Well that's odd. If you try to move around does the camera pan like you're moving? Your log doesn't show anything odd.
Does it happen on a new save?
yeah the camera can pan but i couldnt ever find my way out of the farm, like im being blocked from getting out
its on the most recent save. i havent tried any others
Can you just generate a new farm and see if it's still happening?
And if you're panning, it means that the character is likely still moving.
have you always played on the default farm?
ive been playing on a modded farm. all of a sudden it broke
yeah you have SVE but don't have either Immersive Farm 2 or Grandpa's Farm loaded
well you have Honey Creek, but it doesn't replace the default farm
was your previous modded farm one of SVE's, or Honey Creek?

i just loaded a new farm. the map works just as it did before

this is weird, since honey creek farm isn't supposed to replace the default farm, but the symptoms look like a case of "farm that replaces the default farm was uninstalled"
would loading a previous save help reset it? or is the game file bugged or something

You can quickly backup your vanilla or modded save files by creating a copy and storing it elsewhere. Your save files can be found using this guide. If you are modded, SMAPI creates backups of your saves as dated zips in the save-backups folder inside your Stardew Valley folder. Don’t delete the Save Backup mod installed by SMAPI, or these automatic backups won't occur.

The portrait is made for HDPortraits which isn't updated to 1.6. I installed Portraiture, removed the HDPortraits dependency, followed the instructions on the mod page...
However it doesn't show any other portraits except the main one. I cannot for the life of me figure out why
since theyre hd, you dont really actually need to do all the fun stuff portraiture has you do in the description
you can slap the pngs into portraiture like you would regular portraits
@jagged marsh is much better if youre looking to get any of the seasonal ones to work though 
it also has a config for the hat, which i want
so i can't just slap it in the portraits folder and expect it to work....
You won't get config for the hat if you use Portraiture. Portraiture can't work that way.
i wonder if that's my problem... i didnt try it without the hat

If you want that, you'd need to change the mod from using HDPortraits to using Scale Up 2. You'd need to edit some lines in the content.json but it's actually quite simple.
So uh. I just updated Immersive Farm Remastered 2 as it was updated… its broken. I loaded my save and its just the normal vanilla farm now

Ok so I changed the stuff that contained Mods/SFYMR/Wizard to Portraits/Wizard and that seemed to fix it. At least the portrait shows and does what it's supposed to

Hi, I would like to know how I can find the most current version of SMAPI. I'm playing on Android 13, and the versions I've found close as soon as I open the app. I'm not sure what the problem is, since I bought the game recently and would like to play online. 😔

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.
You've probably got 1.5.6.52, which means no modding.

trying to download the Bus Locations for the desert, but when i download v1.2.0 it tells me to download unofficial [https://github.com/Xytronix/BusLocations/releases v1.2.2] and when i do that it says i have v1.0.5 and to download v1.2.0

Your log is not telling you to change your Bus Locations mod (which is the correct version). It's telling you that your Desert content pack for Bus Locations is out of date. Did you use the one that came with the GitHub release or the one from the Nexus page?
has anyone had this issue recently with mods? i tried removing vibrant pastoral recolour and rosier coloured glasses and neither are removing this glitch and also- anyone know any mods with a similar muted colour scheme which work with 1.6??

This is definitely a case of missing tiles in recolor but I can't tell what you are using
I’m using the vibrant pastoral recolour with the rosier coloured glasses overlay
but i’ve tried take one and the other and both out but the tiles are still missing?
You may need redraw pelican town as well

Ok just looked - this isn't a full mod, it's meant to be used to overwrite files in fashion sense and alternative textures
For example copy the contents of Alternative Textures here, and paste it into the actual Alternative Textures mod folder and allow it to overwrite the sprites

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.
There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

Multiplayer Mod Checker is an easy way to determine if host/farmhand mods match.
In short, you guys should all have a separate mod folder that you keep identical between all players
Then you can
A. either rename your folder to Mods depending on which set of mods you want to play.
b. use a mod manager like Stardrop (Vortex is not recommended)
c. Set up a separate SMAPI shortcut per mod folder (See below)
Create a separate folder for each mod group in your game folder, like Mods and Mods (multiplayer). Create a shortcut to the SMAPI mascot.png StardewModdingAPI.exe file in your game folder. Right-click the shortcut, choose Properties, and add this to the end of the Target field: --mods-path "Mods (multiplayer)" (changing folder name as needed). Don't delete any of the existing text in that field! This should be added to the end of what's already there. Done correctly, it should look something like "your-path-here\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" --mods-path "Mods (multiplayer)". Double-click that shortcut to launch SMAPI with the specified mod folder.
Personally, I'd recommend Stardrop if any player wants to have a set of mods separate from the group for single player

The error says that you have not unzipped the file in which the smapi installer is - unpack it first then run it again

Yes so this is the inside of a zip file (see the file ends in .zip) you need to Extract the contents - the zip file is a closed container so installer cannot work from there

So what exactly happened? Could you write what you tried doing so I can understand a bit better what the situation is? I cannot see any Elliot related mods in your log - did you add a mod and then remove it? Or possibly delete some other files?
so i tried to add this dialogue mod, the instructions said just to replace the existed Elliott.xnb in the character file with the modded one. well the dialogue does work but he won't show up in any of the hearts event nor the festival, so i tried to replace it back with the original file from the same mod zip, but he's still missing
Could you drop the link to the mod you were trying to install? Sounds like it broke the files so might be incompatible. Restoring the save won't help in this case as it is most likely the Elliot.xnb file that is broken - you will want to reset your game files

Definitely not compatible. When you look for mods make sure you only get ones that are definitely tested to work for the most recent version of the game (1.6) - an easy way to tell in most cases is that it was last updated after March this year - in this case... the mod is 6 years old, definitely won't work

There are a lot of amazing ones out there and now you know how to avoid the not-so-compatible ones - have fun! Oh and there was a recently released Elliot mod there too so I'm sure you'll find something that works 
Just make sure to check when it was last updated. I struggled looking for dialogue mods for him back, too bc most were written years back.

Hello, Im new and had a question about a problem me and my girlfriend have been having while playing with mods

They look like compatibility issues to me. Under mod compatibility, you can see whether these mods are broken or not. You can also look at alternatives or possibly updated versions of the mods on Nexus.
Also Alex's portrait is not working at all and I have two cp mods not working. Could I link them and you could maybe tell me how to get them working? The two mods not working that aren't in the broken mods list.

game crashes the morning after we have a baby without fail. had two unique baby mods probably the cause but dekleting them and verifying files did not fix it

Oh no, what baby mods did you install? I don't play with co-op so I might not know how to really address it but the others might.

Oh, I have both of these mods. Does your girlfriend have the same mod installed?
Mod description says: Multiplayer: All players must have this mod and same sprites installed, otherwise his/her game will maybe crash.
(If you play as client, then your own children.json will not load. The game uses the host's children.json)
I'm not sure how I can help you with the crashing if both of the mods were properly deleted, though.

This is what the mod author said in one of the replies in Nexus: Hi 🙂 The sprites for the children are in the assets folder.
For example, if you marry Sam, the children will use the folder 'Sam'.
If you marry a player, there will be no folder with that name. The Children will use then assets/Natural/Default (or assets/Adopted/Default).
You can change this in the children.json under 'Child_Sprites'. Simply enter an available folder here.
You can also copy a folder, swap pngs as you like (hair, clothes etc are all separately in png) and rename it, e.g. 'ourChild'.
Then write in children.json:
"Child_Sprites": "ourChild",

i don't think there's a mod that let's you remove them. afaik it's hard coded that every multiplayer player gets a cabin. you can just live & sleep in one house though

Okay whats the mod and whats the problem

while launcing smapi, it doesn't show any errors with the mod, but once the game is open it just doesn't show the mod

hey ive completed all the steps for downloading mods, but when i try launching the game, even though it comes up with the popup for launching modded sdv and says its successful my game still does not have working mods. Does anyone know what might be the issue?

zipping up files sort of compresses them to make them smaller so you don't have this MASSIVE file you are downloading and moving
but to use them you gotta kind of "unlock" them by unzipping them
thats at least how I think about them ^_^

okay there is nothing SUPER alarming in your log but linux is known to be fussy
so it could be one of the mods you downloaded
can we try removing everything that isnt the smapi mods and see if your game launches?
lets remove these four, I want to see if we can get the game to just launch
perfect, okay so that tells me one of those mods doesnt work for linux then
its probably not the cjb cheats menu so we can add that back in

Immersive Farm Remastered 2 seems to be broken. I updated it last night but when i load my save its just the default vanilla farm
you have two mods that are also trying to affect the imf2 map (the buffoon farm and a greenhouse remake) so smapi isnt loading any of them, if you get rid of those two you should be fine

Or not… the rocks/trees/weeds/grass are in places that are on the vanilla farm and not IFR2

It might be custom farm loader causing the problem so ill double check

If you use Steam, you can also right click on the game name > Manage > Browse Local Files.

Hi, there. We've advised you multiple times that we aren't able to assist you with android modding. If a mod doesn't work, it doesn't work, and removing them is your best recourse.
I'm having trouble with a modded NPC that I've installed on my latest playthrough, and I'm not sure if it's due to bugs in the NPC mod, incompatibility with another mod, or just a 1.6 compatibility issue. I suspect it's due to the mod, since I know this mod has other problems, and I've already had to manually edit the mod's events to get them to run.
The problem I'm having now is that after marrying the NPC from the mod, all of her dialog seems to be broken. She only says "..." when I talk to her.
Also, her patio area is empty and her spouse room is a clone of abigail's, but that might just be due to the mod being unfinished.

Looking at the log, I can see an error at the bottom having to do with parsing text strings, but I don' t know what's causing that or how to fix it.
Ah, Sydney hasn't been updated for 1.6 yet. So there are likely some coding things that haven't yet been addressed.

Yeah, I had to edit her event files to get them to play in 1.6 without errors.
NPC code underwent a significant overhaul for 1.6, so I imagine that whichever dialogue string is causing this is one that needs to be rewritten. Unfortunately, the error doesn't say which string is failing.
The strange thing is that all of the regular dialog works fine, it's just the marriage dialog that crashes. I don't know enough about how dialog strings are handled to know where to look to fix this.
If you do want to try to resolve yourself, I advise starting with the Marriage Dialogue and see where it delineates from the format listed on the wiki https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Dialogue#Marriage_dialogue

I fixed the dialog. There was a typo in Sydney_Data.json.
It had "Target": "Characters/Dialogue/MarriageDialogueSydney_Lex" when it should have been "Target": "Characters/Dialogue/MarriageDialogueSydneyLex",
I still have the issue of her patio being blank and her spouse room being a clone of Abigail's, but that might just be due to the mod being unfinished.
And the dialog still crashes sometimes, so maybe I didn't fix it. I'll have to test some more.

Ok - There's a couple of things to check here.

Are they unzipped? SMAPI won't read zipped files.

Are they in the right directory? They should be in the same Mods folder as SaveBackup and ConsoleCommands, which come preinstalled with SMAPI.
You'll have to unzip them - If you're on a Mac, opening the zip file creates a temporary folder you can pull the actual mod folder out of. I'm not a MacOS user though so can't say for sure.

i tried forcing the game to learn the recepie with a console command to see if it would overwrite it but it wouldnt learn it saying it was already learned but it still wont count towards the achievment and perfection tracker

yes the tracker shows taht theres nothing left to craft since i made a chest already but for somereaosn wont count the recepie itself
That's the recipe from Robin's Resource Rush on the special orders board, not the main Stone Chest.

Just checked on the wiki, Big Stone Chest is one you buy from the Dwarf I think
But you can't buy it until AFTER you do that quest

Your debug commands are only adding the normal Stone Chest and not the Big Stone Chest, which is likely why those didn't work
Uncertain why the Dwarf wouldn't sell you the recipe for the Big Stone Chest if you've completed Robin's Resource Rush though.

turns out in my panic and missreading/the tracker displaying things incorrectly i DID brick it

Yikes! I was going through the debug commands and trying to replicate the error and make sure I could add the recipe, which I can.
Have to use debug craftingrecipe Big Stone Chest to get the correct one
so the tracker website was bugged and DIDNT display the BIG stone chest as something i needed to craft which lead me to missread that the recepie missing as the regular stone chest when it was the big one and in my rush to force it to regonice the little stone chest i did a give all recepies command which then gave me the LARGE stone chest there for removing it from the dwarf but did NOT count it towrads the achievement
luckily i had the sense to back up my save before touching console comands
i re loaded the old pre command save and baugh the recepie and crafted it the big chest even though the tracker didnt list as a needed
the achievment triggered

HD Portraits packs can be used with Portraiture, which is updated.

There are quite a few mods out of date in here, and TMXL needs to be dropped entirely since you're running Stardew Valley Expanded. It can and will cause your game to implode because of the Forest map.

Try to look for newer versions of the mod. They’re marked incompatible.

I havent had any problems with running tmxl and stardew valley expanded together, i only have it cuz a couple mods need it but ill see about removing them. Also the mods that need updating dont have updates available on nexus mods, i went looking for them and theyre just not there, and some mods have updates for parts of the mods that im not using

You may need to double check their mod pages again because I did a spot check and most of the mods listed under "you can update these mods" do have updated files on their NexusMods pages. Make sure you are looking on the Files tab to get the most recent version!
Go by version number instead of date in this case, because I noticed that one of my own mods, Useable Community Center, shows version 2.0 as the newest but does not show the correct date that I uploaded it, which was... A few days ago.
Guessing it had to do with a Nexus hiccup

I was wondering if anyone knows a workaround for the elven Krobus Mod... I loaded it up along with standardized Krobus and everything works ... I of course know it is not updated for 1.6... but the only issue is his feet are on his head... :D... hoping someone uses this and has privately fixed it that could explain how... if not its cool... Just wishing someone would look into updating it but also know its been a long time since it was even touched...
The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.

Without looking at the actual code and just reading the function names - It's trying to prep something for saving, then passing a null object, which proceeds to cause issues

Black walls next to stairs? It's missing 1.6 tiles, there's a fix on Nexus

Good to know - The usual error we see is just black walls next to the stairs - Haven't seen that particular tile issue before.

It's a known bug, do debug killnpc NPCNameWithProperCapitalization in console to kill off a clone.
If they constantly clone when you walk to them, it's a different ish issue I believe

that last preview picture also doesn't have those vertical lines like the first picture has.
It's there in their first preview though - I think it's related (border edge?) to whichever tiles are placed down on the left/right.
Might be just flooring/furniture/decoration being placed there.

Aside from a log as linked above, what symptoms exactly, are you seeing?
when i try to turn the game on, it just quickly goes to the smapi loading thing and imidietly dissapears closing the game

you cant apply mods on iOS is the thing, to apply a mod you have to use smapi unless its an xnb mod which replaces the game files themselves, which you also cant do on iOS because iOS doesnt allow that

No I dont. I never got any kind of error messages or anything, but I just noticed how some mods worked and others didnt. for example, Im using a mod that gids rid of the bus fare, but when I went to use the bus, It still asked for a fare. I never got any kind of error message from the mod, game, or console, it was like it installed and then just didnt work without saying anything if that makes sense

oh in that case those mods are probably not updated for 1.6 or have bugs, in which case you need to report it on the mod page

also just for refrence, if something wasnt posted/updated after march 2024, it might have problems (as a rough rule of thumb)?

You're also using Vortex, which may be causing issues - You've got several mods that have screwed up file structures and aren't loading

Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.
It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.
Some options:
- Install mods directly (which is easy and safe in Stardew Valley!).
- Or use Stardrop, a mod manager specifically designed for Stardew Valley.
- Or get help with Vortex in the Nexus Discord or Vortex support forums.

the screwed up files aren't loading for a reason, I deleted them 🙂 those don't worry me. it's just the FRS

If you want to just disable but not remove a mod, put a . in front of the folder name (SMAPI will ignore folders starting with a .)
I don't see FRS anywhere inside your log - Can't see why it would still be affecting your save in an actual gameplay sense

And yeah - Stardrop handles much better, I've seen some wild issues in game that are Vortex specific and make no sense.

Try just launching the StardewModdingAPI file in your Stardew directory - I've seen behaviors change when just launched directly

Ok - I see a couple of mods that would tinker with room layout, not sure if either one is responsible. Can you try disabling / removing PIF - Personal Rooms and seeing if the issue persists?
