I think it's the map recolor mod, but I don't understand how the lid color is different than what's in that mod. I was just gonna erase it from the tilesheet, but you guess and tell me if I'm missing something

I'm having trouble getting SDV + SMAPI to use my GPU. Both SDV and SMAPI are set to run with my GPU in NVidia control panel. If I run from Steam with the snippet spit out by the SMAPI installer, the SMAPI exe is using the GPU but the game isn't. If I run the game without the snippet, SDV will use the GPU.

i downloaded raphtalia's mod a while ago and came back to find that smapi has said it's taken precautions not to cause an error because it has been uninstalled. This is true, I uninstalled everything when I switched laptops but it's not on the site lol does this mean my save is at risk or?

smapi doesn't necessarily get rid of all the npc data in the save though, i don't know if the possible leftovers can cause issues but they should be fine to remove by yourself at least. the mod page might have instructions what to remove @slate rivet

So I tried updating some mods on Moddrop by clicking on the mod, then edit-->edit files and then dropping the new file in the add file window. It uploaded the file...then i entered new text for it, saved and changed it to the default file. When I start Stardew...SMAPI still says I need to update to the latest version. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
i think for some mods you have to delete the mod and just replace it
with the new update

Stay away with mods that load the same maps (ie map mods in general), be aware that recolors of vanilla tiles won't affect custom tiles (color clashing in certain locations), I think farmhands still can't marry custom spouses (haven't retested since last round of SMAPI/mod updates), FHR farmhouses don't work with custom spouse rooms, and edits to locations for fish/artifact changes will probably be overwritten by whichever loads last and so need patches.
It doesn't do anything gameplay so all that should theoretically be fine.

SMAPI isn't a mod, so you can't install it like mods - it has an installer. MD has support for fetching that installer and running it

Hey, I am having trouble installing the MultiPause Mod https://github.com/Tawling/MultiPause (hope the link is okay, no ad). I installed SMAPI and put the MultiPause folder in my Mods folder located in my Stardew Valley folder. I am getting the error [SMAPI] - MultiPause 1.1.2 because its DLL 'MultiPause.dll' doesn't exist. Well it actually isn't there. Does somebody know how this Mod is installed? Thanks in advance ๐

I can't load the log, but I gave the exact filename. That problem is because they included one season of the vanilla seasonal outdoors sheets.

Get Crop Transplant Mod OR move them manually. Save editors can and will break your save and make it unsalvageable

Reset Terrain Features (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4715) is a mod that allows you to reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map via an in-game menu. This is especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will still use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits) until reset.

yeah, immersive spouses is very nice for that. i'd also suggest helpful spouses if you already dont' have it. having your spouse do something useful everyday breaks the monotony of your routine a bit and it can be just fun to get some food at the morning

i've been getting nothing but garbage from fishing except the first time i received the bamboo rod from willy
i have another save file from a while back, w/o the mod, and i actually caught fish then
i suspect that its not just me having ungodly bad luck, as i've tried fishing on all days of varying luck
also, json assets show up in SMAPI in red text, i've left a bug report and so have others but, sve requires it
just to be sure, do you let the bar reach the highest point when you cast and fish in locations where you can get fish?

it is possible, but when switching some buildings or craftables might become inaccessible
you can fix that by switching back to the old layout, moving those inaccessible things and then going back to the new layout

I got 277 iridium ores in 1 day, if it is cheating ill remove 75% of them
the concept of cheating doesn't really apply to a modded non-competitive single player game i'd say, rather i'd class it as cheese of a kind, a trivial way to get large amounts of iridium
and other things, such as prismatic shards
you just have to make your own rules regarding these things
So, i have the rule
Remove 75% of iridium, keep all omni geodes/food, and remove prismatic shards

while I don't know if it can corrupt your save -- they can cause serious crashing
(They have a million more problems just by virtue of being XNB mods for sure, but they won't crash just because of being XNBs or anything. The issues a replaced file would cause would be the same that an outdated CP loaded equivalent of file would, just with all the extra problems and inconveniences of using XNB mods in the first place :P )

If you mean IF2R, it does have a different greenhouse exterior since it actually erases the original one, but there's a janky way to use your own instead and that's the only building.
Uh sorry gimme uh 2 more mins i haven't touched the files that effects the buildings in some time because i gave up initially

Flower Valley changes the buildings to be flowery yeah, that is one of its main purposes :P You could swap out Flower Valley, replaces the images inside Flower Valley, or if you're trying to use eemie's seasonal victorians they should just work if you make sure they are loaded after, either by setting an optional dependency in its manifest.json (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Modder_Guide/APIs/Manifest#Dependencies) or possibly by changing the folder name to start with a z (not guaranteed to work forever, SMAPI mod ordering may change at any time, etc etc)

I just managed to add some furniture into the xnb tilesheet and data file by extending the image and then just adding a new furniture item,
is there anything I have to look out for? I'd love to use custom furniture to make it easy, but that doesn't work in multiplayer so I tried editing the tilesheet.
Now I'm just wondering if I could literally stick another tilesheet on the bottom of it and add the IDs and descriptions and if that would work as well. Tedious process, but I'm guessing there is no other way

I noticed that JA has IDs that change into an ID that is empty, CP replaces, so I was hoping that if any of the added furniture takes up an ID of another mod (or are there vanilla items that have higher IDs as well?) it wouldn't be a problem
xnb modding is pretty outdated yeah, but I'm searching some way to add more furniture to the game and currently the only solution, Custom Furniture, does not work in Multiplayer :/

unless I'm overseeing something, that chair I added (extended furniture.png from extracted xnb by 32 pixels down and added it there on ID 2048) is fully functioning in game and I don't seem to be missing something. But that's why I wanted to try even more to take a look if something changed

Stardew reinstall doesn't fix it

This is more a question concerning mods than anything else but I consider this an appropriate channel for it. Someone recently told me that the NPC sleep sprites were updated? And I think this effectively makes all my mods that change NPC appearance broken now. (I can get that image of block Shane, for example.) Does anyone know if this is true?

Yeah, the Shane and Leah apparence mods are probably old and broken. Stardew is resilient so you can keep using them, if you don't mind all new sprites/animations for those characters being replaced by weird looking blocks.

@torpid fox Side-effect, both work in essentially the same way, so most games will not work with both at the same time - no real fix for it.

hiya, I am having crash in multiplayer every night before the tractor is supposed to be finished. I have tried looking into the log but there are no conflicts in the game or with tractor mod itself. Robin also disappears from constructing the tractor back to her shop the day before the tractor is supposed to be done

It was apparently due to linustreehouse mod, I was able to fix it!
Mostly Lenny, there's some resources on that in #making-mods-general. Cli is the standard, but it can't do the newest XNB files from the 1.4 update

the worst that should happen with multiple dialogue editing mods is that you miss content when they try to edit/add the same dialogue and that you might get clashing dialogue

Most NPC schedule changes, frequently breaks custom NPCs, custom recolors, possibly some JA items, map mods, and who knows what else. It is also famous for massive lag for some users
the recolor incompatibilities aren't necessarily very severe, i for example don't notice anything wrong with stardew valley foliage redone and sve
that isn't in my game though
(those are the easily searchable ones)

if there's one thing I don't like about SVE, it's the creator's lack of caring about compatibility issues... but personally I like the content added by SVE, so I will live with it
it's a shame, but i do understand that some modders just prefer to do their own thing mostly. it's not rare for games to have big mods that don't even try to be compatible with other mods most of the time

The creator won't compromise on the wanting to be a full pack vs breaking it into a million pieces, but has made a lot of changes over time trying to be more compatible, including approaching framework creators directly for help because of not being able to fix it on his own.
When I fixed the problem that his maps had where CP mods were not able to patch his maps or custom tilesheets, he was very grateful and said his goal was to have everyone still be able to use the mods they want. I don't think that's ever going to happen because the scope of the project is so large and monolithic, but to say people don't care about it at all and proceed heedless of others seems inaccurate from my experience. I'd rather focus on the result than assume motives.
Because of my interest in keeping things working as much as possible, I considered a 3rd party patch page like you might see in the Bethesda community, thinking that maybe if nothing else compatibility questions would be concentrated there instead of nagging original authors, but I discovered there may be projects that actually don't want to be compatible and would forbid the creation of said patches, so it seemed like a nightmare non-starter for someone that easily tires of other people, hehe.
Sadly that isn't the experience most of the rest of us have had mouse

Because you said that the experience I described was not the one most people had. THe one I described was me fixing stuff and being thanked, so I was wondering if anyone else had ever fixed stuff and been rejected.

And yeah on the event, it's a difficult line. I get the argument that there are several mature themes in SDV - PTSD, depression, etc. Canon characters get comfy to people I think and it's really hard to get away with putting anything else like that on them that wasn't there to begin with.

It's its difficult because i love the maps and i love what it adds but it also adds a lot of uh not good stuff
I never end up liking edits to vanilla characters in general, so I'm terrible at judging NPC stuff
I always end up with my own head canon and don't like people adding theirs :P

(I gotta run mouse, but my point is: compat is the job of the author of a mod. if they don't wanna do it or need help, that's fine, but they shouldn't expect someone else to do all of the compat work for them unless they are getting DP/paid/credited/what-have-you. And you already know my stance about some of that)

It's a funny headcanon war too, because if someone is like "I added an alien with lasers!" I'm like "cool! I will download it!" but if it's like "I gave Emily a different haircut!" I'm like "I need to think about this" haha

Yes Minerva, I have said here and many other places that I don't think it's anyone's job to make compatibility stuff and I completely support any author that doesn't bother. Doesn't bother me at all, they don't owe anyone anything. All I commented on was the note that the author didn't care at all about compatibility, which in my experience was inaccurate and kind of projecting motive on a decision that was more like "this would be so much work with all the mods out there and the hugeness of this project, I just can't, but if anyone else wants to please do". vs some people since I've seen be like "I will never allow my mod to be compatible with x mod". Kind of a tough thing to juggle, but that's what I meant about having considered a 3rd party patch page and trying to take the patching burden off of various authors at one point
I think someone did an unofficial update for it but I've been hearing it doesn't work anymore

The locations edits are still a big pain in the ass for any modder that wants to change fishing and artifact stuff.

Guys is there any mods/programs to know if I have a cutscene available because I kinda "rushed" friendship with lots of people and didn't want to check the wiki for every single one of them
Any declaration of support means you might feel like your mod is "done" in a standalone way, except the other mod constantly changes around and you never get to be done

I, to be frank, don't give two shits about the compat myself any more XD This started as a convo on the content side of the mod. I'm just giving my honest opinion on why I don't like the mod and likely won't be changing my mind unless something drastic happens

if you want to add and maintain sve compatability is completely up to you
Not trying to persuade anyone to change any minds about anything, just commented on one person's summary of the author not caring about something, because it was about a person and not about the mod.
