Hey. So I got back into the process of updating all my mods. I tried reinstalling risgeside to be comparable with 1.6. The issue I’m running into is all the ridgeside villagers are still in their beds. It was 10 am when i got up to the ridge My log

yeah that's also going to be easy as people can add new animals via CP now
but I think AT is your best bet for that rather than Adopt n Skin
for pets, Adopt N Skin was the thing

If a mod you use is not ready for release day, please do not harass the mod author to update - mod authors are people who may have other time commitments and cannot immediately update their mods.
If you have questions as to whether a particular mod will be ready for release day, it is best to ask the mod author themselves. Please keep in mind a lack of response does not necessarily mean the mod is being abandoned - the mod author may not have time to respond or is hard at work behind the scenes. Most major mods will likely have an update prepared for 1.6 on or near release.

the NPC map, there's a different version on nexus, the version 3.0.0
the junimo mod might not be working anymore in 1.6
I don't doubt many are, I want to figure out which ones are lost causes or currently not working

Double check the Files tab for NexusMods pages, if there is an alpha version for 1.6 that just hasn't been promoted to Main File yet, there is a chance that one will work.
Some of the alpha versions broke anyway, but quite a few seemed to have survived the official launch in working order.

As for the content patcher, you got the right version, not sure why it won't load the dll, have you tried redownloading?

Are you using smapi.io/mods to check? That's probably the quickest method to determine 1.6 mod compatibility.

Vortex is highly discouraged for Stardew Valley modding, it tends to break mod files and sometimes the SMAPI install itself

whats the difference between vortex and stardrop
Stardrop is coded specifically to work with SMAPI and Stardew Valley whereas Vortex is more generalized and doesn't always handle SMAPI files properly.

The SMAPI website maintains a list of mod compatibility records for... a lot of mods. Definitely a good place to check for a quick comparison of your existing mod lists, since it's searchable
Well, my schyte, axe, and pickaxe is gone because of some of the mods that doesn't work. I don't know if there is a way to save my save, if i should go back to a previous version, or what i can do. I don't even remember where i put them, but they aren't there

Have you already installed SMAPI? If so, it is typically located in the same folder as your Stardew Valley game executable.

I have have Stardew Valley on PC Game Pass.
I've followed these instructions to install SMAPI:

Hi, i've noticed both DC Burgers portrait pack and KateKat Pixels portraits have stopped working since i updated. Is this a general issue with portraits, or an issue on my end? SMAPI doesn't throw anything up on loading, the portraits just don't change in game

If they are Content Patcher mods, then they might not be coded to work with the new NPC Appearances code yet, so in game Appearance tweaks may be overriding them. If they are XNB mods, then they got purged when you updated Stardew Valley to the newest version.

ok so i set the smapi path and it automatically filled in the mods and stardrop installed mods pathways. but stardrop isnt showing the mods that are sitting in my mod folder
It's not an actual game error, it's just Medal polluting the game log

Try to readd them through Stardrop so it will put them in the right place. If they still don't work, then the mod files might need to be redownloaded, in case they got damaged from a previous mod manager (like Vortex)

Manual download would prevent any file damage, but you should still add them through Stardrop after downloading if you intend to use Stardrop

Download them to your Desktop or Downloads folder and add them from there if you want to avoid trouble later, SMAPI might get confused if the mods are in both it's mods folder and Stardrop's.
(if you get an error about duplicate mods, that will be why)

Alright, if you are on Windows, I'd suggest verifying your game files next. Be aware, if you use XNB mods, this will murder them.

Honestly, first step for anyone having issues post-Vortex should probably be reinstalling SMAPI, but I don't like to presume Vortex was used.

There are some instances where you will need to use the compatibility version of the game. Please be aware that SMAPI/game mods are not compatible with this version.
On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
On GOG: From the game's page, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... > then "compatibility" under the Beta channels dropdown.

You have options if you are worried that the update to 1.6 will break your modded save.

Copy and move your game folder to a new location on your computer and launch SDV directly from that new location. For easier access, pin the new location to your favorites or create a shortcut to the .exe file on your desktop!

Rename the game folder to "Stardew Valley 1.5.6" and launch SDV directly from that new location. NOTE: You will not be able to play through Steam anymore unless you also set up the game + SMAPI as a non-Steam game method, so keep that in mind if you care about total playtime hours or achievements.

Its strange that they all say a DLL is missing, one last thing to check: is an antivirus running while you downloaded these? Sometimes Avast or similar will strip pieces out of downloaded mod DLLs and break them.

If you're on steam you can revert it by verifying integrity of game files, maybe also remove anything related the the recolor mod first tho

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself

yayy i found a working texture change for 1.6
for me timespeed is also broken, the arrow that shows the time in the top right corner spins like crazy and jumps and you suddenly fall asleep far too early. I COULD completely stop the time, but that is not very helpful

hi all, i cant get my stardew to run at all each time i try it says this (the image), i dont know what to do or how to install it it keeps not working and i have like 150 hours on the game. I downloaded smapi ages ago but never actually used any mods on it because i couldn't work out how so if anyone has any ideas or tips to help undownload or bypass smapi :) I am on MacOS like macbook air if that helps

Oki oki well what I found confusing was that you can "force pause" and "vote for a pause", it's the config settings. There's just too much to look at, y'know. We had the Multiplayer Time mod by lolmaj originally, but disagreed with the settings it had for Skull Cavern.

In my case it was with Animal Husbandry.

Because the Nexus mod page is set to 1.4.0, which is independent of the manifest.json file.

You can let the mod developer know that the manifest is not updated. Once they correct it on their side (and you redownload it), the issue will go away. Otherwise you can manually change the manifest.json version yourself to make the notification disappear.
This problem would occur even without Stardrop; SMAPI would give you the same update available notification.

uh i have a problem- lol i had the bigger backpack mod and it stopped working now and i cant see the last row but its like the items i had in it before are still there and i cant acces them and appernetly i had copper ores there..so now i cant in any way put copper ores in my inventory cuz i just lose them, i tried deleting the mod as well but the copper ore still just dissapears..

Hello! I was wondering if there's a way to not annoy mod authors but know if there's a "patch" soon? Like Zoryn's mods were updated a month ago, but pathos did update the core files 2 days ago but I can't find the files anywhere.... Half your mods, the other half gets put temporarily somewhere else. Load with only half of your mod loadout

ahh okay, i think ill do a fresh install of stardew and then try that! because it seems to only happen with vanilla cut scenes (first was clint giving my the blue print and now its me getting my dog lol)

Also please note that any older mods that add warps to the BusStop and Farmhouse interior may need updating: those maps changed and the old BusStop warps might land you in a wall if they haven't been moved over 10 tiles.
This includes anything that changes the intro cutscene or any other cutscene where you exit the bus at the BusStop
Json and Spacecor errors can be ignored so far. They aren't gamebreaking. As for SVE related erros. Some mods haven't been updated. People commented that the music still can play during the SVE scenes. Otherwise I would recommend joining the SVE discord server and keep an eye out there.

How do I go about doing that? I go to start up through SMAPI and I just get a black screen for the game. If I click on the game's window, it turns white then tells me SMAPI is not responding.

You can delete the error handler in your mod folders. It's integrated into SMAPI. Tell your buddy to do the same.

hi, so! I have my laptop which I mod SDV on. I also have SDV on my phone (iOS). I know you can transfer files from iOS to windows (I’ve never tried it but I know there’s a guide). Say, theoretically, if I transfer my file to my laptop, use CJB item spawner to grab some items I want, then remove the mods, then send the file back to iOS… would that break my game?

Can't say. You need to try it. Make a backup of your save you want to try it with.
