Oh yeah, you could just have multiple mods installed that are all patching the same item

Hello everyone, again. I'm trying to solve this problem with Adopt n skins multiplayer version, it doesn't start. apparently it is outdated for the new smapi or it is for stardew valley 1.5.4 (I think that's it from what I saw in the log, I don't have the knowledge to say it is for sure). Does anyone know any way to resolve this? I tried to name my skins but this is not the problem, it always crashes when reading the first skin, regardless of which animal it is. Any help or advice is most welcome.

Hey so I have the mod called Animal Husbandary aka Butcher mod, and with the mod comes a Feeding Basket that you get from Marnie in the mail once you have a certain friendship with her, now after I got the basket, I decided to see if I can trash it, huge mistake. I then thought I could get it back by sleeping and receiving it in the mail the next day, didn't work. I installed CJB ItemSpawner to get it, the item isn't there. Please, if you can help.
If you just want more skins for animals, recommend you use Alternative Textures
That's not what the animal husbandary mod is

I don't actually know the first thing about your problem and would have to dive into the Animal Husbandary code
does alternate textures work the same as AnS for changing animal textures? this is the only resource I use, I don't use AnS horses and pets.
recommend looking at the A&T mod page for details, but it will allow you to have multiple skins for the same animals

For SMAPI, is there a console command that simply looks up information about a given item or item ID that prints out similar data that the "Lookup Anything" mod does? I ask because sometimes I want to look up an item, but I don't have the ability to mouse-over it and press F1. So I'd like a command to be able to look up an item or NPC and print that information to the console

okayy so what happened was:
I woke up on GI Island, I stepped outside, could not open my bags through pressing B (esc worked). Shipping bin had the same issue.
TPing to farm made it work again, so I assumed it was solved. However, when TPing back to island farm it once again did not work. It worked when I walked in Gourmand's cave, or to the beach resort area, but when I moved back to the farm it did not work again.
I went into island farm house, it worked there, and then when I moved into the farm it finally worked.
It's... super weird
How many mods would be considered to much? I dont want to use so much my computer crashes
That fully depends on your computer specs. Some people here have 1000 mods and their computers don't crash
Just go on a mod shopping spree so to speak, make sure to get SpriteMaster so load times are down, and you're good

Essentially - you two should have the exact same mods for most things. I think dialogue and portrait/sprite edits are fine to be different
There's a couple other things listed in that table that will be fine for either as well. But in most cases, you need the exact same mods
hey so i'm using dynamic reflections but on my main save the water puddles seem to be invisible i can see when the raindrops fall onto the puddle (see picture) and when i walk over them i can hear the sound. when i created a new farm (hilltop farm) i could see the water puddles so idk what im doing wrong i didnt even touch the settings once

well there is an issue with pytk because i am using lux's food mod tmxl is showing error messages i think and the other ones i already updated but still telling me i didnt
that has to do with the authors forgetting to update the numbers i think

i try downloading the old BFAV version and then let the unofficial update overwrite that one (since that was a solution on the forum) but nothing, it's still the same

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.

Stardew Valley screen is dark/won't work after loading save file. (Steamdeck, modded)
I installed "Ridgeside Village" and the prerequisites and now the game doesn't work. It takes a long time to load to the start screen and then it takes a very long time to "load" the actual save. Once it loads, the screen is dark (not black) and unresponsive to input. I can see my character in bed, but I can't do anything and it seems frozen at this point.
I have gone through the smapi logs and have been troubleshooting/fixing mods to the point where there are no longer any apparent errors in the log.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Here is the log.

PyTK likely isn't helping your load times either
Just load up the save and then don't touch it for a bit. It should load after a bit

Or, well - it's likely making it take longer to load. It's a general rule with PYTK's compatibility mode that SMAPI forces
Gotcha. Thank you a lot. I will see if the game eventually loads in. Could just be a lot to parse with 31 mods including SVE, Ridgeside Village and PyTK doing its thing.

And check which mods of yours need PYTK/TMXL (which requires PYTK)
It seems to be working! I think I waited 20 minutes last night and nothing happened. Then I did a lot of troubleshooting myself: IE: parsing the smapi logs and addressing errors until there were none left.
When I tested now, it loaded in about 5 minutes
So, I think today I was just not giving it time. I'd wait a minute or two and assume it was still broken
Likely related to the fact it's a Steam Deck and thus doesn't have that PC power to make it load faster
Deck has a perfectly good processor, although dunno how much it limits that for battery/heat reasons
I do agree. I will see if that helps; it may have been more like 3 or 4 minutes? But still a while.
The important thing is my wife is happy.

I've never targeted Android, and while I could fundamentally make it work probably, I'd rather wait until someday Android gets a 64-bit build...

Trace indicates you have Starblue Valley but it's not showing up on the modlist

does it happen consistently when you add the mod and not happen when you remove the mod? you have several other mods affecting gift tastes so those could affect it too (also the Json Assets message doesn't necessarily mean that the gift tastes don't work, although it probably means that they are formatted in an uncommon way at least)
Yes, consistently with the mod every day but not when the mod is removed. If the warnings are just formatting alerts then I will gladly ignore them lol but I wanted to check in with more knowledgeable people just in case I've done something foolish with my large mod collection

i guess you can try patch exporting Data/NPCGiftTastes (by typing patch export "Data/NPCGiftTastes" into the smapi console after loading a save) and uploading the resulting file to smapi.io/json and link it here to see how bad it is

Errors are present when formatted in manifest and CP mode.
The mod does work so I'm not experiencing any crashes or anything. I've just been debugging some other mods and keep seeing those errors pop up in yellow in SMAPI.

json assets also modifies gift tastes, and i guess it is possible for a JA content pack to break the gift tastes with it too
i would try removing [CP] Everyone Likes Fruit and Universally Loved Diamonds first, just for troubleshooting
I do have a JA food pack that has weird formatting. It's the Elfin Tea one. Then there are all the PPJA packs. I forgot that adding new recipes and crops to the game = new things to like and dislike.

What are the mods of these, these are what I only need and I can play ridgeside

For that one you need the updated file. They list an older test file which has been disabled by the mod author.

I THINK I FUCKING SOLVED THIS DUMB THING!
The source of the issue was the Vibrant Pastoral SVE, where the config was, for some reason, set as 'grandpa_noFence' instead of 'grandpa_Fence' (my farm is using SVE's Grandpa's Farm)
Since it was using the wrong config, I guess the game was trying to load 2 kinds of mods at once which lagged the game and created the weird lighting flicker/glitch
Game is finally back to normal and smooth as butter

Not sure. Sounds like a weird bug since grandpa foraging sounds like it's a SVE related mod? Maybe check if there's anything in the mod description about needing to tweak the configs for compatibility?

i'm having an issue where the growth tile of one of my PPJA More Trees is... very orange. but i checked the assets (original and a retexture i'm using) and those are fine? is anyone familiar with this issue?

I am having trouble playing multiplayer modded stardew. Whenever we try to join eachothers farms it gives the error message 'No available cabins'. We've tried setting the cabins to 3 but it doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone have an idea how this could be fixed?
Other than that I would ask somebody else who uses it but it might be modifiable in the new version

wistful pink sand
seasonal custom buildings
flowery pink house
rosy cottage farmhouse
eemie's medieval modern buildings
Eemie's and Rosy Cottage are Alternative Texture packs so you need to buy the paint bucket from Robin and apply what textures you want by interacting with the buildings you want to change. Flowery Pink House and Seasonal Custom Buildings however both seem to be Content Patcher packs. And they both are trying to modify the same things, so what's happening is neither is being loaded.

No errors that I can see but I do see you have Vibrant Pastoral installed as well, which does a full recolor of just about every terrain feature, including the sand. So it's likely another case of them both trying to modify the same things and only one winning out 🙂

I'm using mod drop/smapi through steam. It will not use controllers properly with smapi, it uses the ps4 touch pad as mouse. Vanilla stardew let me use 2 controllers for split screen

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. Im using sve with multiplayer and we did grandpas farm and whenever I leave my house im back on the standered farm and cant get off my front porch

Anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. In multiplayer, you need to have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends.
Anytime you have a shuffle and then solve it, old objects may remain affected but new ones should be fine. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.
Always remove JA fish from fish ponds before trying to change JA mods

A lot of npc's rely on day saves/ends, save anywhere messes with time and day ends. (it can cause schedule issues and things like animals never returning back into their homes)

Only replacement is converting the portrait mods to HD Portraits yourself (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10971) but really you can just ignore that warning, it's just a sign of what's to come

what portrait mods are you using that would require pytk but aren't hd? You could convert them to content patcher

Specifically, does organizing mods into subfolders off the main mod folder make SMAPI take longer to load stuff, and thus make SDV take longer to boot?

Hello! I'm trying to figure out how to install mods. I have Stardew Valley on Windows via Xbox game pass. I downloaded SMAPI but I can't find the Stardew mods folder or how to like back up my previous vanilla games since I have a few I'd like to keep. And I'd like to have the option to play vanilla or play modded since I am rather attached to some of my playthroughs but I don't know how to do the rename that the wiki talks about. I also have question about if like I can disable mods to play vanilla or disable a few mods on different saves. I'm very lost.

Smapi always installs the default mods into the Mods directory
You'll need to go into that directory and copy it over to the one you actually use

Did you mean to ask if I added any mods expanding the game since I started playing in this file? Yes. But mostly CP files.
Most recently added Reimagine 3, but this was happening before that was added.

Can anyone recommend a walk through (ideally video) on how to install smapi on linux (pop os)? I've read the wiki and there are a couple videos on youtube but the videos seem to skip steps something about mono which isn't even mentioned on the wiki. I'm just afraid of messing up my current save if I don't properly get it set up

Wiki instructions should work, although I dunno how Pop versions map to Ubuntu versions
I think when I tried it last night I was just being dumb still thinking like windows. I had double clicked the launch for linux smapi which opened to a word document instead of konsole. I got it all figured out and running smoothly with mods now lol

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

anyone have any idea what might be causing non-vanilla spouses to appear invisible when appearing in later weddings with free love and wedding tweaks? vanilla spouses appear fine but non-vanilla spouses are invisible (they do still "appear" though, as the position of vanilla spouses does change depending on the amount of non-vanilla spouses)

Steamdeck is basically impossible for us to troubleshoot directly but some linux things should be obvious to us what's wrong

Pathos would probs want both host and farmhand log
It'd be hard to look into since there's so many factors in the log (particularly mods like PyTK and TMXL Toolkit). I could look into a fix for 1.6 if needed, but ideally I'd need a minimal repro pack without those to look into it.
Well the video I was watching said to just follow the directions on the terminal but nothing works just keeps saying "that directory doesn't seem to exist"
