AFren, you can download through a mod manager if you'd like, otherwise manual is the best to mostly avoid installation issues
since you just extract it into the mod folder

I realize that might be unspecific, but - what exactly are you trying to do with a "png mod". I know png file format is pictures, but that's not really a mod, PNG files don't go in as a mod. If you're asking how to put PNGs into Stardew, I think you have to make a content pack, and if you're going for an XNB mod, that's inadvisable without converting it to content patcher

like the game launches, appears on my taskbar, plays music. but if I click on it, the game won't open up or maximize.
I have also clicked "maximize"
(Agent Lyoko, sometimes the game tries to launch in an invalid location. You can tell because in TRACE it will say something like "window resized:" and then give coordinates that don't make sense)

If the mods aren't working SMAPI will tell us why. If SMAPI launches normally, the mods weren't placed in the right folder

Give a screenshot of your mods folder if you can.
Based on how AFren is wording it they unzipped the files, but they put the zip files in mods, then unzipped the folders and never deleted the zip files within

Yep there's some zip files in there, that's problem #1. Problem #2: It looks like just based on that there are no dependencies for SVE in there, which they installed
So SVE will not run with just the main file, it needs its requirements too
Better, but you're still missing all SVE dependencies for that to work
When you downloaded SVE on Nexus - I assume it was on Nexus - it gave you a list of mods that are required for SVE to work
First, make sure you're going here https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3753
Second, click the "requirements" tab near the top
Except for SMAPI and Content Patcher - which you obviously already have - download every single mod contained within it.
Json Assets, Farm Type Manager, Custom NPC Exclusions, etc.

i.e. hit cog in steam, click "browse local files"

Personally I can't help you there, because I have SMAPI as a non-steam game

Since it ran once, you should now have an errorlogs folder with which to post a log, just in case something errored out in install

I currently added naver retexture xnb files of Marlon, Sandy, and Magnus into CP but the sprites aren’t changing because of SVE…is there a way i can override the SVE version?

It's because your arms are layering on top of the sleeves
it's probably a weird mod incompatibility with something your wearing or the farmer base
i experienced the same thing earlier, bc i had 2 mods that gives my character oversized (?) sleeves

Hiya - I'm having a SteamDeck SMAPI issue, wondering if anyone else has had the same. I got the Linux version of SMAPI running and copied my mods folder over from my desktop pc. Now when I run SMAPI it gives me an error that it can't find the manifest for a bunch of mods (also my game crashes when I try to load the save). I found one report possibly similar that the issue could be from SMAPI not reading into mod subfolders and the solution being to un-subfolder every mod.
I'm guessing I broke something or does Wizard (SVE) actually just stay in bed the whole weekend after marriage?

And Holy - where are you launching it from? Installing SMAPI doesn't mean that clicking play on Steam will open SMAPI automatically
i have a question. whats the difference btwn CP and AT? For example, Elles New Barn Animals etc have CP and AT versions but im unsure of what the differences are or if one should be preferred over the other

Well i updated smapi and the problem continued so i downgraded pytk and it works but unfortunately it took about 11 of my mods because custom furniture and Tmxl map toolkit works with the updated version.. is there a way to fix it?

The latest released version of PPJA (Project Populate Json Assets, a popular mod) is a conversion from JA to DGA, but it has some bugs in it, and the mod author has retired. Sticking with the older JA version is probably your best option.
You can download the JA version from the Old Files section on Nexus, or by downloading the latest versions of the standalone components instead of the megapack (except for Farmer to Florist, where you would need to look under Old Files in the standalone version).

So for the portraits you have you need to download PyTK for them to work.

BFAV stands for Better Farm Animal Variety, a mod by Paritee which lets you add new breeds of animals to live in coops and barns. Hello! I am having some trouble with a mod I used to use. I had to install a ton of mods fresh and after a great amount of trial and error, almost all of my mods are working as intended... with the exception of one, GH Peach Body.
It seems to affect my farmer's face and changes it independently of the rest of her, as her hands can be freely changed in the skintone slider but it doesn't change her face at all. It's almost like a "mask." In-game, I have the little panel where I can adjust the mod so clearly the game is recognizing it. SMAPI doesn't seem to pick up on any conflicts and I filled out the config file for the body type according to the instructions.
I have no other body installed, I removed all my sleeves mods that google searches indicated could conflict with it. I do have Fashion Sense, all of its associated parts pull in just fine. It is just Peach Body that's refusing to play nice.
If I could get some help, I would be greatly appreciative. ❤️
GH is a weirdo because it changes the colour of the farmer base when it doesn't need to. So it's really easy to have conflict with other body mods. I don't use it with FS though 😂 I only know from testing compatibility with it and my mods
so I don't know what exactly is causing your particular conflict
I do use it with FS and don't have problems on the previous version On the new version, I can't get the sleeves to work (even without fashion sense) and that seems to be a recurring theme for a lot of users. Haven't heard about any conflicts with the face though unfortunately 😦
I guess I will try axing FS and see what happens! And yeah, it does seem a bit strange lol. I don't recall having so much trouble with it before, but I've been out of the game for like a year!
I will try the old version before I yeet FS maybe. I'd like to keep the neat clothes but I also can't stand default farmer sprites 😭 Now that I've used peach body, I'm spoiled.

I've got an edited copy where I switched the base sprite colours to vanilla. You can still use skin tone mods with it so the actual base colour doesn't need to be modded. It did take a while because there's so many files though.
I think I imported them all into one image, indexed the colours, colour swapped, and then exported as layers.
but I haven't tested that with FS so I don't know if that'd actually fix your issue
I'd be willing to give it a go! I don't have any other mods that could be creating the conflict other than FS, so I am hoping using an older version of peach body might resolve it.

like probably the sleeves are a patch overlay, and in the content the arms are loading before the sleeves for some reason

hey everyone, i've stumbled upon some problem with dynamic game assets mods. it's working correctly, but the textures don't show in game (i'm using textures for gems and coins), they're switched to the base game textures
there is an error on smapi log, but it's related to tmxl?? i don't really understand what's the matter here
i've updated mods (some mods just have a stuck update key and shown as "need to be updated" all time) and tested on several new and old saves, but it's just not showing in game

So, an update (just in case someone else comes along and has issues with body types). I tried out Do Eun's and did the XNB and saw that it was wonky and weird still. Turns out it was a conflict with my "Seasonal Cute Charcters" mod. I removed it and that base shows up 100% fine! I am about to test things with Peach Body. Edit to Add: Peach body is working! 🙂 So seems like the seasonal characters mod is a conflict. I didn't realize it affected farmer sprites at all. I found the overlap by looking through my SMAPI log - so perhaps that is of use to anyone else who much be on the struggle bus as I was.

hey so i just downloaded smapi and when i went to boot the game it says "windows cannot find 'C:program'. make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again"

you should boot the game from the label that smapi creates, otherwise it will boot game without mods

The options state: "Your SMAPI API Filepath" %command%. How the computer is reading it without the quotations is C:\Program because space is meant to separate the file path from the launch options themselves
The quotations forces Steam to read the thing as the entire filepath

you can pick between vanilla and modded easily even if u have steam, just remove mods from mod folder

bc to be honest i've found that these furniture mods are quite problematic and can mess up your file if being installed/deleted, for this one i remember drawing the bed to the texture sheet myself

Hi folks, sorry for posting again, but I'm still not able to figure this out after a couple days. I'm having an intermittent crash in splitscreen multiplayer whenever one of us enters the farm and comes within view of the main farmhouse. It seems to have to do with "zzzzz_spouse_patio_spring_outdoorsTileSheet" and aedenthorn.ExtraMapLayers; the mods that are modifying the spouse patio seem to be SVE and Adventurer's Guild Expanded.
Is there anything I can do to work around this crash – hopefully without divorcing Rasmodius or uninstalling either of these mods (if that's even an option while retaining my save)? And, is there any way of getting to the bottom of which mod is causing the crash so that I can officially report it?

There appears to be a Content Patcher version (installed like any other SMAPI mod, plus requires Content Patcher of course), and an XNB version (heed the warnings above).
Re: Incompatibility with Season Character: Probable. They seem like they would try to patch the same things.
Nowadays, SMAPI-based mods are preferred over XNB mods.
Less likely to break when the game updates. Doesn't require resetting your game files to change things out.

Any Android player here? Is there a particular format for console commands with Android SMAPI? I haven't even been able to run help .... it tells me to run "help" for list of commands 
am I able to just put rar files right into my mod folder or do I need to do something else first
To be honest: to fix that someone would have to track down the JA code from two years ago, track down the game from two years ago and also all dependencies, hope the issue replicates on those versions, and also figure out how to compile for Android

i was trying to add portraits for alex, elliott, harvey, sam, sebastian and shane but somehow they didnt appear ingame (i added and replaced with the pngs from the naver portraits to the cute seasonal outfits mod) xnb files worked for me but sadly i dont think that these portraits also have a xnb version could someone help me out?
they need to extracted like other archive files (i think 7-zip works for them if you're on windows)

hm, i wonder if somehow you have two children with the same name? i took a quick look on the mod and it seems to be correct for those patches. like the mod uses sort of variables that contain the first child and second child names and they seem to be fine for those patches. could be a problem with the framework mod Child To NPC too i guess, it sometimes has problems

ive got smapi 3.16.2 and the most recent sdv (using steam) and i installed, unzipping with 7zip and copy pasted the proper files into my directory i made sure it installed in the right place where i have sdv and copy pasted the text into my sdv launch options. i even tried uninstall reinstall restarting my pc and checking the .net framework but its up to date too. any advice on how to fix this??

RESIZE THE PICTURE TO MAKE SURE THE WIDTH IS 512px, AND KEEP THE ASPECT RATIO SO THE HEIGHT IS AUTO-CONFIGURED. thats in the portrait template mod description but i just dont know why its not working

The one on your desktop is the pirated version. Consider running the game on the non-pirated version and posting a log.
try verifying file integrity on steam
(the Steam entry might be the pirated copy, added as a non-Steam game - if they were lying, that is)

if you can get raffadax and some end game wines, you can still reach lvl 81 for all stats
levels higher than 20 do nothing in the game anyway
The moment I saw you had a pirated version my motivation to help went away

Isn't that just the galdoran UI, something you can enable from the SVE config?
I don't know if there's a separate mod to use that UI though. I would ask the rest - Otherwise pretty sure it would require SVE

I wish I knew what that "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error actually meant. I see it a lot. But I see something about spawning monsters, so that might have something to do with it?

Basically, somewhere in the code, there's something that's "null" meaning nothing, nonexistence instead of being like "Leah" or "35" or literally anything concrete and in existence
It does looks like it's in the list of monster types
Often you can guess as to what might be null by going to the original C# code and taking guesses as to which things can be null
But sometimes it's really impossible to tell without literally rebuilding the mod yourself with more logging
In this case I suspect a type of monster previously in the save was remoced

i'm not sure if it was trying to trigger a cutscene but i hit the key to enter the door and it gave me a buffering screen until i gave up and closed out

those are safe, they're macos files that are invis on macs
