Ah it's for controller. Like when you are in a mod menu, sometimes pressing a button will trigger a mod to be active (for example zooming in). But with the mod, zoom in won't be triggered

Okay, I am still having major problems getting SVE to work. I deleted everything and reinstalled following the steps on what to download and where to save it, and I think I did it right. When I try to play it using Steam the mod files apparently aren't there, and if I try to play it through ModDrop it tells me files are missing. If I update the files with the newest versions, it changes them to older versions and I run into my original problem of the game freezing when I try to access the Comic Con event. what am I doing wrong?

Has anyone updated their Mac to Ventura 13.1 and had issues arise? I updated yesterday and have not been able to play modded stardew since. It started with just xbox controller not working and now Smapi is giving me issues to the point that the game crashes immediately. I've been trying to fix it for two days now but I'm wondering if it's just something wrong with Ventura?

I played it first though ModDrop because I thought I was supposed to, when I try it through steam to mods don't show up. So I am guessing I saved them to the wrong place?

!launchoption you might not set the launch option to run smapi so if you launch the game through steam, it will launch vanilla game instead

In my mod list it shows the errorhandler? I have re-installed SMAPI twice now
No, it doesn't in the log you shared
SMAPI crashes before it loads the mods so it doesn't show any as loaded
or the log was created before that
In my screenshot it shows the ErrorHandler folder, I can re-run the log for you if that helps? But every time I launch through steam, the SMAPI widow opens, then says "loading game" and then crashes

Reset Terrain Features (https://smapi.io/mods/#Reset_Terrain_Features) is a mod that lets you reset, clear, or generate everything that spawns on a map using an in-game menu. That's especially useful when changing maps mid-save, as the debris will otherwise use the old layout (causing things like trees in the water or bushes blocking exits).

hm im not entirely sure how the moddrop manager handles things, but id recommend that you reinstall manually
we don't really support mod managers since they can cause issues

Gotcha. ModDrop is fine.. sometimes it will randomly fail to download a mod and you have to click dl a bunch before it finally cooperates. It has a few mods not avail on Nexus bc the authors moved them ('21 controversy). Otherwise, Nexus is the best bet imo. Most mods are there or sometimes github

I thought the mods in one's Mods folder will all show up in Smapi log and when they fail to load bc missing dependencies or whatever it'll give the error messages (am I crazy?)

So i have had issues getting my Xbox Series 2 Elite Controller to work, after following some instructions from this forum i replaced the libSDL2-2.0.0.dylib file with one i found. This makes the controller work but now i get no sound. I get the following error:

It's in AppData> Roaming> Stardew Valley > mods. I don't use a mod manager, just manual installs

I'm trying to get golden walnuts from farming on ginger island, but it won't let me harvest parsnips without a scythe somehow. On the wiki, it says that you can only get golden walnuts through crops that don't require a scythe, so it won't give me any. Does anybody know a way to fix this glitch? (I normally play modded but I checked on vanilla and it still says I require a scythe) I asked yesterday and someone said it's because the crop data changed, so I reinstalled the game and tried to change the file but to no avail. Does anybody know a fix?

worst case scenario, rerun the smapi install and recopy the green text it gives you and paste it over what is in your existing launch options

Yes you need to if you wanna play modded and use vortex. Tbf i'd recommend stardrop mod manager instead

Hello, I’m new to modding, I just have one question about where to put certain files.
I’m downloading the NPC Map location because I feel it would be useful for me, I have the actual mod but I have 2 additional Mods(?) I need to download which is fine but I want to know for sure where to put them since they both have [CP] at the end. I’m not sure what it means but I’m assuming it’s has something to do with either custom pack or content whatever
Where would I put those files? would I put it in the Mod folder or the Content folder?
Or would I have to make a new folder
If a mod have [CP] in their name, means they need Content Patcher mod to work. And you put them in Mods folder too
Most mod desc tell you how to instal the mod anyway
(the "CP" prefix isn't needed at all btw, it's just so you - the user - knows that it's a CP mod)

I found a problem, I recently downloaded SMAPI for a friend on his PC, for some reason, I cannot find the mod folder, it’s strange as when I downloaded SMAPI it was there, I’m not sure if it is to do with the update or not, that’s the problem. As I downloaded it before the recent update.
By download, you mean install? Mods folder should be inside the game folder if you install smapi correctly

I haven't played in a while and started a new save (still have my old one) and the problem is that I won;t get seeds after chopping trees down..if I dig them out of the ground, they get destroyed. I checked with my old save and it doesn't do that... is it a new feature with no tree seeds when starting new or is it a bug?

Hi, I recently updated my modded game and it isn't even loading. I have tried multiple avenues of troubleshooting: reloading old versions of mods that I updated, going backwards in Smapi to where it was working, reloading old save backups, trying a brand new save, verifying files, restarting computer, etc and I continually get stuck on one line in the code:
03:12:00 INFO Json Assets Building map to resolve normal objects. and then it does the circle of death and doesn't load. Does the exact same with new game file.

if you check TRACE, you'll see that JA actually finishes that pretty quickly. What's actually taking a long time is map loading

if the program is crashing to desktop (and not just...say, lagging forever), the only real way to debug that is to comb through event viewer, unfortunately

Thank you, Its my first time modding (this is first save but i'm heavily into the save), if i have a save with a lot of mods and I remove one, will that create an error in the save? It never used to freeze on this line of code. If anything, it was UI Info Suite2 that would take forever to load and then after a while, it would load up and in.
Also, if its an issue, would it be happening in a brand new save or does that indicate that it's an issue with one of the mods?
How does one comb through the event viewer and what specifically am I looking for?
I would copy the mods folder elsewhere and test on a new save
also, event viewer is a windows program that logs issues with programs
So remove the mods folder completely (like temporarily put on desktop) and see if I can start a vanilla save? Then slowly add the mods in?

It is just strange because it was running - it would take like a minute or so to load, but that was normal. Smapi wanted an update and a few others did too and then it janked.

The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Does anybody know how to get the farmer portrait mod to work? I'm trying to use a custom portrait I made through picrew I downloaded, and the directions on both this mod and the custom content mod I'm supposed to go through doesn't make a lick of sense to me

Yes! I found that work around too but I feel like it's unstable if that makes sense. Sometimes it works just fine and other times it immediately does the process similar to what Smapi does when I end the game, but the game never opened.

@tired brook Another user with the MacOS Ventura bash script error. I think the actual error text is a bit of a red herring, since empirically these users actually can use the open command from terminal. I'm fairly sure it's some kind of batch script permissions issue, but not sure exactly what kind. The reddit thread above has some janky workarounds, but it's probably not a sustainable solution long-term. CraftyBones88#5144 is willing to help try any tests you might have in mind to debug/diagnose/fix.
Like I said- I know next to nothing about terminal but as i've been trying to trouble shoot i've seen "bash" and "zsh" mentioned for the shell. And this is up when I launch terminal.

Hi, so I made a small modpack for me n my bf to play on and everything seems to be working but we cannot access the blacksmith or gunther to donate items, like we click on both of them and it doesnt open the interface, can I get some help? I can link the pack I made it on ModDrop

he keeps trying to walk there but well. he may be able to walk on water, but not through minecarts it seems!

Soooo i wanted to play Stardew with a friend of mine, (i have mods and they don't) each time i press the co-op button on the menu it tells me that "You need to be logged in to play multiplayer", i press "Ok" but it just kicks me back into the main menu
How can i fix this?
Well, first of all, unless it's aesthetic mods, you both definitely need the same mods
it's just visual mods (atleast to my knowledge. im still new to this)

All I actually changed was that the actually API file i renamed to Stardew Valley before making a copy to use as a shortcut. So when you install SMAPI, the Gamepass instructions ask that you create a copy of SMAPI and rename it to Stardew Valley
What I think this person did was delete the copy, and rename the actual SMAPI to Stardew Valley

Hey could someone help me out please. I accidentally deleted my save and I use swampi with like 60 mods. I did everything this website told me to https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#:~:text=If the files are missing,save folder back into Saves . But the file wouldn’t show up when I opened Stardew Valley. Does anyone know how to restore my file? It would mean the world to me😊
The game saves progress when the in-game day ends, i.e., when the farmer goes to bed, collapses from exhaustion, or collapses at 2am. All progress during a day is lost if the player quits the game without ending the day. In multiplayer, the game saves after all players click through the prompts at end of day and wake up in the morning.

no, you don't need to open your content folder
you have to put the xnb from the mod you want in one of the folders
So for example an hairstyle xnb, in the xnbxli file I copy that xnb and paste it in unpacked or packed? Or in one of the content folders?
Also when I try to run the exe for xnbcli, it closes afterwards

I have SailorStyles, and Artimis always showed up outside Hat Mouse’s house. Idk if it was me unlocking Hat Mouse or if it was me downloading Adopt n Skin, but Artimis the cat never shows up at Hat Mouse House anymore
Additionally, I have the NPC map mod, but the default NPCs aren’t showing up on it, only the Ridgeside Villagers are showing up on their own minimap. Idk how that happened or how to fix that though

So would the hairstyle xnb, all xnbs surrounding hairstyles would already have a conversion on it and I wouldn’t need to convert them?
