custom Music, but this way you know how to look at your log's errors and how to share it if you need help!
but always check my mods after updating them to make sure they work right
In this case the two mods worked together in a certain way that broke when you updated one and not the other. They should be okay separately from now on, but they worked differently in previous versions.

It should be okay this time after you update Generic Mod Config Menu to the latest version, but you can always check your log again for new errors to share.

Hi yall, would anyone know where I can find the ID's for Artisan Valley products so I can add them to the custom cask config (since it says automate doesn't recognize categories). I looked through the files and can only find category IDs.
@silver moth If it still doesn't work, I've noticed several people on Mac needing to install libgdiplus separate on Mac, so however you installed Mono you might also try mono-libgdiplus (eg brew install mono-libgdiplus if you were using that)

looks like you have 2 copies of some mods
Fresh Meat is in beta, so it may not be stable yet. There were a lot of required mods added in the latest update. It might be best if you don't update that particular one yet, but if you have already tried to download and replace it, we can try to work out what you need with another log.

It would be best to remove the old versions of them from your mod folder before you do that (you can either delete the old versions or just move them to a different folder, to save them just in case something breaks).

Save editors often break save files, though I can't speak to latest version of a particular one. They can be opened in text editors, though, so you don't need additional software.
