Files with the extension .zip, .rar, or .7z are archive files, which you can extract to get the actual files inside. For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. For .rar and .7z, you need to install third-party software first, like 7-zip https://7-zip.org/ on Windows (get the x64 version), Keka https://keka.io/ on macOS, PeaZip https://peazip.github.io/ on Linux, or ZArchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver on Android.
does it matter where i extract it or should it be a different folder than where i extracted my smapi

whatever order works. If you fail to download a dependency, the log will tell you loading the main mod. If you fail to download the main mod? You'll figure it out in game quick XD

Json Assets is a framework mod, it's not a mod loader
it's necessary for... practically any expansion mod, and it's not used itself

So, reinstall them, but after you reinstall you'll need to remove the PyTK dependency to run them. It won't change anything about the portraits, it's just the DCBurger portraits mistakenly identified the mod as needing PyTK, when it just needs portraiture

I was having the same issue as Raven, so this was helpful for me too. Thank you for explaining, PyTK was not depreciated when I played last, so I've been having to fix a lot of things lol.

The only way I know how to fix that is to revert two versions temporarily, get the data saved into the mod file, then transfer the data folders into the updated mod

I’m having a problem where my game will crash when I try to move furniture while it’s summer. Everything works fine during spring. Okay. I've tried to troubleshoot it but I'm a bit lost now:
The issue: Purple textures at the bases of fruit trees planted in the treehouse.
What I've tried: Taking out/putting back in some tilesheet mods, the custom tree mod (Foliage Redone), and the greenhouse mod (Spacious Greenhouse) and the issue persists.
Attached some LookupAnything points.
I'm assuming here that modData being blank is causing the issue(?) - if it isn't something as simple as a mod conflict, but I'm not too familiar what should go there - currently reading back in the server for guidance.
moddata being blank is normal, that's where modders can stash arbitrary data
but not every item in game will have something someone stuck on it

I am using the new CF and it says it can break furniture but that you should be able to rebuy and place, nothing about crashing

The file path to stardewmoddingAPI didn't work. What do others file paths look like?
Hmmmm okay I think I've got it?
Adding fruit trees onto greenhouse tiles usually gives a very slight blocky discolouring (I'd test this but I don't have a vanilla save at the moment) but it blends in with the colour of the greenhouse floor so no issue is seen, the purple was being added weirdly by the Starry Night mod which is a UI reskin to turn orange -> purple. When the Starry Night mod is removed then the textures look like the attached image. It's hardly noticeable on vanilla fruit trees as it looks like the second screenshot, which when on the typically orange greenhouse floor - blends in perfectly.
Summary (I think!): Weird combination of using the UI reskin, a different coloured greenhouse floor and custom fruit trees.

Magically, after deleting and repasting the file path again, it works. Confused, happy it worked and now I know how to find the filepath for things 🤷♂️
I also magically had my test save work fine. Don't know what changed. Unfortunately, after going back to my in-progress save it still crashed. After dinner, I'm going to try reverting and then deleting those items and re-reverting haha. If that doesn't work I'll just make a new save i guess

i downloaded hippos cliffside farm mod but idk if its working cus when i go on the game and try to start a new load it doesnt load the farm? is there something wrong on my part? EDIT : i fixed this i just had to make sure it was replacing the farm i wanted (i thought it was its own thing)
also im not quite sure how to switch back and forth from different interfaces i have the overgrown flowery one and also downloaded the vintage one but idk how to change from the flowery one to the vintage one

Heya, this is for my buddy. We set up our games to run Stardewvalley Expanded with its recommended mods. Two of us load in just fine, but one of my friends I set up freezes and crashes on trying to load into a game multiplayer or single, he cant get pass the char creator

Sometimes mods get flagged by overzealous antiviruses. If you're really worried about viruses in mods you can:
- download from Nexus or Moddrop, which check all files for viruses automatically
- preview the file contents on Nexus to see what you're downloading (content packs containing only images and json files are highly unlikely to be viruses)
- view the source code for most C# mods on Github by going to smapi.io/mods and checking the advanced options
- download and compile the source code yourself

if you're on steam, you can right click on sdv, choose browse local file, then double click Stardew Valley.exe to launch vanilla (no mod) assuming you're using windows

You can make a shortcut of that file into desktop so you don't need use browse local file again. But remember when you do this, steam needs to be running in background so you can get achievement or play with friends

If I'm having trouble with the game freezing/crashing when interacting with a specific CF (Custom Furniture) item, would it be better to get in touch with the modder behind that individual CF item, or with the modder behind CF itself? I checked the crash log and can't read it well enough to tell. Someone else reported the same bug already to CF, so I'll just comment there.

Uninstall smapi will delete Mods folder iirc. Back it up first if you wanna uninstall

@cursive sable First make sure you habe Smapi installed. Then go to nexusmods and find Stardew Valley Expanded. On the main page for the mod, there is a 'requirements' dropdown with a bunch of links to other mods on nexusmods. Download all the required mods and unzip them in you /mods folder. Then download SVE. Then unzip SVE in your mods folder. Profit.

you don't need premium to download anything on Nexus
premium lets you download faster
you just need premium to download a more than 3mb/s

Make sure you meet the requirements the mod needs. Since the mod has the word "expanded" in the name, you can add more big mods such as Ridgeside Village mod. SVE has now been served as the canvas to install other big mods. Also, unlike SVE, you there's also an option to download and install the RSV music pack.
Make sure your SMAPI and the frameworks are UP TO DATE

Hello! I recently started having an issue with my modded save in which it fails to load the save. This just started happening about a week ago. The game itself launches just fine with SMAPI, but as soon as I try to load my save, it gets to a slightly dark screen where I can barely see my character in his house, and then the whole game becomes unresponsive and I have to force close it.
Also, i find the spritemaster mod is absolutely amazing for speeding up load times. Makes it load way faster.
I'm guessing you're clicking in before it's fully loaded
Wait for a few minutes while it loads, then once you hear the money sound you should be able to click in
(If you have no money in-game, then just wait a few and then click in)
When you say click in, do you mean clicking on the game's tab to bring it to the front?
yeah. If you alt tab out - or even if it's still the main window and you just attempt to interact with it while it's loading - the game will go non-responsive and you won't be able to play

@acoustic merlin I would probably try removing pytk. But another option is installing spritemaster...as that deals with speeding up load times and how hangs are handled. So that might fix your issue. If not, remove pytk and see what happens

Will removing pytk affect any of my current mods? I can't quite remember if any of them depend on it lol. Could it make issues worse by corrupting my save file if any of my mods do depend on it?

it won't corrupt your save. And it may affect your current mods, but if you have the latest versions of them, it A) shouldn't and B ) even if it does that'd be a manifest mistake you can fix
Either way if you're that scared of it just don't save and your files will stay unaltered.

Well, I removed pytk and tried loading up my save again. I will say, it seemed that the load time of the main screen and the saved game locations was a bit better. I can say that you only needed PyTK for two portrait mods, which can have the dependency removed in the manifest and it will work
(Recent portraiture update made it so that it's unnecessary)

[#6024] "CF, TMXL and now Portraiture mods won't need to be updated to work with the PyTK free versions, they just need to remove the dependency (which didn't need to be there anyway) in their manifest and possibly Nexus page to remove confusion. They probably won't. Well it seems I found the issue! I decided to delete one mod in particular that I thought could potentially be causing problems, https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/15528?tab=files
Turns out it was this mod. Maybe not directly the mod itself, but more of what the mod allowed. I think I may have just had too many crops/trees growing in the buildings that this mod provided. And they may have all been trying to produce fruit/veggies all at the same time in the morning of the save
I reinstalled and uninstalled this mod multiple times to make sure it was this mod in particular, and it would only work without the mod in my load order
It's odd because I had been using that mod for a while with no issues, I guess just one too many crops planted may have done it in lol.
This might be something worth mentioning to PeacefulEnd (author of Solid Foundations)?
I don't think I've seen anyone else report this, but if you can reliably reproduce it that might be helpful info
In particular, zipping and saving a copy of your save/mods folder might be nice to preserve for later troubleshooting
It's potentially a function of your computer's specific specs, but if it's not then Peaceful can quickly test using your save and mods

@oblique jay The player above had an interesting bug(?) where when they have Wildflour's gardening sheds for SF installed, the game takes significantly longer to load in/never loads in. They can provide you with logs/save/mods folder if you're interested in seeing if it's replicable outside of their computer

Stardew Valley Expanded on Steam Deck has no sound when run from both desktop and game mode. Vanilla game sound does work. We've tried:
• Checking for any muted settings in Steam, Desktop, and In-game
• Reinstalling SMAPI
• Reinstalling ContentPatcher
• Reinstalling SVE
All to no results. I have a copy of the latest log I can send as well.
All prerequisites for SVE are installed as well, no other mods apart from Grandpas Farm

When running StardewValley-original all sounds work, when running the modded instance there are no sounds at all

Linux lets you set the audio of any process separately, I would check that first
check stardew valley setting audio, your device audio and check if you accidentalyy mute you audio in ur laptop or pc

i just downloaded stardew valley enhanced and when i make a new save i dont get the new farm does anyone know how to fix?

You messed up editing The manifest and you used the Nexus version of child2npc which is bad.
You need to get the unofficial update in order for that to work.

when it comes to the dialogue mods if i were to download more than 3 would they all run and add dialogue to its respective character(s)? im asking because they are all run with CP but none specifiy if they are compatible with the other

hi, i'm having trouble even installing smapi... i used to have it installed and i used to have a modded version of sdv on my computer, but i removed it to free up some space. now i'm trying to reinstall mods, but suddenly somehow don't have access to this folder, though when i go find it manually, i definitely have access to it?

first two are xnb mods. second two are outdated mod (for UI Ifo suite, type !uiinfosuite to get the newest version link

i deleted all the mods when i deleted stardew a few months ago and just redownloaded smapi today so i don't think uninstalling and reinstalling is going to fix it

just delete or move pytk folder then launch the game. smapi will yell at you which mod is still need pytk as red text

The crash is happening as it's trying to draw something that doesn't exist. Did you just update custom furniture?
I updated it when i was trying to figure out the issue before removing PYTK

Before I removed that, the game would load, it would show about half of my money loading, then stop. I'd click and it would crash. I just removed PYTK, and this time my screen had black parts around the edge of the map and then crashed

hey so my friend is playing a server with me and some people, its modded and we all have no issues, but whenever he enters the town square or pierres his game just crashes. does anyone know a fix for that on SMAPI?
