Hi! Having some trouble with modding.

Mods I'm trying to use:
Daisy Niko Earthy Recolor
H&W Bathroom furniture
Calcifer
Content Patcher
Experience Bars
Gift Taste Helper
UI Info Suite 2

I install stardew, start stardew, close stardew, unpack SMAPI 4.0.8, install SMAPI, add mods to the 'mods' folder, start StardewModdingAPI.exe

First time works. Next time it doesn't. Even when deleting all the mods, just keeping the recolor or deleting and installing SMAPI again, it does not start. Works again if I uninstall Stardew, delete all files and install Stardew again. But when starting the modded API for the second time, it doesn't work again ...

Can someone help me?

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.

The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Someone said that this is related to "custom fixed dialogues" mod but, no. I have deleted Custom Fixed Dialogues, reloaded that save and "..." still pops up.

If I can just add something, I looked into the mods you have and you had the same problem with another modder who had Penny Expanded 1.6. It's possible that it was Custom Fixed Dialogue that's causing the "..." dialogue.

Maybe simply deleting that mod is not enough, maybe the game must save - move forward to next day without CFD installed? But then I will be not able to recreate that "..." because it apeared on that certain date. I hope that I wrote this clearly - english is not my main language. 🙂

Well, it rules out any festivals or anything but doesn't otherwise tell us what dialogue it should be, unfortunately. Can you put any mods you've taken out of your mods folder back in, then put these two commands in your console, then upload another log please? patch summary asset "Characters/Dialogue/Penny" and patch summary asset "Characters/Dialogue/MarriageDialoguePenny"

Ok you've only got two mods editing Penny's relevant dialogue, as far as I can see. That's Canon Friendly Dialogue Expansion and Penny Expanded Patch for SVE.

Unfortunately I can't see any issues with her regular dialogue file either. Can you please try removing the Penny Expanded Patch for SVE mod and then testing?

I have to go now. If removing that one doesn't work, try removing Canon Friendly Dialogue Expansion as well, then any other mods that affect Penny's dialogue until her dialogue returns.

hi guys, i am playing couch co op on the steam deck via hdmi to the tv with my wife. the font size in general is a problem but especially the inventory count on the hotbars. i've tried using the FontSettings mod but it doesn't help with the inventory count. are there any other mod recs that might help with that?

I've been following the conversation and if removing one or both of the mods that alter your marriage dialogue mods seems to be an issue (Canon Friendly/Penny SVE), I would suggest playing the game and sleeping off the next day, especially if it's just a one-time recurring issue. I looked into both the marriage dialogue files of the ones that patched your marriage dialogue and nothing special really happens on Summer 14, you can retrigger your indoor marriage dialogue again. @sonic spruce

I have one last request. You have one more mod that actually alters your marriage dialogue -- Part of a Saloon Breakfast. If removing it resolves your issue, this might be the problem.

It makes sense, PoSB never had an issue for me. I actually looked into your patch summary earlier and Penny's marriage dialogue in Expanded loaded but wasn't applied. I'm not too sure if this could be the issue but my last recourse would just wait for another volunteer to help you sort it out.

Also, there seems to be an incompatibility between two mods that you installed -- Immersive Farm Remastered 2 and Massive Greenhouse. I'd recommend removing one of them, depending on which one you want to keep.

@fast river here's a video of the behavior I'm seeing with YieldOverrides affecting starfruit, specifically the harvest animation and the added item that is dropped in the world. Hopefully this makes better sense of my comment on Nexus.

The harvest animation would normally add the harvested item to the inventory, but in this case the player has to pick up the dropped item

Yeah, I looked at your prefix - I saw that you never do the XP calculation that vanilla's harvest code does, but I imagine that fixing this other behavior would require changing the code a bit more

Hi, so erm, i'm a bit lost on the portraiture mod 😭 i did add the portraits i want in the folder of the protraiture mod and followed the instructions of the portraiture plus mod, but i still cant see the portraits.

You've got two installs of Portraiture going on at this point - I'd uninstall it completely, remove it entirely, then try re-adding it (Might be a side effect of using Stardrop and mixing Portraiture & P+ together)

You'll also want to kill TMXL Map Toolkiit and SAAT - They tend to cause silent failures in game that don't necessarily show up in the log (At least TMXL does, SAAT is just unsupported in 1.6 and out of date as a whole).

Even then - TMXL is fairly infamous for silently blowing the game up - Anything that still depends on it, you should really check the last updated date for.

There's also a 1.6 variant of Adventurer's Guild Expanded you should look at instead of the version you have (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/22591)

Fashion Sense does overwrite a bunch of the farmer rendering code. I haven't tested it myself but it's very likely it just isn't compatible yet

As negative can mean "multiple monitors" or "game is outside of bounds entirely" dependent on setup

Guys, sorry to bother, but I need some help. I download some anime portrait for my new save, and they used to work well, but since the winter come, the vanilla game portraits start to cover them. It's hard to tell without a full log to see what exactly mods you are using for portraits, but it seems likely that the loader isn't patching the winter portrait at all for Abigail.

Hello, i'm a new mod player, i installed a mod name "shiko npc", the mod didn't work well because i start SDV in 1.6 and the versions of the mod was 1.5 (didn't appear in festival cause of NPC locations files didn't exist anymore) , so i try by many thing to switch the mod version, install in the chracters files(In the game files), Rescript every problem in files that smapi found but nothing work, so now i ask here because i think to one other ways, install "shiko npc" in SDVExpand with other characters that the mod have. Do you think it's possible ? or there is another ways more simple ?(sorry for my poor english)

If the mod was made for 1.5, it will require significant recoding to work in 1.6.

From what I can see on Nexus, Shiko is quite old and will likely need to be rewritten pretty much from scratch for 1.6 compatibility

OK I'm back for this. Let me summarize the current situation:

1, I use Content Patcher&Portraiture to show seasonal anime portraits in game, and it work well in the first three seasons but fail during winter.

2, I'm 100% sure I have winter portrait for most the characters cause if I press p enough times while talking to NPC, it will pop out, but soon it will change back to the original picture again.

3, I've try remove portraiture to fix this problem, but it just get worse, ALL the anime portraits won't work.

For now, change the original game file seems to be the only option I got, so I still learning how to do it. But it would be wonderful if somebody can guide me on how to fix these issues without resorting to last resort. Thanks anybody who willing to help.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.

Looks like these are JSON Assets mods! Last I checked, JSON Assets is not compatible in 1.6, so you should avoid using mods that rely on it (ones that start with (JA) in their name!) if you can.

You'll also run into the same issue with (CF) mods due to Custom Furniture being phased out

  • Mobile Phone has a 1.6 version here https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21017
  • your SVE version is pre 1.6
  • you have the wrong versions of Expanded Preconditions Utility and Shop Tile Framework for 1.6 BUT also no mods requiring them

it clearly didn't delete the old SVE mod entirely before installing the new one, you still have the STF and SAAT parts in there (which are now handled in Content Patcher)
