If this is Year 1, I recommend playing the Green Rain day twice.
Once to visit all the townies and see what they have to say about it (especially Demetrius and Leah in contrast to the rest of the town and each other).
Then reset the day and play through it again, trying to collect as much loot as you can (wood, fiber, moss, mossy seeds, and the occasional fiddlehead)

During the green rain, for Leah you need to have at least 2 hearts with her so you can meet her inside her cottage.
Others townies are easy to meet if I'm not mistaken, even Sebastian.

It kinda can't do this to dodge mod fests nor mod birthdays, as you might end up with so many that there are no valid days left for it to happen

I suppose a mod might be able to make it dodge dates you specify, but I feel like specifying too many could narrow its valid range down and make it too predictable

The dehydrator is weaker than the jar and keg, but works insanely fast (5 items overnight). It's a very useful tool if you use it properly.

some other fishes you can "forage" on the beach, like Clam, Cockle, oyster, mussle, Sea urchin, coral reef

which is affected by the forage profession, and there is a profession called "botanist", where you get iridium quality item when foraged

so you get iridium quality fish that you "forage" on the beach with that profession

Crab potting on the beach farm is slightly useful in that if you want saltwater crab pot catches otherwise, you have to schlep it all the way to the actual beach to get them

So the beach farm has easier access to lobster for bisque

Freshwater catches become the problem; the beach farm does have a freshwater pond, but it uniquely has a higher crab pot trash rate

I tried putting crab pots in cindersap but kept forgetting to collect from them. It kept being an issue until I put crab pots into the river on the Ginger Island farm

Crab Pots give such a low amount of experience compared to just catching fish, and it stinks dealing with a huge amount of them unless you're already at level 10 fishing so you can either skip reloading them or get better returns from them and hopefully have a source of bait. Putting them on corners is also awkward when trying to harvest and reload them en-masse so I recommend long stretches of flat shoreline. You can invest in the perk that makes them take copper instead of iron but buying them mid game might be easier.

well it gives the upgraded iridium rod which let's you use 2 bobers so using like a food buff with say +4 fishing on top of already lv10 then using 2 cork bobers increases the size a lot to help catch things that said it will still be hard, and I use the better bait willy sells too

If one of the racers is the snail, don't bet on it (it's a snail, it rarely wins)
So if the snail is one of the day's racers... Sabotage one of the others and bet on the last one

also, golden mystery boxes themselves will never drop from digging artifact spots

you'd need to get 3 mystery boxes from artifact spots (11.25% with best daily luck, not affected by luck stat) and trade with the raccoon for 1 golden mystery box

it could be viable for getting them if you have a lot of treasure totems i guess

i'd just prefer to get them passively by other means, like monster drops

find an infested floor 41-69, use monster musk and burglar's ring, pop a magic rock candy and go ham

The point of dst if you're playing for the first time is to survive winter, which can take some tries based on luck and afterwards summer which is even harder and takes more tries. Basically survive and live through the bosses. And base building ofc, gotta love base building and gathering resources.

back then it was winter, so farming doesn't seems to make sense to me, i mostly fish for money, and also Dungeon diving

so i was going to go fishing > combat > mining, but people here told me to get farming

so i put farming 2nd

otherwise it is all the same, except for foraging, that goes last

But looking at your logic it would make more sense to go to the easy stuff first

I like the ice rod. Frozen enemies cannot be knocked back, so you can easily crush an aerial enemy.
The fairy box is particularly useful once you understand how the fairy healing works (it rewards frequent light combat more than intermittent intense bursts of combat)

I haven't used the quiver, but worry that its knockback will interfere with trying to actually dispatch an enemy.
I haven't used the frog egg, but its "kills" don't count as kills nor produce loot. Which is really really bad if it swallows a rare enemy (prismatic slime, star-antenna slime)

I haven't used the golden spur, but have found a 10sec duration one. I've heard good things about it from people who build for crits.

I bring both the ice rod and fairy box with me, and swap between them depending on my health situation

what just happened to my game , the game said my ostrich egg is ready to hatch but the barn is full. Fine, i sold a cow, later come back in and then the egg just gone, checked the animal tab, no new ostrichs added

this game is great at finding new ways to make me feel like i am losing my mind

from taro root/ rice harvested too near the water source, so it bounces into the character sprite, and then into the water instead, or the equivalent of that but iridium ore/ prismatic shards dropped too near the lava in volcano, so it get deleted

When you cast your line, every possible thing you can hook is added to a list and then shuffled like a deck of cards. Each thing on the list also has a percentage change to succeed to snag your hook.
Legendaries are always at the top of the list and their hook success chance ignores targeted bait.

Your hook starts at the top of the list and goes down in order, trying to snag each thing and doing a success/fail roll. Targeted bait allows your hook to ignore the first thing or two it hooks if it is not the target. If it hooks nothing, it will try the list one more time.

The Legend 2 lives in the mountain lake where there are quite a few other things you can hook

Trash is always at the bottom of the list and guaranteed to succeed its hook chance, so that's one less chance to hook your legend 2 no matter what

So the hook chance ("spawn rate) effect is ignored and the "homing" thing is unlikely to take effect because it's already always at the top of the list

The only way targeted bait can help you increase your odds of catching the legendary is if no other fish successfully bites the hook on the first pass (so the trash success can be skipped) and it loops back to the top for another pass.

With the number of other things catchable in the mountain lake... This isn't that probable.

The effect exists and with Preserving you can pull more Legend IIs than you sacrifice for the bait... But not to a very good extent

Contrast the Lava Eel, which has almost nothing else in the caldera with it. Try the eel, skip trash, try the eel, skip trash, try the eel one more time and then you hook the trash

No carps or bass or other idiots in the list to snag your hook except the funny painting, which has a very low hook rate anyway
