Moss is really hard to get until green rain (the world's trees don't count as being old enough to grow Moss at the start of the game)

And 10 hardwood apiece is also costly when you need hundreds for important stuff (Willy's boat, Raccoon house, Stable, your own house, even Cheese Presses)

you don't really need a specific dagger build because iridium needle is busted now

just forge it 3 times with aquamarine and you have a pretty good crit chance that should be enough for most uses

Eh - I find that going down that branch with a sword seems to crit fairly often, especially in the mines with bulk enemies where speed is useful

I need speed boosts that don't require wasting time on combat.

I might kill something if I'm cornered, but that's about it.

if you would've been planting ancient fruit then iridium scythe is obviously much better in both game-time and real-time because of how much more you harvest

I'd be curious what the actual time results are - I feel like you might save some time on the walking because you have a much wider harvest range so you need less steps to harvest. Planting is still going to be faster/easier to do in bulk lines, just running up and down.

My tutorial on the subject:
If you're keeping your soul and not selling it by going the Joja route, there's a method for getting autopetters, and it involves doing Skull Cavern runs in a certain way.
Max your luck by whatever means you can. Lucky Rings, 2 if you have them, Lucky Lunches and Ginger Ale, preferably Qi-seasoned. Magic Rock Candy is great.
Take at least half a stack of staircases. You don't have to do ALL of these, but you really should go on a Best Luck day (the "shower you with luck" quote on TV).
Then staircase past everything except treasure rooms. Don't stop for ores, don't stop for mobs, don't stop for nothin' except treasure rooms. I've gotten as many as three autopetters in one run this way, and two on several occasions.
If you don't get any, you can restart the day and you'll get different drops trying again. The point is to max the chances of getting a treasure room. It doesn't increase the odds of getting anything in particular, but it maximizes your chances of getting an autopetter by sheer number of treasure rooms.

I had 11 treasure rooms in the first 99 floors on my last run.

And got three autopetters in two runs, using ginger ale and MRC. And I only went as long as one MRC lasted, so from between 6:30 and 7 am and 4:30 and 5 pm. Then TP home to do my farm chores.

Also, two lucky rings. I'd been waiting for those to do a treasure room run, and just got them.

No. I combined both of mine with Iridium Bands.
This is how I do my rings:
I use double Iridium Band/Lucky rings for everyday use and mining. For mob farming I use Iridium Band/Burglar and Iridium Band/Napalm. The Napalm ring is a helluva lot of fun. For radioactive ore farming I use double Iridium Band/Glowstone for 4x magnetism.
The Iridium Band is the perfect base to combine with everything. I like using two of them in my combos for 2x magnetism, 2x light, and 2x the combat bonus.
But for first-time general purposes where you don't want to swap out rings, I'd recommend Iridium/Lucky and Iridium/Burglar.

Most of it was advice for new farmers. Why not to clear-cut your farm. Why you want your animals to eat grass. What to plant before the egg festival to help you out.

I saved the Dragonscale Shoes I got from the Volcano just in case I got this. Normally I wouldn't bother with Defense, but since I don't have Mermaid or the shards for Cinderclown yet, I figured this combo would at least be better than the +4/+4 space boots I currently have.

The only other trinket I have is the parrot egg (one level 2 and one level 3).

Yeah it really depends on if you’re actively fighting stuff

Because sure the parrot can be ok but it’s not amazing, you aren’t getting cash you couldn’t otherwise by spending the same time in the mines mining iridium or radioactive ore

Basilisk paw is situational but decently useful for cases where there are lots of debuffs, the danger mines, maybe volcano

Super Cucumbers start biting at 6PM. They're worth more than Sturgeons so in the summer, you might wanna make the trip to the beach at around 5:30 or so, to get there in time

They're all pretty tough to catch, especially for a beginner. Once you have Fishing Lv6, Willy sells the Iridium pole, and this has an equipment slot for Tackle. I recommend the Trap Bobber, it's a big help against anything that puts up a real fight. Like these guys do.

There is still value in fishing elsewhere or at other times (e.g. specific fish that cooking recipes require, Community Center bundles, Help Wanted quests, etc). This is just where I'd go for earlygame profit.

Desert Festival, year 3, day 1. Got lucky with Jaz as one of the townie vendors. Staircased down to level 275 to max out daily egg points with Gil, winning 500 eggs and 1 MRC. Used 300 eggs to buy another from Jas. Still have more than enough to buy a third MRC from the merchant if one pops up in their rotating stock.
2 MRCs with a possibility of a third in one festival is the best I can get this time around. I'd go for 275 floors again, but I'm low on staircases now.
Maybe next year.
