Late reply but the initial early game design was more around optimizing money so I could get all my upgrades as quick as possible. The only real space planning I had was where I wanted the sheds and the warp areas. Everything else came later as I started unlocking things. Once I got the Junimos I basically took all of one of my winters redesigning and doing the path work to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I'm very happy with the results.

I calculated needing 9 silo's to last through the winter with 2 full coops and 3 full barns, but... I am not a huge fan of their placements but I am not sure where else I could place them, or maybe I should downgrade to 2 coops and 3 barns, cause I dont know if the amount of grass in front of the barns will even be enough for all them piggies

If you don't want that many silos around, you can just extract the hay and put it in a chest instead :)

Honestly I recommend everyone to get the mods that expand silo storage. Vanilla silo storage is just too little for how tall and wide it is it can't even hold at least half a chest full of hay 🤣

Forest is also very beginners friendly since it has its own hardwood stump spawning area and you can level up foraging quicker that way

@stiff musk You wanted a ping when I posted the update for my decorative farm at the end of the season.

It's coming along nicely. Will probably move around a bunch of things still as I figure out better places for the buildings/decoration but so far I'm happy. Especially proud at Grandpa's shrine.
As for my "luck" on getting two giant melons it's still being a butt fourth year in a row, maybe next summer. I will also be changing up how the crops area will be but that won't happen until I've got the last two melons.

Besides the suggestions you've gotten I will strongly suggest the use of floor dividers. It will help smooth the sharp edges of different floor tiles, here you can see what I mean.
But yeah, themed rooms is a great idea to help make an area not feel empty.

Decorations and a mixing of paths will help. I'd try and use stone floor all around and between the fish ponds, go to two tiles out from the ponds. That will add some variety with color and add to castle vibe with stone

Ginger island is like the greenhouses. You can plant any plant and it will grow no matter the season

Some make it like a gaint cash farm by planting the high sell crops there. I think bee also work year round there as well (so you can use it the honey /mead faem)

The three mini trees next to winter forage are just decorations,specifically one that changes as the seasons go,the blue one next to ancient fruit is fiber seeds,it looks blue only on winter,the pots of the three mini trees are part of the decoration,the dark Brown mini dresser is named "Walnut end table" and the Red table is named "grandmother end table"

The mini trees are seasonal plant #6, get at the Flower Dance or get all six of them at the Night Market. Blue plant is Fiber grown from seeds and all the tables are endtables able to be bought from the Furniture Catalog at Robins. You can go to the Furniture section in the wiki to see all furniture and how to get them.
