As far as I know, iridium fish don't spawn naturally and you can only catch iridium quality fish by:

• Perfect-Catching a fish that was spawned as golden
• Using a quality bobber for gold >> iridium, or two quality bobbers for silver >> gold >> iridium

I messaged you about this on the wiki already but just in case you don't check there often, no, this isn't true. I confirmed it by using a ton of Crab Pots with Wild Bait, exactly 0 of them gave me double items (probability of happening randomly would be <0.000001). Don't worry, I thought the exact same thing when I saw that code until I tested it in game. I think CA probably intended for that line of code to give players a 25% chance to yield double items, so it's likely just a bug anyways.

And as for the chance of junk, it only halves the base trash chance (from 20% to 10% in most areas). There is a second trash chance (which stays fixed) when the game attempts to produce a crab pot item but fails to (happens around 20% of the time). So the chance of junk actually only decreases to around 30% from 38%.

for anyone who has a slime hutch: I double fenced off the slimes (no gates) to be on the right side of the hutch, just to prevent the swarming (they can't harm me but it's annoying). I moved the original slime egg incubator to the fenced in area and added another, I'll never use them as I have plenty of slimes in there now. But today I loaded up the game and checked the hutch, there were two slimes in the upper left corner near where the original incubator had been. The next day there were four, 3 males and 1 female, coincidentally the exact number of eggs and the exact genders I hatched via that incubator. The number seems to have stabilized at 4 outside of the fence but I'll know after playing some more in game days. My question: is there a way to prevent those spawns? I'd like to have the left side as a sitting area and slime-free.

the fast processing time is great for when you don't have the kegs/jars to process all your fruits because they take a long time

dehydrator takes 5 fruit so it's great to use it all up quick!

when a slime of a color is generated it randomly picks the color within a range as long as its purple

this is purple (R151/G49/B181)

this count as purple too (R255/G30/B255)

as does this (R170/G30/B220)

slimes can also be lighter or darker, more/less opaque I think?

not 100% sure on that one

tl;dr, use the color picker tool from paint on a purple slime and it'll spit out a color that's roughly purple

if it's dark or bright enough it may or may not be considered a black/grey/white on top of whatever color it is
