You can measure yourself
||Mine has grown prolly half a cup over the lockdown|| soooo i see why my art shows girls with bigger boobies these days...
Lmaoooooo
but they get bigger when im near my period..?? for some reason;;
anyway we're straying away from creative topics lmao
so in the end, I only categorize boobs based simply on : S, M, L, XL lol
tonguey boi
for my artworks I mean
Fair enough
He good boi amaryn
Very good boi, i snuggle him every night when i sleep
that SLEEVE
boobs in art for me art just
them being there
and them not being there
oh another source for boobs is .. hentai manga
small prolly ranges from <B, medium C-E, F-G for large, then above that for extra large
the boobs in there look .. good.. i guess
I mean not wrong but they’re usually veryyyyyyyy big
My boyfriend literally says it’s hard to find smaller boobies characters and he isn’t a big fan of massive boobies
It doesn't even matter how big or small boobs are, as long as they are positioned correctly and not like... right under a girls chin, ya feel
flat chested girls have a fanbase i heard
this convo derails so fast
I hope junimos don’t come in and see this convo
honestly😂
But we're just discussing anatomy.
be mature and simply redirect topic to something else, it's not hard
true
So anywayyyyy
also small sized boobs characters isn't hard to find tbh
but again it depends in his perspective
especially in anime ig
Not loli
i dont like lolis, except kanna
I’ve been focusing on a lot of naked poses recently in traditional and I’m just, gosh, so concerned for accidentally stumbling across it while trying to show my art books to someone someday since they’re hidden amongst a few. Like “whoops! oh look the next page is a snake girl let’s look at that instead! :D”
Sometimes i wanna draw lolita dresses
most of my pal (they are hardline otakus lol) said that lightning has smol boobs, and what do your bf think butter?
lolita dresses are big deal, all frills and stuff
I heard kanna
I think it's more how you yourself see it, I on one see nothing wrong with drawing naked models tbh
yeah
don't bring up weird things like lolis please lol
in my art folder theres a whole folder filled with naked drawings
nothing sexual about it so if someone sees idc
of course I literally don't mean that way kek
just me trying to not be shit at anatomy
Neither do I haha, it’s more just so an unexpected surprise that I don’t particularly want to run into if I was showing it to a young person who would probably make a big deal out of it 😂
also if your bf wants to look for girls with smaller boobs butter, try look for FF characters, even though I see FF womens are pretty much normal sized
i once heard someone say, any body part is not sexual unless and until someone intends it to be so ig that sums it up
lol yeah tbh in that case, i wouldnt even show them anything
yeah
i agree with this
im lowkey scared of children/younger people
a boob is just a boob til you want it to be more than a boob
then its a boob ;3
talking about body parts is fine, but some people can be easily triggered if someone brings up about underaged body parts and easily causes misunderstandings
mhm understandable
True..
i was thinking so hard of something to say lol
make it simple : return to previous topic, boobs
I was whining at my boyfriend for a selfie
imagine if we were all in a room irl and we all went silent
because of this convo i think i'll be more conscious of mine from this day onwards
it'll make for good anatomy study lol
conscious of what exactly
how to draw boobs
im just trying to figure out this dumb body
kek
after seeing your artworks again, now I just noticed I haven't seen you drawing women
in what sense?
Leah's about the only girl I've drawn, i think
im trying to make a ref sheet for my oc
the arm is just giving me a hard time
usually when im having a hard time drawing, hitting myself in the head with a pillow often works
pfft
something could just be stuck
yeap just stalked your whole post in creative
i might just go back to my first drawing of her and just steal the arm
only leah apparently
sometimes i feel uncomfortable drawing girls and i dunno why
and I think you also draw hers quite big ama kek
oh? lemme check
eh, being uncomfortable on drawing specific sex on character is normal
huh. they dont look that big to me tho, they look about my size
lots of artist has preference drawing on 1 sex
are you sure you have knockers exactly as big as your head?
well my head is... bigger ig lmao
because I see leah's has size around her head
but the way the shirt clings to the boobs, they are about the same
yeah, leah's face... the longer i look at it the worse it gets alsdfjajsd
how I measure boob size on character is from head size
i measure by eye by shoulder width
Are we still talking tiddies
or by hand size, cuz.. you know
yes butter
Aight
ah right, hand size as well
same
are yall talking about how yau ma tei is in lockdown lol
fingers are fun
fuck arms
who needs em
i love men fingers
HOW DID YOU KNOW
I'M FROM HK BRO
gosh I hate drawing hands
gasp
You must know cantonese!?
no idea why are you enjoying it
yeah
OMG
its fun cause its easy
Can i dm you?
canto, mandarin, eng, japanese and a little bit of german
Omg
UWU yes butter
just like
put some small meat sticks on a meat stump and boom hand
i like mine looking more like sausages
boney sausages
I can't imagine someone with sausage fingers
oh heck I forgot today is my nightwatch day
brb
This is art by Yura, the Japanese artist i talked about
The hand here is just- chefs kiss
ive been staring at that white shirt for a while now
Yura also drew this sprite, this seggsy mf
the way she draws clothes is just- just.. i have no words
Clothes are so weird, you'd think they'd be so smooth but they're wrinkly everywhere but if it's too much wrinkles, it's also weird. 😩
tl;dr clothes are hard
pfft
im just gonna comm someone in the future to do this ref sheet for me
ill just draw more portraits and cry
i find this way of drawing clothes is the easiest for me, i just add a lot of shapes
I usually do the same as with hands, look at my own and figure it out.
Also bullshit my way through it.
or just put them in pockets
I'm over the putting hands in pockets or behind the back. 😔 ✊
I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore. I draw my bad hands with pride!
And I don't hide eyes behind hair/bangs on purpose anymore either.
(I'm just being proud of how far I've come, don't mind me haha)
omg why did i never think of this
time to give everyone i draw bangs
...you're welcome I guess? haha
hide both eyes behind bangs, big brain moment
might as well hide the mouth with a scarf
Ears with muffs with frogs
Ears aren't even that hard tbh.
mhm, they are fairly quick/easy to draw
I want someone to draw that totally hidden person because currently I'm too lazy to do it but I wanna see it lol
i wanna draw it but stares at my tiny ass tablet
oh actually, i wanna do an art roulette thing
Mine is also tiny. Someone with a BIG screen tablet should do it... 👀
where one person does the sketch, one person does the lines, one person do the flat colors and one person does shading and finishing
👀 n- nae...?
Ears are fine for me
We all struggle with different things. 😔
lol no
I like drawing ears
But i struggle with coloring soooo much
But a stick man with his eyes behind bangs, his mouth behind a scarf, one hand in the pocket and one behind his back.
its him
very nice him
i am really feeling like drawing some winx club girls..
i realllly realllly like musa but i can't seem to capture their personality and character that well
i had to google them to find out who they are and, there's something very nostalgic about their character designs I like it
i absolutely don't like the season 8 art style and how covered and child friendly the show has become
So cute!
ahhh
added a little dunsparce so people dont steal
so cute ;-;!!
thx :)
that moment when someone compliment your art and you KNOW they are about to ask if you can draw them for free
that has happened more than once at school -_-
what should i do a gif of next?
dino coming out of a chicken egg
lmao yea, ppl don't understand the term commission sometimes
tada!
i am practicing with stardew valley sprites first cause A: i love the game and B:it is easier to do little pixel art at my level
it is harder to see the flaws lol
nah, that's what I tell people who are interested
Less space to fill up with small shit
yee
think i screwed up the timing on frame 1
there
now the dunsparce blurb is more visible
aww it's so cute
thx :)
Lola looks like a potato 😦
or a little gnocchi of cuteness
maybe the cheek wrinkle helps?
Yeah the wrinkle seemed to help
i love her!!
she looks like shed give me a good hard talking to about my bs and then make me a bunch of cookies and it would be therapy
Wonderful!
"If you work for us, then you have to pay us not the otherwise" -Business nowdays
who tf is going to pay $2000 to write articles for someone else
wtf
if they didn't have any supervisors I could see people with too much cash blowing that 2k to shitpost on the site
no idea, one thing for sure I won't 😆
I feel that so much Jas
I like that pose though I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece :3
thank ^~^
after ive finished it i get to play sims
Hi! Okay I wanted to make a lil npc oc and idk about her, is something off? Perhaps her color pallet is too similar to Demetrius ? obviously these are just base colors
Oh wow! I love her! If you want to make her portrait in a more "vanilla" style, you could add more shading, but she looks great.
Birb
1 sketch done, 19 more to go weheh
Yes, I wanna sketch at least 20 cartoon characters, my favs from old/new cartoons
I love the portrait and the design!
It looks really nice to me already. The points I noticed that might feel off to you: The shading of the skin under the chin is quite dark and the same colour as the lines. If this is intentional, ignore me. If not, the shading can be a bit lighter and still give a sense of shade.
The other thing I noticed is the straps of the top: On one side it's flat on the body, on the other side it's a bit more curved.
If you're not looking for advice at all, ignore all that. In any case, keep it up! :D
I think the colour palette is fine! I especially like her hair colour.
when CA does outlines he doesnt just use one colour
he uses a darker hue shifted version of the colour hes outlining
csp gang
Dont forget
csp looking like a gatcha game
Ah thank you so much!!
I’ll take this into account
whats the sitch on 1.5 in the art channels? are we allowed to show the new portraits?
just spoilered i think
i dont know who that is because im too busy too play enough lately but now i want to play 😔
that's me after seeing all 1.5 spoilers
yeah honestly i haven't touched 1.5 yet lol just need to update my portrait mod
Can someone help me with drawing faces? I'm having a really really hard time atm (,:
Sure!
I'll PM the picture to you because I'm super insecure about my art
Ok I
i can offer advice as well if you want
messy sketch
so can i if you'd like a third opinion!
i'm doing the people yelling at a cat meme
omg i love it
nailed the expressions
thanks!!! i had a lot of fun with that LOL
i am having an insane amount of fun on this
That is incredible and hilarious!
thanks
Of course, your artistic talent is truly amazing
awww tysm
I love it, but would need someone who has seen the newer movies to explain the 2 characters on the left to me
the two characters on the left are bo-katan and koska, bo-katan is someone who was in the animated shows and recently ||the mandalorian||
God i love it
woah looks good so far!
omg i love that for so many reasons dsfafdk
artsy that is amazing! i could never and i admire artists who use their finger to draw so much
i used to draw with my finger before realizing it looked like shit
i used to draw with finger until i got a tablet and pen
i lost my stylus so i have to draw with my finger lol
Sounds interesting but I can't lol
Big fongers
Getting a new tablet was truly a blessing
Im angery
Should I draw plague doctors/nurses or some frogs?
Frogs 👀
this
Looks so cute forsy!!
Frogs.
frogs in a plague doctor mask
Plague doctors in frog masks. 🤔
even better
"Polls found that our previous masks were intimidating to the peasantry."
plague doctors wearing frogs as shoes
Every time they step:
rib-
-bit
rib-
-bit
rib-
-bit

wow drawing is hard and i can't do it lmaoo
Woop woop im new
everytime i make a sketch it looks bad how
I very much disagree with that statement
you clearly havent seen how inconsistent my art is lol
i just dunno how to mak it look good
it's good to try to finish stuff even if you're unhappy with it, that can help
I absolutely love the last sketch you sent, and yeah, what Jade said
Jade gives the good advices
i think you're being a bit too harsh on yourself especially if it's the last thing u posted in here
but it's your art so if you wanna do something else, you can ofc
I do like to finish what I start, at least till the line art
that's the beauty of it, you never know what will come up next, just look forward and love what you can do because everyone has a different style and way to work
Hey, you.
Yeah you.
Shush; your art is great.
@lament turtle imma do it >:)
@odd tiger You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels!
Yay!
I think you're just in the valley of the shadow of death the Dunning-Kruger effect, Forsythia.
leg
Oh, "legit", right?
No just leg
Ah ok.
Funny though because I'm in pretty much the same spot, but being aware of the effect doesn't make it all that much easier to deal with the feeling.
the cartoony part of my drawing skills is boring
i keep drawing everything realistically ;-;
i cannot get motivated to draw big things recently
I just rush an OC drawing and the shading and lineart feel smudgy and i can't focus on what i'm making and it's very frustrating-
Okay so I’m really enjoying this so far, pixel art is some NICE. But I just wanted to share some progress and any feed back anyone has
Her hair was really fun to shade
that looks amazing so far!!
only advice i would really give is making her bottom lip a bit taller and using a different color for the bandanna outline
Thank you thank you!
the progress is looking really good!
Looks nice salad!!!
yeah it looks really nice
portrait sketch of my new oc
cartoony faces are hard but im getting there ig
the hair looks really cute!
I love how you draw lips!
Trying a dwarf fan art with my new stylus, any thoughts?
Now I just realized that I don't know how to make an arm
hes there for moral support
blankets to save the day
awwwwww
this looks very nice but are you intending to put it into the game as a portrait? because if so it needs to be a certain size (unless ur using portraiture)
No, no it’s just a lil personal thing. I don’t know anything about using custom portraits
oh okay! well nevermind then lol its very nice
new pixel art style, I guess? I dunno, I'm trying to for a bit simpler artstyle so I can make anatomy look a bit better (non pixel and pixel)
if you're going for a layer of cloth on the collar, try to think about the edge of cloth as a long, smooth cylinder that's being draped in a loop around the neck/collar area
sketch a tube shape first, keep the thickness of it consistent, then smooth out the lines at the bottom area of the tube
also hi everyone i went back to work recently so i havent been very active but it's still really nice seeing everyone's projects!!
oooooooo
ugh i love the way you paint skin <3 <3 <3 you do a really good job of giving it dimension and shadow without over-rendering
Why does it seem like you gotta be good at realism to be considered a “real artist”
something stardew related!
and you definitely dont need to be good at realism to be considered a "real artist"
mhm, i only draw anime cartoon ish and i still consider myself an artist
I ended up with this
oo looks good
Ik but it feels like there’s too much pressure to actually learn realism
I’ve put weeks and weeks into making notes on realism
And proportions
And I don’t know man
I’m getting better it’s just annoying that I have to learn it to be successful as an artist
Or at least be considered successful
I don’t think it’s true but according to the outside opinion it’s very heavily valued
Idk I don’t like it
Fantastic
You don't need to learn it to be successful, but it is important.
You don't need to "master" it per say, but you should learn the basics if you want your proportions to be more realistic.
its not required at all though, no matter the opinions of others.
Yeah true true
thats not true at all
Idk I wanna go through this art school
And they got a whole thing on that according to a couple people ik
Im doing a zoology major once I get enough money to go to college 👁👁
Oooooooo
teachers push students to learn realism cause once you have that foundation youll be better able to stylize and simplify while keeping great proportions
Yeah but I’m talking like school commissions and all that stuff yk like
Everyone want realism lmao
But I recommend drawing in your normal style while your also learning realism, so you don't only draw in realism and almost forget your normal style.
😔😔
Yeah I’ve done that so many times
Lol
Hold up
This is what all my recent stuff looks like
oh nice
😔
Well then do it 👐
:/
I gotta spend all my time doing sculpting and my college portfolios and stuff
oof
And the little time I got left is usually spent on hw and stuff
its not about style tho
Its about understanding the basics and getting a proper foundation
Im doing homework rn 👁👁
people get so obsessed with the idea of having a unique art style
Yeah ik, just a friendly reminder lol
Same lol
I think I have a decently unique style
Its not my main focus tho
Being unique is impossible to avoid
There’s always something different
It doesn’t have to be so drastically different compared to others
It’s just how you make what you make
this is a basic representation of how I draw dudes
except I usually add hair and a face but whatever
nagbut i like your art a lot!
Ooooo
Thanks homie
the colors in the second one are so sick and the perspective and glow in the fingers on the first one plus the crosshatching is really cool
im not too worried about finding a unique art style
i just wanna make nice art
style will com eventually
An art style is just how your brain remembers how stuff looks and how you can draw that on a canvas or whatever
that's the way to approach it if you're serious
yeah im more focused on improving
@stuck robin thank you lol I accidentally used crosshatching on a piece that was supposed to be either paint or charcoal but I’m glad it ended up being the optimal move lmao
some people are so focused on keeping their unique artstyle they hinder themselves from improving
Also I tried transposing music onto a 2”*2” area and that was a mistake lol
Don’t try it
lmao
Yea exactly
when i focus and worry too much about my art style i get way too in my head and all existential crisis-y/ wondering how someone as uncreative as myself can have a unique artstyle so i just do like nae said and try to focus on improving 😩
yeah
whenever pple talk about art style it kinda bugs me
pple place Way Too Much importance on it
Honestly the thing that helped me grow a lot is branching out
art style really isnt as important as people think it is
Don’t stay on one thing for too long
Style is impossible to avoid and extremely difficult to develop in the sense people talk about
- sweats in only drawing females from the shoulders up *
Your style is already present in your work
same here
i used to say stuff like
id never do realism
Just learn to embrace it
but doing a lil realism has helped me
like drawing hawt noses
I do realism out of fear
i now properly understand the structure of the face
and i can colour and shade planes properly without my drawing looking flat
I can draw anything but faces
i only rly enjoy realism when it comes to fruit and landscapes tbh
Try doing it like this? Why am i drawing in class
damn i wish
But when it comes to drawing a whole face I can’t
thats so cute
Like if you look at my series this year
There’s probably only like 1 or 2 actual fully fleshed out faces
Lmao
I wish I could do faces @tropic halo
face
(skjdksjdfh im a major over-renderer i feel u
)
Same but not with lips
I don't do lips lol
Bruh what even is rendering idk her reeeee
Idk if you’d consider this a face
you should practice some realism on humans
itll help with your stylized pieces
woah
It’s just the eyes
Woah that's great
And that’s all I can really do w a face
I ended up with this before the post
@tropic halo Fr at some point can you teach me how to draw faces
probably the best thing ive ever drawn and will ever draw in a while
@tropic halo at some point
most effort ive ever put into anything
Lol
Oooooooooo
idk how to teach tbh
just read some anatomy boks
That’s really good man
i went through some of those on my own time
and studdied the planes of the head
Ayeeee ibis paint x gang
then i watched some youtube vids
and did a lot of practice
Honestly teaching is p easy and that’s also helped me grow in art
Like it seems daunting
But it’s really only the factor of time
That makes it difficult
i went through a lot of sketches like these
i know im learning art in the wrong way but.. im getting somewhere so im ok with it
I can’t do digital for the life of me
i dont think theres a wrong or right way to learn
Yay
What program is that 😳
theres some basic stuff that everyone needs to know
but its really just what works best for you
as long as its not counter productive
@stuck robin there’s no right or wrong way lol just make art and your already learning
clip studio paint
nice
ik theres technically no wrong way but im literally staying in my comfort zone, not really caring about anatomy n shit just making it look like a person ig?? 😩
Realizing what you’re doing wrong is great for improvement as well
If there’s something you wanna learn
Then what’s stopping you
this right here is so important
me for the first half of my life be like
when i feel like i'm starting to get in my comfort zone too much with stuff im working on, i pick one part of the comfort zone and try to move out of it in the next piece
so many people are just lost in their heads
also yes this
thats why its good to get criticism
so you dont end up growing into a delusional artist
like this
it resembles a human figure I guess
you do have a really strong sense of proportion! which is important, and honestly one of the most difficult parts of starting to learn and understand anatomy
from there it's a lot of tightening of the basic screws
@stuck robin if you want lessons or some guidance or something like that in branching out into a new style I and I’m sure many people here would be glad to help lol
I wasn't even trying with anatomy I thought the atamony sucked so that's a surprise to hear 🤡
Also your out here talking about proportion while the oc I drew that your referring to is 7'2 lmao
i love doing cartoony ish works
but i just cant bring myself to stylize to that level
i like having all my proportions realistic
LOL for proportion i mean the way the shapes of the body relate to one another! it makes sense and it isn't like, uncanny valley, you know? sometimes (esp when moving to a human figure in a cartoony style) it's easy to lose that humanoid aspect in the proportions but you have a good balance
tbh I think I stylize a bit too much
this man being an example of thst
I got notes if anyone wants them too lol
Like a whole ass Wikipedia page of proportions and shit
B) 👌
his cheek really went <
usually when i'm teaching figure drawing to my kids (we just finished a huge figure drawing project so ive got these notes fresh) i start by having the students sketch a rough gesture of a figure in a simple pose and then going through the 8 head model so they can see the differences not only in how the figure occurs naturally, but also how they naturally read the motion of the figure
Not much on the face yet tho
Wait are you a teacher 😳
ah yeah
bro your old
not in a rude way lolol
lol
best advice for drawing faces is just
looking at references
and see how each face is different
LMAO im physically 23 but spiritually 87
do lots of sketches
I only teach one person tho
I'm still a teenager wondering what type of pancakes I should eat today while your out here teaching people 😳
face is so difficult because its the most recognizable part of the body so theres like a fine line between uncanny valley stuff vs stylization imo
I’m only 17 so idk if I can even be a teacher
best portrait teacher
@tropic halo thank you so much
Imma snatch that
i mean in a waaaay we all teach and learn from each other by sharing our work, that's the nice thing about being in a little art hub
👌👌
ooo yeah nae these are great
@gray gazelle what age do you teach
2 year olds 😩👌
i teach art actually lol
but it's like, an after-school kind of thing?
pog
Ahhh icic
Same w me sorta @gray gazelle
so an extra curricular thing?
and boom thats it
Except as I said before it’s only one person lmaooo
im not in a real school currently it's like a company that does art classes
o worm? niceee
listen!!! you gotta start somewhere
i could never teach
Yea ig idk
i dont have the patience
I worked my ass off for like 6 weeks
you start with one then it becomes 3 then before you know it everyone is calling you "Mx. X" and you're like "oh no"
Making proportion notes
"im authority"
And I’m only 17 going hard in my junior year tryna get through my shit
Im an age 👁👌
And I missed half a semester lmao
I didn’t sleep for so long
And it was only for one person lol
dang I can't spell 😠😠😠😠
oh nooo :'c wait was it like a private tutoring thing?
zoom academy is just 😃 👌 great
Word 😳
or private lessons I should say
More private lessons to an old friend that wanted to learn
aaahh
There are other that want to learn as well but this is like a trial stage rn for me
ok i gotcha!! yeah the first few times you teach (esp on your own) is pretty hard
I made this for the upper upper body and that took more than half a day to get down
It was ass but idk man
but the benefit of teaching in a one-on-one setting is you work directly with the student, you can really understand where they're coming from and how to explain it
omg woooah that's a really tight ref sheet
I’m glad I get to teach it especially to an old friend of mine
man look at those delts
yeah!!! it's really fun right? even if it's hard
i think the nicest thing is when I get to teach adults, a lot of times it's like
Fr it’s one of the only things I look forward to anymore lol
adults that used to make things, or want to make things, but dont know how to start
I teach my art teacher stuff and she teaches me stuff too
and it's cool to see where everyone is coming from and helping them rekindle that
!!!! that's so groovy
honestly i learn a lot from my students too especially the kids
Dude Fr
Kids are the most creative and smartest artists ever
They aren’t limited by what’s in front of them
And it’s amazing to watch them go at it
best teachers are the ones that dont sugar coat
lol one of my kids used a fan brush in a really cool way to get a leaf pattern and i was like "saniya ,,,, can you show me how you did that,,,?"
if youre not breaking my spirit and making me cry then i want a new teacher
Lmaoooooo
sfksjfhkjhf yeah oh my god
see there are some classes where i maybe put a few extra slices of bread on my complement-critique-complement sandwich
but i try to keep it meaningful
My teacher sugar coats all her critiques except for mine lmao
and I could be more glad tbh
there's a lady named betty freidan (i think?) who wrote a rly good book called drawing on the right side of the brain, and one of the things she talked about was like
teaching people to find value in their art, even when they do not like it
Like she goes in on a couple but I’ve never heard her say “hmmmm are you sure about that?” More to anyone except me
If you can I would love to see this book lol
i hate when people suger coat stuff
cant expect me to learn if youre buttering me up
off topic but I wanna animate this
https://open.spotify.com/track/7o67roCVsFiCt7Cf0ZLOJq?si=UZqY60Z3Qzaxo6hUHRsw6Q
and the main example she gave was how in middle school students start to see the difference between what they envision vs what they create, and compare it to the standard or realism/the mental image in a way that's very one-note, so they miss all the interesting aspects of what they've done by looking at all the things they got wrong
heh that would be a fun song to animate
indeed
i wanna make an animatic one day
but rn im working on my extended universe and i have to make like
20 portraits for all my characters
and that leads to kids feeling like art just "isn't for them" because they get so caught up in the dissonance, which is why a lot of people stop drawing around grades 5-7ish
Fr in my AP classes on critiques people were going in saying “quit half assing all ur shit man” and stuff like that on a piece of paper that everyone looks at lol
laughs in a universe with 35 OC's in it and a ref for everyone
also I have 37 pages of plot send help
thats awesome!
Oooo yeah your ability to think freely is limited by what’s around you
i like when people are straight with me
just tell me whats wrong so i can work on fixing it
so i try to keep that in mind with my crits, i ask the student what they're struggling with, try to give them advice in the right direction, and point out something else that i usually like, genuinely like and enjoy about their work
The old animations I made for it could use some improvement so I might remake them
yeah i hear you, im a lot more straightforward with the older students/more serious students
imagine
a lot of the kids just wanna vibe and i cant blame them lol
I feel bad cause I intimidate all my friends that wanna get into art
it.can be a reality if you try 👐😳
I’m open to help and critique them
im making a comic with em eventually
so i wanna make sure all the characters i have are completely fleshsed out
Nice
But I’ve only had one friend that will allow me to be direct w them
And that’s who I’m teaching
You sound like a pog teacher lol
making a website to store everything
@gray gazelle can I see your art btw?
I just use toyhouse nowadays
eh
toyhouse wont work for what im doing
makes sense
this is the website of betty EDWARDS (not freidan lol rip), who wrote the book (she has tons of useful workshops and things) https://www.drawright.com/
and this is the book! https://www.amazon.com/Drawing-Right-Side-Brain-Definitive/dp/1585429201
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
i want people to have a place to view characters with all their background info
the plot of the story
settings
all that stuff
nae is the recent pony tail part of your au?
uber why
thanks !! i try to do my best i really like teaching
B)
ignore bob
hes a place holder
afdjhasf oops i didnt mean ponytail i meant ponytail art part
Oooooo thank you Imma show it to my teacher
also yeah haha ive been doing a lot of digital stuff lately but i teach traditional since that's what i like, have been doing for more than 2 years
n some old school pieces
Yooooooooooo
That looks so good man
I love it!
And I can’t do digital for shit lol so it always amazes me to see art on that platform lol
yo it took me AGES to figure out digital stuff oh my god (also ksdjfkdsjh thank you)
Yw!
noodle those are so cool!!!
@gray gazelle lmaoooo this is the only digital piece I’ve ever made and it was for a graphic design course
;o looks goodd
ooooo what was the project? i really dig those colors
people are so talented and make such cool art it makes me happy
Idk it was a blow off project bc of covid
ive never used google draw,,,,, is it like, useable
i jumped from krita to csp right away lol
tf you used google draw??
i think i've used it for shitpost art and it's very hard to use
@gray gazelle idk lol it’s adaptable ish
i commend you
i love how expressive your lines are??? and you have such a good balance and contrast of values too
For my AP portfolio
Thank you lol I went through 3 ballpoint pens
I was gonna ask if you used ballpoints ksjhfksjhdf
ahaha worth
wow yes agree with cinnamon
noodle i feel like ive subconsciously known you were a teacher all this time
i cannot dilineate myself from the Teacher that Tries to Connect Vibes
you do a good job of treating the sadness with levity tho
Thank you
i find a lot of times younger artists kinda make the sadness/emotional focus of the piece like, the whole piece? and that distracts from the actual work itself and takes away from the value of the emotion, but you really balance the context well with the content'
"younger artists" i say that like i literally didn't graduate from college like a year ago lol
In all my pieces it’s meant to be dramatic in subject with black and gray but there’s a glowing pop of orange in all of them to represent an absence that still holds presence in our lives idk it’s a wack ass Idea lol
ive literally painted with my own tears
It’s meant to be more about absence than sadness
ooooo i like that symbolism
same i cried on most of my thesis pieces in school lmao
both the crazy detail and the greater picture in the piece with the eyes is insane nagbut
shoulda gone for performance art, i coulda just filmed myself having mental breakdowns and gotten a's across the board easy peasy
Word 😳😳
I wish I could change but I’m locked in at this point
you're almost there dude!!! just like.... 4 more months til ap submissions? 5? 4-5? it's been a long time since i thought about aps rip
I think so idk
good luck!!! your work looks so strong though i think you'll do really well based on what you got already
I got a 5 last year and I need to pull through with 2 more 5’s to avoid crippling debt over my head for the next 50 years lol
And thank youuuuu
and your art teacher sounds clutch based on what you told me so i think you're in good hands in terms of guidance
performing arts at my school was wack
it was either that or music
so i chose music
cause is take that over dancing on stage in cultural dress anyday
lots of traditional stuff
nothing fun and new
just shit from african days
aaaaa gotcha
Dude I wish I could do music too
^^ same
memorise some dumb theory stuff for the written exam
then play random songs for the practical
i play a couple instruments
but none were from music class
i didnt do it cause i liked it
i just did it cause it was an easy grade
I’m drawing Shane rn but. Here’s the thing I can’t draw men
I haven’t done much w that
oh I play Piano too!
@lament turtle sickkkkkkk
I’m trying my best 😭
i think the extent of my musical background is the time in 4th grade where everyone had to learn the recorder but that's it lol
thank you!!!
Yoooo I did that lol
same, i learned how to summon satan with hot cross buns
you did what-
skjdfksjdhf
@lament turtle
Here’s some basic proportions on how to draw the male build @lament turtle if you need some help going through it lmk
thank you!!
Anytime!
some elementary schools in the US have their kids learn to play the recorder one year (usually 3-4th grade?), i think for like, lung strength or something? there was an actual reason behind it that wasn't to give everyone hearing damage im p sure
Wait
no I know the recorder part I meant summoning Satan
Fr?!
OH LMAO
I also played recorder NDBDBCBC
ripripripripr
i think so???? i remember reading it somewhere
but also that could've been a whole lie and a hald
*half
Hmmmmm
i play the alto sax
the guitar
the piano
recorder
and i played the trumpet for a bit in band but buzzing was not my thing
Anyway idk I play piano, clarinet, and trumpet
As well as most other percussion instruments bc
Piano n shit
And trumpet annoying as hell honestly
I don’t play it much anymore but I own one and I know how to play so idk
buzzing is painful
I play piano and clarinet
it was was hard to change my (insert italian name for muscle memory here) to switch from alto sax to trumpet
oooo yeah i can imagine, that's a whole different mode
I play clarinet and piano primarily
Good stuff
a bunch of my friends played alto sax in hs
WOW
Oooooooooooooo
!!!!!!!! <3
That looks amazing
he's so cute!!!!!
oh shit
i didnt do anything to his bubbles
theyre still just a sketch
oh yeah when replying please don’t ping, thank you!!!
Ohhhhhhh I thought you wanted me to ping im sorry lmao
I’ll watch out for that in the future lol
@gray gazelle can you critique one of my pieces rq
I’m giving it to the buyer tomorrow and idk something about it seems off to me
ooo sure
nono it’s fine!!
Okay good sorry again tho lol
oooo ok so 2 questions:
- what medium is this
- what was the context/prompt (?) for the piece
It’s all just acrylic paint and they literally only told me abstract and cool colors
I didn’t have much to work off of lol
p cool!
aah i gotcha
Thank youu
is there anything in particular that's throwing you off? i think it looks really groovy
Idk just the spacing ig
kinda reminds me of those slated minerals with all the layers
aah ok lemme take a closer look
i think the reason the spacing is throwing you off is because you have a very large shape taking up the majority of the composition in a way that's very organic and asymmetrical surrounded by similarly organic/asymmetrical shapes in contrast with a very stark, deep, solid space, but personally i think it reads very well
especially seeing the zoomed out version. it reads really well within the smaller space
it's like i'm looking through marbled glass in a stained glass window almost
wow i really love that shape in the bottom right
reminds me of moss growing on a little rock in a way that makes me smile
yeah that's a very nice shape
LOL nah you're good! also avery nice signature
Thank you thank you
And yeah idk it was my first experience w pouring
So idk I’d say it went p okay ish
Lots of room for me to improve in that area
But thank you for the feedback!
overall though i think the spacing is generally good, the only area that makes my brain a little fuzzy is the far left edge of the big main shape? since it's so wavy in contrast with the smoothness of the other borders, but i think that's mellowed out by the actual motion of the colors in this piece
of course!!! i hope it helped, i'm sure the buyer's gonna love it
very serene and beautiful cool shades
Yeah that was the most controversial inclusion of my piece lmao
oooo we love controversial art decisions~
Based art 😳
people just like a lot of rhythms and symmetry usually, but i think the disruption of the symmetry here works generally well
Alright alright
Thank you sm again lol
I always ask for help or advice at the worst times when I can’t do anything else to it lmao but thank you
yeah no problem!!! i hope it helped
NAE IT LOOKS AMAZING
and i do the same lmao
nagbut that looks so cool!!
it's the Stress of looking at it and never knowing if it's actually done
It helped a lot lol I’ll keep your advice in my mind for the next encounter I have with pouring lol
Dude
I hate that feeling
thank youu
I’ve overdone sooooo many pieces
im glad my art is improving to the point where i dont have to fully render it for it to look nice
I go in on realistic pieces and I can’t stop touching the subject lol
right??? literally one time i unsent and resent a work (it wasn't even a paid piece!! it was a silly doodle for my friend!! for fun!!!) because i kept looking at the document and screaming internally and changing things
It’s so hard to just be content w what you make sometimes
yeah
Brooooo I’ve done that way too many times
i have to physically force myself to close the documents and hide them in folders when i finally make myself stop
Like shit that doesn’t even matter bothers me so much lol
The only problem I have with stepping away from a piece is that
I never come back lmao
I have pieces that I’ve left unfinished that are like sooooo close to being done opened for like a month
My dresser has like a literal 50 unfinished pieces
On it*
ooo yeah i have a lot of traditional pieces like that
I have a piece that I’ve been making for my friend since beginning of sophomore year
there's a canvas with lily pads i haven't touched in months even though i only meant to take a day off from it.... in april....
And I haven’t touched it in about a year now
oooooooo
Dude I could make a whole portfolio of unfinished pieces from april lol
oh wow those ripples in the water!!!! amazing
April was all trial and error for me on the lockdown
I did art on and off
And thank youuuuu!
oh geeze yeah i hear you
i was working at a paint-and-sip and all my coworkers and i were having existential crises of "we keep saying 'oh if only we had time, we'd just paint. and now we have time, and we just. cant paint'"
Dude I feel that all too often
finishing a piece is still big though!
I’m on top of my shit constantly and I have too much free time
And all I do is sit and sometimes sleep
honestly? sometimes that's all you can do lol
Frfr lol
And the piece I made is probably one of my all time favorites even though it’s not completely original
oh????? can i see????
Yeah it’s actually one of my selected works for AP this year
listen most famous art isn't even original, it's mostly just bible fanart lol
!!!!! nice
OO
It’s from an anime I was rewatching over quarantine and I felt like remaking one of the landscapes
oh wow
the textures you got here are really stunning
with the road and the foliage both
I used like 4 different mediums I think
what did you use?
I used some graphite, alcohol markers, watercolor markers, colored pencils
And there’s more than four hold up
oh wow
honestly they all flow together really well i thought it was all just watercolor or gouache
Gel pens, paint markers, one very very small part I used acrylic paint and oil pastel, and a dying alcohol marker if you count that as a medium
I can’t do just watercolor
Idky
It’s always gotta be alcohol markers or pencils or paint
Something I can actually control ig
its been getting easier for me
i usually try to refine everything as much as possible
