I decided to make the cheat farmer a mysterious farmer who is so very rich for no reason at all, and is mysteriously popular amongst the townspeople (again because of cheat) but the townspeople don’t know that she’s so…. Interesting

there are some features in ps that csp doesnt have

aseprite is the best pixel art app imo- but if you dont have $20 or want to spend some time compiling it, id recomend piskel or paint.net

time compiling it just means if you feel like following the tutorial, its not too bad

The best way is to copy from references of real portraits-even when you're going for a cartoonier style. It helps you understand head angles and use views that have more balance!

I would love to get some feedback on something

So I just picked up Aesprite about a week ago to learn pixel art and pursue making my own 2d game, and since I already have a background in both art and modding, I figured making pixel art mods would be a good way to learn. Since I've never really been a huge fan of Emily's look in the game personally, I decided to try to change her look up a bit.

I've done a few simple projects in Aesprite so far as a way of practicing because I've never done pixel art before, but I'm having a tough time figuring some things out. In particular I've been struggling with highlights and shading. I know there's many different styles, and I've watched many videos on creating pixel art lately, but I'm still feeling a bit unsatisfied with what I have so far. I feel like something is off, but I just can't put my finger on it lol

Anyways, I tried my best to stay true to the original style and keep her looking like herself, just with a bit of a new look. I feel like the hair looks off though. I like the overall style of it, but it just doesn't look right to me. If anyone has any feedback they'd like to give, I would greatly appreciate it.

She's so pretty! I'm not a portrait maker but I'll try and give useful crit 😅 She looks a little older/more mature because she has a slimmer, less rounded face. I think the hair at the sides is too shiny, the highlight on top looks okay but it shouldn't have so many extreme highlights on the sides. I also think that you could work a little more purple into some areas of the hair shadow, maybe thicken some lines to create more depth as at the moment there's only a flat base colour with highlights

She looks really good though and you've developed CA's style well without completely deviating from it

I might just be imagining the face thing though 🤨 can't tell

Hmm, no I definitely see what you mean about the face. Though it wasn't intentional, it does look a bit slimmer. I also added dimples cause I thought they looked cute, but I think they also kinda read as laugh lines and age her a bit. I did notice CA's style has thicker lines around the darker areas in her hair, but I couldn't get it to look right. I'll try again though, and I'll try to work in more purple tones as well.

A lil tip, when you start a painting it's easier to block in the basic tones/colours of the piece rather than jump straight into detail. That way you don't make as many mistakes when it comes to adding the important parts.

eg I work from: Underpainting, block tones, semi details/carving out shapes, finer details and highlights

everyone has a different process though ^-^

First pic is my new look for her, next to the vanilla portraits. I got her face back to the vanilla shape, but kept the dimples cause I thought they were cute c:

Hey, I need some help from anyone who learned how to draw ever, I've always had a cartoonish style and now I'm trying to move to more semi realistic, but I don't really how to know how to draw creativly from my mind yet with this style I drew the photo below using something I call visual tracing, basically I redraw a drawing I'm looking at. I don't consider any work I make using this method my art, none of it gets saved to any records and as far as I'm aware, it is essentially the same as stealing someone else's work. I'm just wondering how I can get to know this style better? Do I copy other works to learn the bits and pieces, and then rework them into my own art by mixing them up or do I do something else? Help me please

I’d recommend finding a semi realistic illustrator you like, or make a Pinterest board collecting works you like. You can create artist studies of their work and directly copy, or you can draw from an image reference whilst incorporating some of their techniques

It takes a while to develop your own style of drawing, but semi realistic is a bit easier in the sense that it reflects real life rather than someone else’s design choices

You’ve already done a great job studying the way viktor is drawn, it looks just like him

Work on developing your skills rather than creativity and you’ll pick things up along the way

Do experiments on different facial features, or body parts. Learn what style you enjoy drawing through practice and experience rather than stressing out when you’re only just beginning

yo?? dude, thats actually really good and honestly one of the only ways to really learn! theres always tutorials and what i find to b rlly helpful is find artists w the style youre looking for and maybe look at how they do it and get your own ideas out of it? honestly just tryy and error

okay so i've been debating with myself if i want to seek help but i'm at a lost on what I should do. Currently i'm making a pretty in depth comic about stardew valley and i want to give it more of an fantasy medieval vibe???. I'm trying to figure out clothing and what would be acceptable for each npc/main characters.

like shane here looks like a bartender and I might write it down that he was given clothes from gus cause his other set of clothing or what not kept getting ripped or somthing
