Hello. I seem to have lost a stardew months worth of game play; and all the save files including _old just revert me back to spring 13 when I am supposed to be summer 12 or more. My computer had to be restarted because the game had been running for so long 😬 it’s a windows computer, I don’t use mods i don’t think? I'm playing on switch but sometimes when i want to place multiple items at once (for example kegs or fences) the cursor will follow my movement and i can spawn them consecutively, but sometimes that doesn't happen and i have to move the cursor myself (undoable with a joycon stick), can i fix this?

tried a bunch of things after scouring all the Reddit threads. removed mods entirely and tried to host a new game as well, but didn't work. changed the host on the original save file and sent it to her. apparently she can make a new game and host, but I have a lot of lag on my end, so I need to be the host.

It's normally created on first launch. There's something on your PC preventing it from installing correctly. One option is to try and boot in safe mode and run it that way

I know it says changing the name of your saving but it should work in the same way as changing your pet's name

I havent downloaded anything. in fact since i thought that maybe i had downloaded something that was conflicting with it i clean wiped my entire laptop. so all i had downloaded besides the standard apps that come with it were steam, stardew, and Chrome since i prefer it to safari

I posted this on reddit but I figured it'd be better to post here. I've been playing Stardew multiplayer with several friends for a few weeks now. We'd just finished the community center but the cutscene won't trigger that completes it. It turns out the host hadn't ever started the questline (hadn't even examined the first bundle to meet the wizard). Are we stuck? There's no more bundles left.

Just to clarify, right now the door to the wizard's tower is locked for the host.

@stark nymph usually in the game files for each character, an old one and a recent one is automatically saved. When I checked the last date that the files had been edited, the ‘old’ one had been modified right after I left the game last whereas the ‘normal’ ones were saved a while ago

If we have the same issue, something I also noticed was that when I went to load my game, the details on screen were right but when I clicked on to go into my world, the time was wrong

It's more likely an issue with the underlying framework used to make co-op possible, from my understanding, if all else fails. But different types of connections can cause issues, as well as anti-viruses, VPNs, etc

A couple days ago I opened my game and

a file i'd deleted since was there again (when i try to delete it it always comes back, but not a huge deal)
a file i'd created after i deleted the above file was set back about a day (not a huge deal, just strange)
and the most worrying thing:
my main file was set back almost two in game weeks, during which i'd completed community center bundles, redone my house and farm, and built two or three buildings.
I waited a bit to see if it would fix itself, but nothing's changed. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Go to Stardew Valley in your Steam Library. Right click, and go to 'Properties'. In the new window go to the 2nd tab, 'Updates' and uncheck the "Steam Cloud" option.

If you've been having this issue and can reliable reproduce conditions under while a player disconnects, that would be really helpful. Unfortunately it seems that most people are experiencing disconnects at random which makes it a very difficult bug to track down

@hexed apex - yeah, turning off steam cloud seems to be the fix for this. i wonder though, if some of these reports have to do with people having multiple steam accounts on one machine -- SDV just blindly uploads the entire save folder up to the cloud, so if you have two steam accounts people playing on the same computer, it can cause all sorts of issues with syncing and saves reverting

Hi guys. I'm playing on android mobile version and having trouble placing down the tea set onto surfaces. I managed to do this before, months ago, and remembered it was extremely fiddly. Accidentally removed it today and forgotten how to place it back down. Can anyone help?

@hexed apex if you have both integrated and gpu graphics, try switching which one you use. You may have to adjust optimization settings as well
@upbeat marlin No, mobile will most likely not receive co-op
@sturdy chasm I believe that's normal at times, but you can report it if you like

@thin folio tap the item in your toolbar and it should show a grid. Tap on the table where you want to place it after that

@tribal nacelle The grid does not appear for the tea set. I can place any other decorative item down but the tea set. I remember it was something fiddly like having to hold down the button or something... I tried the method where you have to walk right up to the surface and place it, still not working.

If you're running ChromeOS, don't buy Stardew on Steam, that version is for Window, macOS, and Linux. ChromeOS only supports Android apps, so you should be able to purchase Stardew through the google play store, but I'm not how well that version of the game supports chromebooks as it's designed for Android phones first.

Well I know a lot of people install Linux on chromebooks, which would give you an OS that can run steam and the PC version of Stardew. So that might be worth looking into :)

I'm having a major issue. I've made lots of progress throughout the days, however it is not saving. Yes, I am able to begin a new day (i think) though when i close the game and return, all of my items, buildings, quests etc are back to where i started no matter how much i completed. It's really frustrating and I'm unable to figure out why. Yes, I have a terrible laptop that crashes, and as does SMAPI, frequently, but this shouldn't be happening. I'm really upset, and I'd like to play the game that I paid for.

Hi, downloaded Stardew Valley from Steam (installed from Ubuntu Software, currently on Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS) and I'm unable to launch the game. When I click play, it'll try launching the game and looking at the task manager, the process will run for a few seconds and disappears. Is there a workaround for this? I also can't seem to add a desktop icon too.

@stone wraith had this same problem and was unable to fix it. I couldn’t play the game unless I got a new computer. About a year later I got a new one and was able to play. I tried even deleting the game off my hard drive and all of its files and nothing worked.

Hi, so recently my friend who is our multiplayer host has been having some issue with the game. More or less the game completely freezes/crashes at random. She'll be mining, crafting, opening a chest, or even cut scenes. There seems to be no connection to when the crash happens. Some of them even freeze up the whole computer.

She reinstalled everything and now it just seems to be freezing for 30 sec then resuming

Game seems to be using around 2 GB RAM which compared to mine is about 3x as much RAM as my computer uses (PC) but not sure what else could be causing this.

The issue I have is: I would like to stop spouses from randomly changing wallpaper and flooring.

My proposed solution is this (I would like to know for certain if this works):

All random spouse behavior, including the "spouse looking pissed off and staying in bed" thing, appears to be random and not predetermined.

So you can exit and reload the save and it'll most likely return to the default stand-in-the-kitchen thing.

From information I've gathered that the randomly changing wallpaper and flooring fits into this category of behavior.

#

So the solution would be, once you talk to your spouse and get the dialogue of "do you like it honey?" or something like that, just exit and reload.

#

And the wallpaper should be returned.

#

It'd be easier in most cases, but I kind of play games in a very abnormal/not-casual way.

For instance, I spent a total of 16 real life hours decorating the house, which is considerable effort.

To reload the save once is next to nothing compared to that.

Well, I'll just assume I'm right. I'm making a problem out of nothing anyways. I'll just wait until it happens again and test reloading for myself. The only really infuriating thing would be if they change it and mention nothing in their dialogue, however I think there's substantial evidence that they always mention it in their dialogue if they change something.

It's good that at the very least the behavior is random and not predetermined like a lot of other things in the game.

Hi, I'm hoping someone could help me with a problem I'm having regarding use of SVE. After installing the mod and all of its necessary components, it becomes impossible to go into Pierre's shop without the game crashing. It shows what looks like the floor for a brief second before CTD-ing. Does anyone have any input on this?

@wooden depot - The RAM usage is nominal. The mac client has an additional underlying component called Mono, which is required for the code SDV is written in, to run on Mac. And as with any program there could be a large amount of reasons for the crash to occur. Is this only when shes hosting a multiplayer game?

so... I had a couple of issues. I tried to set up a coop game for me and my gf and we got some problems because she has a laptop with two graphics cards and one of them (the integrated one from intel) couldn't run the game. She had to disable it but she lost the HDMI output. Is there any way to fix it other than disabling the intel card?

second problem is this happened while we tried to sleep to pass the day in multiplayer (this happened only in my end, her game kept running smooth and fine) and the game stuck on loading and SMAPI log showed this:

If it's only one specific person you are having issues connecting to, it's likely something with one or both of your internet connections, not the game

So i cant make a new farm at all on single or multiplayer. Ive unistalled, reinstalled, cleared out all files manually, trouble shooted, and tried running as admin and nothing working.

Double check to make sure you don't have excess liquid or moisture on the touchpad for starters. This can cause it to be thrown off. That's been my experience with laptops.

Just this one, checked with downgraded synaptics drivers but nothing changes. It feels like game window is losing mouse focus and i need this first click or longer hold to get back mouse focus on the game window. I tried both full screen and windowed.

For example if i want to accept choice in conversation menu on the gamepad mode i need to doubleclick on mouse1 or touchapd

If you're using an external mouse and it operates normally, that's more of an indication something is damaged on the touchpad, or some other software is interfering.

Theres a bug (at least on the switch) where if you quickly go upwards, you can pass through any fence.. Like if I press the up button and then immediately go towards my fence it’ll act like an open gate that i can just pass through

if you have steam synch active you might have to create a new folder so the steam synch doesnt look at it, go "oh hey i have a more recent file! and overwrite it

looks like you're missing the savegame info file, shouldve remembered that exists

on an unrelated note, ever since updating to 1.4 (in mid-march, was tragically computer-less for a couple months), i've had an issue with the hats
the old vanilla hats show up without problem, but the new ones don't have an icon.
(also all my modded json hats dont show up either but that's not a here issue. might be linked?)

Hey all amazing people, I've fucked up.. A while ago I tried my hand at modding the game and had loads of fun doing it, but I've done fucked up and now the game won't even launch because of a missing excecutable that steam won't tell me what is. I was a fool and decided to uninstall everything by literally dumping all of my game files in the garbage and just thinking that it would fix everything, as in no more mods. But now with SMAPI uninstalled and having tried to delete every folder related to the game on my computer and then re-installing, as well as having verified my game files then uninstalling the game on steam and redownloading, it just doesn't work. The game won't launch and I can't seem to figure out what in the world could be causing it, would someone please help me? I have backed up my saves in a seperate folder to possibly get them back, but at this point I'm willing to let go of all previous work, just so I can play the game again. If anyone has any idea of what i might have fucked up and how i might fix it please help, because currently my only option seems to be completely uninstalling Steam and loosing several hundreds of hours of work in other games, but at this point I really am considering it just so I can get to play the game again. Please help!
