I'd have expected them to just become the winter tree shape but with the autumn color palete and no snow

They still revert in the spring. (They might spawn a mossy seed into the soil and that can grow into a "true" mutant tree though)

The way to level foraging now is to clearcut trees in the valley. Green rain is even meant to help with this

EXP books remain costly even when you're "mostly" rich

Waiting until you're "truly" rich, you'll probably have maxed your skills already anyway

Here's one more. Once it's set up, it's passive-- but the setup itself is something to do while you wait for wine, jades/stairs, or lucky days.

Set up a tapper grove of Mystic Trees with Mushroom Logs woven between them. The Quarry is good for this; other good places are the Railroad, the Desert, some parts of Ginger Island, and even the Farm if you have a lot of spare space.
Mystic Syrup sells for 1000 (or I think 1500 with Tapper), and the shrooms can be dried (Botanist doesn't work on shroom logs so Tapper is actually a valid choice)

Regular tappers finish producing syrup in about a week. Heavy Tappers do it in 3-4 days. Shroom logs finish in 4 days, minus a day if it rains

Mystic Syrup also has a ridiculously large health&energy heal value so you could keep some for that purpose.

Or trade it for Fairy Dust for weird purposes

also the statue should go higher

the gems i'm not sure, gems aren't really that great unless it's the valuable ones like diamons and prismatic shards, or jade i guess

golden treasures are very nothing and the challenge bait sucks pretty bad, it's only worth for the rod that allows to use two tackles at once but then that's used for fishing only

my ideas for the masteries:
-farming: the scythe should be enchantable in the forge, why can't it fr
and moss should be easier to get for the statue. and the statue should also give us different options similar to the dwarf statue instead of just giving a random one

-foraging: perhaps treasure totems should be nerfed fr

-fishing: challenge bait doesn't have to completely lose the fish, that's very annoying and make it straight up unusable on harder fish, making it practically a regular bait if we lose all the fish is still enough of a punishment, also there should be delay for losing fish so we don't just lose them all in the slightest movement. and this isn't for mastery but greatly affects the bait aswell which is the fact that most of the time treasures cost us perfection since it spawns so far away from the bar so pls improve treasures.
And talking about treasures i think golden treasures could be better if they spawned along regular treasures instead of replacing them, making us able to get two treasures in one catch

-Combat: add more trinkets and improve the current ones, like making the frog actually drop loot, quiver and rod not hitting enemies under walls or lava/water?
improve the anvil, maybe it could do more than just with trinkets?
make the forge cheaper
