SVE's latest update temporarily made a new NPC named Hank that broke a pre-existing mod due to not using a unqiue NPC name, so they released an update to remove that NPC and fix it. You will get a warning in the log about a villager named Hank being removed, which you can ignore. If your can't open your save, reinstall SMAPI to get Error Handler back.

[#5891] "Lag/stutter is unfortunately very hard to diagnose. There are a few potential causes:

1. Background processes on your computer (ex. my game lags/stutters horribly when my computer changes from light to dark theme at nightfall)
2. Garbage collection in the game/game framework.
3. Certain functions within the game can cause lag/stutter (ex. forage spawn at specific times, screenshot triggering)
4. Certain mods are more likely to cause lag/stutter, and may have config options to reduce them. (ex. seasonal outfit-type mods, FTM mods with many monsters spawning)
5. Certain computer setups may experience more lag.

In terms of fixes, by cause above:

1. You can try viewing Task Manager/Activity Monitor while the game is running to identify problematic background processes, and/or close other apps.
2. Difficult to address as a user. Ameise has been trying to track this down but it has been proving elusive.
3. See if the lag occurs at a consistent time and try to find mods that add a change at those times.
4. Ask if there are config options for the mods you suspect. For ex., FTM (reduce monster spawn limit), DSV (use lightweight version), and Automate all have config options.
5. If you have an Nvidia GPU, try typing .q 5755 in #governors-mansion for some possible settings to try. On Windows, you may also try things with setting SDV/SMAPI to specific cores or priority levels?" - @stable wasp (07 Mar 2022 @ 06:07:07 PM UTC)
