Delete old mod in your mods folder, buff, then extract the new mod to your mods folder

Saves won't delete if you delete mods, don't worry about that
delete the old one and put in the new one
Your configs for the updated mods will reset, but you can just set them again before loading the file again or drag out the config.json before deleting and then put the config.json back in after

you can just remove the mods. i play a multiplayer save with my husband on split screen and he hates mods so i just remove my mods from the game before we play on our modless save, and then move them back in when i go to play my save. but you have to ensure you are doing this with mods that have easy uninstall processes. there's a few mods i have avoided installing because i've seen that the uninstall process for them is a bit different, the shiko npc as an example.
you can just remove the launch options and it'll launch vanilla

i have free love and am married to sebastian and magnus. once I married magnus it immediately switched the patio from sebastians motorcycle to...whatever magnus' is lol. should i have custom spouse patios installed in order to be able to have multiple patios?
i even tried seeing if i could switch it back to sebs but couldn't figure it out so i was like ....hmm..i feel like im missing something here lol
i avoided the mod at first because i didn't want 65 different spouse patios surrounding my house but if its gonna keep switching them out the more people i marry i will scream lmao

So: Have one person as your main spouse, then add on Custom Spouse Patios for each marriage person you want. Caveat: When you marry someone, they will become main spouse until you swap that out with a bouquet, so it will swap regardless every time you marry. You'll just have to swap it back

Okay, in case someone else had the same issue: I had crackling audio in Winter. It triggered on snowy days (when the wind picked up and the snow went "whoosh") and it remained in the background constantly once it did. I managed to work around it by using a rain totem when UI info suite warned me that it'd snow tomorrow and it worked.

There's also a CP version of the mod, but that just replaces the sprites i think. so not sure if the BFAV version is any different

a lot of multiple copies, outdated mods, sve wasn't correctly installed it seems, and looks like a mod had its contents unzipped. some just aren't smapi mods it seems

Nothing really, just checking my mod folder. That, and it was lagging heavily when I had Downtown Zuzu in my mods folder, as it was taking too long to start a new day. When I removed it, it was more faster.
That's the usual with expansion mods - due to content addition, it always takes longer to load

SpriteMaster (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/4922) is a mod that resamples the game's graphics to be smoother and improves performance.
(assuming things haven't changed much, you can just disable resampling if you don't care for the graphics changes, but it helps with loading a bunch)

Yes. You need to boot your game, cause whatever issue (if it isn't passively caused), type patch summary in the command prompt window thingy that is SMAPI (the thing that shows up when you boot SMAPI), close the game, then upload the new log
If finding a log is too confusing and you're able to load your save, you can install the In-Game SMAPI Log Uploader to get the log without having to search through the files. Simply hold Left Alt in game and then click the Pufferfish symbol and the log will automatically be uploaded to smapi.io! https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/13979

Hey y'all! I'm trying to get Wildflour's Community Bundles to work. First I need to get the Challenging Community Center Bundles to work as well! I launched the game, but there's no config.json inside my folder
so the next thing I'd test - since Medieval Buildings is loading after (CP) Yellog's Wood Buildings, indicating it should override Yellog's version - is disabling Medieval buildings for the moment, or its coop if it has that as an option

If you moved it exactly as it was, that might actually be the cause of the problem. It's erroring out but not showing due to the mod manager, and if it errors out, it won't generate a config

The folder it's complaining about is the virtual folder it creates when launching SMAPI through MO2. it creates an INSTANCE of Stardew and puts all the mods in that folder when you launch. The config is generated when the game is launched, so SMAPI tells the game to put a config file in your mod folder, which means the instance of Stardew has been launched by that point

For example, someone in the past here had the Sailor Styles mod. Supposedly, just aesthetic. But it has a Json Assets component.

So: Your log and your friend's will be key to figuring out what's up. The differences at this point, now that you've supposedly evened out the mods, will allow us to check and figure out of the mismatched mods which is the likely culprit

Those four should be your main issues, L<3. The only ones I can't say for certain Content pack wise is the Penny Expanded and Elf Ears thing, but both of those seem to be fine (i.e. dialogue changes are client-only and so should Elf Ears be)
But as long as those four mods are not on both (or neither) you will still have issues, especially with the Elevator/portraiture/truffles things

Every mod in a log has their own row, unless they're in italics beneath another mod. Said mods in italics below another mod are content packs
Mod Organizer takes a very different and revolutionary approach. It never writes files to the game data directory, but instead creates and uses a virtual filing system (VFS). It is called virtual because it does NOT exist on the regular file system and only exists when MO tells a program it exists. When the game is started by MO, it is unaware of this VFS and thinks it uses the regular Windows file system. Therefore, all installed mods are loaded and used normally. The same is true for any other program started by MO

As a follow up, L <3, Generic Mod Config Menu is a C# mod and has its own "row". Then beneath it, Json Assets is also a C# mod, but below Json assets are mods in italics. Those mods in italics, like "Hannah's Fences and Gates", are content pack mods

that's the smapi console text, the log is a separate file. you also might need to load the save and try to warp to one of the new locations so that the problem shows on the log

Which means my guess is you replaced the wrong thing inside the RSV files and that borked it up
For now: Reinstall Ridgeside entirely to start
Then verify it works with the default portraits post-reinstall
If it doesn't, definitely log time, but usually a reinstall of at least the content patcher portion (easier to reinstall wholesale though) should fix it back to normal portraits. Then we can deal with adding the particular portrait replacer

I seem to have an issue with crows eating crops that should be covered by my Deluxe Scarecrows. I haven't seen the crows, just missing crops. Looking up "deluxe scarecrow" in the discord, it looks like Prismatic Tools might break them in some way? I wasn't using the "sprinklers are scarecrows" setting. At the moment my current game file seems fine but I've only played an extra day in game since i got that error in smapi and it seemed to save normally overnight and load the next day fine. Just worried as in my old save file which had the error it kept appearing every day and would cause the game to freeze when saving overnight and loading the next day + entering other parts of the map. I'm not good with mod and errors but it's flagged as a game error and doesn't seem like any of my mods are conflicting
Most of your mods look fine and it shows up on day generation, so I'm afraid I don't have any idea why it's happening. (It wouldn't be related to Ridgeside, by the way, and if you'd like to put Ridgeside back on you can use SpriteMaster to decrease your load times)

Thank you for your help so far. I've tried googling the first part of the error message and i can see some people get the same error but once they post their log there is nothing followed up. I'm hoping it's not my save being corrupted as it doesnt explicitly say what the problem is (i thought my previous game file was corrupted due to both sdv expanded and ridgeside being big so i got to a point in ridgeside where I'd more or less seen everything and didn't mind deleting the mod and the supporring mods). I'll try play a few more days when i next play and see if it appears again, this current save is only on spring y2.
It's not corrupted. Corruption would be "Root Element is missing"

So I'm having a very weird issue with the new Trinkets mod and More New Fish. It seems that whenever I have Trinkets installed, the fish sprites in MNF seem to become invisible. Does anyone know why something like that would be happening? My own smapi doesn't have any errors when going into the area, I'll have to see if everyone else does when we play together again.

There are some instances where you will need to use the compatibility version of the game. Please be aware that SMAPI/game mods are not compatible with this version.
On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
On GOG: From the game's page, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... > then "compatibility" under the Beta channels dropdown.
Especially given it means modding won't work with their stuff
I'd say hold off until one of our SMAPI knowledge people tells ya "yep, you're screwed"

Hello, i just joined from the SMAPI link to the wiki page, since my game keeps crashing for reasons when i leave the farm itself. I crashed 3 times, 2 times from going to the bus area, 1 time for going into the general store. I am using Stardew Valley Expanded, and all of its required mods, in multiplayer. I was told by SMAPI to provide the following link. Could i ask for some help, please?

Hey, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I downloaded SVE and didn't really like it. Does anyone know how to uninstall it? I'm on PC, Windows 11, playing from Steam
Assuming you have Error Handler, all you do is delete SVE from your mod folder
Then when you run the game and load your file, Error Handler will take care of removing all the stuff in the modded maps, characters included

Yeah only yellow text is about the save serializer (SpaceCore, don't worry about it) and deprecated code warnings (Custom NPC Exclusions and "SVE" - SVE in airquotes because 2.0 is being developed atm so only the current version will break on next SMAPI)
