theres programs that do paint physics, but theyre really expensive
But tbh I like tubes better already they provide better intensity and are easier to use
No clue but it must be a glitch since it keeps breaking the folder ahh
I need some advice
I have decided that I want to start profiting from my art probably by selling it online after i get the things necessary together
Which would probably be very hard considering I really dislike social media
But you gotta do what you gotta do
Do you guys think I should focus on instagram (I don’t like, it’s starting to give off Facebook vibes too 😐) or tik tok (which I don’t like either and have no experience in but seems to be easier for gaining audience)
twitter is a hellscape though, be really careful what you post
oooh nice
I had no idea what I was doing. I was just randomly slapping paint around until it worked.
Ah I’m not concerned content wise the things I do aren’t related to anything controversial but thanks for the warning
twitter is like 2014 tumblr tbh, if you want more reach i suggest tumblr though
its calmed down a lot since the ban
Also tbh I don’t really like the idea of commissions and I don’t know how well I could make educational videos my vocab wack and brain empty sometimes
I just like creating whatever art I want and put it out there for whoever interested
ive gotten over 100 notes on one off posts, you can get pretty good reach if those posts are consistent
But I think that’s the longest way to profiting since it would take a while for enough people to find me and actually get interested in my personal art pieces
tumblr is good for that
Ooo
tumblr has the best tagging system out of all social media sites so its easy to tag things
Tumblr y not
tumblr also has funnier posts
and it doesnt show follower counts either which is really nice
thats only because of the nsfw ban back in 2018
tumblr has historically had the worst drama
I heard about that
I barely know anything about it only because it’s not popular where I live
theres also vk, but thats european and im in america
i think i get the most attention from art-specific groups on facebook, sometimes posts on instagram and sub-reddits.
i also sell via etsy but im not sure if any sales came from any sort of etsy searchings so far.
weirdly my etsy stats says 65% of my traffic to my shop is direct and "other", rather than from social media or etsy. only 18% is from etsy itself.
Tumblr can let you filter tags, which is really nice. I was more sites did that. (Even though things can still slip through the cracks.)
Tumblr's layout is too confusing for me.
im used to the layout, its supposed to be a blog site
(i'm very niche though being miniaturist art based)
all of the above
advertise everywhere
IG
Nooo tumblr app is banned in my country
I can use the website but it’s not as practical
trying out lineart cause my sketch is ugly
i normally just sketch then render
but thats not gonna work for this
may i suggest using a vector layer for lineart
it makes it so much easier
https://youtu.be/zWGOdNrd1gg @marble mantle
it's been a while huh
Clip Studio Paint is a digital art program built from the ground up for digital artists. It also has two features that are super nice: Vector layers and Reference layers, which I'll show you how to use.
You can get it for $50 at https://www.clipstudio.net/en, and it often goes on sale for less. (They didn't pay me to say ...
ah yeah ik
im not looking for super clean lineart hto
just cleaner than the sketch
i do 90% of my lineart with vector layers, the only flaw i would say is when you erase your lines and the ends of the lines gets 'autocorrected'
you can rasterize them
so yeah, now i do lineart on just normal layers
ik you can rasterize
but like
i just find them more annoying than anything
i can see how itll be useful if youre going for super clean crispy lineart
yeah i felt that
vector layer lineart would be useful for e.g. animation etc. though
i found that using the transparent version of the brush youre using for lineart is good for correcting the ends
good point ^
thats what i do
im a lineart person, i cannot live with messy edges
i like it more than using an eraser
im not big on clean lineart
nothing too clean for me
me too, i never not do lineart but lately ive been trying to make it the way i really want them to be
i like a little bit of grit
i found my stuff to be too clean
like this
this is by likelihood on insta
i mean
Nothing is wrong with super clean lines
ive seen people pull it off
just not my style
ooo yeah i like their art too
thats pretty clean
eh
the lineart is pretty gritty if you ask me
my lineart used to look like this, which is too clean imo
its in a painted style, the lines are also softer because theyre colored
ive seen ultra clean lineart, most artists who have "grit" have clean lines. clean lines dont mean smooth lines
at least the ones youre talking about
imo for your piece to look good you need clean lines anyway
the amount of texturing however you can vary
messy but like, clean
i dont know if im making sense
messy in a way that makes sense
i was just suggesting something but to each their own
this is from sam does art on insta
his stuff is messy
but its really well done cause he knows how to make messy look good
a lot of the artists i follow have messier styles
thats my goal
messy art with lots of energy
but still have it look hot
i follow sinix and borodante mostly
sinix is great
i follow a bunch of russian artists too
borodante has nice art
just doesnt paint stuff im particularly interested in
this is by senyalulz on tumblr
i like sinix alot too
these are by qutiesickening on tumblr
i love stylized pieces
hmm yeah, same here
strong shape language and vibrant colors make me :)
its nice to look at
at times
but i dont see myself drawing like that for my main art style
vibrant colours
i need to be in a certain mood to be able to appreciate bright colours askskksk but thats JUST ME
i lean more to desaturated tho
i like my art looking dead
most times when im doing art for comms i just
colour pick from the reference
thats fair, when i think desaturated i think tim burton
ayeeee
i love emilyena
she works a lot with saturated colors, but theyre limited to a few things
amazing.
the grammas video her art is a lot more vibrant
or grey with a lil pink tint
the veins... the subsurface scattering... mwah..
yeah, basically dead skin with areas where the skin is thinner so the blood shows through
theyre focal points though, the rest arent too bright
looking at her art makes me feel alive
^^
never seen steven universe but this makes me want to watch it
same
but im getting there
i even bought the full daub brushset
how does one use all those brushes
you dont
i havent even touched half of them yet
its over 500
and i have another 800 lying around

unrelated but peanut butter and jelly actually tastes really bad
im trying it for the first time rn
these are by artdunk on tumblr
those lines remind me of frenden
this is the type of painting style i like
ok ngl, i have tried to use all my juicy textured brushes in my art before but now-...
i just stick with my 6 best bois, for consistency
Oooh fascinating, i like the first one!
they only use the csp default oil brushes
i have a set of brushes that i use for everything
but every now and then i like to branch out and just
randomly use all the ones ive bought
they have a lot of oil pastel art that looks amazing
more homestuck but this is by steakbatter on tumblr
ooo
i like the hair and how its rendered
the only artist that has vibrant colours that i really like and keep up with is scribs
heres someone with super clean lines, claranormalactivity on tumblr and ghoststeak on twitter
im more of a twitter or tumblr artist because i love to look at lots of different styles and instagram has a lot of similar styles imo
idk what kinda artist i am
i only post on twitter cause its less shitty than insta
and i always just
Forget to post elsewhere
mood
for me clean and messy are more attributed to experience with the style
a messy art style to me is more an unconsious choice (unless youre not even like dust wtf)
or the artist who made johnny flesh
unconsious?
i think most artists with messy artstyles choose to have a messy art style
Depends I guess
Some people struggle to get clean lines so they just don’t bother
Or they prefer the look that way
these are by the same artist who made johnny flesh
I struggle more to make my lines messier sometimes even when I try lol
mood
I keep finding myself refining the lines
sometimes i feel like you just gotta not care and do some drunk lines
that was me when i worked in sai
i had to have
clean perfect lines
then i popped in to csp
and stopped doing lineart in general
now im popping into it again
but a more sketching lineart
ig its a lot easier then youre not used to doing lineart
i want to try lasso painting because it looks easier for me than regular painting
ah
lasso painting is cool
i use the lasso tool to add shadows
or atleast i try to
lasso painting?
using the lasso tool to shade a painting
yeah
you basically just lasso the areas you want to be a certain colour
devin does it well
oh so literally lasso painting lol
devin? whats his handle
mmm tastey
i have a whole bunch of timelapses and stuff saved
hat i just
Look at from time to time
i lean to stylized artworks because i dont see the point of realism in animation specifically
Ur drawings look so cool
i see i see
animation ages better when stylized
most professional artists ik that do animation have a solid background in anatomy
it helps a lot with stylizing
Oop my b
alberto mielgo is my favorite artist
my work before and after i learn about planes and actual anatomy is just
so much better
even tho im not doing realism
his art
this is from love death robots
stylized af
but you can still see the basic fundamentals present in this work
god dammit
now i want to rewatch
yeah, alberto mielgo worked on love death + robots as well
I'm just here saving some of these as inspo haha
no idea who that is
is what i meant to send
he also worked on spiderverse
i dont like spiderverse
he was the lead character designer
alberto mielgo was the lead character designer and you can see his style in the witness
pog
i love the comic book textures on the models of spiderverse characters
the halftones are 👌
yeah its nice to look at
i like columbo's style
https://naedoesart.uwu.ai/# psst
i would love to have some eyes on my website
ignore the lack of art and repeated examples
therye just place holders
just want a second opinions on the loaybout itself
ohhh
I'm so worried about staying true to the reference anime nowadays
i like smaller eyes in art
i really like the website layout! it looks very professional and i would definitely want to commission something from there
im not a big fan of those big anime eyes

ive been fiddling with the layout for a long time now
its been months by now
i dont think im gonna ever finish this haley
these are background stills from akira
i love this style so much
i like the vibrant colors with a gritty landscape and story, dystopian cyberpunk shit
@solid stagcan i see your art?
thank you
ive always wanted to try sketching with colours and stuff
but then halfway through the sketch i forget that i was planning to use a colour and i just get lazy
i do it because it makes seeing my line layer easier
yeah
ig im just a masochist
what im working on
the struggle is fun ig
and it helps me to not rely on my sketch too much when im rendering
i sketch very quickly
those are my fleshed out sketches, ready for lineart
i dont get super attached to my sketch anymore because i do it so quickly, i flesh out the drawing during lineart rather than before
when i just started out i had to make sure my sketches were refined before i could start working
hell i still have the speedpaints up..
i love going back adn watching them just to see how different my art is
my work used to be so stylized its crazy
wow
I mean more realistic is cool but for me I try to keep my art somewhat stylized
this is what my art looked like early 2019
like... big eyes
i really dislike the soft shading now
i stylize a bit as well
but i like to keep my proportions and anatomy accurate
i dont think ive ever done soft shading
this was also when i switched to csp as my main program
i went from cell shading to just straight up painting
i used to hate csp when i just started using it
used to exclusively do soft shading
cause i was so used to crispy lineart and stuff like that
like literally early 2017 when I first got ahold of a phone
i uhh. dont shade my works very often
and i just
couldnt for whatver reason pull it off in csp
damn
you guys started early
I need to redraw that ngl
i didnt get into digital art until septemebr of last year
i started 2017 as well
ngl kinda cute
that piece was a redraw of this
ive never tried doing anthro or feral character
i deleted most of my old art
when I played animal jam I used to do exclusively anthro and feral.
i couldnt stand to look at it
all the mistakes i could spot just dove me crazy
but it was fun to see myself improve like that
ive been drawing anthros and furries since i was a kid
mayve i can find some old art on the internet
hey thats really good art
i have trouble with paws. fuck paws
god bless
this is back when i started trying to use more realistic anatomy
hims hands small
this is the oldest drawing I own. Its probably from early or mid 2016 (date was added years after so its definitely not accurate)
also wtf someones selling a mask
i have an old da account that holds my first "painting"
this is the redraw I started last month lol. Improvement hi
notice the big eyes
Seems to be a common theme huh
maybe its because I ✨ like them ✨
anime fucking ruined my style
I'm still very salty about that blatant insult from earlier as you can tell hdhjfjdjk
i would draw huge eyes on my characters and i just never fucking stopped
the movement in the skirt
I just like the way big eyes look personally
this is super old, 2018
ye, I wanted it to seem like she quickly struck an action pose
god its so wonky
My art is more inspired by western cartoons than anime. I like those a lot more
like of I draw cartoony you can def see the inspo
I just usually try to draw more impressionistic now wouldn't call it realism lmfao
oh what there was a signature there lmao
one of the first times i drew shane
heres my attempt at more proportional facial features months ago
and also attempted "painting"
hey thats really good
damn
why did anyone pay me money for this crap
ah
that nose is definitely
interesting
awww thats cute
i never finished this, it was supposed to be a fleetwood mac parody cover album
crispy lines
yessd
used to be one of my favs
cause i used to love thin lines
but damn
its so crap
this isnt my art but i love this kind of style, this is by hardpee on tumblr
the redraw
no idea where the final version is tho....
i am like genuinely desperate to see harvey in your style
when i finally decided to just
learn art the proper way
instead of doing the wrong thing over and over
now to search the entire internet to find the finished version of that redraw
I always post mine on discord and nowhere else so most of my art gets lost if a server I'm in decides to nuke the art channel for no reason (which has happened before)
oh thats months old, my style is mega inconsistent so some of these drawings are one and then i cant replicate it
ah lmao
my art went through so many phases
jesus
i was working on a whole universe for these peopel
kinda forgot about it...
even had a website
this was done in july, the other was done in august i believe
and as you can see. my shading isnt that great
my eye shading is super minimal even though theyre the largest feature on the face in my style
the completed version is forever lost
this was going to be the greated thing ive ever painted
i spent so much time on the clouds
then boom csp crashed while i was trying to save
and i never looked back
you wanna see crispy lines?
i did this in firealpaca
hey i used to use fire alpaca
before i ditched it for sai
then ditched sai for csp
god i love your sub view pictures
pffft
i love having funny pics in it
tina [goes by tnr] has some of the most crispy lines ive ever seen
ooo
damn crispy
she said that learning how to ink traditionally really helped with her digital inking
I love csp. I also like the way you've got yours set up but I'm really bad at formatting
my csp workspace has been through a lot
this is the one ive settled on tho
only the important stuff
and then i get to have my ref in a new window at the side
i just use the default workspace with minor adjustments
the default one has a lot of stuff i dont need
and doesnt have some stuff that i do need
mmm
im leaving school now, when i get back can i send a friend request
ive enjoyed our conversation a lot
nice
Imagine a big iceberg on the water surface and under it's a 10x bigger one, the surface is how much I know about CSP capacity

mood
i dont need to know much about csp tho
i just want to know what i need to to paint
blender is similar but only in the iceberg sense
blender is so fucking powerful but 80% of blender you dont need to know for modeling
Does anyone have some tips on having CRISP clean lineart that doesn’t look stiff
stiff? example
i just had a really cool idea for an art piece: a computer tower that uses living tissue and organs to function and it has a cutaway that shows the inside of the computer tower
I mean, I like thick, cartoony, expressive lines. Other people like something very thin and "this was done with a superfine inking pen and scaled down" vibe, and the tips given for these two would literally conflict terribly
So what does 'stiff' look like, and what's the vibe you're going for?
oh yeah, traditional art exists too
I don’t have any visual examples but when I try to overline my sketch it always ends up completely different from what it looked like before.
Oh sick hold on
i am the crisp line art expert
I do I just took it on snap lol
ah
I found a better example
Wdym by wonky?
Probably like, the variability of the lineweight that the brush you're using gives?
the movement of the lines is nice, but the crisp quality youre looking for comes from high resolution images. whats your canvas size typically?
I'd suggest looking at Hej!Stylus to help with brushstroke stabilization, seeing as you're using a mac
Thanks :D
also, youre using firealpaca, which has a stabilizer/smoothing function and that greatly helps with line control
Let me check canvas size real quick
i dont use mac so idk anything about programs but i do know that firealpaca already has a built in stabilizer
I used to use macs, and hej! was a great discovery for me at the time
I use Lazy Nezumi now that I've moved onto windows, but the principle is the same
If you want more control over how your lines feel, I'd also switch from the kinda brush you're using which has a built in texture, and go for one that's more or less just a regular round/oval brush
some round brushes will leave artifacts like that if the lines arent confident
No I use a tablet that doesn’t have a screen it’s just the tablet, and my usual size is 1600 by 1200
i was asking lisk that question
Whoops lol
ah, thats a really low resolution
What would be a better one?
True, but learning to use the round brush confidently also like, helps teach you how to use all linetypes more confidently
if you like low res/small images meant only to be seen on a computer screen, you might wanna consider a chunkier line and varying your lineweight
also using a round brush gives you those sort of textured lines that dont look as crisp as the look you might be going for
in a place where you'd have more shadow, or where there's a big difference in foreground/background where things overlap, the line can be thicker, etc.
When do I know when to vary my line weight?
it comes with practice
you can also overdraw your lines, making them thicker, then use the eraser to thin them out manually
here's a simple example of varying lineweights with a low res image and chunky lines
^^ dont be afraid to use the eraser tool, this isnt like traditional art where you make a line and its done
i love pixel lines
ty!
That’s rlly cute
but thats aliased isnt it?
to get the really shap edges, I have to overdraw and then erase for the sharp points
Yeah, the brown one was aliased
So over draw and then use the eraser to have sharper lines?
You could experiment to see if it works for you!
Also like, for fiddly/small linework like jewelry pieces, you can like
heres just some lines i did
use a thick line and then erase the inside where the string would be
its super high res though, i work in the 4000 pixel range
super cute!
I see what you guys are talking about when it comes to line weight
Ok this makes some sense :D
you can also experiment with lines too
With the weight of the lines or how I draw them?
this one I tried something completely different than usual, and used a super small brush and sketched the lines, putting shading into the linework itself
this was made using a uniform brush, i erased all of the sharp edges by hand
What the heck your artworks are so coool
Tyyyy!
ive been doing digital art for a long time, youll get better as you go on
it took me a while to learn how to do linework like this
Also if you like the dreamy feel that a sketch has, and crisp lines don't work for you, you can lower the opacity of your brush and redraw the line several times, then erase the stray lines like if you were sketching with pencil
i see homestuck
xD
Lol
I had over 130 back in the day
I CANT WAIT to go draw now!!! Thanks guys :D
You're super welcome!!!
hirudo being my favorite, hes a jadeblood theif of blood who controls a large portion of earth c's medical industry both human and troll
his timeline is an alternate candy timeline
I was part of an IRC community, so we did live text chat RP as if our characters were on a live text chat together, so. It was conducive to having lots of people pop in only occasionally.
im just kinda here vibing with my fantrolls
i dont really interact with the fandom cause. its still kinda bad
oh, and here's one last piece of mostly a single-size brush that I erased down a lil
Note the shadowed portions of the braids being left literally black
Sometimes a goat just wants to wear a jack-o'-lantern hat!
yee
another example of a mostly normal boring round brush with just a touch of texture on it, and again, erasing the ends to vary the lineweight just a touch
oof you can really see how lazy I was with my masking there
Oooh, it's lovely!
I always loved high resolution artists. I can't make myself do it because like, I obsess, and a small canvas is easier to let go on, but like
being able to use multiple! lineweights! in just one image!!!
having so much room for detail!
im so used to high res art that going for low res makes me anxious
heres another i did around that time
i have a favorite troll
this was a sketch i think? i think i did lineart but i lowered the opacity a lot
love it
lazy nezumi
Lazy Nezumi Pro is a Windows app that helps you draw smooth, beautiful lines with your mouse or pen tablet. It works with Photoshop and many other art programs!
but besides that god tier program
from what ive seen
best way to get not stiff looking lineart is to make sure your sketch itself is nice and loose because as you refine a work itll start to stiffen up
line weight variation and deep shadows can help alot as well
heres more art i never finished
i really like the soft quality of this lineart though
It's sharp where the fur is pointy, but look at that NOSEY
i like the nose alot
main reason i dont like most anime style is the lack of noses
i like certain anime styles, kaiji comes to mind
kaiji is an older manga so the style is a bit different than other 2010 anime
but kaiji is like. 60% nose
pfffft
but yeah i agree
thats why i say most
theres some that do include thenoses and dont have massive shiny eyes
berserk
guts my beloved
i actually do like some anime styles with the typical anime features
usually because they do something different with their design or story that make me more interested to watch it
im not a big anime fan in general
but damn
the generic big over detailed no nose tiny lips big head style is just
not my thing
the moe style
thats really common in modern anime
land of the lustrous (houseki no kuni) is a beautiful manga because of the simple style and the use of negative space in the panels
ah nice
heres some early manga panels
never used resin
also those look nice
Made the things for casts, made the moulds, still playing with the colours
but how the artist uses negative space is so stunning
the characters are a bit bland but everything else is stunning
WAIT IS IT FINALLY DONE
IS IT FINALLY DONE
They look kind of jelly beans. No wonder Abigail wants to eat them.
The prismatic shard looks very candy like...
im not a big fan of comic b & w styles like that
ive been following this manga for years now
abby & my farmer in swimsuits. really proud of this so far 👌
you're all so talented, keep it up
soooo cute omgg!!

I remember seeing your style at my reccomend page at the steam community tab, keep the good work
What is my art anymore
Experimenting with wet on wet effects
hi can i get suggestions for my lineart? also pls be gentle thanks im trying something new with my style ^^
Try more variety in the line weight
It wouldn’t look as flat
Simple example
Generally you want heavier lines in places where there’s more shadow or you want a part of something to be more pronounced than the rest
Like the edge of the jaw and chin
Ok! I'll try. I think I'm having trouble with that because my brush stays the same weight no matter what. Thanks
Ohh nice !
What watercolours do you use?
I don’t know a lot about digital art but I used to have the same problem when I tried it out; look for tablet options on your pc if you work on one
There are some yt videos on the matter
Good luck
Brand? or the color names?
Brand
Winsor & Newton
Oo those are nice
I haven't found a use for salt yet but it can give a really pretty effect
Mhmm it doesn’t work sometimes for some reason 🗿
I didn’t use salt in the ones I just did btw if you mean that
:')
I use the.....
St Petersburg I think
They're expensive but the quality is good
Yeah, I know
The big blue blob just reminded me of it but on a waay bigger scale
Yeah I see it too
You reminded me of experimenting with salt
Guess I’ll do that next:’)
Good luck :') the drying time can kill it sometimes
Maybe it didn’t work last time I didn’t because I adjusted the paint a bit after adding the salt
Maybe
Salt can be annoying
It always clumps for me
does anyone know how to have a subview on the side mirrored like this in CSP? i might have known but ive forgotten....
Window -> subview and if it's under your navigator or something you just manually drag it where you want
emily has it in the description of most of her vids
thank you!!
yeah it worked, tysm~
np
i used to do this in sai i alot
her work's so pog tho
sigh
that hand
i was planning to do a full day of hand practice.... a year ago
my motivation is non-existant
its so goddamn good
it has been so long since ive seen something i cant find something to critic on
are you going to colour it?
oop nvm just read #creative
If it's chibi there is not much you can say about it but myself I'd say their left leg should go to the other side like not both of them pointing in the middle, though if you wanted it to be like this don't mind me lol, I think it still needs some adjustments like making it shorter, cute line art either way
If you flip the image I think you can understand what I mean 😅
I usually do that to see if there's something wrong with what I draw
Soz if I'm babbling nonsense
oh wow i love that expression
thank you thank you

dropping this comm here
started out by tracing the original picture to get a feel of how the features would line up and stuff
then i kinda referenced it to stylize
kinda fun stylizing real people
its a fun learning process
soon ill be able to do it without going over the reference image first
thank you thank you
https://soundcloud.com/evilpickle-music-dept/money-idol-exchanger-exchanger-theme did an update to this
I used to be competitive with Tsipar on this game. It was extreme for us to play.
Decided to fix it up some
thats so pretty
thank you thank you
i was gonna try working with lineart again
but i realized my sketch is enough lineart for me
fair
does csp have like a blank palette..? where you can save your own colors
like in sai
i believe so
anyway i wanna share my wip
yes it does
thanks!
np
i still like the palette settings adn stuff in sai a lot more tho
way easier to work with
The bane of every artist... Hands.
i love how when i open clip studio every other program crashes as well as it
i think it might be time for me to get a new computer that actually works and doesnt crash every time i switch tabs too quickly
Exactly my problem too lol. Everytime csp autosaves and my pc breathes deeply by turning the screen black i pray csp doesnt crash
Besides changing his hair style completely (inspired from someone's commission they did for my OC) I also played with the colors and fits better this way I guess
they are still the base so we will see
csp lags on my laptop and always has. theres background processes that i cant really get rid of that take up almost all my RAM
at most i have 4 seperate windows open at one time (discord, firefox, clip studio and clip studio paint)
i rarely ever open clip studio
i do because thats how i open the actual art program
finished
csp does that for me too whenever I'm working on a big file and i just hope it doesn't crash, it normally goes black for like 10 mins each time and brain goes panic
on my old pc csp used to give me heart attacks all the time
was mostly my own fault tho
i used these gigantic sized canvases for no reason
Running csp, discord, and chrome was my pc's worst nightmare
my laptop is always debating whether it wants to make csp crash or not
running chrome in general is a mistake
chrome is a mistake
my pc ain't too bad for it now but it does it when my file sizes somehow get to 1GB or higher,, idk how they get so big fjkgf
my laptop is over 2 years old (it has a 2 year warranty) and was already an older model when i got it, though it was better than my old tower that would just HATE running csp and really anything else it didnt like
i generally use brave, but my homework tabs are open there so 👄
opera? where is my microsoft edge gang at?
opera gang
imagine all those programs, plus OBS
my old tower only had 4 gb of RAM total, and 8 gb of RAM is not a lot better than that
speaking of obs
my old tower was so fucking bad
i need to start recording my art again
same
i keep forgetting until im half way through the piece
csp has a timelapse function now
true but it just hits different when you record it, the timelapse function doesn't have the same feel to it
but posting a timelapse to youtube doesnt have the same feel as recording your screen
yeah true
i use csp's timelapse a lot but recording your screen is a diff experience lol
the zooms and such feel great
^^
ive done my own speedpaints so i know the feeling, timelapses are good for insta or twitter since they dont let you upload long or large video files
i like timelapses more because they're way easier to edit and not that heavy on my pc and memory
but if i could, i'd go all out on speedpaint
theres not much editing required for csp timelapses
cause csp only records the strokes
so theres no long pause
yeah i just add music to it for posting
im going to watch youtube videos on pc part compatibility because ive asked my parents if building a pc can be my graduation present since im out of high school this year
i just. really need a newer pc since this one is old and doesnt work very well anymore
im going to save all my csp files to the cloud beforehand so i dont lose any of my art this time (thank god for cloud functions)
the cloud function is a lifesaver
i wish i realised it was there when i used to use my laptop to draw on, my hard drive died and i lost everything
i had to factory reset my laptop last year and i lost all of my 2019 art
I think the art that i lost was from 2018 or 19 to 2020
most of my old art were sai or fire alpaca files
dont even have those programs anymore
and they were shitty anyways
so im not missing them too much
I used to use medibang so the majority of my files were them
its an alright program but it's brush selection is just meh
there ain't much to it
ew medi bang
god i hated that program so much
i used it once
and it was such a shitty experience
its cloud function is its main seller (despite being free) its just firealpaca but with cloud function
medibang is just clip studio paint's ugly cousin
fgjhjhsd
damn, this is accurate
the brush engine is wack
yeee
sai has a wack ass brush engine
but i loved sai when i used it
sai is the lil baby
its great but it doesnt get the love it needs
borodante had to suffer through medibangs brush engine, what a trooper
my tablet never wanted to work with sai so i've never tried it
I like Firealpaca
the devs dont get to update it much cause people pirate the program a lot more than they buy it
which is partially their fault
its a lot easier to steal the program than to get it legally cause the official website for sai is jsut old and crusty
looks straight outta 2001
plus half of it is in Japanese
yeah we might want to steer away from the piracy talk since its against the rules
im not promoting pirating
just talking about something that happens to be related to pirating
but yeah sure
new topic
what software do you all use to screen record?
obs or streamlabs, streamlabs has a nicer interface than obs imo, theyre pretty much the same program though
nae, have you heard of ohnips?
ohnips?
nips
theyre an artist i really like but apparently they got into some drama on twitter (unsurprising) but their art looks really nice. i love how they draw anatomy
@solid stag oh yeah they do look very nice!
really dumb twitter drama about genderbent dream daddy art
same shit different day tbh
partly why i dont use twt tbh
damn those art pieces are really good
i got into a small bit of drama where somebody was arguing about delusions not being harmful (they literally are harmful though, its a disconnect from reality) and i got blocked after being asked about if i was psychotic as a medical diagnosis and i said "thats my private medical history, its rude as hell of you to ask that because its telling me that you dont have any counter argument other than to say i dont know anything"
I only use twitter to see what my friends tweet and that is all I use twitter for
ive stopped checking twitter tbh, i only use it to look at artists i like
im following way too many people though, i might just ditch me original account and make a new one since theres too much drama on my timeline
sounds like a really good choice
i just deactivated my twitter account, time to make a new one
your old account was a worthy sacrifice for a better future
i am just going to pop in here heh
Does anyone have tips on good colour pens for a beginner?
i was following a good 700 users on my old account
im not sure if discord will let me connect my new one because its under a different email
ahh what body types would the bachelors and bachelorettes have 😩 im drawing all of them and i need suggestions
some for the bachelors:
alex: def muscular and athletic, a bit more toned but not super super muscular like a competetive bodybuilder is. slightly below average height
sam: skinny and tall, legs are a bit more muscular than his arms or torso. overall pretty average
sebastian: average all around, with a rounder face than sam. super pale with heavy dark circles under his eyes since the whole "i live in the basement and dont see the light of day very often". wide mouth like a frog because i thinks its funny
elliott: fucking TALL. the size of this lad. unit. might have some crows feet but his skin is flawless, with the exception of his hands which are a bit calloused. might be a bit chubby
harvey: soft. very soft. i see him as the oldest of the bachelors, so he might have smile lines and forehead wrinkles but not much else. probably has a dad body, his stomach prodrudes a bit but other than that hes fairly average. hes around elliotts height, a bit shorter though
shane: beer belly. thats a must have. really hairy. thick chest and arm hair. shortest of the bachelors imo, his anger is compacted
youre the best
i think harvey's mustache would be softer than expected because he actually takes care of his facial hair
yw!! i hope these are specific enough for you to invision it
i gave him like a- this moustache
based
everyone draws harvey with that kind of mustache but i see it more as a handlebar
moustaches all on their own are terrifying
the big 80's style mustaches are, handlebars look nice on their own imo
oo like
this is like a basic sketch but what about-
he has a full body and pose too dw jajjaja
like a pencil stache?
i think theyre the scary ones 😩
i also headcanon sam as half asian
east or south?
oo ok ill give his charachter those features than
i mean these are just ideas, you dont have to take everything i say as gospel
im taking everyhing you say as gospel
please dont
gospel giver do you agree that elliott has a greek nose
also you dont need to ping me for every reply
oo sorry 😩
theres literally no reason
elliott has a strong nose for sure
i will let you decide
haha i love it
the horn on the side facing us is a bit wonky imo
im a horn person so yes to the horns but you may want to adjust the one facing us
no horns
I like the horns
yeah ik i havent worked out the perspective on them so theyre flat for now
just wanted to get the symbol of horns down so i can have an idea
Do you draw horns often or? Is it mostly just human beings with no like, animal-like features?
Because if you only draw humans with no animal-like features or you haven’t drawn horns often, drawing the horns might be good practice for future reference in case you need to do them again for a commission or somethin’
It’s ultimately up to the artist though
I know you do a lot of humans as I’m a lurker so I’m not concerned about your ability in that area
ive never drawn horns before
Then yeah I think sticking with the horns would be great
ive drawn horns before, they can be tricky but theyre basically like limbs, if you can draw an arm well you can draw horns
its the foreshortening thats tricky
I’ve also drawn horns before but how good they ended up being is... up to interpretation ^^;
i LOVE horns
if you need/want to you can always use some 3D models to help w perspective
but yes, keep the horns
Horns are neat yes
im gonna try using cylinders and such first
and if im still struggling ill get some 3d assets
ive been working on this for. a good couple hours and im now getting to the lineart portion
cleaning up the sketch will give me a good indication of where shapes will be
i actually had to block out the shape of the head and torso with the polygon lasso tool because i wasnt satisfied with the sketches i was doing which ive never done before but it helped a lot
looks so good!!! can't wait to see the end result
u draw good rino!
how sketch
nae i would like to thank you for helping me figure out how to draw noses because i love drawing them but dear god they look terrible when i did them in older pictures
:O
i didnt do anything tho
but
youre welcome?
i love doing the noses
i feel like theres so much personality in a strong nose
same
i was thinking: man, leo and elliott look similar as hell
and then i drew them side by side and. they look nothing alike. the most they share is colors
leo is my oc btw
sorry i've been inactive on here lately, i've just been busy
i think i've already posted this in #creative but whatever
Keychain I love your art design
I’m currently working on a stardew character lineup and I noticed I really dislike drawing jackets
Many of the bachelors/bachelorettes have some sort of jacket 😩
dragon girl's true form sketch
i need to actually learn how to draw dragon
@shell notch poke

skEtCh
Did made her bc my little sister asked me to. I had a lot of ideas for Kristel and I kinda liked the idea about Karl being a dad. I did Kristel's mom but I haven't named her yet
i miss doing pottery, my gramma has a pottery room in her house and i havent seen her in ages (nor do i want to, shes awful)
i hate everything traditional and physical
not my kinda thing to work with
great to look at tho
i felt that
one times i did a really nice sketch ready for inking on thicc nice paper
then i ruined it when i messed up my inking

oh no
i had to do trad for my exams
it was painful
one time i was doing a mosaic
and i spilled the glue all over my paper
so i just ripped up the whole project
i really love madoka kinoshita's work, it looks digital but its a traditional painting
suprised i got a 2
i know this isnt your type of style but i love her work, its really impressive
i think ive seen her in my reommended section
didnt click on it tho cause
well
1 its anime
adn 2 its traditional
only traditional channel i watch is this one water colour dude
cause he draws really well
oooh thats clean
So...the line up I was talking about
Remind me to not do that again 🥱
I got so bored half way I just wanted to get it over with
Which it why it’s half assed
Damn I didn’t expect such a strong reaction but tbh id much rather do a landscape or architecture drawing/painting
dang
Thank you!~
:)
Alex’s shoulders look great
Thank you ^^
I think part of why I got over it is that the paper is too small for this they look compressed lol
But I couldn’t make them smaller and deal with the details it took too long as is
Love your pfp btw
i love making pokemon trainer ocs, one of my oldest and favorite is a girl trainer called Darv who has a team of really big bulky pokemon but her ace is a meowstic
im thinking if pokemon did another game set in europe they could take inpsiration from the different kinds of folklore across europe
Oh no!
Yeh they look fine c:
i thought they might be offensive or something thats good to know <333
poor woman isnt a bacholorette
no gilfs today
lmao
Hello fellow creatures! Can one of you give me something to turn into a humen causeee im very bored
xoxoxo
hngggfh how to hold pen,
Yes! Ty
youre very welcome
It's my first time doing anything related to the human being, I'm trying some things. How am I going? I would really appreciate some tips and stuff.
flip your canvas, the face is really wonky and its going to mess up everything else
if you have a tablet, i recommend drawing longer lines rather than connecting short lines together, it keeps your work cleaner and smoother
what butter said
long confident strokes >> messy hairy lines
and i recommended using a reference for the face yours doing
itll help with keeping proportions in check
even if you dont follow it exactly
one good way to get proper face proportions is to focus on the planes of the head
making sure they all line up can help fix a wonky face
A common misconception that good/pro artists don’t use references at all and know proportions and anatomy by heart
pro artists just dont rely on it as much as we would need to because
theyve been doing this for years
their visual library is massive
but even then
they still take pics of their own hands and poses
so refs are always good
Yea
They still use them, just not as often
So moral of the story, using references is good
yes
it helps
a lot
even when youre stylizing
getting refs can help with the position of stuff
and the shapes youd need to exaggerate
with those guidelines it looks like you might have been using a drawing tutorial as well. I may be wrong. But if you were, I would suggest looking at more than one, or finding ones that're.. what's a good word. 'professionally made' isn't quite right but it's in the ballpark.
Some of those tutorials out there were made by people that don't entirely know what they're doing themselves and have misinformation or mistakes, you know the deal.
for learning how to draw heads i find the loomis method that proko teaches works well
even if youre using it just for the beginning
Poses are so hard, ugh
Especially toget them to look natural
