Yes, absolutely worthwhile. I didn't really start going at all the hedges and such until about 11am, but I still got over 500 fabric and 200 moss, as well as 50 fiddlehead ferns which'll sell for just shy of 5k- a very tidy chunk of change for me as I've been very aggressive with my spending. I managed a lap around Cindersnap Forest and a short trip in and out of the Lost Woods, but I'd wager you could easily clean off your farm and get into the mountains as well if you focused purely on taking your scythe to the invasive foliage
I also got around 30 of the flower and wild seeds each for my trouble

Moss will continue to appear on trees after the green rain. But take full advantage of the first green rain and collect as much as possible as well as fiber.
Which mastery should I unlock first? I kind of want the trinkets, especially the quiver, for better skull cavern exploration. But the farming one sounds fantastic too.

They are going to help you get more xp for mastery

If your goal is Skull Cavern runs, then mining, and if your main method to spend your time is the Skull Cavern, then I'd personally go combat next instead. My choice of trinket was the fairy, since getting a passive health regen was super helpful.

I was trying to plan a Y1 Desert Festival run but using Remixed Bundles. Not sure if anyone else has looked into it, but I don't think you can guarantee success because depending on what you get, you might not be able to complete four bundles to unlock the Vault one in time.

did more testing and this is what I got. On left side is advanced iridium rod and what I caught with it and on right side training rod and all loot I got with it
I tried very hard to make sure I don't mix them up
on the previous attempt it looked like training rod was catching way more joja cola than any other trash and this still seems to happen here but this time it also caught 4 pieces of driftwood
and no cave jelly
with advanced iridium rod I got a sequence that looked like this -> fish from mountain lake -(transition to floor 100> jelly -> trash -> jelly -> trash
and this was done with the exact same luck buff of +8 (5 from mrc, 1 from ginger ale and 2 from 2 lucky rings I'm wearing)

Training rod can catch white algae in sewers, witch's swamp, mutant bug lair and most likely other locations (I know I'm forgetting something) except caves.
For mineshaft- training rod is unable to get green algae, white algae and cave jelly. Also something I noticed while testing how much cave jelly I will get with advanced iridium rod in a set amount of casts on floors 20, 60 and 100 with +7 luck buff, I've noticed that I got WAY more cave jelly on floor 100 than any other floor (5 from floor 100, 0 from floor 60 and 1 from floor 20 (in 20 casts that didn't get fish)), it's likely that floor 100 has higher base chance of getting jelly/luck buff affects it way more than any other floor or both

I feel I could have had a bigger oak farm maybe, once again. Maybe a shed full of crystalariums with diamonds could have been good. I think it takes 5 days to be ready once again. The fact that you do not need anything to fill them is a big plus as the production chain is very simple compared to anything else.

I did not rush GI farming very much, I may have been faster. Since I did not have enough kegs, I did not feel the urge for it. Maybe I should sell gold quality starfruits more and make more preserve jars as you can build them with money only, while kegs require oak resin which always ends up being a bottleneck.

It's good for high-volume, low-value crops like blueberries, cranberries, mushrooms, and pre-Botanist blackberries. You don't want to dry your more expensive fruits, as those are still best made into wine, or even jellies.

There are two ways to measure income. Overall gold, and gold per day. Jars have a higher gold per day rate than kegs. So I use kegs for my more expensive fruits, like starfruit and ancient fruit, and things like strawberries get made into jelly.
