Vortex isn't recommended for Stardew Valley.

It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.

Some options:

(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

We recommend the nexus discord

Important note: Your computer username may appear in the log. If your username is your full name, please be aware of this before uploading it.

Please share your SMAPI log file. To do so:

  1. Open this page: smapi.io/log.
  2. Follow the instructions at the top of the page to upload the log file. (Don't copy & paste from the console window!)
  3. After uploading, it will show a green box with a URL to share. Post that URL here.

Please do it even if you don't see any errors. This has useful info like what mods and versions you have, what the mods are doing, etc. If the issue didn’t occur in your last session, please load the game to the point where the issue occurs, then upload the log.

Ok, now if you want to use Stardrop instead you can, but I have no idea how to help you with it. If you want to install mods manually (that is, you download a zip file from Nexus, then drag the folder from inside that zip file into your mods folder) I can help you with that.

I would make a bug report of that rose seed on cornucopia's nexus page though, they might not know about it and that could be causing the slowdown somehow.

pallid summit
# cinder knoll Do mods depend on ram?

you are only limited by your computer. RAM is the big one, since more mods means you consume more of it, and running out will bring your computer to its knees.
the other major factor is CPU speed, and it's mainly speed and not number of cores, since stardew is mostly single-core. more mods means more code means more waiting for loads and/or lag. the limit is mostly a function of how much patience you have

cinder knoll

Ah, I see, I have like 4gb max ram, 3.3 usable lol and my processor is a 1.40GHz, that's probably why

You can still play the vanilla game after having installed SMAPI. There's a few approaches:

  • In your game folder, run StardewValley.exe directly.
  • Or if you're playing through Steam or GOG on a Windows device: clear your launch options, then select play from your game client. See the !launchoptions command for more info.
  • Or change the name of your Mods folder to something else. Then launching the game will run SMAPI but with no mods loaded.
  • Or set up SMAPI as a custom game in Steam. See the !modgroups command for more info.

It's hard to troubleshoot and often causes issues like SMAPI/mods not being installed or updated correctly, files mysteriously disappearing, crashes, etc. Volunteers here often can't help with Vortex issues.

Some options:

(See also the Nexus App feedback thread, if you want to help Nexus avoid the same issues in their upcoming replacement for Vortex.)

sly elm
#

seems like vortex is eating files

graceful iris
#

screaming

#

Guess I'll be using stardrop then

sly elm
#

while you're at it, you can fully remove custom furniture, dynamic game assets and pytk lite from your mods, they're outdated and won't come back. then you also have a few xnb mods in your mods folder which won't work - you can either look them up and see if there's content patcher variants available, or use the xnb to CP converter that's available

#

your smapi log tells you in red which ones are xnb mods

graceful iris
#

Thanks!

sly elm
#

oh craft from containers can also be deleted, I missed that one. better crafting allows this in combination with better chests, as a replacement, should you want it

graceful iris
jagged current
#

i use stardrop to keep track of my mods and which ones need updates but i dont use it to fetch them for me.

sly elm
#

basically, you can use vortex but need to be prepared for it fucking files up - and since stardrop exists and even allows to connect to nexus for mod manager downloads, I don't see why anyone would to this to themselves

oh ffs

#

im late

#

and scrolled up

graceful iris

lmao

naive leaf
#

ignore me im so sorry

graceful iris
#

While I'm at it though

#

Anyone know how to clear download hisotry on Nexus?

naive leaf
#

Uhhhhh.... I can look it up real quick

#

You cannot

graceful iris
#

Damn

jagged current
#

its at the bottom.. that would be a really really nice feature.

graceful iris
#

That would be. Especially for starting fresh

#

Okay, so what do I run first? SMAPI or Stardrop?

sly elm
#

you can run smapi through stardrop

graceful iris
#

Great! Thank you!

jagged current
#

there used to be a mod that added an area north of the bus stop... it had buffalo... anyone remember the name?

naive leaf
#

(sorry for being 10 mins late)

naive leaf
jagged current
#

this one added like a hotel for npcs... and had a little cave... with dinos.

naive leaf
#

RSV???

#

Ridgeside Valley?

#

That one had a hotel in it, i think.

jagged current
#

no it was tiny mod.

naive leaf
#

hmmmm....

graceful iris
naive leaf
#

you don't even need to unzip it, just delete the zip file later.

jagged current
naive leaf
#

awh that sucks

graceful iris
#

Stardew modding is a bit trickier than Sims modding but not as ridiculous as Skyrim modding

naive leaf
#

I wanna do sims modding but hurgh, that requires me putting sims 4 back on this thing. Anyway! Enough chitchat from me

subtle anchor
#

Could anyone help talk me through downloading smapi?

pallid summit
#

!gs sure, join me at this link

native dragonBOT
subtle anchor
#

I have it pulled up on my MacBook

pallid summit
#

ok, great, that answers my first question! ("what OS are you running?")

subtle anchor
#

Yep

pallid summit
#

so right under "Install SMAPI" there's a link for macOS. go ahead and follow it

subtle anchor
#

On nexus?

pallid summit
subtle anchor
#

Ok

#

Done

pallid summit
#

cool! let's leave the macOS page open in case we need it. fire up a new tab and go to https://smapi.io/ to download the SMAPI installer

subtle anchor
#

Click download?

pallid summit
#

actually, last chance to check: you are running at least 10.15 Catalina, right?

subtle anchor
#

How do I check that?

pallid summit
#

(and yes, click Download SMAPI 4.0.8)

#

apple menu (top left corner of screen) -> about this mac, i think

#

it should be called something like that

subtle anchor
#

“Sonoma 14.5”

pallid summit
#

perfect. so yes, go ahead and download SMAPI

subtle anchor
#

On nexus

#

Manual right?

pallid summit
#

manual, yes

subtle anchor
#

Hold on

#

Ok

#

Done

pallid summit
#

great! go and find the zip and double-click it to unzip

#

(your browser probably has a button to open the folder that has the zip in it)

subtle anchor
#

“Smapi installer”?

pallid summit
#

yeah, more or less (it probably has a bunch of numbers in it too)

subtle anchor
#

Is there any chance you could talk on voice chat?

pallid summit
#

no voice, sorry

subtle anchor
#

Ok that’s fine

#

Double click the blue folder icon?

pallid summit
#

yes, that should take you inside

subtle anchor
#

Ok

pallid summit
#

there should be a file called install on macOS.command

subtle anchor
#

Yep

pallid summit
#

if you double-click that, it should start the install process

subtle anchor
#

A warning sign came up

#

Cannot install

pallid summit
#

hmm. do you have a "run this anyway" or "ignore warning" option? or is it just flat denied

subtle anchor
#

All I can click is “ok”

pallid summit
#

ok just click that to close it

subtle anchor
#

Ok

pallid summit
#

now instead of double-clicking, try right-clicking the same file and choosing Open

subtle anchor
#

The warning came up again but now I can click either “open” or “cancel”

pallid summit
#

perfect! click "open" (this is the "ignore the warning" option)

subtle anchor
#

Ok

#

Now a text thing came up

pallid summit
#

you should get a terminal window. yup

subtle anchor
#

It’s asking what is more readable

#

So I’ll answer this one

pallid summit
#

yup! up to you

subtle anchor
#

Now it’s a little weird

#

I’m gonna try and send a photo because it’s a lot to write

pallid summit
#

ok

subtle anchor
#

Ur fine with know ing my name right?

pallid summit
#

i won't tell anyone SDVkrobusgiggle (i'm okay with it if you are)

subtle anchor
#

Okie dokie

pallid summit
#

okay, this is the "where to install" question. this time it's easy: pick 1 (your Steam install)

subtle anchor
#

Okie dokie

#

Then install?

#

“1”

pallid summit
#

yup!

subtle anchor
#

There

pallid summit
#

ok super! now before you close this

subtle anchor
#

Mhm

pallid summit
#

select and copy the "Game path"

subtle anchor
#

Ok

pallid summit
#

/Users/k.../Library... etc.
the whole thing, up to the MacOS at the end (continued across the line break)

subtle anchor
#

👍

pallid summit
#

ok, now in the Finder, use the Go menu and select "Go to Folder" (command-shift-G)

#

paste in the game path and hit Enter to go there

subtle anchor
#

Go menu?

#

Oh ok

#

Done

pallid summit
#

ok there should be a picture of the MacOS folder somewhere. right-click it and select "Make Alias"

#

("the MacOS folder" meaning the folder you are currently in)

subtle anchor
#

Umm

pallid summit
#

we're making a shortcut so you can get back to this folder quickly and easily instead of navigating through the whole path every time

subtle anchor
#

Ok…

pallid summit
subtle anchor
#

I can’t find what I’m supposed to right click

pallid summit
#

check Step 3 there and see if that looks familiar

subtle anchor
#

Ok so.

#

I can’t get to the picture it’s showing

#

I’m not sure how

pallid summit
#

can you send a screenshot of your finder window?

subtle anchor
#

Here

pallid summit
#

hmm, ok

#

can you try to find your Mods folder here inside this one?

subtle anchor
#

Yep

#

Hold on

#

Done

pallid summit
#

great. we'll just do the alias for that one. right-click -> Make Alias

subtle anchor
#

Done

#

Something appeared below saying moss alias

#

Mods*

pallid summit
#

ok so now you move the alias folder to somewhere convenient, like your desktop

subtle anchor
#

Ok

pallid summit
#

and that should be it!

subtle anchor
#

Ok-

pallid summit
#

if you launch the game now, you should see a SMAPI console open along with the game

subtle anchor
#

Ok let me try

#

Like this?

pallid summit
#

yup, you are all set!

subtle anchor
#

So now moss should work?

#

Omg

#

Mods*

pallid summit
#

yes!

subtle anchor
#

Gimme a sec I want to try it out

pallid summit
#

go for it. you'll unzip mods you want to use into the mods alias folder we made earlier

#

(this is why we made it, so you can get to it easily instead of difficult-ly)

subtle anchor
#

Ok so I downloaded a mod

#

Now I open the folder?

pallid summit
#

yeah, open your Mods alias folder

#

double-click the mod zip, just like you did with SMAPI's zip, to unzip it

subtle anchor
#

Ok

pallid summit
#

then drag the mod's folder into your mods alias folder

subtle anchor
#

This is frustrating

#

It doesn’t seem to be working

pallid summit
#

then, in case i didn't make this clear, you'll have to close and relaunch stardew

subtle anchor
#

I meant I can’t seem to move the mod folder into the one I made

pallid summit
#

hmm

subtle anchor
#

Nevermind I got it

#

Now ima see if it works

#

I think something went wrong

#

I probably should have told you but I think I accidentally deleted a folder when trying to move the mod folder over

restive cypress
native dragonBOT
subtle anchor
pallid summit
#

yes, you've lost Console Commands (not a critical loss, but check your trash in case it's recoverable)

subtle anchor
#

I don’t see it

restive cypress
#

For uiinfosuite2 make sure to use this version.

pallid summit
#

farmer sticky has what you need to fix the broken mod error

subtle anchor
#

Hmmm

pallid summit
#

console commands is the folder you accidentally deleted when you were trying to install the other mod

subtle anchor
#

Right

#

Was it important and can I get it back?

pallid summit
#

not that important. if you run the SMAPI installer again and choose install just like last time, it will be restored

subtle anchor
#

So repeat the process?

pallid summit
#

yeah, except you won't have to download it again. but also, you don't have to if you're worried about it

subtle anchor
#

Ok

#

Shoudl that fix the modding issue I had?

pallid summit
subtle anchor
#

Ok thanks

subtle anchor
#

K

#

Trying it again

#

Perfect thank you sm!

pallid summit
#

sure thing. happy modding!

subtle anchor
#

It worked!

subtle anchor
idle iron

I need help im having a small issue i think

neat plaza
idle iron

it says i cant dowload it?

neat plaza
#

No it doesn't

Scroll down about 400 pixels

idle iron

Ohhhh

#

ok

#

can someone send me a video of like how to download a mod properly how to unzip it?

neat plaza
#

!gs

native dragonBOT
idle iron
#

idk how to unzip it and like add it to the games files

#

i have it downloaded

#

the mod

#

i thinkkkk

night bough
#

Do you know where your game folder is? if not, i’d go to the link above and start in that section

#

because you want to extract to your Mods folder inside your game folder.

idle iron
#

IT WORKED OH MY GOD

#

THANK YOU

#

I swear i felt like an idiot trying to figure this out

#

I promise im not slow 😭

night bough
#

we all start somewhere 💚

idle iron
#

Thank you so much

night bough
#

yeah and if you feel overwhelmed by the wiki (esp. on mobile) just remember that the table of contents on every page (only accessible through desktop version) is your very good friend

#

this bit. makes it a lot easier to digest and break up the info into smaller more manageable pieces

#

sadly there isn’t a title for “how to unzip” but the answer is in find your game folder and install mods

#

it’ll all get easier as you go on

idle iron
#

Thank you so much you are a lifesaver i got so upset with myself 💀

night bough
#

of course! happy to help! trust me i was there once too! we’re here to play a game and have fun, don’t be too hard on yourself SDVpufferheart

#

any other questions?

idle iron
#

yes one more

#

sorry btw

#

im downloading the farm type manager one of the needed ones for the final mod i think and i forgot what to click on

night bough
#

So that looks right to me

#

You shouldn’t need to click on anything in there

#

Just make sure that whole folder you’re inside of in that screenshot goes in your mods folder too

idle iron
#

ohhh the screenshot so not the entire folder

night bough
#

Uh. Sorry. The whole mod folder named FarmTypeManager needs to go in Mods

idle iron
#

here sorry to make it confusing this is what is in my mods

night bough
#

Could I see inside the Mods folder please?

#

Also you can delete the SMAPI installer

idle iron
#

Ok how do you delete it

lethal mantle
#

just like right click the folder and press delete (or move to reclying bin) lol

idle iron
#

sorry 😭

#

this is my first time even touching any of this

night bough
#

No i think i get what you meant. You were wondering if you needed to uninstall or any special steps but yes ben is correct, you can just trash it SDVpufferthumbsup

night bough
# idle iron

Okay so this means wherever you’ve been extracting your mods to or putting them it hasn’t been your mods folder

lethal mantle
# idle iron

shouldn't they have errorhandler? or is that not in current smapi or something i havent followed smapi updates in like a year

night bough
#

Nope outmoded

idle iron
night bough
#

In base 1.6 now (or rolled into smapi one or the other)

lethal mantle
#

oh wow we've evolved

idle iron
#

with the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley

night bough
idle iron
night bough
#

Well there’s two options

#
  1. Yes, you can extract all on each again to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods. But you’d still have to go and find the previous extractions and delete them.
  2. Go find the previous extractions and just open a new file explorer window to your mods folder and drag and drop the previous extractions in
#

Either way works

idle iron
#

Ok ill do the second bc im having trouble with deleting

#

bc it says it replaces all the files

#

if i try to do it again

night bough
#

when you try to do what again?

#

extract?

idle iron
#

yeah sorry

night bough
#

if it’s saying you need to replace or overwrite, then you’re not extracting to the right place i’m pretty sure.

lethal mantle
#

just to be clear you extract zip files to turn into folders, but once they're folders they dont need to be extracted again and can just be moved around

idle iron
#

OH

night bough
#

But yeah like ben says, let’s do option 2 since we’ll need to find them anyway

idle iron
#

Ok

lethal mantle
#

i feel like u (jas) were using extracted as a synonym for moving lol when thats not rlly what it means in a computer context

night bough
#

I wasn’t as far as I know. Where did you see that?

#

Ahhhh

idle iron
#

I think thats what i was doing

#

Because i didnt know how to move it

#

im trying to find the mods file again to move the mods into the right place

night bough
#

Open a new file explorer window. Type this into the address bar at the top: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods

idle iron
#

It gives me two options

night bough
#

That should bring you right there. then in your first window, you can select the mod folder and just click and hold and then drag the folder over to the other file explorer window and drop it right in

#

can i see? (screenshot of full window pls)

idle iron
night bough
#

nope so you don’t want to drop into either of those. those are mod folders too. you want to drop anywhere in the blank space below those two

#

(there might be an easier way to do this on windows tbc, this is just the way i know)

lethal mantle
# idle iron

ya from their u can add any other mod folder like save backup and console commands!

idle iron
#

Ok tysm for clarifying i was so confused what those things were

#

lets hope i dont mess the moving part up

#

so to be clear

#

again i just move not extract the mods

night bough
#

yes

lethal mantle
idle iron
#

i did it!

#

My first one! the farm typer one

lethal mantle
#

wooooo

idle iron
#

I moved it

lethal mantle
#

now ur offically a modder!

#

time to return to nexus and dowload 100s lol

idle iron
lethal mantle
#

those r zipped and not extracted SDVpufferwaaah

idle iron
#

😭

#

NO im sorry

#

at least im learning

#

/gen

night bough
#

no worries. easy fix. just extract them right in there

lethal mantle
#

just right click and press extract no each of them (i think u can extract all of them at once if u highlight them all?) and it will work

idle iron
#

before i hit it is this right

lethal mantle
#

ya

#

what what

night bough
#

Um. I might chop the end off? that looks like a smapi installer?

lethal mantle
#

is that the smapi installer zip???

night bough
#

but it’s not in the folder screenshot?

idle iron
#

I cancled it let me see again

#

so i have those three mods in the correct place

night bough
#

Yeah just chop the end off so it ends with \Mods

idle iron
#

right but they aren't in the right.. uhm format?

lethal mantle
idle iron
#

im autistic i feel bad for not getting it quickly enough i dont mean to upset you both

night bough
#

no no no

#

not upset at all at all

idle iron
#

thank you for staying patient with me

night bough
#

/genuine

#

we got this

lethal mantle
#

a good ruleof fun is that if the mod folders u install match the ones smapi comes with, they're probably installed right

night bough
#

So one of the three “mods” you’re talking about is actually the SMAPI installer zip

lethal mantle
#

but fr fr we got this ( i think we're done?!!??!?!)

idle iron
#

Ohhh

#

ok

#

I get it

lethal mantle
#

yes but pls get smapi installer out of there

#

i think ur wires got crossed earlier and confused it for a mod u downloaded

idle iron
#

so do i download the bigger one now or after i do this

night bough
#

Let’s try this

#

then launch and grab a log

#

to make sure no problems are hiding

#

then you can grab SVE

idle iron
#

okie! let me finish this then

lethal mantle
#

u can just delete smapi installer zip now its already installed

idle iron
#

it wouldn't let me but i can try again

#

ok it worked

#

wait

night bough
#

well kind of

idle iron
#

I DELETED THE WRONG ONE?

#

💀

night bough
#

can you look inside contentpatcher please

#

no no no

idle iron
#

oh

#

ok

lethal mantle
night bough
#

i think you might’ve just extracted content patcher and farm type manager into the content patcher folder

idle iron
#

it says content patcher and uh manifest

night bough
#

nothing else?

lethal mantle
#

wha

idle iron
#

No ill take a ss

lethal mantle
#

wait do u stil have smapi

idle iron
lethal mantle
#

i thought u deleted it?????

night bough
# idle iron

Can you take another screenshot here but with the file path showing please?

idle iron
#

i did? i dragged it into the trash

#

it shows it again

#

ill delete it again

lethal mantle
#

why is smapi installer thereeee

#

WAIT A MINUTE

night bough
#

yep

#

knew it

lethal mantle
#

now why r those 3 in the content patcher folder rn

idle iron
#

ok its gone

lethal mantle
#

jas what is happening r u cursed

idle iron
#

did i do something wrong

lethal mantle
#

i feel like everything is going wrong that can go wrong

night bough
# idle iron

because they selected them and extracted them to there, that’s why i was saying to chop the end off

night bough
idle iron
#

how can i work around this?

night bough
#

easy fix

idle iron
#

I dont feel like having a panic attack or something this small today/nm/gen

naive leaf
#

Dont worry, this stuff is easy once you get the hang of it

lethal mantle
#

why r they thereeee

#

ur fine lol

idle iron
#

OH

#

THAT

#

Duh sorry i was like

#

what are you talking abt

lethal mantle
#

why are those mods

#

in content patcher folder

naive leaf
#

Yeah they're in the wrong spot, hah. Dw though

idle iron
#

😭 i think i downloaded it too many times

lethal mantle
#

not mods folder

night bough
#

try unzipping farm type manager. just farm type manager

naive leaf
#

and make sure the extraction location is in the mods folder and nowhere else!

#

or like... desktop or something so you can drag and drop

#

as long as its not in another mod folder

idle iron
#

So stardew mods folder or somewhere else

lethal mantle
#

stardew mods folder 😭

night bough
#

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods

idle iron
#

oh that yes that link is gold

#

tysm

naive leaf
#

I'll let puppershuffle continue this so I dont accidentally add confusion, lol

lethal mantle
#

every mod you'll ever download for stardew (besides like 2 exceptions) will go there

idle iron
#

ok! so let me show you

#

its double

#

tho

lethal mantle
#

delete zipped versions

#

then we rolling

idle iron
#

which icon means

#

zipped

#

so i dont deleted the wrong ones

lethal mantle
#

it concerns me u dont know that by now

#

but the ones with the zipper

idle iron
#

yeah sorry

#

i cant see it thats why i asked

#

thank you tho

lethal mantle
#

okey so

#

i think we're good

idle iron
#

do i leave this be

lethal mantle
#

yes

#

wait no

#

get rid of farm type manager in that

idle iron
#

i didnt want to touch that w/o advice

lethal mantle
#

cuz 2 of the same mod cancel each other out

idle iron
#

done

lethal mantle
#

okay so final screenshot of mods folder

idle iron
#

is this where i'll put the final one once i load the game and try it out

lethal mantle
#

i think we're good

#

but like farm type mangager and content patcher dont do anything by themsleves lol

idle iron
#

I needed it for the final one

#

I didnt know how to download it

#

so i asked for help

lethal mantle
#

which one?

idle iron
#

those two

#

i kept moving it to different places

lethal mantle
#

what did u need ftm and cp for to begin with?

idle iron
#

i never modded before

lethal mantle
idle iron
#

Stardew Valley Expanded

lethal mantle
#

oooh expanded

idle iron
#

it said it was needed

#

so i got confused

lethal mantle
#

ya so

#

now u have them

#

so u can download expanded too

#

and add it to the mods folder

idle iron
#

Now i can download and move it to mods

#

ok

lethal mantle
#

i cant beleive expnded only needs 2 mods now, it used to need like 20

naive leaf
#

yeah, 1.6 did a lot for it

idle iron
night bough
#

You have all three

idle iron
#

ok just making sure bc they were gray before

naive leaf
#

i think it's because you clicked on them

#

normally when you click links, they change color

#

but idk if nexus works the same way, it's been a while since i clicked on a new dependency

lethal mantle
#

nexus is weird

night bough
#

Then same as before. Extract to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods

idle iron
#

Awesome i think i got it

i however dont use sve so i might not know something lol

sve problems of course, but also compat issues multiply as you add mods

You can mod your multiplayer games, but to avoid any hiccups, all players' mod lists need to match. If players have too many mismatched mods, you will experience bugs in your game - even if the mods were working fine earlier, there is no guarantee that they will stay that way, and strange things may start occurring.

There are a few exceptions to this - cosmetic mods usually work fine with no glitches, and some C# mods work as well. The main mod page often includes information on whether or not they work in multiplayer. However, in general, your mod lists should match exactly.

See the wiki page for more details on how mods work in multiplayer!

Multiplayer Mod Checker is an easy way to determine if host/farmhand mods match.

And if you and your cousin ever want to play modded together, that's when you match your mods and such. They also have to get smapi too

lethal mantle

can going back to unmodded save with new mods cause actual problems like corruption or something ? or would it just mess with like the mods progession or something

night bough
#

depends on mod

idle iron
#

I think i understand it good enough to teach them

naive leaf
#

I've added certain mods mid-save and it works fine, but yeah, it ultimately depends on the mod.

idle iron
#

its really simple when you get a hand of it

lethal mantle
#

i add most mods mid save so this is news to me

night bough
#

if they ever need help you know where to send them

Some expansions are not good to add mid-save, while rsv is fine. RSV was kinda.. made to be added midsave? Dont quote me on that, but I think it works fine.

They modded before like uh fnf the keyboard game but stardew is harder to mod i think

lethal mantle
#

i usually play for a couple hours, search for mods for a hour play for a couple hours and repeat

idle iron
#

so yeah ill guide them in the right direction

night bough
#

Hope it all goes well! Glad we could get it all sorted!

idle iron

rocky moth
#

android can be modded with some stuff?

timid garden
#

cause i added some portrait mods to my portraits folder and when i press p in game they just show up as the vanilla image so im guessing its cause they dont use portraiture

cerulean totem

do you still have a 1.5.6 version installed? this error usually pops up when you try to install SMAPI 4.0.x on 1.5.6

cerulean totem
#

like dat screenshot is literally wat it only says on cmd

lean star
#

if you do not, it is possible that the game update failed in some areas, in that case verify the game files and try again
worst comes to worst, reinstall the game

cerulean totem
#

ill try to reinstall again

lean star
#

you can check for residual installs by uninstalling and running SMAPI again, if you get the same error, there is one somewhere

cerulean totem
#

i couldnt even install smapi

#

still says the same thing

#

reinstalled stardew already

wanton nymph
#

hi, someone wrote on a mod page "Make sure you have all the required mods installed in the right locations". What does that mean? Don't all mods all go into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods"?

cerulean totem
#

2 times ady just to make sure

lean star
#

in that case you have more than one installation of Stardew, and of those was not updated but is the one found by SMAPI

#

start a search for stardewvalley.exe on your system
