Because if you updated the mod after playing last they might have removed or changed the item. Check the change log
how do i check the change log?
If they made one it should be in vortex or nexus if you got it there.

Can someone help me with this?? (I made the mistake of downloading a bunch of mods at once- and while everything technically works, a bunch of items are now blank? I hoped it would fit into one mod or another, but I'm missing all variety of items. I seem to be missing most fish roe, Cinder shards, Radioactive ore/bar, Monster Musk, Squid ink/ Squid ink Ravioli, Bug Steak, Banana Pudding, Mangos, Mushroom Tree seeds, Tree fertilizer, All types of deluxe soil, pressure nozzle, Warp totem island, Fairy Dust, and I know many, many more. The items are still there, its just their textures are all blank??? It seems to be a lot of ginger island stuff, and SVE stuff, but there's things that don't apply to either of those (like bug steak)
I have a feeling its only one or two mods causing this, but I have NO IDEA which ones- some of my mods need to be updated, but those ones are mostly old mods (furniture mods, and AT mods), that wouldnt change these item sprites

i don't think so??? I definitely didn't actually replace any files, I did have some xnb files that I converted to png using this https://lybell-art.github.io/xnb-js/ though those were all portraits and character sprites

cause most of the more hefty mods (like wildflour) I downloaded yesterday, and then tested, and everything SEEMED fine, but today I downloaded like 30-40 retextures/portrait mods and I had no idea why this was happening

(1) takes like an hour for smapi to launch it
(2) takes like an hour for the saved games section to appear
(3) once my save starts loading it does the whole 'stardew valley isn't responding' and crashes

run smapi without any mods and see if it works normally. If it does, start adding mods one by one until your game experiences the issue again. Then, return here and let me know which mod is causing the problem. I may be able to help you keep it while preventing the game from crashing.

because its also possible if you havent had a driver update since 2023 you might need to look for one and manually update your graphics driver, i dont want to have you rolling back windows updates or anything before we've gone through other options

I'm not sure how that is related to what I said, but if you put the incubator in a location you don't like, you may or may not be able to move it. I haven't tested it, so I'm not sure.

i alr asked this before but i forgot to attach my smapi log ... anw i noticed that my mayo machine isnβt producing any gold star mayo when i use large eggs the same thing happens with large milk and gold star cheeses, does anyone have an idea which mod might be affecting it? the mods i can think of are cornucopia artisan goods, wilflourβs gourmand mod, and quaint living artisan goods and their respective dependencies although i canβt pin which exact mod is causing my mayo and cheese to be just normal quality

Probably the mod author forgot to change the mod's version in the manifest file.
You can change it yourself, it's not hard.

Did you click on the black SMAPI window by chance? If it says Select in front of the title bar, you may need to hit Esc so SMAPI can keep running.

omg it was walk of life maybe i glossed over it while reading the description when i first installed it but the mod changes the large eggs and milk to double the products instead of making them gold quality

if you look in #modded-stardew you'll see that someone is right now updating one of the "more gems" mods :D none of those two but one of them

hm I've been using 1.4.3 for the whole time, I must have had a reason for that but I forgot π I know 1.6.0 introduced a whole lot of new functionalities which is probably what is breaking a lot of stuff. it does not break any of the mods depending on it as far as I know, more the opposite, it makes them work again

the others ill have to check, but these I marked all converted to CP, so having these in your game is unnecessary and can lead to problems

I just took out the whole mod folder and went through all mods one by one to see which ones I wanted to keep and then searched for a replacement/update/fix first and would've checked if it's possible to keep the old things I absolutely want to keep (but there were none)
so many requirements and folder structures changed that it's really a lot harder to try to clear it out one by one

Nope, removing walk of life did nothing for the crash

you can make another profile in stardrop and disable mods that are very unlikely to be involved. that's how I do it, so AT and FS mods I turn off immediately basically always when I do trouble shooting, and then recolours and in general things that do superficial changes

Just so you know, there was an error with an event from the Spouses Island mod by mistyspring on the first log you sent but not on the second (assumedly you didn't play long enough the second time). The next time you're up for troubleshooting, I'd highly recommend the Event Tester mod. It's the only real way to troubleshoot events on 1.6 and it does a very comprehensive job about it. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up indirectly helping you find the cause of the crafting menu and buff icon drawing loop errors.

Hi hi! I am trying to install SMAPI on my Mac (running Monterray) and it is giving me error log after error log on the install. I tried to do the manual install and it's still not working :( Here's the error message I keep getting: "Process terminated. Infinite recursion during resource lookup within System.Private.CoreLib. This may be a bug in System.Private.CoreLib, or potentially in certain extensibility points such as assembly resolve events or CultureInfo names. Resource name: Argument_CultureNotSupported"
I also have a friend who does a LOT of mods trying to help with no luck... figured I'd turn to yall!
I also tried replacing that file with my friend's file with no luck. There's no error log so I can't look at it on the erorr log reader.
A few quick questions:
- Where did you download SMAPI?
- Have you ever run stardew through steam on its own?
- Why are you doing a manual install? And what path are you specifying?
- Are your Steam launch options empty?
- Is your mac an M1 mac?
- Why are you running Monterray and not Ventura or Sonoma? This is not meant to imply you should update, just genuinely wondering
Through Nexus, yes I've run stardew on its own, manual install because the automatic gives me the error message, m1 mac yes!

Ah about how to play vanilla?
I have a vanilla farm with my partner and I want to play modded on my own time, vanilla with them
RIght. There's a few ways. The simplest is to go to the game folder and straight launch the StardewValley executable/unix thing. But I honestly am a bit tired and can't remember whether that messes with steam cloud syncs. Even if it does, 1.6 fixed a lot of the issues that come from that so you should be fine anyway. But, what I would recommend is what I tend to do myself. Which is get people to install smapi and that's it. Then all you have to do is get something like Stardrop (mod manager) or set up separate mod folders (i can grab you a link for both, one sec)

they're not throwing any errors, they're just not being loaded into the game, if you want to have them just locate them and extract them
it only appears in trace, on the smapi.io site you can see that by enabling trace messages (there's a button right over where the log begins that says trace)

After doing troubleshooting, the mod causing the menu crashes was yet another cooking skill.
if there's more menu errors, try removing stack everything redux, puppershuffle did some digging through your log and found some hints that it could be causing errors (but doesn't necessarily have to)
well my process which pinpointed the yet another cooking skill mod involved disabling half of my mods, attempting to hover over the fried egg item in the cooking menu to see if it caused the crash. Then doing that over again with half of the mods what were causing the crash.
I'll keep that in mind for future crashes though

Removing Yacs might fix your issue for now, but if another mod also uses Spacecore's buffs for the food menu, you'll run into the issue again.

I'm trying to download a starvew valley reshade mod :) i aleady have a proper persion of smapi installed, along with a bunch of mods, so I know the gist of downloading mods and putting them in the folder. However, when it comes to reshades, the file downloads in a zip file, rather then a regular folder, and I'm. really not experienced with zip files as I'm on mac; I'd appreciate help from literally anyone π

please do not delete your save files unless youre not planning on using that save again
It does the same thing even with no mods
- On Windows, press the windows key + R and enter
%appdata%/stardewvalley/errorlogs - On Mac, from your desktop click Go in the menubar (in the top right), then "Go to folder..." at the bottom of that menu. Enter

Has anyone helped you? If not, there definitely isn't any error being thrown by UIInfoSuite2 so this appears to be a pure compatibility issue. I would recommend checking UIInfoSuite2's github issues and RSV nexus posts to see if anyone is having a similar issue. And definitely asking in RSV discord (invite on mod page) could be a good shout too.
iirc someone else went through this today in modded farmers and tested everything, and said that birthdays get unlocked when having talked to a person (so basically, after getting to know them)
we need the log from you and your friend for this specific issue - you both need the same mods. you're also trying to run a lot of outdated mods which need to be removed regardless of whether you're running multiplayer or not. could you aquire a log from your friend as well so we can check what they need to do on their end?

Farmhand is crashes on join or comes in on my farmhouse in their cabin location but you can only see the tool they're holding and they're unable to move. advanced save backup is one but im still going through both of your logs so give me a moment!
the other ones are cjb cheats items, multiplayer mod checker and auto fish as they have auto fish in their pack already
advanced save backup throws an error when I launch on their pc about having multiple so it doesnt load it so I just remove it from when I archive to rar
you guys have different autofish mods, if youre playing multiplayer you should try and have the same mods . can you guys connect to multiplayer fine vanilla?

I think the first thing that's going wrong here is you making mod packs. it's much better if you link your friend the mods to download themself (also sending them mods that aren't yours is technically mod piracy)

you could use stardrop mod manager if you've got different mod groups you might want to run in different saves
Hey, I've talked with other players from the modded farmers channel, and I've tried to disable mod by mod to see which one was causing the issue. At the end, I disabled all the mods except UIInfoSuite2 and it still didn't show the birthday icons from the NPC except for Lewis
So I considered that you need to "know" the NPC before UIInfoSuite shows the birthday icon
I tested it by meeting Pam and sleeping to her birthday and it indeed showed the icon

hio, im having trouble with my game loading. Its still trying to load with SMAPI 3.16.2 even though i removed that file near a mouth ago. I dont think its even on this desktop anymore but the game refuses to load with 4.0.8, aka the one i downloaded this morning. ive tried restarting my computer but idk where to even start on trouble shooting

you should always uninstall smapi through the installer! it removes all the files it needs to that way, so what you should do is run the smapi installer and then press uninstall when it prompts you to, and then try and install the new version

Once you unzip it inside the folder there should be a file named "install on Mac".
you do not have dynamic game assets installed, which those mods need to work, but DGA is outdated so id recommend downloading wildflours newest mods & cornucopia instead, which are made by the same people as the mods you want to load but are up to date for 1.6

Okay for anybody who can help me... I'm having a problem with automate. I know it's automate bc I uninstalled it and it fixed the problem. But I am getting a "put in chest" noise no matter where I am. Even on maps where I don't have machines or anything running.
It's very annoying.

I had this issue, though at the same time I was also dealing with a lot of lag with machines and full chests. Once I cleared that up, I didn't hear the noise like that anymore

I'm not having any lag. I've gone to a part of the map where I have no machine and sat there for several in game hours and it still makes the noise. That doesn't seem like lag.

I should have clarified that it was more stuttering. The more full a chest would get, the more and more it would stutter. I didn't notice it at first

This might be an issue with Stardrop paths then. Can you launch stardrop yourself and launch to the title screen please? If you can, then grab a log and a stardrop log too π

well I'll have to disappoint you and tell you that just because it's a visual thing, it doesn't meant it doesn't have to be synced - that only works for CP stuff. try syncing your AT packs
Also there's a mismatch between c# mods, even if those are visuals you'll want to have them synced up

Disabling mods with stardrop is helpful so you donβt need to worrying about deleting mods or moving them from menus when dealing with troubleshooting

Extra Details would be my guess although I've never heard of it. Your log says these are the only CP mods that edit Maps/Town, and I don't think Wild Animals adds any warps:

Itβs weird that the scythe works when NEA and YACS is installed but the fried egg is broken but when I move YACS but have NEA installed the scythe is broken.

Ok as of now its stable without yet another cooking skill and never ending adventure... I even opened the CJB Item spawner and tried to cause it with other items and it didn't happen

Removing Jumino Glades fixed all issues. Kinda sucks though. It was the only greenhouse alternative that wasn't crazy greedy or too small and the interior map and exterior png were really cute. The mod author said they couldnt really test multiplayer but the whole mod is content patcher so should I follow up by posting on content patchers page? I know pathoschild is crazy busy but maybe the data from the log would help? Unless it's the glade mods issue itself
it would be an issue with the mod itself and not content patcher afaik! content patcher incompatibilities typically very specifically let you know that its content patcher itself thats the issue, unfortunately youre just going to have to comment on the mod page and hope the mod author is able to take a look at it
for exteriors, you can use various AT packs (packs with farm buildings have the greenhouse usually) and for the inside, an independent greenhouse map instead - maybe sunroom greenhouse would work? it can be adapted to be smaller or bigger

Ah the only reason I'm hard stuck on it is because it's a placeable building and uses a different map than the main greenhouse. so I deleted Never Ending Adventure, and apparently had quests for that mod, and the quest strings are still in my quest log. Is there a way to remove them?

there's probably also a debug command for this but I don't know it :(

if you keep having problems like this I really recommend the route I have been recommending for a while now, which would be to take out all of your mods and installing them fresh, because I feel like you might still have remnants of old mods hanging in your mods folder and possibly even in your save
I tend to agree, though I think this is specific problem is an issue with deleting a mod that had active quests in my quest log
If I had to guess, the way to fix that is to reinstall the mod, use debug commands to remove the quests, and then remove the mod.
thats the route I'm taking now since everytime i tried to open my save file in notepad it stopped responding
The debug command would be debug removequest <questID> if you need to take individual ones out.
The nuclear option would be to use debug clearquests but that wipes ALL quests in your log and not just the one you'd target with the first command.

So I reinstalled NEA to complete the two quests, and the menu bug fixed itself. I'm going to remove these quests any delete the mod anyway.
is it a special order quest, or a different one? There are instructions in the most recent NEA file description to complete Hector's special order quests.

If it's something other than the special orders, we would likely need to dig through the Quest data for the mod to find the IDs, as I don't believe they are listed anywhere specifically.

When unzipping a manual download of Unlockable Bundles, I get this weird folder structure (see below). Seemingly a copy of Unlockable Bundles inside itself. I haven't dug into Assets or i18n to see if there are differences but the manifests are different.

The outermost says 3.3.1 and the innermost says 3.2.0. I found this tracking down what I thought was a manifest error when updating through Stardrop (mod manager download button). That download (I clicked delete previous files) seemingly striped off the outer and only kept the inner (3.2.0). The posts on the nexus page show someone using Stardrop complaining of a manifest error (like I originally thought) and the author states they don't see one. So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas before I post on the nexus page.

Oh and worth noting is that when that entire folder (with both the outer latest and inner outdated versions) is placed in the mods folder, SMAPI seems to be content just looking at the outermost. Which lines up with what the user on the nexus post reported https://smapi.io/log/72216f6dbf094f2d90e5b292ce8691bd So my wonder is whether somebody else could reproduce this folder structure when downloading manually. My two rough ideas for it not being an Unlockable Bundles issue are (1) weird mac stuff (but unsure if user on nexus was on mac though) and (2) less likely, stardrop somehow interfering with a nexus manual download?

if it was a 1.5.6 Android save, make sure you've opened it on PC once in 1.5.6 before trying to open it in 1.6-- you may need to switch to the legacy branch and get SMAPI 3.18.6 to try that out, just in case.

Okay, so the error is saying you have Content Patcher in two different folders
You have two different versions of Content Patcher, check your Mods folder and find the one that says Content Patcher 1.25.0-1915-1-25-0-1645913158 and remove it.

We aren't allowed to share mod files as that counts as mod piracy and goes against the mod author's wishes. However there's lots of mods come as .rar files so you'll just need to use 7-Zip or Winrar to extract them.

So I just got SMAPI and im looking at the folder to find the download options and internals, I did the set up and it runs stardew fine, but where do I put mod folders now? Like if I want to add something, where do I add that mod folder too? Does it go into the internal section?

I know JsonAssets is increasingly outdated and unneeded - I'm not sure what it's current state is in 1.6

It's more that a lot of JSonAsset mods (And I'm going heavily off memory here) should be redesigned for Content Patcher now that it supports similar features
What version of the game was the last time they worked properly?
JSON Assets is still being supported and developed for 1.6 for backwards compat at this time AFAIK, it just wasn't updated for a little while after the 1.6 release.
The version waffle toast has should be fully compatible

Ok - from the image, that's from Pink Chocolate Bonbons, which is listed as loading in the game. Are these craftable items / cooking items? If you look at the method for obtaining them, do they look proper there?
the bonbons are cooking, the pink chocolate is a crop. I had them all saved in that chest for later along with the custom cute desserts from that other mod

Ok - those textures in the third row look like the Bonbon set? If you mouse over them, do they look like proper recipes with proper ingredients?
my only other thought was I did install the pokemon ranch mod before starting today? but disabling it doesn't make it change

The potential issue is that it was a 1.5 mod (February 2024 release date) - I'm curious whether the 1.6 update / 1.6 jsonassets changed something internally
it is working tech it's just something was changed about the recipes
i do believe the newest JA udpate changes some things
JSON Assets migrated ID names to use a ModID where possible in a recent release, IIRC
author might have updated without changing the version number
but even if I don't have the recipes now I didn't think it would make the items themselves totally disappear
If the base IDs no longer match, then they would
that checks and would def make the food become error and recipes to be locked again
if the game registers u have a recipe unlocked and the ID of the recipe changed, the game would no longer register it as unlocked
after downloading all the mods everything seems fine
i used debug cooking to unlock all recipes
New items likely won't error but any old items pre-update may have broken if the mod author didn't use the ModID.ItemName or ModID_ItemName naming convention

You can use something like CJB Cheats to replace all your old error items with the updated ones if needed

For what it's worth, that's the kind of mod that should really be converted to Content Patcher going forward - no idea if the mod maker is working on it or not
they have made 1.6 mods, but their last comment says this:
mods using JA don't inherently break the game, it's just less recommended
And this is probably one of the reasons why it's less recommended - There's 'weirdness' from the update to the underlying dependencies
The Content Patcher rewriter definitely avoids a lot of the backwards compatibility issues
also where in the cheats menu is the spawn item option

If you have consolecommands installed, you can also do "debug f itemnamewithnospaces quantity", but that's probably less easy then a proper mod to spawn them
you always have console commands installed, it comes with SMAPI btw
You should always have it installed - It gets deleted a lot by folks
When they're cleaning out their mod folders / updating stuff.
Because "Ok, new mods, just start with a fresh folder". But it happens, quite often, so it's never a safe assumption.

There's also debug commands to force set your money, but I'll leave it up to you which you'd prefer
sleeping didn't make them disappear so I might have to try the debug thing tomorrow but then I'd have to add up the price of every single thing and idk if it's worth it

Yeah - the quitting to title is what makes them vanish because they aren't stored beyond that point
But if you were going to just force set money, you just look at your money at the start of the day, trash can them all, then force set your money back to where it was at the start of the day

Hello there! Is it possible to re-trigger mails for crafting recipes? Or any other possibility to unlock them? I use the "Advanced Casks"-Mod and didn't receive the mail to learn "Hardwood Keg" - and that's one of a few last items I need for perfection. I think the problem could have been caused by another mod which enabled Robin Marriage and I divorced her after a while. Parts of this mod (although it is uninstalled and the folder is deleted as far as I could see) seem to cause issues like missing dialogues and stuff like this.

Most mods should be OK to install/uninstall at any point in your save unless explicitly stated otherwise in the mod's description! Some mods suggest starting a new save, others require it, but the majority (like 90%) don't do either, so I'd just make it a habit to read the descriptions, even if it's just skimming over it for key words because it's different for every mod
