intro: Sebastian's sitting in a quiet part of town, calming himself down from social anxiety. Haley notices that he's out in the sun, and asks what the hell is up. He doesn't say anything. Haley realises something is really wrong...and she offers him a makeover. Because makeovers make everything alright. Sebastian realises she actually is trying to help.

the whole fic idea is full of little meaningful gestures that have me crying over my own ideas, so other gestures include: instead of turning up to Sebastian's house with roses and a box of chocolates, Haley turns up with purple/black flowers and a bento box. Sebastian, being the carpenter's son, learns how to carve sunflowers out of wood so Haley can always have her favourite flowers. Also, Sebastian asks Haley for a date at an alternative restaurant, Haley worries about dress-code, and Sebastian suggests Lolita as it's still pink and over-the-top feminine.

The people on the website I frequent offer adoptables based on OCs etc. Some also offer the "Random bullshit go" things but it's mostly based on others' OCs and such.

Sai has a special layer which you can do lineart as if you have a tablet

#

It’s called uhh pen layer if I remember correctly , next to the regular layer adding button

#

With that you can basically draw lines and decide where to make it thin or thick

#

Essentially you can make your lineart look like it’s done with tablet, even you’re doing it with mouse

The pressure tool will show you points where you can make the lines thin or thick, where as edit can let you add turning points to the line which you can also use to make the point of the line thinner or thicker

If you want extra value out of your money but find most screen tablets expensive you could get an ipad and pencil!

The divide between drawing on paper and hand/eye coordinating with graphic tablets is frustrating in the long run and drawing directly on a screen greatly improves that.

I suppose it's all personal but for me I literally have to redo a line when doing lineart 20+ times because it doesn't end up the way I want

Also I mainly draw on paper and only own a graphics tablet and making the switch is irritating because I need to basically "warm-up" the hand/eye coordination

I agree the lasso is a handy tool, along with the fact that a digital canvas doesn't "waste" paper if something goes wrong, and it doesn't cost anything to use the brushes and open a new canvas.

Sometimes I like sketching traditionally and it's easier to move my hands/arm when doing traditional stuff, but there are a lot of advantages to digital art.

took me awhile to think, I'd assume you mistook me for exporting into single layer? in case if you do, you know I never do that 😆

I simply made new file with HD portrait resolution (256x256), copying the layer folder I've made in lineart file (no layer merge ofc), compress it down to fit with the HD portrait resolution, then start coloring and as well making the rest of expression for the said characters

there are some special case that has to be drawn uniquely like shane's drunk expression and when he's holding charlie as well

It'd be neat if an art program allowed you to restrict brushes and palletes per layer.

So like if you tried doing linework on your fill layer that you've restricted linework brushes from, it wouldn't allow it.

I draw fairly fast usually
Course my pieces aren't exactly monet (or as godly as say popplio or nae or kelturtle or nathex, etc) but I genereally don't take more than two days to draw them

For me it's partially because doing 3D modeling and related work (textures, animation, etc) means having about four or so full development programs open at once.

Maybe change the wording a bit so it's more like "[...]post any creative work you've made here! if it's related to SDV, let us know and it'll appear in #art-gallery"

I think the current description might make it somewhat ambiguous, being that it's located in a SDV server, about whether or not the art is required to always be about SDV as well, and that #art-gallery exists so that all the art that they assume must be related to SDV can be consolidated in one unbroken line.

I usually start with big shapes then work my way to the detailed, so a soft airbrush for the overall shadows and hard brush for the detailed shadows for example

then work on reflected light within these shadows

it's good to get some references if you're new at it
