@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.
Change the -1 to any number you like...

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.
I think it's part of GMCM mod. There will be keyboard icpn if you open the mod setting

It is me again! Is there a way to somehow raise the limit of hairstyles the content patcher can load in? Because I found so many I would love to use and experiment with for my new characters, but the CP just allows a limited amount. π
No, SMAPI gives me a message that it can't load in all my hairstyle mods and skips them because they are not compatible. I can't figure how they should not be compatible other then having the same number in the character creation menu.
Now I just have two in to check which one is causing this, but originally the message pointed out almost every single hairstyle mod I have.

im using miss coriels NPC creator for my mod and i made sure that my npc has gift tastes but when i load the mod it says 'bad gift taste data' Does anyone know why its saying this? I'm confused
Short version here is disable one of those mods and it should work.

does anyone elses game stop responding when you either load a game or create a new game, usually it does eventually load itself (takes ages) but today it just stayed in not responding so i closed it (so not a crash)

If the music is still on while loading a save file, probably just wait. The bigger your mod counts, the longer it will take to load a save, especially with mods that need pytk

Yep. That one is known to not let you create a game if you add certain other mods
...though it says that on the description page so not sure how that happened

I have a question about IIFIS(If it fits I sits). Is there a way to make it only use the LMB to sit and not the RMB? It tends to interfere with placing the crab pots with the RMB especially on the river.

i suppose the npc creator makes a json file that has the gift tastes? i guess it's easiest to check how it looks first. if it looks fine then you'll probably need to use patch export to verify that the gift tastes are fine in the game https://github.com/Pathoschild/StardewMods/blob/develop/ContentPatcher/docs/author-guide/troubleshooting.md#export. it's more #making-mods-general territory though
Is there a way to quickly switch between heavily modded sv and vanilla?
I play without mods with my friend, but I'd like to play with mods on my own and last time somewhere down the road I fucked over my oldest save (no idea if it was a mod, or some other issue, or starting SV with and without smapi sometimes).
I know I can have many mods and play with vanilla players, but I wanted to check out sv extended and similar stuff.
Try using stardrop mod manager. You can set a profile to disable all mod
you can just open sdv without smapi

It seems MS changed it so that games are no longer installed to ModifiableWindowsApps, but instead to a new folder, C:XboxGames, maybe this is what is confusing the installer?
No, that's not it, this is a known issue with the code that detects the steam location sometimes failing
3.16.X would be the last version before that, and the instructions in the readme bypass the installer

That's likely because CF has basically been broken for that long, so I doubt there's a fix or workaround for it.

hello everyone! i am not sure if this is still the place to post this but i have a problem with running my modded game.
i have played sv modded for a long time before stopping alltogether for a couple of years so i am a bit out of the loop with what's new. i have downloaded/updated mods and tried to run the game but it freezes every time i try to load a save and tells me smapi is not responding. i was worried it might be my ram usage but i have 16gigs of ram and have been monitoring whether it spikes when i run stardew - it doesn't go above 70%.
smapi is telling me something is wrong in red whenever the game freezes but i am not sure what it is. would anyone perhaps be willing to look at my log and see what might be causing this?

Try not alt-tabbing nor clicking the game
Stardew has a bad habit of freezing-for-good-if-you-do-anything while loading
It freezes for good the moment you click; it might not if you donβt

it worked! it seems that smapi issues are unrelated to the long loading time. it seems that there is some kind of problem with farmer to florist though, as most of my flowers are missing haha!

All fishes show up on the mnf solo save.
on my normal save only some fishes like the ladyfish showed up, other like the mimic octopus didn't.
The invisible fish only have the lil shadow visible

Idk what mod specifically would be doing it, but it'd be recoloring the walls / lights used in the mines, hence the conflict
as for the lights, do you have any mods that change sk- it could be tied to the elevator mod?

I don't think I have anything that affects the skull cavern other than the elevator. It also happened midway through this playthrough, long after I'd gotten to skull cavern for the first time. Blaahhh, gonna be a lot of trial and error I suppose

This is blatant misinformation for Stardew
wiki specifically states that at least with launch options method you can earn achievements.

Bug report with ES that i would like some input on please: Hello! Doing some testing of East Scarp Beta (Playing Splitscreen Co-op), and I may have run into a bug. Twice now the game has crashed when roaming around ES talking with people. Core seems to be something about a given key not being present in the dictionary - 'Component: ES-buildings' or 'Component: outdoors' or 'Component: town'.

Okay, I tested it and can confirm that mods DO NOT disable Xbox achievements on the Windows version of the game. So if anyone else is playing Stardew Valley through Game Pass and wants both mods and achievements, you're in luck

if both mods target the same asset, just make one not do it so that they both arenβt trying to patch

Yep, the clause matches what it says it should and I removed the tmx file

hi everyone! i'm trying to get yellog's wood buildings to work for me as part of the yellog overhaul project i'm downloading. i went to the link (https://yellog.postype.com/post/11565362) and chose the download without grass. when i open the zip it has the assets, manifest, and content inside, but no premade folder. i made a folder, put it in my mods folder, and the buildings do not show up? also dusty isn't visible anymore. beforehand i could see him laying inside of his dog house.
I don't appear to have a Mods file under the Content folder, only in it's own folder

The advent calendar mod is causing this issue. I just uninstalled it and everything works fine. I assume it has to do with the fact that when you unpack the mod there is no extra folder where the files are. The mods data extracts directly.

some mods don't properly handle non-standard UI scale so you can try tweaking this to see if it fixes the quest text

Alright I'm still having issues with this. My game is crashing when ending the day, sometimes when calculating the shipping profit and sometimes when saving. Originally thought I'd fixed it since I got through a save to the next day, but it crashed again the next night and I'm not sure what else to try.

When I go in the Secret Forest I am getting 3 red errors repeating over and over while I am in there, walking or fishing. 2 of them seem to be from Visible Fish and Fishing Overlays though I'm not sure why they are doing it there and only there. looks like your error is coming from the 'Custom Fixed Dialogue' mod. you can try disabling the mod by renaming the mod folder to start with a period (.)

That's not the problem considering none of them are giving errors and I was having problems with this before Better Beehouses. Plus Farmer to Florist always claims it needs to update, I've reinstalled it over and over.

The mod author of farmer to florist might forgot to change mod version in manifest.json if you've tried to update it couple times and still ask the same version

My best guess for the actual problem is something with Entoarox since that's the thing throwing errors about a null exception in the game saving bit, but I don't know much what that means or how to fix it, and I originaly thought it was fine since the game got past in the first time
And it's a prereq so I can't just remove it.

As far as I can tell, that error is just about fishing zones and hasn't actually been effecting much except what exactly I can fish on Everfarm, which isn't an issue and unlikely to be causing the crash.
I didn't realize 2 of us were having fishing errors at the same time, albit from different causes.
(that file probably doesn't exist ever at that path - it's more a virtual path i guess created by the mod)

just check the mod page (Entoarox Mod Utilities) on bug section. People have the exact same problem with you so try to disable both Entoarox Mod Utilities and Extended Minecart

I mean looking at the event triggers: 59021012/C/f Linus 1500/f Shane 1500/w sunny/t 2100 2200 that is what they say it is, but it still triggered for me once Joja was gone. I never befriend Shane before I finish the CC so I was kind of grateful to be able to see the event anyway, but according to the triggers it definitely shouldn't

@thick lantern ^ that's what it is. I'm p sure the wiki is wrong. the C stands for community center complete. That's why it's not triggering. I tried to confirm with Event Lookup but unfortunately it has no info on what the C stands for as a key/trigger. But the evidence is in the base game. The only time it's used is to trigger Willy's back room letter

Yeah sure! My guess is that theyβre going to need to remove that key and do a when condition instead, as I donβt think thereβs an event key that means what they need it to mean. They'll figure something out I'm sure! β€οΈ

I'm thinking there is something wrong with the game itself. This is the second time this exact same error has occurred on hubby's game, and it always starts with a game error. Is it time to uninstall and reinstall SV?

does anyone know what causes my game to shutdown during screen transitions? it always ends with this in my log: Requested cache invalidation for all assets matching a predicate.

so I'm trying to use Magical Family with the Flower Valley recolor, but I'm running into an issue with the tower having an extension that isn't being recolored. Where in the file structure of the two mods would I either find the wizard tower (flower valley) or find the extension so I can recolor it (Magical Family)?

Hi, I know it's been a long time since you pinged me about this issue, but I wanted to give you an updateβI believe it is either fixed or will be fixed when the newest PRs are merged into DGA (when DGA next updates). I just tested both mods in a test save, and they're working for me with my updated version of DGA, so if it's still not working for you on a test save by itself, try again after DGA updates.

I need help with something. Everytime i purchase/upgrade a building i get teleported to my farm and get stuck in the trees. (I have the forest farm) I do have some mods but i dont think any of them would cause this

Yes. One tab that is black screen console thingy is SMAPI then the game will load after that

I don't think you can load a game that has mods which adds content stuff like SVE, Ridgeside, etc. if they are disabled/uninstalled
Maybe because when starting a new day, the contents that added by those mods is missing so SMAPI throws errors

it has two types, CP and xnb, I chose CP.
In one portion it says "I have designated a swimsuit (shirt pajamas) for my body type, so please remove the swimsuit when merging bottoms."
Poor translation, I know, but does this mean I need to remove any files or will the CP file auto change the in game bottoms?

i think what they're referring to is the clothes? i'm not 100% though. I don't think you'll have to remove any files though
so iirc, in the game there's actually 2 sets of swimsuits... one that's part of the farmer body sprites and one that's part of any pants/bottoms sprites. (I have a similar issue when using GH's peach body... even though she has her own designated swimsuit, sometimes another vanilla swimsuit overlays on top). I think this has to do with them also being part of pants spritesheets. So I think this mod author is saying to remove the swimsuit sprites from any bottoms to avoid this conflict. I've never tried this myself so I can't confirm if it works? but I believe that's what the translation is saying.

there used to be a mod that changed the title screen music but it was removed I think
so the error is occurring in DayUpdate, which is patched by multiple mods. it could be any one of these: DaLion.ImmersiveProfessions, DaLion.ImmersiveTweaks, Digus.ProducerFrameworkMod, FlashShifter.SVECode, Paritee.BetterFarmAnimalVariety, PeacefulEnd.AlternativeTextures Have you recently added any of these mods?

indieβs female farmer overhaul, you just have to edit the content.json to say EditImage instead of Load and itll work

Anyone run across a bug that locks the game after coming home from the desert on the bus? I can't see my character, my inventory or any of the HUD. The odd thing is that there is no SMAPI errors or anything. I can't even use the warp function on CJB.
And I tried to warp using console commands and SMAPI appeared to take the command but nothing changed
Yes, it's most likely an issue with Bus Locations. One sec and I'll find you the right console command

Guys, I'm messing around with warps.json that used on cjb cheat menu for RSV+SVE+GF. I add a code for adding regular farm warp as in regular CJB cheat menu warp.json. I picked random place to warp from a farm like marnie's ranch and get back to farm with that code, works fine. When I try warping to adventure's guild, gameloop error occur. For the reference, I disabled any expanding mods like SVE, RSV, and ES. Should i just use the original file of warps.json file for this save file?

I believe SVE changes the location of some things, so if you're using the old warps, you'll get those errors
