best day of my life thank you Gus for that song
i used to be super into sdv but a ton of my mods got ruined by an update so i havent found the motivation to continue playing for the past few years
my farm design fall year 2 of my perfection save! ive not finished yet i wasnt sure on what to put on the left hand side foresty bit - any advice?
Once you're kind of at the end of needing tons and tons of hardwood, you can stop the stumps growing back with a single piece of flooring on the area of each one, then put sheds or other buildings there
Here's what I did with mine
from which catalogue are your snowmen i like it
and the gem tops right corner very cute where its from?
The snowmen are one of the seasonal plants from the night market, and the crystals are because my farmer married Emily β€οΈ
preserved jar shed with ur 4 ponds in front of it
oh wow, my bf just makes me pancakes, what a greater gift rofl
me and my sister's house :)
cute bar in the kitchen
Thats cool! I've never seen someone use top left as a bedroom but it looks very nice, I might start doing that!
can someone send a design where the bed is next to the door like how speed runners do but it still looks good
i normally dont either, usually turn it into a library or put chests or furnaces or whatever but since were sharing the house we thought we ought to have our own rooms
hehe thank you!
the kitchen looks like Caroline should divorce someone and get in there
this is also my sisters first playthrough and she still sees the game without a minmaxxer mindset. like planting a few of every crops each season instead of buying the most profitable one. so she didnt even consider having chests or machines in the house
she absolutely should. also green supremacy
it looks like a tea cafe
need to get the tea set to put it in here now
I wish i could have the creative mind to design my house like that
first
second
I love this feature tbh!!
Hi
fourth
7th
bum

first
fuckin spammers
cool cool cool
YAY
Love this idea
hey
hey i'm 17th
plannin all day long
Oof

So in an attempt to say something not actually worthless, the topic says "share the plans made and discuss best ways to do X or Y.". So on top of being just general suggestions/tech support for the planner, this is the channel people would go to for, like, "how do I optimize this space on my farm" or whatever?
I would assume so, optimising is planning in a way
20th or something
21st or something
yes, both here and #stardew-spoilers are for that. I'd assume here it would come up on how someone made a plan and in stardew-valley it would come up if someone asks
@opal atlas, you just advanced to level 1259!
Saying something to be early π€π€
Yeah Iβve only got 70 hours on stardew so Iβm not sure Iβm far enough to be using a planner haha
I mean you dont need to use it to max min you can also use it for looks

The planner is such a useful tool. I am officially excite.
I mainly use it for looks and to get symmetry.
π€
I honestly just found out about the planner a couple of days ago. It's so cool!
My friend has a plan that will make him 40 mill a year
:GWnanaPepoHype:
Evening everyone! I am really happy to see you all here and thanks to the SDV team of making this possible!
I'm so far behind on all things Stardew. What's Stardew Planner?
@lament pulsar it is a website which gives you the opportunity to plan out your farm for Stardew valley, save it, share it, improve it. https://stardew.info/planner/
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
Being behind doesn't excuse not knowing about it though! It has been around 1 month less than the game, so it's nothing new
Perfect timing because I was just starting to use it for my new save π
;)
Iβll have to check it out
though right now i am entirely distracted by other people's cool layouts
Are you guys basically all end-game?
I didn't know Stardew Planner was a thing until just now.
@amber shuttle, you just advanced to level 16!
But it's pretty darn cool.
I'm trying to get a layout for the left side of the forest map. I'd like to make the entire farmable area focused on crops, but the space is so irregular-looking that it's hard to come up with a layout that uses most of the space while still having a polished, even look.
Oh! That's so cool!
I honestly haven't been doing anything Stardew related recently since my mouse died and I haven't had the time to get a replacement.
@lament pulsar, you just advanced to level 1!
I just play it with trackpad, and I'm still in year 1 in my current save, but I can finally craft sprinklers so I can make a nice crop layout hopefully
Though I'm trying to keep in mind future upgrades so I dont block myself somehow which is where the planner is helpful
I added the link to the planner to the channel topic
@gloomy pine, you just advanced to level 1205!
I want to make my current capability one and map a bit more out for the future seasons
Thanks @eager light
lol
lol
close enough
ooh
lol
Thanks for making the thing btw
this'll be fun
Strong work.
I've updated the planner site to include discord link as well so hopefully we'll get some of the users from there to lurk around here as well
And nice to meet you, hpeinar. Love your work.
@fervent flower my pleasure.
@frail salmon thank you as well. It's been a long ride with the planner
Thank you for the planner!
just took a look at the planner, this is mad cool! props to you @warm linden :)
so obviously i've promoted this too little, as people seem to find it for the first time : p
I'm new to this group, just wanted to say I think the planner looks awesome!
Wouldn't dream of being anything but.
this is one of the more well behaved servers ive seen at least for the most part
@floral adder, you just advanced to level 5!
@turbid nest we'll try to!
very nice
I had your planner pinned in the #stardew-spoilers channel like 9 months ago, and people still don't notice it most of the time lol
this channel really should help
out of curiosity
did you ever figure out what was the deal with the bee house overlay glitch on the planner?
i did not and currently do not recall what glitch would you be talking about
holding shift to place multiple bee houses in a row, many times will result in the overlay not going away until you mouse back over the bee house
oh really
not a big issue, but can be annoying if you're planning out LOTS of hives
Speaking of planning out lots of hives, if you're using the highlight to check bee house ranges, it becomes almost impossible to tell what's going on after like 3 hives overlapping each other with their highlights.
this was my last playthrough... yeah, I may like bees a little https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/6yst8v/so_i_heard_you_like_bees/
something like 2400+ bee houses lol
Highlights overlapping and stacking their highlighted-ness in general makes it hard for me to see what's happening. For stuff like scarecrows I'm not worried about how they're overlapped, just as long as all the crops get covered.
yeah it does
bzzz
because each one makes the previous just a little darker
Avoiding the stacking would help a lot, though you might need something unique to indicate the range of the thing you're currently placing down: some sort of outline first, then highlights once placed?
anywho, it's nice to have you here Hpeinar, and thank you for coding a great little tool for us to use π
@tame marten, you just advanced to level 1168!
let me just kick the code open and see if we can do anything about those beeees
I think the color choice hurts a lot too: it's a bright pale yellow that goes eye-searing once you stack like 4 (scarecrow has it too, but you'll almost never notice because farms don't usually overlap multiple scarecrows super-closely)
not if you want to be efficient π
My scarecrow farm. We grow scarecrows.
so we can post stardew planner things here and ask questions? or....?
yes
both
@tame marten the bee hive highlight glitch (when placing multiple in a row) should now be fixed. Just refresh the planner and try again if you want to test it out.
I'm thinking if i can somehow solve the stacking highlighting problem
though it's a bit more complicated probably, because of how the canvas is drawn together
I am sure I am not the only one that appreciates the highlight glitch being fixed
thanks
yeah, no problems
I'm trying to fix the stacking problem too at the moment
might have an idea how to do it, testing it out
So is this chat for farm planning in general, or is it exclusively for using the site
not exclusive, feel free to discuss all kinds of planning related things, doesn't have to do anything with the site speficially
I don't see why you couldn't
what this channel is intended to be used for can be found in #bulletin-board
Yeah I read it but was just a little confused
@patent furnace, you just advanced to level 56!
ah, well... as long as you're not talking about crazy stuff, you might be ok. when in doubt, ask a greenie, they will get it all sorted for you
well, my idea didn't work out
I'll think about if and how i could solve the stacking again tomorrow with fresh head. going to head off sleep for now, laters
What if instead of highlights, the range could be outlined on the grid?
What if there was a way to see which tiles can be tilled into farmland?
Morning!
@sweet falcon outlines will have the same problem, they'll stack and cause a mess when there's like 5 hives side-by-side. And with only outlines it's hard to understand what tiles exactly are covered with looking at multiple highlights
@warm linden, you just advanced to level 2!
How do i remove that annoying square in the middle of everything? https://i.gyazo.com/7381c60abfc862d371033ca250d81f22.jpg
you mean the discord thing
Yes, quite
No problem xD
I'll check when I get home :) It's an awesome tool. I love the feature of loading your save
i did that once
Can you save down changes and get them in your game? I just want to put out pointers so i can figure out where to put things
Chrome
and is it so even after refresh?
Yup
Now it looks fine π
good stuff
to answer your question, no
the planner does not allow saving changes back to gameSave file
to be used in the game
it would be possible to make such a feature, but so far i've chosen not to
Makes sense
firstly that feature would be prone to errors and possible bricking of people saveGame files etc,
secondly the game itself is all about figuring new things out and advancing at your pace, so I wouldn't want to make it easier for people to just spawn everything into their farm on day 1
Yeah. I agree π
there are other tools out there that can edit your save game file and planner has few features to "help" with that by allowing coordinates to be displayed etc, but that's where it stops as well
Is there a particular reason you went with a giant svg?
Dragging and dropping seems particularly buggy laggy buggy
A neat addition could be an option of spitting out the resources required for what you've created.
You mean having less references for the stuff in the SVG?
I'm not sure that in particular is causing lag for dragging and drop. Could be though.
Oh no just in general. I wondered why you went with a big SVG like this as opposed to some sort of HTML canvas element.
I'd never seen something like this done through svg.
I can't exactly remember why I stayed with SVG, but I just had made another project with SVG so I was familiar with the library and SVG in general more than with Canvas.
If I had to make one today, I'd probably take canvas as well.
Pretty neat. I'm super inexperienced with canvas so it could be a fun project to learn it.
But yeah - resource calculator based on your selections that could be spat out as like a CSV could be neat!
there is a thing that says how much of what thing you have placed
probably could just extend it to have the costs as well
i need to start using the planner it looks very nice!
It has saved me much hair pulling. It's also a fun thing to tinker with whenever you're bored but can't necessarily play SDV itself.
heh, i'm astonished how many people see it for the first time
so...can anyone pin the link?
It's in the channel description
@frail salmon, you just advanced to level 425!
its in the description
https://stardew.info/planner/ | hpeinar's place for support for planner users, discuss features / improvements and of course, share the plans made and discuss best ways to do X or Y.
I have a lot of kegs, cheese presses, mayonaise machines, truffle oil machines, and looms as well as statues of endless fortune. What else might help me out?
@woven ether, you just advanced to level 1!
Ping me with an answer
money-wise or look wise? if money wise you might want to go to #stardew-spoilers
@woven ether
Okay
Ahh
Someone mispelled coffee
I should make a coffee farm
Thanks @oak bloom
np
@frail salmon im on phone its hard to see the descriptiom
wait where did the lower pond go @hallow wasp

or do i do a new file and do the foraging farm
i am an indecisive bean tonight
guys help XD
@hallow wasp do the foraging farm
Hmmm
hmmmmmm
r/hmmm
so watcha thinking?
π
About to do a rework of my farm, I'm nearing winter year 3 and this is what I've got planned:
I won't be using the bottom space because I prefer to get profit from crops. My Greenhouse is going to be filled with mainly starfruit, gemfruit, and ancient fruit.
Thx @frail salmon
I tend to let wild forest grow in areas I'm not using. Makes things feel more natural. I also sometimes plant grass fields.
I've been meaning to do an expended beehive area on my current farm.
I like using some of the space for beehives because of how passive the income is, and all you gotta do is plant some flowers. You don't even have to waste the flowers at the end of the month, you can just pull them up and sell them. You might be able to recycle them for seeds.
Best part is how expensive the honey can be. It's nothing incredible, but for the work involved π
Yeah. They're aesthetically pleasing, low effort, and an all around win win.
Hmmmmmmmmm
just got to think about where i am going to add the fruit trees or how i am going to do them
I like the way you laid out the beehives, definitely has some creativity to it.
Is it overkill? Maybe
do i care? not one bit XD
Also thank you, honestly it was not going to turn out that way, just happened XD
Very pretty and well organized
@frail salmon, you just advanced to level 429!
I mean, if you want a decent amount of fruit in a short amount of time, that's the way to do it.
Why not winter?
Winter give the trees time to grow so that way by the time the spring starts, you'll already have fruit producing.
I believe they grow in the winter, at least.
they do apparently
@hallow wasp, you just advanced to level 4!
seing all of those really makes me think, what the hell am I gonna do to make my farm look good
seeing*
Haha, I usually worry about amassing some cash first, and then I try to pretty things up down the road when I have more options.
Yeah, I sadly just spent 500 gold on a bamboo fishing pole
and I didn't think I had one
welp
That's a waste
It happens. Fortunately no mistake can really tank the game, just slow you down a bit.
yeah
I rlly hope my pumpkins grow by the next day, and that my barn finishes
Cause the stardew valley fair
so I need mah pumpkins
Nuuu mah pumpkins didn't grow
Nothing like a prize-winning pumpkin for the fair
Yeah, I was growing 10 pumpkins, none grew in time
even though I thought I planted them just in time
I hopefully will have made about 3000 gold tonight because of all the eggplant I sold
Nice.
I just noticed that I have 30 summer seeds
I'll have to plant them after winter
Anyone know what it means when the fortune teller says you will leave good friends heartbroken? They said something would happen like that with robin and I
and I would like to stop it xD
tbh I have no idea whether the fortune teller has any effect on the actual game.
that's a great question
Ah, cause I want to be better friends with robin, so I just wanted to know if anyone knew, thanks anyways!
Is there any way to save your farm layout? If the 'save' button works, where does it save to? I haven't been able to find my file on my HDD. All I find on google is discussions about the save button not working. TIA.
TBH I don't know. I usually just save a screenshot of the image when I'm done tinkering, and email it to myself for later. So I wouldn't mind an answer to that question myself.
Thanks. That's what I do, too. I was hoping for an easier way, especially since there's a 'save' button.
Actually, instead of emailing it to myself, I save it in my browser's bookmarks.
@quasi compass, you just advanced to level 1!
I was also wondering, does anything happen if you eat too many burgers at the stardew valley fair?
I mean, anything's possible right?
Y'know, I'll test that just in case
May or may not lose money or items, but hey, it's for a cause
Yeah, why not. All in good fun.
@frail salmon, you just advanced to level 430!
yeah, I can't say anything happens, I just ate 25 burgers and nothing happened
You're the new SDV eating champion. The game should give you a trophy.
@frail salmon Thanks for the welcome. And Hello all. π
except for the 25 burgers
Hey Tamsen
but yeah, I eat more than anyone in my family
Evening @quasi compass , good to have you
Evening hpeinar. Welcome back.
Hi π
hey Zero, how are you?
Not bad! It's been a pretty peaceful Monday at work, so I've been haunting the Discord.
Yourself?
good, will do some gaming and eating, nothing big planned for tonight : p
Also, @warm linden, thanks for the awesome planner. It's fantastic.
my pleasure
Just look at him
He dont want none of your crap
I'm pretty sure that's the little boy from the start of IT
xD
Pretty good, just woke up, how about you?
pretty casual workday, code here and there, some coffee, some tea
boardgames later tonight
where the pic from?
Stardew?
I never got to having children in the game so I got no idea how that works
Yeah, it wasn't my child, it was just a child in the SDV fair
Good morning, hpeinar! Sounds like a fun day.
I just got to my office and I'm slowly waking up.
I am generally, but only after I've finished my tea. I'm usually most productive in the am.
π΅
I'm usually tired, I'll just eat a croissant or two, and just watch tv for an hour or so
And then I'm good to go
Lol, our filter blocks gaming related content for my work desktop ... but for some reason it doesn't object to the planner's domain. Hpeinar, I've definitly filled some downtime here before making imaginary farms.
In grand scheme the planner isn't really "famous" so I don't think anyone would know to block it
Yeah. Filter does catch the wiki, however. But it doesn't object to the Discord web client which is amusing.
i feel for you
i'd throw some tables if someone would start filtering what i can access or not
Haha, yeah. It's irritating sometimes but oh well.
One thing that would be cool would be if you put in the furniture accessible, and made you able to furnish your own shed or even house. I understand it might be a lot of work, but it would be great π
adding the shed / house layout isn't a problem
adding the furniture is what would take time
mostly making the sprites fit into the 2D "space" of the planner
looking at the furniture sprites, i'm not seeing a "shortcut" as well
would probably be easier to make new planner which supports same sprite dimension as the game : p
Ah, yeah xD
Morning
Morning!
can anyone help me plan my farm
so far it's kinda basic https://stardew.info/planner/calm-shrimp-4/
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
what are your goals
@warm linden, you just advanced to level 3!
or what do you need help with?
I'm looking a design for my farm (regular farm) that I can work my way to. I'd like it to be efficient but also good looking (If that isn't too hard to do). If anyone has some ideas could you ping me or dm me? Thanks
high requirements : p
Gent, you can always browse the farm upload site until you find something close to what you want and then modify it to suit you.
yeah but
i wanna build one by myself
something something "I made this so I'm proud of it"
hewwo, hewwo i have a qwestiown uwu
for the planner how do i make it look like a screenshot from the actual game and not a planner
if theres a way to do that of course
i wish i could help but i haven't done that before ):
@dim lodge there is a rendering menu on the top right which you can use for that
the purple icon
i'll give it a try next time i open it up! thanks for the tip
it only works with official layouts, so if you map is using an modded layout, it sadly is not possible
let me know if you have any more questions or issues : )
thank you so much!
oh wow i was in the wrong channel WHOOPS i thought this was stardew-valley
there are a lot of channels here, it's super easy to get lost
hehe, @turbid nest not to worry
this is a new channel indeed, maybe they should consider renaming it to just #planner :p
I didn't know about the render thing. That's awesome! Will def. try.
The planner is working in conjunction with upload.farm to provide these game-like renders.
i have a question: an two people plan one farm?
Can you elaborate?
you can make your plan, save it, give the url to a friend an he can make his edit / improvement, re-save...rinse and repeat
you can not plan a farm "at the same time" currently
thats all i want thank u β€
My farm is not supported :< I just emailed the person to get support, though
I was playing around with it
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
@tranquil shore are you the author of Immersive Farm 2?
He'd be a Pixelsmith if he did
@warm linden are you part of the group that works on upload.farm?
I am not, but i'm in close touch with the guys who are. What is up @mystic halo ?
the issue I mentioned on the Github is still an issue.
trees and other things aren't there either when i upload my map
there's a few things that are created by the Paths layer, that DO show up, like the big stumps for example.
idk, i just asked kuz there's a reply to the issue that there's been an update related to it, but I don't understand any of it.
probably due to the fact that I'm not a coder.
https://stardew.info/planner/unlucky-bulldog-58/ I make farm layout
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
Need criticism
Forgot a lightning rod
@mystic halo i've poked the upload.farm guy about the issue and he said he's gonna be around here on monday. So maybe more information about the issue then.
also regard that bug he said that it is fixed and will be pushed live on upcoming monday
Spent some time with the planner considering a master plan for the Wilderness map. It's so much fun to play with:
ooh pretty!
Looking at the render, I realized I'm missing a few pieces. But that's a start anyway. When my farms get mature I tend to focus less on actual outdoor drops quantity-wise, since the greenhouse produces steady revenue. I always want stuff to look pretty.
I was playing around with the planner too, and made this.
@modern stratus https://stardew.info/planner/ you go here...plan your farm...press save, save the link / bookmark it to load it later when you need to
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
omg
@warm linden ah ok. thank you for looking into it! π
this is just a scratch π might turn mine something like that,
the blank wood path would all be misc color tho, i'm just too lazy to do it on planner
Looks fun!

oo
@mystic halo Hey! @warm linden mentioned you were asking about the bushes rendering bug on upload.farm. I've just pushed the hotfix Sketchy wrote a couple of weeks ago to the server, apologies for the delay - I was ill!
Finally built that huge farm that I planned out last week
does marnie EVER work??
Quick question: I'm new to this planner, and was wondering if there was a way to add water tiles? or ponds? sorry if Its suuuper obvious, I just havent seen it if it's there
@Sephler#7561 actually no, this is currently not possible, as water and ponds are impossible to make in-game, they have not been added to the planner.
also hei @torpid mist, good to see you here man :)
Hey Laukei! Welcome!
@torpid mist ah ok. thank you! i wasn't really trying to pressure a fix, just wanted to understand what Sketchy's reply meant.
hope you're feeling better now!
the quality of the fruit or vegetable matters when I use it in keg?
thanks
About to create a new character to start again but can't figure out which farm I want.
@spark briar, you just advanced to level 4!
riverland is fun
i usually like hilltop, i put my barn and coop on that tiny hill right under the house because it's easy to gate as well
hey does milk quality matter for cheese like it does with mayo?
Silly question for those who know more about the planner than I do: is it possible to make it remember what you've selected for things like kegs and beehives, so that you can place several without having to select it from the drop down menu each time?
Looks good Sunny!
@frail salmon yes, hold down shift or control or cmd key when placing buildings (works with kegs as well) to duplicate them and thus not having to select it again from the menu
it's in the controls section of the planner, which you can find in the middle of the page, just below planner itself
Thanks so much, hpeinar!
Planner is down shortly for certificate renewal - done
hi
Evening
how do you get those maps/ can i make a farm lawout with a websight
nvm i fould one
The link is in the channel topic @lethal cipher
Planner is at https://stardew.info for save game renders go to https://upload.farm Mention @warm linden for planner related question and @torpid mist for upload.farm related questions.
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
I pinned ^
Topic is hard to find on mobile etc
Haha, good point.
I forget sometimes you can't see the channel topic on them mobile client.
And if people are asking then clearly there's an issue.
Pretty sure you can see it on mobile as well
It's a bit hard to find on mobile though
And it seems a bit more straightforward to check the pins to me at least
Yeah, on mobile you have to actually open the channel context menu.
I see why people have trouble.
wait how did you pin...
Pretty sure hpeinar has specific permission escalations for this channel, IzJusty
It is dedicated to his creation, after all. π
didnt think about that xD (im dumb, ok?)
that moment when you realise you may have been offensive
Lol, don't worry about it
Is there plans for a mobile app anytime soon?
@grim hamlet, you just advanced to level 1!
No, not really, I don't think it would be very usable in the mobile
Mobile is too small
yeah, I think you can still open it on the mobile though if you need to look at it while playing, but planning itself wouldn't be very convenient
Since stardew planner isn't that compatible online with my phone, or mobile at all, I drew a little plan on paper cause I finished my test early, if you have ideas on what to change, please tell me, also, my hand writing and drawing capabilities are really bad
@grim hamlet what do you mean by moving large plans? Like moving parts of your plan at once? No, it is currently not supported
https://upload.farm/1EZZH7 π ±ewwo everyone in your opinion where should i put my second shed
aw that's such a cute icon omg
hey baps :)
@oak bloom, you just advanced to level 110!
hiya yow
cool
can someone give me sum advice?
AbouT WhaT
what should i do to make my farm PRETTIER
Oh, your farm is really cute so far!
Maybe that area in the middle with the 4 fruit trees could use some walkways/flooring, or maybe a few tubs of flowers (or maybe seasonal flower plots?)
That's the first thing that stands out to me! I like that map a lot
I found this farm online and does anyone see a issue with it? Like does it need more crops or animals or stuff like that? https://stardewvalleyinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/best-stardew-valley-farm-design.png
I know the lower right corner can be filled something, which I intend to do
dont really need the slime hutch but thats not really an issue
imo the slime hutch isnt great
other than that
really sweet farm
looks amazing
@pseudo jasper you always have such good ideas omg that's a cute one... i will be sure to ADD that! i also added a shed to the bottom right of the map, in front of the small pond there. i think i should move the top 2 fruit trees from my map and put them next to all the others.
@native saddle that farm is ADORABLE i love the fireplace area with the trees π
It took me a good 2 hours to find it, but I completely agree
i'm in love with your farm! i hope u dont mind if i take a few pointers off of yours LOL
Absolutely not
And I don't want to take credit for it as I had no part in making it
they're next to the barn up top
oh oops u meant theirs idk
oh theyre next to the barns on the left
Ohhh didnt quite catch that
I love that little firepit area. That's a great idea
i updated my farm! here's my current farm. i'm going to put more beehives in the hive area. the fruit trees area is wip still, waiting for those lil guys to grow. cc is appreciated!
IT IS BEAUTY IT IS GRACE....... BUT a suggestion would be to plant some trees and grass around the pond by the slime hutch and maybe fence it all in? I feel like that could be a Look
OOH I SEE WAHT UR SAYIN THATS A REALLY GOOD IDEA!
what do u mean when u say "fence it all in"? like the entire pond/windmill area?
Just put it around the boarders yeah, it's something I like to do, makes it feel........ snug...............
i like the concept... it can be a lil slime forest hangout place for cool slime
only Cool Slimes live on my farm
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
any suggestions to fill up the empty spaces?
heres an image instead xD
@autumn spade Walkways/floors, trees, and filling gaps with grass helps a lot with making spaces more varied and interesting. If you're looking for more functional and not just aesthetic, you can fit 3x3 plots (or not-completely-5x5s) in more parts of the farm. Your bee house section could be refined a little: as-is you can only plant one flower for each.
Which maps?
@autumn spade fences and trees
i just planned out a farm in the planner and clicked the save button at the top, where can i find it after that?
ive since closed the page and cant seem to find it
@green tiger omg you shouldve copied the link...
rip...
you can open it from the history menu
oh I didn't realize thats all that did
@green tiger, you just advanced to level 1!
so pressing the save button on the top just allows you to go back to that project from the same link?
if I can get back to it through my search history that'd be great but it's no big deal otherwise, my project wasn't very complex so I could easily just recreate it if I needed to
Yeah. Hitting save generates a custom URL for that particular point, and you can save the link and come back to it. Each time you hit save it generates a new one.
Indeed so, as @frail salmon wrote. There is a user system planned at some point (so you can log in and it would automatically store your links etc) but I haven't got to it yet
The URL setup is still pretty clever. Reminds me of the password system in pre-battery Nintendo games.
It used to be more common to save info in the URL. Now everywhere wants you to register.
it was quick to implement and it solved all the problems i needed for the time being
you can share, you can bookmark and every version is "unique" so noone can mess with your plan
but still, it would be useful to have somekind of way to let the planner keep the links itself
@warm linden, you just advanced to level 4!
i think I probably should implement something super simple on localStorage first, so even if you forget to save your link, just going back to the page from the same computer will let you know your previous plans or something
I would still stick with the URL saving, unless that'd be dropped.
@sweet falcon, you just advanced to level 43!
horray
just then the planner would automaticcally remember the ones you have made / saved
it's definitely a good system, I just wasn't sure how it worked because there wasn't much of a description for the button other than that it was a "save" icon
yeah, well there is a issue with space on the planner. As the planner itself is so big there isn't really much space for other information
I have bunch of stuff on the bottom of the page, but i reckon people rarely scroll down
ohh okay that makes sense
THat looks so cool!
@woeful zenith, you just advanced to level 4!
Are images on the front of stardew.info not loading for anyone else https://gyazo.com/02a30a1b679d7b1bf2b928133d414939
yea that was happening to me too
does anyone have any suggestions on how to conserve space in the forest layout? i want to use up as much of the available farming area for crops but that really doesnt leave much space for buildings/production
they are not loading indeed
let me look what is going on
oh, my google cloud account ran out of free credits
images now load again @vagrant scaffold @green tiger
oh awesome!
@green tiger Remember you can place buildings on the grassy areas: the grassy portion between the farmhouse and greenhouse is a good place to put some stuff down if you don't mind clearing away the natural foliage. You can put buildings down in the grassy area by the hardwood, too. You might be able to do fruit trees too, IIRC. That alone gives a lot of space for sheds and animals (though grass might be a puzzle)
yeah thats true, im just not sure if i want to cover up the hardwood spawns considering that seems to be like the only benefit of the forest map over the standard map
Well, after a point, the hardwood and extra forage aren't super-fantastic. They're a huge help with getting saidhardwood and knocking out bundles earlier than you normally could, but the standard farm is probably the best if you're interested in pure farm maximization.
You could always "pave over" just one of the hardwood plots for a teeny bit more space: with some fruit trees around the other one it'd look like a cute little grove.
Plus it'd still leave spaces for the forage spawns.
yeahh, to be totally honest i only realized that you couldnt use the hoe on the grassy areas until like 30 hours into my playthrough so im kinda stuck with it now lol
What I ended up doing was putting both barns on the tillable area directly south of my house, and filled it with grass. The western, larger space is where the crops go.
@sweet falcon, you just advanced to level 44!
hmm, thats a pretty good idea
im just about to start year 2, i think for this year im going to just maximize as much farming space as possible to get the most profit now and then once i have more than enough money ill cut back on the farming and use some of the farming space for other things
I could DM you a screencap of what I got, if you'd like a better visual.
oh sure! that would be awesome
this is my current general plan
but thats once i actually get iridium sprinklers
ive only got like 3 at the moment
@warm linden thanks!
I made a rough plan for summer. Once I get further into Summer I'll definitely make some changes but this is just a base plan
I only did the first side for now
for some reason it got rid of some objects
Whatβs up with the barn and coop
Its with the program he's using. It only shows the physical parts of the thing. Yes, barn tops don't technically exist. also hello! kinda new to the server.
@vast wasp, you just advanced to level 1!
Oh! Welcome to the server @vast wasp ! Have fun and remember none of us want to steal your cabbages except for F4ith another guy on this server!
uhhh.... okey.... not goin to question what cabbage theft has to do with anything but ok
itβs a joke
leave my cabbages alone :<
sneakily runs off with all the cabbages
@frail salmon, you just advanced to level 532!
@winter dew, you just advanced to level 23!
Better Render there π
Ill post an update soon when I add in the Seasonal Immersion buildings I got in there. :3
There we go. Much better.
Sad when the planner doesnt even ask if your using mods or not. lol
Things look way different when you use mods π
the riverland farm?
sadly i dont have one because i have semi good game sense because i chose the forest farm
^ same
modded map?
Ah, the pretty map π
even then i dont have it installed nore do i have any water based map avalivle with me
Good day! - Thanks mods. ; )
yeah sorry about that
i think i actually have permissions to remove posts from here as well, but i'll leave that job to you guys :p
.
how can i save current layouts?
IMO thats a rly nice and organized farm. Mines just a huge mess of everything everywhere
how will you fill your watering can?
aside from that, not to my taste but looks nice objectively!
oh: lightning rods?
i guess you could go to the bottom part of the lower lake but thats quite a trek
also is it gonna be a pain in the butt to go that much around the animal pens when you're crossing the map north to south
would you plannerfolk like to see my current farm
it's a monument to my not having a life
:^)
heck yeah
this is mine, just finished the orchards today, fields will have to wait until winter i think
still WIP but it's getting close to "done"
I'm going to turn that extra plot into Keg City probably π€
fair enough
i might play around with pc stardew if i can get some more comfortable peripherals set up
right now it requires me to hunch over coffee table
my laptop chokes on stardew, which was disappointing
rip
@graceful zenith, you just advanced to level 5!
actually
i haven't tried running stardew since i wiped my drive to resolve an unexpected shutdown issue
i could give it another go
and TRULY ruin my life :,)
100+ mods and about 40 hours deep into this file :^)
a single gay tear rolls down my cheek
Is there a way i can post my farm on here? π i would love any tips and such!
ah! these aren't ingame farms, they're generated using the tool linked in the description
i mean, they become ingame farms ideally
but it's a planning tool
Yes i created my farm in that tool the real one is still in construction but im not sure how to get it here
ah, try the purple button to export a picture
Actually mine is an ingame farm
I used the Map Image Export mod to export a .png of it.
ohhh yes okay i was wondering about how the save mechanic didnt seem towork
@untold stone, you just advanced to level 1!
Thanks! xD
fer sure!
It messed up the map a bit i gotta fix it. But may i post it here when its done?
ofc o/
Thank you :3
you ain't need anyone's permission
Well thank you, I didnt want to post in the wrong section XD
alright i think its done, somehow some parts were suddenly missing lol
This farm i wanted a higher productability while still looking nice, i tried not to waste too much space. Tips appreciated π
intense!!
Looks great!
ty ty π
repost; is there a way to save your layouts?
@pearl sphinx in the planner? Just press the green save button on top right and then bookmark the url
Every time you save you get a new unique url of your current plan
alright, thanks
someday I'm gonna try and merge XNB mods
bc i need to learn but tonight is not that night
i wanna make my town super pretty :X
I get the gist of it, and i have photoshop, i just need to sit down and actually do it
To be fair it'd be better to convert them to ContentPatcher form (as 1.3 will break most, if not all, existing XNB mods. I can help with that/do it)
Though this isn't really a #farms-and-outfits discussion
@graceful zenith I would take a run down of how it works
I'm finding the planner more useful now that my farm has most of the buildings available
before when I was planning, there was so empty space I couldn't figure out where things would go spacially
looks super nice
I haven't gotten any giant crops yet :T
you need to leave your crops for a bit after they have fully grown
also make sure you are using either pumpkins, melons or cauliflower
I had some! but in the course of watering them i accidentally broke the 3x3 grid i had em planted in
purrhaps the solution is larger plots
nice
I refuse to run out of grass ever
this is what I made, I like it aesthetically even if I can fix my sprinkler setup which I will do later
i love your layout
That is super pretty
:o thank you~
I got bored and tried out a hilltop idea I've had.
Is it bad that i never plan out my farm
how do ppl do that? is there like a website or something?
There's a link to the website people plan their farms on in the description(is that what its called?) of this channel(hopefully Im saying that right lol)
In case you can't see it I'll copy it for you
i found it thanks. but, like, what's it for? just planning where you put stuff?
You're welcome π and yeah that's all it's for. It's a lot easier to do that than spend time in game trying to figure it out.
I used it to plan out how to plant the most hops I could with the area I sectioned off. so many hops. πΆ
Tho now i'm only working towards the museum with that save now so I'll probably never use this layout again haha. (currently in y3 winter)
@digital sparrow thats an amazing layout, with the vertical plantations
only real way it could fit with the forest's vertical layout haha
ohh
XD its winter soon i was gonna re arrange my farm but ig not
because im on the reg farm
idk if imma do another save file but
oh, reason why i did the 5x1 was cause i only had a gold can at that point and it would have needed so many sprinklers. the hops produced every day after they fully grew too so it was quite a lot of work every day. couldn't do anything but hops alll summer haha
i got impatient and razed / redid my fields at the beginning of summer instead of waiting until winter :T
It's exactly how I want it now but I missed out on a lotta crops
the blueberries....
a single tear rolls down my cheek
whatβs a stardew planner
It's a cool thing that lets you plan your farm. you can find it at https://stardew.info/planner
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
oh thank you this is really neat
No problem. If you want to discuss it, head over to #farms-and-outfits
but.. but.. this is the #farms-and-outfits
get over there
@sweet falcon, you just advanced to level 51!
I should plan my farm too
So I don't wake up
That my farm is not how I want it to be
i have that
big space for barn and coop too
i let my animals go free range
that was from a little while ago
you can't access the middle trellis crops though?
that big stump is gone and i think i expanded
ye i know
that was when i was a noob
is this the right place to ask how to get to the save files to upload my farm onto the planner or should i go to support?
which OS are you on? Windows 10?
Mac High sierra
try this: "use spotlight (command + space) then type "~/.config/StardewValley/Saves""
thank you
no problems :)
i diid it. i know it's not the prettiest farm but im loaded and it works.
Strong work!
should prob b closer to ur house
unless u got a horse stable near ur house
but looks nice
yeah i've got the stable by my house. i just wanted more open space by my house, i use it for corn and stuff in the winter. i've got mods to auto water everything so π€· it works out. i like it
CORN GROWS IN WINTER?
Nice! I often put a bunch of crops on the left too
i have a greenhouse where im growing crops this winter
I tend to like orchards near the farmhouse
You can shove several trees in thr greenhouse itself
Cool!
nooo i meant fall lol
i've got ancient fruit in my greenhouse. i had hops but i got way too many and also bored w making ale and wine so π€· i think i'm in year 4 and i have like 400k saved up so im really just dicking around at this point
THIS WAS MY FARM AT THE BEGINNING
that looks lovely
@plain apex, you just advanced to level 226!
i dont have much money left i bought an expensive sword
i think after summer of year 2 i started to have a bunch of money that i didn't know what to do with. i started out having no idea what to do and i forgot to water my spring crops the first year, and lost everything
good luck!
thanks!
@gloomy pine fruit trees?
You buy the sapling from Pierre and then just plant it, nothing much to it... they do need 1 space around the sapling to be clear to grow
same rules apply
you just need to have clear space around it
"Fruit trees can grow in the Greenhouse, in the center soil or around the border."
@gloomy pine what he hepeinar said! The wiki shows the ideal layout to maximize the # of trees:
is there any way to keep placing a machine? its kinda tiring switching to the tab and back after placing
nvm im dumb
@warm linden Any way to remove the "object count" panel that comes up when I upload a pre-existing farm? It's preventing me from editing the left side on the planner
Nevermind, found it, sorry for the ping
@kindred kernel yeah, hold shift while doing so, it'll "copy", there are other buttons available too, read the controls section below the planner :)
@autumn cloud from the options dropdown :) no worries for the ping
:O seeing symmetrical stuff pleases me
maybe you could add some decorations around grandpa's shrine
any suggestions?
looks gr8
i like it
Needs way more plants
@silver quiver, you just advanced to level 20!
anyone know who manages https://stardew.info ?
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
You are looking for @warm linden, LJ
thank you π
He checks this channel fairly often
in the mean time i see a way to import a farm is there a way to export a save that will have the changes from the planner in the save game?
I don't believe so
ok thank you π
how do I look? https://stardew.info/planner/silent-moth-52/
Plan your Stardew Valley farm! ...on a coffee break!
getting the thought I might want to move the barn off that plateau and fence in a separate grazing area for it once I get barn dwellers
you're probably gonna want another silo, it's not strictly necessary but it helps
3 silos should feed 25ish animals for a season. Should be fine for 2 animal buildings. That's not a lot of pasture for it, though.
A fourth silo could easily be fit above and left of the other 3, though, in that little corner by the stairs to the altar. Even a fifth on the right.
Your crop plots are too big for iridiums to fully water.
is there a way to use the quarry layout in stardew planner?
@pearl sphinx I don't think there is one at the moment, you mean the actually quarry from the town? You can build there? Or you mean somekind of new layout for farm
the one you unlock from the cc, yeah. i want to fill it with kegs since the regular quarry is useless unless you sleep for like 3 years
Would be possible to add, though i'm not sure how much added value it would bring
I am listening
you mean select whatever in one place
and then copy or move it to another all together?
this has been asked / suggested few times
but I haven't had time to look into it, it's not too trivial to make
isn't impossible either though
@sweet falcon I'm using a sprinkler mod so the iridiums water 7x7 instead of 5x5
Ah, I see
I've got mods for days :p
@lethal gate With 7x7s then, how do you feel about something like this? I tried to smooth it out and give some space for walkways (but Hilltop gonna hilltop and make it hard to fully encircle fields)
I think it's less crops overall, though.
If you got rid of the center stair-to-stairs path, you could move Blue Jazz and Strawberry there and make Strawberry 7x7 too.
hmm, thanks for the suggested layout
I wound up moving my barn to below the mining area and putting a slime hutch next to it
so the barn and coop each have their own grazing space
I'll do a full reconfiguration when I hit Fall
right now most of the farm space in the southern two thirds is taken up by Summer wildseeds
additionally I don't really care too much about having walking paths
anything I need to grow on a trellis either goes 12x1 in my greenhouse or 6x3 in the north part of my farm and I can harvest it with my scythe harvesting mod
I was thinking the spot immediately to the left of all this (north side of the river) would make for a decent trellis zone.
I didn't know if you cared for paths or not, I just went for it - and I don't know what you could squeeze in with the extra space without 'em.
if I can squeeze in at least a 3x3 somewhere I'll use that for whichever crop is currently in season that can produce giants
again, thanks for the prototype layout, that will definitely help
might wait to reconfigure till year 3, not sure
about 2/3 through summer 2 right now
another question
is there any way to de-plow multiple spaces at once?
another one of my mods prevents soil decay because I got sick of having to redo all my wildseed patches when those mature
Not that I'm aware of.
I'm looking on Nexus for a mod of such a thing and not seeing anything
would be cool if you could make the pickaxe deplow the way the hoe plows at higher tiers
If your soil doesn't decay, it doesn't really matter when you redesign, just whenever you have the time/energy to do it.
true
So, summer 27/28 when harvests are almost over woudl be a nice moment.
I mean, I guess the pickaxe thing'd be nice? But that's introducing a solution to a problem mostly introduced by your mod, you know?
also true
my only problem with redesigning at the end of summer is my little enclave where the chest and kegs and seed makers are
you can, using the tractor mod
I use that to process hops into hops starters (and randomly get ancient seeds) and also process hops into pale ale
the tractor mod last I knew replaces the horse, is that still the case?
What about them, though?
oh, I also have corn there and that persists into fall
the tractor mod has "area" that you can edit, you can hoe the ground in "area", sorry my english is kinda bad
and I have the Replanter mod set to automatically drop the hops in that specific location
It's kind of hard to give feedback/advice on your farm when you're introducing more and more mods as the discussion goes on.
it doesnt replace the horse, it'll make a new building that will have the tractor. you can still have the horse
glad i can help
to you too Entitas
i saw you're saying that you use mods for the sprinkler, so i thought i'll suggest the tractor mod, it can be quite op tho.. and i dont think vanilla has a feature for pickaxe aoe.. tilled soil is kinda bad when you're about to move a building or place some flooring (i think it'll interfere?)
yeah, that's the problem
if you go to https://upload.farm/ and upload your save file you'll be able to get a picture of it from the bottom of the page :)
Thanks
I'm realy lazy to cut down all the trees haha
That is my second farm
I like forrest since i got a looot of free hardwood source
I usually don't chop trees since trees fill up the empty spaces nicely and make it look nice. I only chop the ones that I have to chop for some space because then I don't ahve to wait a whole season for my trees to go in empty places if that makes sense
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with my mining farm?
Can you be a little more specific about what you're looking for?
Can I get to see image like that on swifch
unfortunately no
There is no way to capture a shot of your entire farm on the Switch
Sad
i dont have a switch, but if you can somehow take some screenshots, and move it to other os with image editing, you probably can stitch them together
ouch, that'd take a while
Yeah, in theory that would work but it would be a pain
I hope there is gonna be an update with a button βshow farmβ
Does anyone know if you can upload your farm using upload.farm if you're using a modded map type?? as i'm using the hill-top forest farm
I think my next save will have forest
I hate having to drag myself to the woods for hardwood >:T
Yeah, the forest map is really convenient. It's probably my favorite as far as cost v. benefits go
forest farm = best farm IMHO
agreed
Any farm I make is the best farm
If best suddenly equals worst then sure
Hey now. I am accurate 73.4% of the time, every time.
@frail salmon, you just advanced to level 592!
Lol
74.6% accuracy or bust
I think the forest map's benefits have some serious diminishing returns over time. It gets you to the same place faster, but then you're stuck with the lower and awkward space.
Secret forest forage is great for a bit quicker bundle check-offs, and everyone likes hardwood, but how great is that really going to be when you're in year 3? 4?
I went with the night fighting map and i just dont know what the benefit is.
Im starting again after a long hiatus.
Like a year and a half or so.
From what I understand, there really isn't one: there's not nearly enough monsters nor cool drops to be great. It's not even good combat xp.
Depends on what you mean by best.
Standard farm will let you plant the most ancient fruit, then.
Fair
@gloomy pine, you just advanced to level 1!
Yeah I agree the space is super awkward lol, I use a modded map that's similar and has the hardwood but better space xP
so I feel like this is might go best in here
in my attempt to find out why I couldn't get red cabbage at the traveling cart (1 year community center challenge), I wrote a small script that produces traveling cart menus, and decided to stick that in AWS lambda
I feel like it'd be useful for the planner
how do I get a pic of my entire farm?
Is the fact that the site doesn't save everything properly a known issue?
this site is a good place for that, @daring niche https://upload.farm/
There's also a mod that's a bit better if you want to take the time for that
y u no collect
it's not fully grown yet π
Soon
