What's the problem?

It's okay, i'll send the post I made: Hey! So, I've had this weird problem for a while.

Every time I try to connect to someone else's farm, I can connect through the game (the code and steam comes up with "connection failed" immediately and doesn't even give me character select) and select "Farmer 1". I then get to a black screen with the "loading" in the bottom left-hand corner. It stays like that for like 2 minutes, before telling me that "the server has closed the connection". This is not the case. When my friends try to join me, they just get stuck on the same black loading screen.

I have verified game files, uninstalled and reinstalled several times, tried almost all solutions presented to me with nothing. I have copied my boyfriend's working files over into my steam folder. I am able to connect to the internet perfectly fine, so this is not the internet's fault. I have also tried this on my steam account on two completely different computers. I had the exact same issue on that computer.

I am running the latest version of windows: Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763.

Any tips or assistance appreciated. I have tried so many things.

Not yet. I suspect it's a networking issue though. Their logs above show they disconnected on the host side after 30 seconds, which sounds like a timeout.

Can you try the SMAPI installer again, and post a new screenshot?

If you have the option, make sure you choose 'download' instead of 'run' or 'open' when downloading it. Then unzip it (not in your game folder), and run the install on Windows file.

Yep, seems to be an issue with the networking between you and the other player. There are all sorts of things it could be, so Hamachi is probably the easiest solution.

Hello there, I've been having a issue with my Stardew Valley on steam ever since I got my new computer. I try to start the game and it basically starts up and closes instantly, I've been looking around on the forums and steam discussions but I found nothing that worked for me so far. I have been reinstalling the game and steam itself, I tried installing all things needed for the game XNA and things alike, I have verified game files and I have made sure I have a audio device plugged. The only thing I can think of that I might have to try again is the audio things since I have a wireless headset and I don't know if that might cause some issues. Sorry if my English ins't the best since it's not my first language, I hope I can find some help here. Thanks in advance 😄

This is just an idea, might not work, but what you could try is uninstall stardew valley and steam, power off the computer, power the computer back on, and reinstall the game and steam.

Stardew Valley 1.3.36 was released recently, so updating to the latest SMAPI from https://smapi.io should fix that. You may need to update your mods too; the SMAPI console will show update alerts in purple, and you can check https://mods.smapi.io to know which mods have updates or alternatives.

from the readme notepad

Unzip "internal/windows-install.dat" (on Windows) or "internal/unix-install.dat" (on Linux/Mac).
You can change '.dat' to '.zip', it's just a normal zip file renamed to prevent confusion.
Copy the files from the folder you just unzipped into your game folder. The
StardewModdingAPI.exe file should be right next to the game's executable.

You might need to temporarily disable your antivirus, then redownload SMAPI 2.11. Since it's a very new release, antiviruses don't trust it yet.

And some antivirus apps like to quietly delete files without telling you.

That's fine; you can ignore the 1.3.1 update since it's broken. Just keep an eye on that message to know when 1.3.2 is available.

No idea. Since you have SMAPI, you can retrieve a daily backup from save-backups in your game folder though.

Doesn't sound like you got the right backup. SMAPI backs up all of your saves once per day, so you should have a backup from today, yesterday, etc.

Can someone help me? It seems like the recent version of SMAPI ( 2.11) isn't compatible with SDV? - The game crashed the first time so I uninstalled whatever version of SMAPI I had and installed 2.11. then it runs but once i pick a saved file and wait for the game to load, it just freezes. I play on PC / Steam and after verifying files, SMAPI is the only thing stopping the game from working it seems

Try reinstalling Mono to fix that: https://www.mono-project.com/download/stable/. The recent MacOS update seems to break Mono for some reason.

Looks like you're trying to run it from your desktop, but the game is installed to C:\Users\<your name>\OneDrive\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley instead.
