Basically, anytime you change your JA mods you can risk a shuffle. If you have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order as your friends, your new items should be okay, but old items may be affected. You can sell or trash the old items, and spawn in new ones if needed with CJB item spawner.

If you're installing SMAPI on MacOS and you're getting Operation not permitted: internal, you need to grant Terminal full disk access permissions in System Preferences. Go to Security and Privacy, then the Privacy tab, then scroll down to the folder titled "Full Disk Access". Clicking the lock to make changes, then the plus button to add Terminal.

On Steam: In your library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas > then "compatibility" under the dropdown.
