It can be confusing the first time, because to be able to choose a mastery, you need the newly displayed xp bar to be filled(in the skills tab of you character), while you can enter the door when it is empty. So nothing will probably happen if you go there right away.

10% chance from shaking trees, you can get them from Volcano Chests, if you are on console, you cant trafe for them as there is a bug that doesnt allow shops to expand

Island Trader, ||Raccoon Shop, Bookseller|| are the ones ive seen affected by this bug, idk about pierre with his stocklist, but his shop expands into year 2s shop just fine.
The ||Bookseller, only has 1 book thats locked out due to this bug, Queen Of Sauce Cookbook, however every other book, including the ones for the Well Read Achieve can be gathered through other means||
AFAIK the ||Raccoon Shop doesnt sell anything exclusive||
