something really small but i'm really proud of it
fyi this is how i do it
Ah
but depending on your preferred artstyle you can e.g. vary how hard your shadows are
and how much hue shift you do etc. etc.
They look so pretty!
@gloomy turtle The stuff featured in that image I made is simpler than what it seems to be, it required some trials tho
The "archives" are nothing more than this rectangular marker brush with spacing ramped up
The clouds were a bunch of big dots with a water brush and some non blurry mixer brush
The "grass" was about the same but with the knife
testing out art styles
Be careful with the airbrush tho
Especially if you're a beginner
Too much and it'll end up looking soft and muddy
Donβt know if you were specifically saying that for amaryn or just as general advice, but they are definitely not a beginner π
i actually meant the person they were answering
but then replies funky
definitely not for amaryn tho
hahaha i know, great point nae
adding to that i usually go very light-handed with the airbrush and keep the airbrush colour not that far off from the base (if that makes sense) so that there isnt such a big contract when I'm still on the first layer of shading
my first shading colors is usually really close to the base as well
too bad im lazy
so i end up doing all my shading on one layer
my skin tone colours
How many layers of shading do you guys do, or recommend doing?
i cant recommend my workflow to any one
its built from pure laziness
i do one layer for everythnig
i have my sketch on one
base colours on one
then i merge
and do all my shading and rendering on that one layer
I usually do one layer base colour, one layer shading, one layer lighting if needed. Idk if I should do more layers though.
use what works for you
i used to think i had to use more layer just cause everyone else is using more layers
but its really jsut what you prefer
I've started locking layers after being done with them like you recommended.
Has made it easier not messing up lol
yes
locking layers gang
its just way easier for me that way
than to end up drawing on the wrong layer and not realizing til im done
I just figured out how to lock layers and my life is complete
Could use in my favor, because everytime a little kid sees me drawing digitally, they ask "Can I mess up your drawing?"
i dont have kids around me when i work
they touch and talk too much
in fact
i dont have kids around me ever
i just kick em out the moment i see em coming my way
I feel that. I try to avoid it too but I have nieces.
My mom works with kids, my neighbors are kids, part of my family are kids, all around the ages of 5-9
Ang can never avoid kid π they r kid
I'm 13 not 10
still kid aged to me tbh

being kid isnt bad thing lol
makes you closer to being a goat
im so far from being a goat π
hahah kid
kid is like
til 16
for me
and im sure people older than me will see me as a kid
Can confirm, kid is everything up to around 20 for me.
nice, im not a kid
o dang, im probably back to being a kid
Me too lol
high fives in Italian
high fives
Ah that reminds me of the wip I have.
is it rly living if you dont have a wip ur avoiding
ive been staring at three pages of a comic for the last three hrs
i like to pretend ive gotten things done
i use one skin base layer and 7 layers of shading
Is that every layer a darker shade for shading?
layer 1 is soft airbrush shade; layer 2 is basic hard shade; 3 is darker hard shade; 4 is the outline of the shaded areas with a contrasting color; 5 and above are lighting layers
generally that's how it goes
I see. π€ I never do outlines for the shading. Do you have an example how it looks?
Thank you!
that outline, if u can see it
yeah when shading you gotta know where to add hard edges
and there youll have softer edges
I think I'm using a shade way too dark for shading idk I gotta check that whenever I finish that wip.
I usually do the outlines with a soft brush or a hard pen depending on the style of the whole piece that I was going for so yeah
i use a brush that allows build up
I'll keep that in mind!
I use a brush that has opacity so I can get darker colours with more pressure.
opacity by pressure is a scary concept imo lmao
personally i put my painting brushes in low opac and build it up
nah its not opacity by pressure for me
i just have to go over a stroke multiple times before it gets to the full hue
oh another way to shade is just blend like your life depends on it
Like how i do it with clothes
I feel like I'll get lost with color picking tho
It's actually opacity and size by pressure.
Yeah size by pressure I do but not opac
And it's working really well for me. I'm actually pretty surprised lol
Oh that area under the nose looks pretty
that just called my art shit in 27447 languages
what-
pro-tip: dont put your own art down while complimenting others
it doesnt rly give the artist a way to respond, and doesnt rly promote them good feels
o h
plus it also just makes you feel worse about your own art
Well i was just saying my art is shit
^^^^
just means time to practice more ;D
Everyone starts somewhere tho tbh
^^
we were all shit once tbf lmao,,, (looks at my old art)
yup
Yeah it's better to look at the things that you like about your art and acknoledge where you can improve.
my old art is very not good
it just takes a little patience
takes a little time
a little perseverance
and a little up hill climb
_ the dad from dear evan hansen. larry or whatever tf his name is
looking at old art is whack
like, at the time i was proud of that
and now its just bleh
but thinking past art is bleh, is kinda good? like, yeah, ive improved since then, nice
my sister wants to learn to draw π but like a typical 9 yr old - zero patience lol
she considers a few days of trying to be 'enough practice' and idk how to convince her otherwise
It could be a matter of developing taste
Does she wanna stop drawing after she has "practiced enough"?
its good to be able to identify your skill level
know where youre at and what need improvement
So on so forth
but dont tear yourself down
she wants to stop trying that particular thing, yeah
like, if she can she'll get me to draw parts for her bc she's 'tried enough' and has decided she can never do it
Ah I see. :/
Maybe she needs to cycle through everything until she gets back to the thing she thinks she can't draw and try again.
Ah yes, try gin, what I always do
Try again, not try gin π
hahah joking
she'll eventually learn patience and that she needs to practice
but for now she's pretty content just to draw whenever she remembers I like drawing, and she likes liking whatever I like lmao
does she do trad art or digital?
She's too young to try gin, but one day...
trad
she doesnt have access to digital yet
when she learns to not wreck all technology, maybe she can have my current tablet one day
I used to draw six boxes when i was doing art as a child and draw the same thing in these six boxes, and each time i aim to draw a better version of that thing
i got better at spotting weaknesses in my art that way, dunno if that would work for her tho
ooo, i might suggest that to her next time she comes over
and maybe show her the idea, too
I used to obsess over drawing one thing at a time and drew it a lot. Wasn't the worst practice.
a young persons obsession with smething is unmatched
the way they focus on smething and just Make so much for it? so powerful
Plus if you wanna practice creativity, you can try combining two very absurd ideas, e.g. birds and pudding, and try to draw something from that
bird pudding . . .
Haha idk, that was random
A pudding turkey. Wobble wobble.
it does sound like a cute idea tho
Maybe a pudding with wings...
I like that prompt tbh. Every time I look at art prompts it's just one word and I can't work with that. But two words? Bam. Creativity.
i always struggle with prompts π
Like "balloon". Ok I'm drawing a balloon done now what?
But "balloon forest" yooooo
Sometimes when I get into my art blocks, I try to combine weathers and objects too, e.g. rainy days w/ a red dress
then I can somehow conjure up a mental picture
Oh that reminds me of the emoji username generator, I bet that one would be great for that bc it combines the names of two emojis like leaf unicorn.
i do that sometimes now
because I associate weathers with emotions and ig that's just what i needed
i do that when I come up with my very initial compositions
yeah
works well for comms
to give em thumbnails and such
i normally do the same drawing over and over but with differnt poses and such like that
Technically speaking I would ideally come up with 4 small thumbnails, choose the best 2 to further develop, then choose the better one to make into a proper piece but-
I'm lazy.
pfft
That's similar to what I do too haha
i save my thumbnails that i dont use for one drawing
cause then i can just go back to em
and use em for another drawing
i once sent a client some 3 thumbnails
and he couldnt choose
and asked me to do all 3 of em
Damn being commissioned is hard huh
Oh so you do charge them more, ig that's fair
its a great way to get practice
especially since im not good at coming up with idea for myself
yeah
for the price of 3 commissions
Hah, I do ask for commissions in pairs because I can use them as phone wallpaper

Now I wait for Ciervobizarro to open them again hehe
One home screen one lock screen?
I think I can get Artisan today... but now I'm shy to message Bouncer again for the third time. :')
what csp brushes do you guys use?
Both
Yeah that's what I meant ^^ since you said you always order two.
I use the Custom G-Pen (you can get it from the official CSP account on Clip Studio) for lineart (mostly)
for painting and shading I use custom brushes as well, do you want links or...?
yes pls
Oh one brush I use that's default is the perfect oil paint brush, for clothes shading
you and me both
a custom square brush
a custom triangle brush
custom soft brush for skin
g pen to block in solid colours
and then the default water colour brushes
ooh cool
there a brush for freckles as well
but i only use those for portraits
and the blending brush is another thing i hardly use
only for big surfaces
those are some great titles
I use this one brush for 90% of everything in painting
Did you name your brushes nae?
i think i use this one actually
oop-
hell yeah
Nice π
I'd get so confused tbh
lmfao
same hahaha
you work aight is a custom brush i made
trans honey is transparent water colour
oh plague is the opaque water colour
I kept my brushes with their original names just so it's easier to find them tbh
dumbass is a brush i hate
Give the brushes you hate degrading names to assert your dominance.
hell yeah
I like that tbh.
could totally just delete it but thats no fun
name your brushes after people you hate and then abuse tf out of those brushes lmao asdfajsd
I don't even know what my brushes are called I just go by the pictures.
pfft
theres this one brush in krita that i really like
the oil brush with the hair
its almost like a real paint brush
Greasy Beauty.
very cool
for texturing I use either Chalk or Crayon
krita was too hard for me to get used to
What you guys use textures :x
Krita did take two or three tries for me too but I have little alternatives. Then again I had a hard time getting into Medibang Paint Pro as well.
I always tell myself I don't need all these custom brushes but I can't stop downloading them TT
krita is great for painting
i just hate hate hate how it keeps crashing and freezing
That sucks! It's running very stable for me.
if I want to be XTRA then yes
medibang is ugly
prolly the only program i hate more than krita
Medibang has its benefits but it's ultimately just a comic programme.
I did like it and would not have ditched it if it had a Linux version.
I downloaded Medibang once, drew a rabbit, saved it, then deleted Medibang
I actually hated Krita in the beginning because of the way layers work.
the whole thing was just too confusing for me honestly
I used to use it next to Paint tool Sai.
the layout of everything was wack
ive forgotten how krita works already lol
Ngl. I tried getting back into art with GIMP. Ditched it so quickly.
When you've tried painting with Gimp, every art programme is a better choice.
gimp is gross
I mean... have you tried MS Paint? It's chefs kiss
gimp yucky and i hate it
At least Paint has good brushes tbh haha
I used csp and i couldnt go back
I tried FireAlpaca but it's meh.
firealpaca messed with a file i had for a comm a while back
and i never used it again
i use fire alpaca cause it was the best of the free programs for me
then i got sai
used that for a while
great for lineart
meh for everything else
I liked Sai but idk it was kinda basic. No transparency but idk if it was just the version I used.
tbh i didnt even know (before i proper got into digital art) that firealpaca could be used for something other than photoediting
but anyways
csp is stinky for lineart for me
it feels too heavy and such
Sai had great lineart options though. I miss that. Medibang had that too though.
so i just never used it and stuck to sai
then i started painting
didnt need to do lineart anymore
and switched to csp completely
I miss a proper path tool with line sizing.
do yall use light mode or dark mode in CSP?
Sometimes I like using light mode just to blast my eyes blind to wake myself up
alsdfjasd pfft
dark
Tbh I feel bad they sell the commissions so cheap, reason why I tip everytime I could
all the way dark
to be completely honest I would wanna do commissions but my irl schedule is just very unstable
commissions seem fun
You can organize a schedule and open a number of slots based on it
Oh good idea
since im not doing anythnig irl rn im free to take however many comms a month
my portrait painting and emotes have been selling like hot cakes
Maybe I'll sort something out once I got my graphics tablet repaired
i personally just hate how the other ones look
i hate the grey and i hate the white
I wish I could do commissions but I'd feel bad about people paying for my art...
Yeah I agree with you on that, on the grey...
its so ugly
why?
Hmm why though? You put your time and effort into the art and they requested it right?
ahaha
but yeah
dont feel bad
no reason to
its just like paying for any other goods or service
Idk I do agree with you but I feel like I'm just not good enough and confident enough in my art.
flashbang
ah
I'm conflicted but I know you two do have a point.
well if its a case where youre not confident in your art then you probably shouldnt start comms
no point in selling products you dont have 100% confidence in
^^ yeah
that lack of confidence can lead to you getting scammed and walked over
on the other hand I'm worried I'll end up underpricing my stuff if I decide to start comms
Yup!
or overpricing
Yup to the not starting until I'm confident.
Also yup to maybe not pricing correctly.
I'm honestly just happy I started painting again and have a place to show it.
Atm I can tutor students irl for around USD65 for 2 hours
but lets say if i spend that much time on art i probably wont make as much money so thats why there's that issue ig
Mhm, you should always do art as you enjoy it
you can always come and get a second opinion
tfw uve been drawing and suddenly realize its 4am π
π
also tfw when you've been drawing for too long and you got so irritated you almost broke your tablet

tfw you havent been doing anyting but staring at a canvas
hehe, Stargram
me?
cause white is just really bright
and i dont really like using white at all in anything i do
i normally go for an offwhite
(but then again im almost always too lazy to change the paper color)
my paper colour is set to a grey
plus this is a nice midtone
so when i start shading in grey scale
i can use this as the base
for me its this color (if i could be bothered)
i used to shade in greyscale but i found myself getting bored cuz there werent any colors on screen asdlfjajs
come to think of it I don't really use greys anymore, I use brownish colors for all my bases
flashbang haha oop-
genuinely thought this was said for a moment
ive had friends tell me that my csp workspace is weird
its just what you are used to personally i think
i mean sure it looks bit out of place for me too hahah
oh btw how do you put a referencing corner in your workspace?
its the subview option
i dont even know why i have the colour picker there still
i dont use it
i just use the sliders
Oh nice! Thanks!
(maybe this will encourage me to finally use some references when drawing pfft)
I used PureRef before when I was drawing animals
it lets you drag and drop pictures off your browser and stays on top of your windows
like a moodboard on top of everything
:O
i might test that out one day
sounds cool
found a wip
one day ill complete it
I donβt quite know where to ask this, but does anyone have the dimensions of a protective case that they used for the collectors edition animal display?
i dont
sorry
thats v specific but no sorry
Itβs okey guys! Sorry to interrupt
this is how i used to store references
thats also how my desk looks near finals season
Reference tools are probably the best invention since sliced bread.
Geez every time I wanna draw and listen to some music, Linux hits me with kernel updates. π©
is there a place in csp where you can see all the assets you've downloaded?
np
I have acquired The Role π©π
Yayyy piss ganggg
congrats on artisan lucia
congrats on being piss colour
Thank you π© β€οΈ
congrats aoife!!
Maybe one day sosh will join the piss family too
I think i'm close to having enough activity to join the piss gang
Jox is next
If your piss looks like this color then please, go for a doctor visit some time in the future. (jokes)
I heard someone called the modder role dehydrated piss, even worse
dehyd- wheeze
i like how this looks
LMAOOOOOO
and that portrait looks hella good!!
ooh polygons
If your piss looks like this color then please, go for a doctor visit some time in the future. (jokes)
U just gotta drink more water :)
no
it reminds me of art in a game called orwell, i really really like that kind of art
oh orwell is fun
Granted it's been a long while since I played but it was entertaining
nice lines
lowkey making me want to go back to my lineart days
i miss the days of just looking at completed lineart
Nevah leave it without color!! Unless, it's black and white
That reminds me... I wanna draw in gray scale only one day
!!
Just like when I shade with the pen on paper, didn't try digitally oho
Got bunch of diff pens last time I went to the art store
I can't wait to get used using diff tones
Thought 7B was the darkest lmao
Looking forward to seeing the coloured version. π

I have joined the piss gang now i guess
being active and posting art pretty much
im just wondering how you got it so fast lol
dming bouncer
congrats
ty
oho neato
i like scrolling through this channel because i like looking at the colour yellow XD
All sdv related art gets posted there
do you do coloured lineart?
like
change the colour of lines inside?
ive never done it
but ive seen a lot of peeps do it
Sometimes yeah, like colouring the small lines to blend with the colour
i've never had to do a fedora in the stardew style
please end my suffering π β€οΈ
alternatively, send help
the closest thing to a fedora you can get with SDV style is gunther or Mr. Qi

She hot

:pepegahands:
ok guys, I need y'all to settle a disagreement for me. Which one is a better Wizard.
or
attach emotes to your preferred wizard
please and thank you
YOU ALL HAVE BETRAYED ME
Second looks like wizard more tho
@bright glade
lol I always hated side profile portraits in vanilla π
gunther, elliott, sandy side profile portraits are just.. ugh
@spice dawn of all stardew valley abbreviations, I've only seen SDV or SV so far
or actually that SVD stands for Starvew Dalley?
ah I see it then lol
to the point i just get sdv and svd mixed up AHAH
at this point i've kept it for the memes
but i know its incorrect
Bruhhh i like this artist so much
Perle_Art from Twitter btw
Too bad I can't understand the language
hi, it's me, a person who knows chinese
it's basically the happy birthday to you song
but in chinese
Oohhh I like that hug.
I feel so awesome that i can be a translator for once
have any of y'all seen a 2021 prompt list for Magical March around?
its occurred to me March is not rly That Far off
a chonkin man and a doctor
is magical march basically sort of inktober?
searched it up and seems like it
magical themed inktober ig
but no ones gon be an ass and tell you that you have to use ink
H... hot!!!
I don't think anyone is saying you have to use ink for inktober now a days
From my experience that was back when it just started
Isn't/wasn't inktober for traditional art? Not only ink, just any traditional medium.
Or was it only ink in the beginning?
In the beginning (God created the heavens and the earth) it was just ink tradionally I think
I see!
But back then people just had t b idea of digital art being inferior to tradional
The*
Yeah I faintly remember that it started as a "back to traditional art, no digital art allowed" kinda thing.
That's like saying "only write fanfiction per hand, no computer allowed".
Even now people try to write off digital art as being not real art
It's just not as prevalent
You know what's not real art? A banana taped to a wall.
there still is a few pple thinking inktober has to be done traditionally with ink
not as vocal now at least
not that it matters to me, i dont do inktober
I don't do inktober either. I don't have ink and I can't buy any.
Don't need ink
could do it other ways now
but rly, theres better challenges out there
Also their prompts aren't giving me any creativity.
I just don't do inktober cause I'm not interested in cranking out a drawing everyday
yeeee, inktober prompts are kinda ass
Full drawings everyday isn't my thing
as far as I know, inktober doesn't really matter if you're doing trad/digital
I know I know ^^ I meant just their premise of "ink or bust" kinda put me off so now I'm not doing it either way even if I could do it digitally.
I do draw everyday tho
ive got a sketchbook somewhere from where i did inktober a few years back
the art is so shitty β€οΈ
Nice
I like doing a traditional sketch, take a photo, import it to a programme and then refine it digitally.
I don't draw tradionally at all
I like my shortcuts too much
I'll miss my lasso and my transform and my undo
I'm learning to do better digital sketches now so I don't do much traditional anymore.
Those are my BFFs
i used to do all my sketches traditionally then colour digitally
now i mostly do digital and do traditional art whenever i figure my cats will leave me alone
lowkey jealous of pple who can colour good with coloured pencils tbh
I try to stay between them, I like sketching cartoon characters especially now I wanna draw like 20 of them 10 males and 10 females especially from old cartoons
i've gotten better at it, but i do still be needing practice π
Just practice
Can't get good just like that
that do be the plan
I totally left my pencil and eraser almost completely ever since I got drawing tab kek
smh
I want one of those sticky squishy erasers for art.
literally everytime i say im not good at smething, or jealous of someone elses skills, you can assume i do b practicing
Way better than those smudgy things.
Cartoon studies are great
I do a lot from lilo and stitch and ponyo
ohooo
i dont own any erasers
i live and suffer with my traditional art mistakes
ctrl+z and multi layering is my lifesaver after all
I own an eraser for school stuff. One of those red and blue things.
watch me trying to draw my character in different cartoon styles, I freaking want to do that so bad!!!
Legends say you could erase fountain pen ink with the blue part. U.U
i dont need one
i dont use pencils outside of sketches
what would i need a rubber for
Sketching....
i live with my sketch mistakes
I see
my traditional art is all practice
idc if the sketches are rough or bad
Good on you then
one day im gon buy a decent mechanical pencil
my current pencil for sketching do b getting short
a ref sheet for your One (1) oc?
ig just make sure it makes sense to you, maybe check out other pples ref sheets to see how they do em, tho im guessing you've done that
I love mechanical pencils
I used to have one but I think I ran out of replacement tips.
And now I can't find the pencil again.
I have
Yeah
all the mechanical pencils ive had in past havent been great π the lead ends up getting gummed up in em
Lowkey don't know what style to do it in
My painted style or my regular lineart style
Don't know if I wanna make her sexy or cute
a more simple style probably - smething that Just shows the characters design
Lots of choices
I wanna make it so the design is clear but I also want it to be pleasing to look at
whats her personality like? would she want to look cute? or would she want to look sexy?
that makes me think sexy
but ig sme pple do go for the cute crazy look
I'll just wing it when I start drawing ig
Thinking of painting her tho
Gonna do a couple portraits in the ref sheet
And one full body
Mainly cause I hate doing full body and I love doing portraits
The lasso, move and transform tools are fixing all the proportion problems I have. Thank goodness.
I learned proportion in art class and I know the theory but I can never put it on the canvas correctly :/
I can relate this alot lol
there's no transform tool in traditional art that's why I always feel wonky towards my old traditional arts kek
I feel like it helps with learning too because you see how it looks and then you can maybe try to do that next time. And if not, transform again.
Also sketching over and over again until the hand looks better than before.
Learning art is kinda easier with digital tbh. For me, at least.
I'd try digital art, but because of school i'm basically on a computer 24/7 so art is a good way to do something else when i can
Nothing wrong with that! :)
From the pins of #creative :P
To get art pinned in #art-gallery you have to post any Stardew related art youβve made to #creative
Takes some effort but is doable. ^^
Was fairly easy for me cause I draw Shane a bit more than I should
Also figured moving the lineart/sketch colour discussion here.
I usually draw the sketch stuff in colour because I see it better than black
Seeing how other people do their stuff is fascinating to me
Especially when I put three sketches on top of each other to fix things.
3 sketches
Oh that's true! i try to analyse how they did stuff like shading, lighting etc to learn.
Yeah a rough one, one that's a bit finer and another one that's gonna get refined.
One sketch max
Sometimes only two sketches.
I do reaaally rough shapes first, then make it finer with each sketch.
!!!
Helps me with proportions and posing.
I used to sketch with pink
Same but I keep it on the same layer
I press lightly at first then go over with more confident lines
And erase all my construction lines when I'm sure if what I want
Yeah that's a way to do it too^^
I've seen people use multiple layers for one sketch tho
Eyes in one layer
Hands on one layer
Hair on one layer
Oh yeah I saw someone do it like that and when they were done they'd merge down.
I don't usually do that but I might for parts that I'm not certain sure and fix them after I flip
I sometimes do that when I wanna add or change something but I'm not sure if it's gonna turn out the way I want.
My goal is to just use as little layers as possible cause I get overwhelmed and frustrated quite easily
I don't, I keep everything and not merge lol
I work tidy and put everything in folders

Noooo
Keep your sketches
^
Nah i don't need the one that's just lines and circles.
I merge my sketch and base colours but I still keep a layer copy of the sketch
pats nae I hope your wifi gets its shit together
It's more my phone than anything else
This never happens on my pc
Exactly
Very stinky
@vernal nexus is there a line missing here? At penny's left leg
Yes it is. π¬
The sketch isn't done yet, just wanted to show the wip.
Should have written wip on it I guess.
;3;
Added the line and made the hair a bit floofier.
Idk if it's dynamic or not but it's not flat anymore.
nice!
Ngl that line was giving me a headache because either her leg looked too thin or too thick lol
I also gotta add the clothes folds and stuff.
I have trouble with my lines too, but on the jaw
Tiny details.
It either makes it too big or too narrow
I've kinda mastered the face so portraits come easy
But I can't draw bodies for the life of me
It always looks wrong
Oh damn for me its the opposite, men bodies are the easiest for me
that angry sad face is too cute
I always make the heads way too big for some reason.
They have all these edges and muscles and uggh
men's muscles make me go uuuuhhhgasnndsljjffff
They make me go

I still have that wip of a muscle man I was drawing
I might just leave it flat coloured and call it a day
yeah these days my art progress is really spread out as well
most days i dont even draw anymore
going back to a screenless tablet is too hard when i was already used to my graphics one
I have to draw
Cause money
Can't leave clients hanging
But I haven't been drawing much personal stuff
Just been doing a lot of line practices and portrait sketches
But that's about it
Me trying to get used to my new screen tab and being unable to
I've just gotten used to not paying attention to my hand but the pc screen
Hard habit to break
Yeah it took me a while too, about a week ig
Ig I haven't been trying too hard to get used to my new tablet
I rarely even look at it
I'm too comfortable with my tiny ass screen less tab
i wish we could switch lol
my arm is still in big motions mode so getting back to tiny ass tablet is ,, a nightmare
close to end and make the profile \o/
You're doing one of those meet the farmer things?
dis, but ima customize and do it in my way, using a SDV bg
And I am pretty proud of my evolution in 2 years honestly
Yeah you can really see the improvement! :D

I only added eyes to my previous artwork, now I can't tell if this is elliott or sephiroth π€£

@grand cave
I love how you do the eyes! I struggle so much with eyes but this is giving me an idea on how to do it.
is that so? all this time I thought you have no problem with eyes
in your style I mean
ah you're talking about 2nd eye for front profile characters? π
Front, 2/3, anything that's not complete profile :')
It's always too high or too low.
And even though I know what i'm doing wrong I never know how to do it better.
Same with dynamic poses I know what's off, but no idea how to fix it.
well, and the way you draw the shape of the eyes is based on irl eyes eh
pretty sure there has to be lots of tutorials for that
It is yeah.
i wish my dumb wifi would allow me to see smookie's art
sigh
for now it just a grey box
"always draw both eyes at the same time"
that advice has helped me a lot
not sure if itll do the same for you
but perfecting one eye and then trying to perfect the other is a lot harder than doing them at the same time
just one line for the left eye? draw the same line for the right
Oh
That's worth a shot
I always did one then tried to do the other according to perspective shift
you can always just draw a curved horizontal line and then use that to keep both eyes on the same level
Yeah I did that with the current thing and it worked a bit better.
I'm using this as an opportunity to learn hands, eyes, poses.
I know it still looks stiff-ish but I don't want it to be all swooshy, it's more like a slow dance.
i struggle a lot with poses
and full body stuff
but a nice cheat for drawing hands is to just use your own as reference
;OO BEAUTIFUL
Yeah I've been doing weird hand poses the entire time but it's kinda difficult when you're drawing couple stuff haha
me taking a picture of my holding my own hand
how
even with timer I can't even do that lol
i just prop my phone up against my laptop
i always draw manly hands with long bony fingers so my hands wont even work as reference
meh, man or women hands, I always use my own hands as reference lol
so i rely on my big brain imagination π§
I wish I had imagination ugh
i have short fingers π
same
even though my hand got some blood vessels popping out
god i love veins on hands
and boney
its almost a fetish at this point
Mine are also long-ish and boney lol
damn bony hands? gib me
I always draw fingers way too thicc
lol I'm the opposite, often I have to add thickness to the fingers
i have veins in mine
but they show more due to my light skintone and from being boney than from bulging
its not very visible
I personally got my veins all the way to my elbow, in order to draw female arms at least, I only skip the veins kek
i love drawing arm muscles on men but i never thought much about veins, hmmm
Sometimes I purposely skip drawing some things because it looks weird, like when you're drawing individual teeth or laughing lines in someone's face but it ends up looking really really old.
i never draw wrinkles or laughing lines or any lines on the face for that matter idk
I try to make faces more expressive but then it looks weird and I rather go back to emotionless faces.
i just draw teef like this
veins doesn't seem to go well with lots of style, I mean you can just add it but it kinda gives impression as if your character is going to punch someone or trying to hold their pain
ooo buff
Mhm, veins only show when there is tension ig
in most cases
this will stay a forever wip maybe
unless i suddenly get some proper painting skills
as for me, I can't even draw muscle-less men lol
I always end up drawing women who look way too muscly but man-muscly not woman-muscly :|
the faces isnt even too bad
I just hate how smooth i painted it
it was my first and last time using blenders
everytime I tried to draw skinny men, I ended up give some steroids on them π
Amaryn the glow to all your drawings is so soothing to the eyes, itβs incredible
thank you!!
yeah your art has that sexy manhua boy look that i love
an artist ik
yvoi
does a style like that as well
his art is sexy
tysm!
oh? lemme google
aaah their art is soo nice
my art is inspired by yura, a japanese artist
he has a youtube channel
she is a goddess tbh her art is my everything
i watch and rewatch his speedpaints religiously
ooo ill look her up
my art is inspired by a lot of random artists
the way i colour, line, sketch
you might not find her that easily tho since she only works for a BL doujin company atm
i try to incorporate different things i like in other artists' art into my own too, thats how artstyles develop generally i think
oof the time when i struggled w my artstyle
my colour choices are almost all inspired by max (cryptidw00rm)
his colours are muah
love em
i never really cared much about art style tbh
i was just drawing just to draw
it comes naturally
a lot of people fixate so much on perfecting their artstyle that they lose out on basic stuff like proper anatomy and colours
good thing i actually like learning anat
since its vvvvv important
colour theory was another thing i was obsessed about lol
I miss art class in school which taught me a lot of stuff about anatomy, perspective, styles, colours etc.
gosh this chat is suddenly rolls so fast
my GCSE art days were... chaotic lol
did a lot of technical stuff
and my teacher was just a bitch
i failed so much because she just hated the stuff i did
some guy in my class just burnt some wooden blocks and got an A* for his final grade
sad thing in my art class is they only taught us about anatomy of generic models
we did block printing once and we were allowed to carve anything we wanted
i did a lil comic boy
and my teacher gave me 20%
i did too but i did a whole sculpture of this human head,, it was.. well, fun
so I didn't get taught about plus sized anatomy nor even skinny ones lol
thats so unfair
i really only had fun when we did portraits and when we did perspective
but i heard art teachers have this unusual hate towards comic/anime styled things
yeah it was hella unfair
she didnt even have a good reason to
I think we never had plus size anatomy either but we did sketching by model with one of our class sitting on a chair and we had to sketch him from wherever we saw him.
we never did any body anatomy stuff
ahhh i never did life sketching before
one my teacher on the other hand adores stylized stuff than realistic lol
though his bias is towards western cartoon than animes, he actually tolerates it
i have a folder filled with just
random compositions
We actually did a lot in art class, lots of different media and styles like impressionism, expressionism, naturalism etc
yeah
we did a lot of stuff
but funnily enough we never got around to drawing actual human bodies
we even did mosaics and shit
mosaics heck
yeah same ^ no human sketches
and caricatures
probably why i suck at drawing full bodies and poses now
did get taught anatomy
i learn best when i have someone teaching me
if I were to draw mosaics back then, he'd be asking me like "do you want your art belongs in animation studios or museums?"
well I'd say art youtubers did the remaining 90% of my learning curve
thats such a weird question lmao
I always had issues following tutorials, they don't help me at all :(
weird or no, his bias is clear, I know him well
I learn better when someone gives me a prompt and I try to figure it out on my own, and by looking at references.
i find japanese tutorials much easier to follow than english ones
Tutorials only ever tell me what to do, not how to do it.
but mostly because they mention points that are more.. idk, open to interpretation ig
the ones with demonstrations are best then
good thing is lots of my pals loved the way he teach us, despite all the bias
Though I like watching CTRL Paint vids. They're interesting because he actually tells me how to do stuff better.
Like how to do better sketches.
we didnt draw mosaics
we pasted stuff
i find tutorials by γγγ¨γ γͺγγ on youtube v helpful so, if yall want you can check him out
paper, glass, cloth
small pieces of it
into patterns
the school was just allowing us to experience everything
to see what you liked best
that actually sounds so fun
yeah we did a lot of random crap
back then our teacher didnt guide us into doing art in any particular form, we were free to do whatever we want however we want provided that it fit the theme
pointillism was very painful
Is that a guy with a hat? I don't speak Japanese so I can't even read the video titles if that's actually him. ;3;
back then my class is specialized in animations, so no wonder if the teachers pushed us in stylized arts than realistic ones
^ yup, the one w the hat
eh
it wasnt really about realism
if you give me a link ill translate the main points for you (if you want)
it was just about experiencing different medias
we did weaving and such
we're pushing in digital drawings compared to other medias
i wish we did more crafty stuff ^
i used to do glitch art back then, good times
tho it was actually my computer which did 99% of the work for me lmao
crafting is only 1 semester for me lol
I wish we did less crafty stuff. We did a weird shoebox thingy one time.
after that, kaput
@mighty bronze by the way smook, did you draw that stardrop using shape tool?
we did it all
we did have to make and art box kit supply thing
design it
then store all your supplies in it
that was fun
i put a wig and googly eyes on one of my dad's old cd holder things and called it kevin
the only crafting we did back then is just molding clay, which I'm really really suck at lol
it became the collective child of everyone in my class
no weaving, knitting and stuff
i dont even remember if we did any crafting, it was so long ago for me lmao
it was fairly long ago for me as well
that was back in grades 7 and 8
and i have short term memory lol
just started highschool so they eased us into art with crafts
havent had art classes since my gcse's
grades 10 and 11 was the serious stuff
preparing us for exams and such
our GCSE art exam was 13 hours long it was excruciating lol
ping pong I used a brush + shift to draw the lines heh
but im glad i didnt have to do theory based exams
god theory exams sucks ass
ah I see
covid sliced my exam in half
we didnt get to do theory
it's almost looks like as if you snitch the star shape from shape tool kek
and we only did half of the practical
i wish, i did all my law exams online with cam/mic on ;_;
they ended up just using the pieces we did through the year
the art journal is what fucked me over tho
after i typed 150+ pages i just said fuck it and gave up
still passed tho
150- holy moly
i hate online
main reason why i took a gap year
i dont want to have to do online classes
ik for a fact i wont be able to focus on anything
as if teachers going to check all those 150 pages of all students anyway π€£
what did you have to do for your art journal?
they do actually
that's probably why they just allows you to pass the test, pretty much same thing just like here
I remember when every students have to do 100 pages of religious stuff that I don't remember, and my teacher literally only checked 10 pages on the front, gave the score and that's it
he didn't even read all those damn texts lmao
its a report on all the 10 pieces we did through the 2 years (grades 10 and 11)
each student has to write a whole essay about their piece. what it mean, how it correlates to their topic, tools used, so on so forth. then you have to do research on the art type. (mixed media, graphic, drawing, etc). more research on famous local artists in those fields. it has to be decorated to reflect your topic. and a couple more stuff i forgot
oof that sounds hectic
its not just a regular test for school
these are serious test that determine if you can get into college for art or if you can get a job in the art field. its checked by the examination council. so its pretty serious stuff
but i remember doing something similar
and they read through and annotate stuff
except that it's only a couple of pages long
yeah its a lot
you also need a lot of pictures
progress pics, pics of you with your art piece, pics of the completed thing
pics of the artists you researched, pics of their work
lots of random crap
also guys
thats why they let us start the moment we enter grade 10
but i didnt start doing any of my art pieces til the latter half of grade 11
wasnt even planning to pass
can you draw bewbs accurately based on cup sizes?
'pics of you with your art piece' - this one wouldve been the hardest one for me to take lmao i hate taking pics of myself
same
probably? ill just look at myself lol
back then I tried B cup, when I ask someone's feedback it turns out I draw D cup π€£
im still better at drawing dicks than tits lol
my most recent attempt
uh I mean like.. you know.. dicks are usually covered almost completely when you draw arts in general
unlike bewbs
fair point, but i guess i dont draw 'art in general'... LMAOSKDFJLS
weighting is hard to grasp for boobs honestly, but i dont really draw girls so im not good at it
i draw girls and guys equally
i just dont do full bodies of em
just portraits
fastest way to improve would be to get more irl references
such a weak statement ama, your 'general arts' are literally posted in #creative lol
mhm, i only post my SFW arts here tho
yeah I mean I'm talking about the sfw
if people were to draw sfw arts, ducks are usually covered completely or some people may draw a very little bulge that's nearly almost invisible
or the infamous lightsabers
bewbs always exists in sfw nor nsfw
boobs come in different shapes and sizes too
perkiness and distance between the two lumps
nowdays I draw girls more often than guys, yet I'm still making mistakes in bewb sizes
there are just a lot of variables
i mean, it just comes to how often you see them irl; the more familiar you are with a body part, the better you can draw it (in most cases)
^
unless youre me
boobs dont exist at all
oh?
I maybe getting better than my past self, at least my inaccuracy rn is only 1 cup difference (for instance I draw B cup, may ended up drawing C) , not 2 or 3 (intends to draw B cup, ended up drawing D-F cup)
Essentially the more tiddies i draw the more familiar i am with how to draw tiddies area
i dont even know the different cup sizes
same with me with dicks
then I'd say mostly exists than always exists for sfw
Everyone in the chat:
i had to look it up too, so now that i know mine i can more or less speculate
that one muscle man drawing i did had more boobs than any girl ive ever drawn
LMAO
I like drawing my characters with a b-c cup... but often i ended up drawing a cup bigger
man tits are hot tho
I remember i used to draw a cup a lot cuz i was flatter back then
I'm not even familiar with cup sizes nae, gosh I'm not even a woman irl lol
I think it has something to do with my own size
Cup sizes are dependant on the band size so you can't really tell what cup size someone is drawing.
The only thing i draw that Iβm proud of is poros
me not even knowing my own cup size
