I'm saying that xp should also matter is some way after getting all mastery, because xp is just literally less and less rewarding the more you get of it and then an instant sheer cliff into obscurity
not to mention all the new books added for xp
like it's just such a weird reward curve
i do respect that they changed up existing recipes to use new stuff, like speed gro using moss. that shows a strong effort for making things feel interconnected instead of new content only being in new places
You've reached the pinnacle, though. You've literally mastered the craft and there is nothing left to learn.
but you need a cut off for xp and new stuff at some point, or the game just goes on forever
yeaah thanks
Does luck influence trinkets when you reforge them?
They have value as gifts and trade-ins, I believe
Several townies have custom reactions to specific books
reaching the pinnacle should feel more and more rewarding when you reach the top. but instead you are putting in lots of effort to get the mastery that you left for last because it mattered to you the least... so now after achieving the pinnacle it's just a reward feeling that kinda fizzles out
and then also throws away a knew skill you tried perfecting like getting more xp
I feel like this is the extrinsic vs intrinsic concept again but I am definitely not good at explaining that one
I would imagine that most casual players would take quite a while to reach mastery, and it would therefore feel like a proper cutoff. But if you know the most efficient ways to gain xp that is gonna feel like the rewards just abrupbtly stop
I appreciate that mastery gives me some extra mid-late game benefits and that I don't have to minmax the xp gains at all since pretty much everything I do counts. I am a more casual player though.
what abruptly stops imo is the importance of xp, the rewards just fizzle out
You get xp just by playing the game. Once you've gotten to level 10 in all skills, mastery just occurs as you play.
i just like
if 1.5 and 1.6 content were added in one singular update, the heavy tapper would've totally been from foraging mastery rather than from mr. qi
and i'd like to see rewards remixed based around the methods you obtain them
methods being special orders, qi gems, book powers, mastery claims, and professions
also it is beyond absurd to me that CA made it even HARDER to level up foraging, like genuinely I love the dude and the game so much but seriously what was he thinking???
heavy tapper from mastery would be so cool like seriously
by that logic, it's better now, because xp is even more important in the 1.6 update. Before xp stopped being relevant after you reached 10 in each skill
I think this is an article about what I mentioned but I don't have time to read it (I should really peel myself away from Discord, I have stuff I should be doing). But if you want to read it, here.
yeah but it reached a very satistfying ending point of you reaching a new profession
i feel that hoppers fit mastery more than qi, and i feel that the art o' crabbin has no business being a book when theres an entire fishing profession no one uses
that is the end of my schpeil.
if anyone agrees or at the very least doesnt think im crazy for feeling a little Off about mastery and books, then... thank you
the content added was fantastic, but the new capabilities added were, i feel not placed in suitable and fitting spots as opposed to where they could be
You're definitely right, I would have appreciated more being moved from the walnut room to mastery
yeah professions are also terribly unbalanced, like so many of them are just objectively bad choices that I don't understand why they were added
less damage from bombs? just a book from the dwarf, instead of being a trinket or something
I don't think a chance for double fish from crab pots would make anyone use those proffesions
ultimately my gameplay experience is not compromised, but its still a feeling of "the game could've probably put these together more elegantly"
I just had a thought the other day that being awarded key to the town for completing the CC would make much more sense than some random trophy
OH THATS SO TRUE
DAMNNN
THAT'D LITERALLY BE SO
you get me..
THAT WOULD ACTUALLY MAKE THE JOJA ROUTE WORSE THAN CC TOO
morris just lets you pay an extra morbillion gold for the key
I wish there were a pierres missing stock list for joja mart
because in cc pierre gets to be open all days but now clint is closed on friday, but in joja once you get the key then both pierre AND clint are open all week
and you also get to keep the store that is open for longer AND get to buy autopetters
like gameplaywise joja route is just way better for the player
god.. so true
ive really kept a lot of my like, critiques pent up, because i didnt think anyone else was really in the mood to. and i dont wanna start like, hating on the update or anything, but i just... its a passion of mine to think of other ways things couldve been done
I LOVE game design
@nocturne timber You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels and share images in all channels!
joja route on š
congrates
im capitalist scum but im capitalist scum with my auto petter
YEAH!
imo trash bear should always be available from the secret woods or from within the sewers and once you finish it the chances of catching trash from fishing is reduced and from crab pots is SIGNIFICANTLY reduced, reduced to like 5% even
my family wont play monopoly with me tho so maybe i capitalist scummed too hard
but like... the linus quest (and trash compactors)
If you want no trash from crab pots we have a skill for that
and then once trash is out of the way from crab pots maybe the profession from it can actually be something else that would make it useful
Kinda suspect Jojacorp is just dumping garbage into the river from upstream
how about... instead of pirate, no trash
that's a waste of a skill because even then crabbing is still awful
so both fishing paths have a no trash skill
if it was something else in addition to there already being less trash then maybe it would actually be a choice
Cast the training rod into the mines and crash the game
but no rn there is absolutely 0 incentive to go with trapping profession
back to back perfect luck days and lucky blessing from the statue
nvm 100% lava eel, no jelly, 100% fish nvm
Oh, I've had a reason to use it before
lies
catch... cheese
replace trapper (lvl5) with like,
"crab pots and fish ponds have a chance to produce double!"
and I just built my statue to the dwarf king so now iām gonna be drowning in some iridium
If someone else has Angler in co-op, it is pointless for anyone else to have it.
So Mariner instead gives us a very increased lobster rate for bisque
fish ponds getting a buff from the other profession branch makes way too much sense
Same for Artisan. Highest multiplier among players online is used when shipping goods. So a co-op player can use Agriculturist
and then lvl 10 options would be to either make crab pots not produce junk or to make fish ponds produce non-roe special items more often
i think cooked stuff selling for more would be a cool farming level 10 option, for if you go down ranching
if weāre taking level 10 options, mining mastery just makes it so thereās only 1 branch in mining ore
either animals produce faster or cooked goods sell for XX% more, as rancher lvl10
and as farmer lvl10, either crops grow faster or... ig a nerfed artisan lol?
Artisan used to be 50%
like the fact mastery gives you both the miner trait and geologist or whatever itās called is wild
It's already been nerfed and was intentionally left still OP because it became a Stardew Tradition by that point
i think "artisan" encompasses a bit too many things, like its really funny that the best way they buffed fishing is... making it have an artisan good (smoked fish)
want to buff something? let the player turn it into an artisan good
in fact why dont we uh, let people turn artifacts into artisan goods i think that'd be good
I think it might make a kind of sense that some skills are only desirable in co-op. The game's about community after all
thats quite a fair point
...
the game is about communism. i mean, why else would i be giving gifts to people and doing help wanted requests?
And overthrowing a capitalist overlord
and then creating our own capitalistic empire
can i just say big shoutouts to CA for adding moss soup?
the natural cycle
Yeah you can
really makes me feel at home, eating moss
was clay farming fixed ??
Yup
He's_Out_Of_Line_But_He's_Right.gif
you can turn it on at the start of a file with old rng toggled
Need a beverage with your meal. Here, have a cool refreshing glass of mayonnaise
hell yeah
duck. duck mayonnaise.
i wonder if mayo is actually a good bet for scavern runs. i know cheese n goat cheese always was...
eh its not QUITE as good as cheese but
considering how much more chickens i have than cows/goats...
how do i even find clay now š i need like 300 to build stuff
get to ginger island
but unironically uh, i... honestly just got enough clay from finding artifact spots
just get unlucky and dont find any artifacts, shrimple as that
The earlygame push for a silo is a problem. After that, I kind of had just exactly enough for necessities until GI (which I expect to reach within a week or two)
cheese gives more energy at once and has more health per gold value (than mayo)
i think the mystery boxes should have a chance to give you mayonnaise
meadowlands farm should give you a free silo
eh i think that'd be a bit much
It's already weird that they have fresh premade meals
its already 2 free chickens
Sorry for ping, missed the Off button
Max level parrot + dust spirits is OP
2 free chickens and 15 free hay at that
well thats why mr. qi is the explanation for them. anything thats very silly and videogamey is where the trump card of qi is pulled, which i find quite based
yeah true, might be a bit overpowered
meadowlands is really nice earlygame
the only part of meadowlands that sucks is i HAVE TOO MANY IDEAS FOR DIRECTIONS TO TAKE MY DECORATING !!
I had to buy hay from Marnie for my Beach playthrough since I still had no silo to even generate hay. (I built the coop because I got sick of waiting for clay, and sure enough it rained)
its got too many good spots for my house to be, too many good spots for a barn to be, too many good spots for my greenhouse to be
that im so indecisive
i could probably spend like 20 hours in the stardew planner website on just the meadowlands farm
Yeah i am loving meadowlands farm, its the perfect balance of being easy to work with and providing a bit of a challenge for design
yeah! and the blue grass is so pretty
like idc that much about the extra friendship from it, the PRETTYness of the blue grass is the big win
and now what else do we have? pretty blue tree (mystic tree)
Blue grass and blue chickens and blue jojacola and
oh wait
meadowlands optimal farm for joja decor confirmed
theres a prize ticket behind this balloon if nobodys found it yet
Thats no coincidence
wonder what was going on in CAs mind when he made green rain
its really an experience
Oh dang, so you only need to earn one from quests to get the summer fruit sapling, as this is the second ticket to get there
imagine if green rain stopped happening if you did the joja route. or worse, turned into actual acid rain
joja rain
green rain helped so much with getting the blessing statue
blue rain (real)
thatās just normal rain
The townies' reactions, especially Demetrius' and Leah's compared to everyone else's. That was good shit
source?
Carbonated rain
ah i see
i loved seeing emilys reaction , so fitting
died of laughter on year 2 interacting with vincent just to see "Vincent is covered in moss"
where's a good area to plant a tree farm before the green rain, other than the train platform area?
Just plant them haphazardly on unused areas of the farm I guess
Since the best thing to do with the trees is cut them anyway
already done
Hm. Soily areas of Cindersap and the Backwoods and maybe Robin's front yard?
I'll hit the quarry, I guess, and then toss them around dirt areas of cindersap
yeah
moss and wood both
will trees grow right next to each other in the green rain? Or in general, come to think of it?
eventually, I end up flooring the quarry and making it a keg farm, usually
What should I get as 2nd mastery after farming
I like combat to open up the trinket slot, although the anvil and forge aren't so easy to use early
Combat seems good actually since trinkets seem rly useful and the parrot from what I saw is pretty broken op
the max possible level of the parrot depends on your total gold earned, so earlier on it's not going to make much
I do not believe so. They generally can't (a tree cannot reach full size if another full-size tree is already in one of the 8 adjacent tiles), and I do not think Green Rain can override that
oh also, can someone without farming mastery use the Iridium Scythe? (Multiplayer)
is there any way for me to get the lucky lunch recipe if i missed it or am i cooked
that's interesting, at about 2 million gold I assume I can only get like a lvl 1 parrot then?
Queen of Sauce Cookbook teaches every missing QoS recipe at once
the bookseller sells the recipes book starting in year 3, but other than that it's just waiting for it to come around on TV again
Reach the walnut room and the bookseller can carry it in y1
i don't even have ginger yet
actually, at that point I think it's either max or near max possible
Then eh. Get there first
I think the reruns prioritise recipes you missed.
yeah but i missed a ton of recipes
oh lol nice
the power of ancient fruit greenhouses
nice š
2.25M unlocks the max parrot level (4), I think?
nothing to do then except watch TV everyday. You should anyways to know what the day's luck is, and weather during the summer to know when the green rain is coming
Also to pick the best times to upgrade your watering can
Clint needs two overnights. If you finish watering today and hand it in when rain is forecasted, the rain will water your crops on the day you can't
Do pets have to be 1:1 w pet bowls or can they share
It says they get upset without their own, so probably 1:1
Not even everyday tho right, just wednesdays and sundays
Wednesdays for reruns and sunday for the normal preset dates
What do you guys think is the worst mastery?
Foraging seems meh but I only have farming rn
ice rod is just sooo good
i've also gotten magic quiver and hungry frog
haven't really seen the other ones, are they any good?
I tend to use the Golden Spur
Parrot gives you money on kill
From what I saw with a high level parrot and some mob farming you can get like 100k per day
damn
oh wow I'll have to try that. Like I assume you'd use monster musk, but are there any other tips? Locations etc?
i'm thinking maybe the floors with dust sprites since so many spawn
or maybe the purple slimes
since they drop so many small slimes
I think the guy in the vid I watched literally went in lvl 1 normal mines
But dust sprites seem good
idk if parrot gold scales with the hp of the enemy u killed
Based on the description on the wiki, it doesn't seem like it does
Summons a level X parrot companion, who grants you a Y chance to find gold coins when slaying monsters.
I've come to like cutting down dangerous mummies with a crusader weapon. Also get the burglar/java ring if you can.
so I'm not sure if this is new to the game, but it's new to me and i'm curious. How long has it been since walking past a flute block with an amethyst makes a guitar sound? and are there any other instrument changes with flute or drum block?
it could be this is old as heck and i've just never played with note blocks... I just did it randomly and WHOA WTH reaction happened lol
I think that is new
Just checked it out on the wiki, and it looks like it was added with 1.6!
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Flute_Block#History
wha.... okay so i pulled up the wiki on my phone first, and the page doesn't load the special sounds section
and then doesn't load anything below the gifting section
yeah i have it on computer now. I looked at phone while ingame lol
oh makes sense lol. I do the same
i was just crossing the room headed to bed and "strum". WHAT made THAT noise?!
ooooh i could put the mermaid song in my house?
hm trees didn't sprout up next to each other in the green rain, but I'm still pleased with the results
I had a similar reaction when I was wearing the cinderclown shoes and I was like "where is that jingling noise coming from??"
lol at least i'd read about that one
best strategy to grind for bats?
pretend you're the joker
pffffff
would it be dumb to rush caldera on the first ginger visit
on the one hand, I did. On the other hand, I didn't make it
guys i need tips its the last day of the quest ive killed so little
are you using monster musk?
i think you have to hope for one of those levels where it fogs up??? and extra flying mobs spawn
and yeah monster musk
i dont have it unlocked š
all I can say is find floors the elevator reaches and just do them looking for bats, don't bother with ladders, just pop in, look around, kill if found, do any swarms if they happen, get back on the vator
its joever for me
ima do frost bats cuz floor 31 is the dark levels
Galaxy sword is needed imo but I mean its always ok if you have enough health potions or food
Also depends on how skilled you are at combat & or anxiety levels
Generally it's better to have stuff with extra defense while starting out. The mobs can be a little strong
Not super hard if youāre really good at blocking attacks though.
like could i just pull up with a lucky lunch iridium pick and galaxy sword and do it in a day
Does lucky lunch even do anything in there
oh right
If you start out early-ish in the day, yes. I also recommend a drink that increases your speed (espresso or coffee)
i forgot
yeah that too i'll just camp outside the volcano
wait how do you not run out of water again
i forgot'
Isn't there a water point right by the entrance
There's a refill station once you enter and at the midpoint
is that really enough? i remember there being a ton of lava to bridge over
DAWG the only time i get tons of dust sprites is when im not looking for themmm
im not finishing this bat quest
how leveled up is your watering can?
iridium
nvm i got 4 on one level ive been gifted hope
You should be fine then. I use maybe a fifth of the water getting to the next station
*with an iridium watering can
oh
i remember there being a segment where i had to bridge over a giant lava ocean
might've been a treasure chest though
The only thing I can think of is (spoiler: the steps to get the golden walnuts just in case) ||going to the left of the entrance by the first water station|| to get to golden walnuts. It recent memory that's the most I've used in one go
im pretty sure it was a treasure chest then
i don't remember that place taking much water to get to
challenge bait with the skip fishing minigame mod is so overpowered š
just catching dozens of super cucumbers lmfao
where r u fishing where super cucumbers are that common
I need to scream about this somewhere!
what master should i choose first
I completed the greenhouse and ended up fixing the huge tree stump (using 100 hard wood) and-
Oh my god. This is so, so, so, so, so, cute.
A raccoon moved in.

Alright, I wasn't sure if it was required
would you like a spoiler? lol
Go ahead!
Didn't expect it to be a raccoon and I'm super glad, 'cause I love them so much haha
yes it is
oh my god babies
the junimo catalogue is so freakin' good
farmhouse is simply become the forest
how do you get the catalogue?
i got it at the night market on the last day
I see
i can tell the cozy house people are gonna go crazy over the new furniture
i so am LOL
i have no idea what i'm gonna do with myself with the new farmhouse upgrades either
so much space to make silly decorations
i just make everything look like a gamer den so the im mostly interested in the trash catalogue
shane is babygirl coded
Winter fishing result with Sturgeon Bait. (I've cropped out one Perch caught in the river with regular bait-- I saw bubbles while I was passing by).
26 catches, 16 of which were Sturgeons. Not bad...
Saw bubbles near the shore on the mountain too, which is why some of the Sturgeons are silver. At least I hooked them very quickly
emily did me dirty
it's slightly different right now but I had that sent here so it was easier
junimo + wiz catalogue go so well together
Can you actually pay your way to completion?
There is now pay to win option for perfection
I feel like I should attempt that in my joja farm, really feed into the capitalism
First batch of Starfruit Wine for this farm. Let's goooooo
if only you could still scam Pierre
Ooh, thanks for the reminder, I got the maple bear secret note and forgot about it. Need to include the Bear's Knowledge trip in my plans for the next day
does challenge bait count towards fish caught for demetrius's "biome balance" special order, can't find anything on the wiki on either page
it does
Wow. Get that finished comically fast then
I just got a 2nd prismatic frog egg š© I want to reroll it to try and get a colour I don't have yet, but also the thought of rerolling it hurts lmao
alright cool i will not bother with this quest until i get like 1000 more xp and get my 3rd mastery
Give it to Sebastian just so it's off your hands (he loves frogs)
i don't really lol i just skull cavern all the time
idk what else would be worth like foraging is definitely gonna be last
And just catch the biome balance fish normally
hmm yeah
Tempting but I want to collect every colour first (and I'm already max hearts with him haha)
i kinda like the new fishing festivals, it gives me more of a reason to fish lol
Don't forget, fashion is the true endgame
that is a very fancy hat
arrrg
Isn't there a thing you can only do with a Pirate-related clothing item equipped?
...Such as that hat?
My character is already end game then
I just need to forge the boots and she's done, cute and simple
OR
THE HIGH SEAS CALL TO ALL

What do u think is the best mastery to take first
If you have a lot of animals, also Farming. The animal crackers make them give double items
If neither is the case, you might pick something else first
Like, in my case I only have one barn and one coop and it's winter so I have barely any crops. So I might not pick Farming first
So basically if you play the game lol
I went with mining first cus I was intrigued by the double gems
The Mining statue is probably a bigger deal with the +1 Ore bonus it can sometimes offer
+1 ore per node is such a good buff
God, finally got Qi's room unlocked
the mining statue is expensive to craft early
probably the best one unless you're doing a megabomb festival on SC
It's such a pain š
That too but sometimes I forget
well it's not like you can anyway
I always forget to touch my statues
Fun fact: If you have the 50% fish bonus, 40% artisan bonus, and perfect catch legend/legend II with challenger bait 25 times, you can then smoke them for the 7 million needed for perfection waivers to bypass the clock and obelisks
Make the statues sleep in bed with you so you won't forget (by your bed, that is)
I have all my statues sitting side to side on the cubby
The statue of the dwarf king is very easy to craft by the time you get it
It's just 100 iridium ore
Child's play in many advanced SC runs
I totally farm in the winter. I mean, we have powdermelon now, but I'll also do a mess of fiber seeds and a recurring crop of winter forageables, use em to craft more winter seeds, repeat
not only are you guaranteed to pass by them, you don't forget about them lmao
Your spouse, in bed: "Ah, yes. Me, the farmer I married, and the dwarf statue they sleep with."
I got farming in winter too, but mostly because I already started in GI
LOL I need to make that meme š
it's just you and me and you and me and your friend steve
I wonder what went into CA's mind when he thought of the statue of blessings recipe
Same
yeah, I have my bed lined up with my television, blessing statue, mining statue, and statue of perfection so far. Hop out of bed, hit em all
I think the dwarf statue should require 99 bars
"What if we had them save up years of sap for this fun thing"
I have the moss. I'll probably get the fiber via Fiber Plants holding my soil from winter to spring
The statue of blessings and the dwarf statue are unlocked at roughly the same time but the former statue is monumentally harder to get
Years? I thought you could just tap Mahogany trees for sap every day? how much does it give?
advanced SC runs are probably well past the point where many players are wondering if they should get the mastery. Earlier than that, the statue is costly.
I didn't know that
Tbf I think the statue of blessing is way better than the mining one
its also a lot of moss
Yeah it is
90% of my sap supply is from slimes lmao
itās really not
how long is an SC day
I'm usually max skills and working on mastery by the time I reach skull cav, so I won't have that many iridium bars that fast, and if I do I probably have some other things I need to do with it first
Wdym?
like irl time
the biggest problem I had with it was getting fiber, and even then fiber seeds exist
game time in skull cav runs slower
It is
+1 luck and +0.5 speed go extremely hard
i forget how much buff duration i need to last a full run
Frfrfr
I think I also have more than 999 sap already from clearcutting the valley three times
youāre not using an abundance of moss, probably have a bunch of sap and stone from just playing the game normally
Only really like the ore buff from mining...
Did you mean you disagree about the statue being harder to get or that they're both unlocked at the same time
1 game hour in skull cav is 54 seconds instead of 43
ah ty
I disagree with it being āmonumentallyā harder
...I'm in y1 and I don't know how you have problems with sap
Depends on how much hoarding you do...
cut more trees idk
yeah, I always have a ton of sap pretty quickly. It's moss that takes me a bit to resolve
Like, I'm still short the fiber but I know I'm planning to grow a lot at the end of winter
like the dwarf king statue, thatās what, 100 iridium ore? not a bunch, so itās easier
999 sap, 999 stone, 999 fiber and 333 moss vs. 100 iridium ore
One is obtained through months of hoarding
...the other is 1 SC run
See the difference?
wowow
3-8
what are you doing to where youāre needing to use 999 sap or stone so consistently where itās so much harder to get
@nova beacon You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels and share images in all channels!
yay
one costs resources most players passively accrue, the other requires doing content the general playerbase finds difficult and doesn't typically do until later into a playthrough
seriously, where many people are asking about what mastery to take, 100 iridium is still quite a cost
I never said that you're gonna use the resources for something else
Just saying about how many resources you need to craft vs the other
It takes like 100+ mahogany trees for that in a day
yeah but those resources are extremely abundant and youāre not using constantly, so theyāre hoarded
a lot of the ppl asking about mastery are also probably new players lured in by the 1.6 update
yep
like youāre cutting down a lot of trees to get wood (if not buying from robin), and then you get the sap and unless youāre mass producing fertilizer, then you have no need for that sap and it sits in a chest
significant progress in skull cav is quite a cost
I tried fishing in the submarine to make money this year. Did catch an iridium blobfish, that was fun... getting 50 seaweed every time, not so much.
I still have well over 2k sap in less than one year, so... I don't know what to say about that.
I also sold a lot of sap on day 1 to afford the Fiberglass fishing pole on day 2, so it's not like I was super hoarding
by extension, moss grows on said trees youāre cutting, so youāre getting both sap and moss simultaneously
stone you get from clearing out your farm, mining, quarry, or buying so thatās squared away
as I said earlier, only fiber is the real issue, but once again, fiber seeds
feels like you've jumped the fence. Your argument was that the iridium was easier, now you're saying the blessing statue stuff is easy
no
which it is
iām saying itās not as hard as people are saying
Clearcutting the valley is how you're supposed to get Foraging EXP, especially with Green Rain spotlighting that particular activity now, and... you get a gazillion sap that way
but you were humble bragging that getting the dwarf statue early was easy
well that's true anyways
I mean, I dont know about yall, but I already had all the materials for the statue before I unlocked the Farming Mastery, and I didnāt even know it was that expensive
when did I do that
Apparently we play VERY differently
yeah, cutting down trees is great early forage xp
100 iridium ore is quicker and easier to get than the materials for the blessing statue. Definitely easier to get dwarf king statue
almost me, needed like 400 more fiber as I got farming mastery
Wild seeds are garbage for training it now which didn't affect me because I barely used them
when did you do what?
I level up foraging by clearing the farm, collecting hardwood, green Rain, and mass forage ables
?
Why?
Yeah fair. I mean I also couldnāt craft it right away since I blew 100 on the flute blocks for the Ginger island mermaid
Wild seeds are only worth 2 exp now
Wait really?
Green rain and shroom logs/boxes are meant to shore up the loss it brings
That is kinda dumb
Because foraging really shouldn't just be farming
100 iridium ore is nothing
Berry bushes now also give EXP
Nifty
I regret nothing
Real
That means I leveled foraging the hard way
If you use fiber seeds to get enough fiber for the statue, you need to use around 142-249 tiles of fiber seeds
Assuming one harvest
Not to mention you have to craft each one
...Hilariously my plan for Winter to Spring will involve something like four times this.
You can fit like 4 in the winter
I always use wild seeds early on. Especially now that they're combination farm and forage xp
1.6 really is a beautiful thing
Ye
dwarf statue not even that expensive
Fr
which npc buys artifacts
With that and only 1 stardrop tea you can get a villager from 0 to 10 hearts in a week
pain
how? On a birthday, stardrop tea maxes at 3 hearts
Sorry, I mean you do other things, but no more than 1 tea
you can give birthday gift on top of the tea
still how
okay so a very specific week
stardrop tea doesnāt count for gift limits
The Dwarf Statue was quite literally the easiest mastery item for me to craft.
I had to grind iron & copper for the furnaces & anvil, I had to un-earth all the seeds I planted to make mystic trees, I was reluctant to use my dragon teeth for the forge instead of the obelisk, and Fishing was my last Mastery
Ive given Alex like 3 teas in one day, idk what you mean lmfao
3 gold loved gifts, loved movie and snack, talk each day, stardrop tea, maybe one or two other things I forgot
i think fishing gonna be my next mastery
They mean I said my method only needs 1
the claim was "only 1 stardrop tea"
oh
Also, the triple hearts on their birthdays is insane. 2 teas and a loved gift on a bachelor(ette)ās birthday, and you can date them even if its the first time you ever talked to them
2500 pts from 0 to 10 hearts
960 from iridium loved birthday gift, 750 from tea on birthday. That leaves 790pts to max.
+240 from two non-birthday gifts, as long as the birthday is Tuesday or later., and then +10 at the end of the week for giving two gifts in the week
+140 from talking to them every day for 7 days.
400 pts left. Movies?
how do u get 960 from an iridium loved birthday gift o.0
Did you include book 10% bonus?
oh right iridum
Totally forgot
thanks, that's where I was headed. But doesn't the birthday bonus only apply once?
Nope
2100pts so far, so that's an extra 210.
190 left. One movie?
Or two if there's none they love but still has one they like
If you give two teas to an npc on their birthday, that is an instant 6 hearts
Pretty sure you have a max of one per week
But 55 extra from loved snack
I might do this for Kent
So in a week you can go from barely knowing them to marrying them
its 2500 friendship for max hearts
+154 talking x7
+1056 birthday iridium loved gift
+825 birthday stardrop tea
+264 iridium loved gift
+11 giving two gifts
+220 movie theater
+55 movie snack
= 2585
hm I have no-one left to test this on
checks out I guess
Just give 10 teas to the same NPC and get max hearts in one day smh my head
10 teas is hard though
i could honestly test it once i unlock the movie theatre
Plus my method is more easily used on every npc
I already did
It only runs into issues with Bachelors I think, because it would require more coordination
more realistically just giving 2 teas and a gift on their birthday is probably what most ppl will do
the bachelors are the only ones left at 0 hearts rn
you don't even need a 2nd tea if they're a romanceable npc
i don't want to waste my only tea anyway
The issue with them is that I think friendship pauses at 10 hearts before the bouquet
8*
pauses at 8 if you're not dating
Theoretically, if you play on remix bundles, complete the Helperās Bundle, get the tea from the ticket booth, and its Raining on Haleyās birthday, that would be like a marriage world record
tea + gift gets you to 7.5
you're almost certainly going to have 1 heart for most npcs if just from festivals
Could you get married by the first dance?
potentially doable for haley
Blade moment
Yes cause the wedding always happens 3 days after you propose
When is her birthday? Preferably week day as well
coconuts are conveniently her favorite gift
How would you get coconuts?
How would you get there before the first dance?
through the bus?
Is there an item id for a keg? Raccoons need a broccoli juice, but my kegs are still full, and I'm too lazy to make another one š
I mean what money making method
fishing mostly
You need 42.5K at best 2 days before her birthday
Also worried request will change by Winter
week 2 vault completion's not particularly unrealistic
It might be possible but how realistic is it for most people

well I'm in the middle of doing it right now and I'm not even that good at fishing
someone who's a way better fisher than me could probably do it earlier
I need to test this out, pretty sure I am a good fisher
I regret buying iridium rod
There is not
Yeah, probably won't help a lot
I'm like a few thousand short on the 14th
Damn imagine crafting the blessing statue during winter
if I didn't buy the rod i'd definitely have vault by yesterday
Moss shortage be like
my pathing was also pretty bad
there should be evil fertilizer which makes crops go down in grade, stopping at base so you get more of them for stuff like dehydration, preservation and kegging
also I'm doing CC path so I had to do a bunch of less optimal things for bundles
I agree, most might not
if you do a hybrid CC + joja approach, ppl have finished all the community upgrades by.. the 13th I think it was?
So. You want GMO crops
gmo is genetically modified, which is something I did not say
I said evil fertilizer
That was in fact the joke
void fertilizer
Do you happen to have a reference video?
10 sap and a void egg for 5?
1.6 really made fruit cave the superior choice didn't it
oh shot i picked mushroom cave
both are redundant by endgame
mushroom cave does have a free dehydrator
both provide different advantages
True but fruit cave is better for longer
so?
i don't even know what the fruit cave is like
and as emperor of the dehydrator empire, I say dehydrators very good. The pipeline is Strawberries, Blueberries, then Cranberries
Blueberries being the best dehydrator crop
I use starfruit personally
since youāre always getting more blueberries per harvest
dehydrator still works wonderfully though
mostly I just pick mushrooms for the foraging xp though
fruit cave's usefulness also gets dimnished a lot if you do daily quests though
CA for sure gave it that to compensate for Mushroom Logs existing
I really only used my fruit cave for oranges to fast friendship the GOAT Gus
mushroom cave's pretty bad for mushrooms yeah
But I honestly think Fruit is better for early as well if you go CC route
thankfully i don't care about the mushrooms at all
is it worth dehydrating ancient fruit?
dehydrators are best for multi harvest berries
if you have more fruit than kegs/jars
since you need 5 per dehydration
dehydrator's basically for bulk processing
Strawberries, Blueberries and Cranberries are the Dehydratorās best friends
Dehydrator also serves as a way to increase money from mushrooms and for the raisins for Junimo Huts
you can jar mushrooms
Does the mushroom cave now give foraging XP?
5 each iirc
Wrong message but same question
so 30 xp every 3 days
I need to refresh on how XP works
chopping a tree down gives 12 xp for reference
its 2.5 trees
5/12 a tree to be specific
its not a lot, but foraging always ends up being my last skill for mastery unlock so i hate it
5/13 if you include the stump
How do you level foraging after combat?
?
Combat is so slow to level
kill more things
I mean, ngl the Iridium scythe kinda makes the Junimo huts let worth it. You can now do a better job than them, and you have to spend the extra time feeding them just for the chance of getting a double harvest on some crops
Not with raisins
raisins provide you 20% more crops
also would it really be a stardew farm without a junimo hut
Though I still have no interest in Junimos
its too bad so many of the farm layouts can't even make full use a of a jumino hut
I have literally never made a Junimo hut
and that ginger island exists and is better for crops
and you can't place a hut in the greenhouse or GI
Ive never cared enough about late game farming to get them
Ah yeah that's true didn't think of that then again I didnāt use Junimo Huts yet
I guess they can be worth on a Standard farm with like full crops
@frosty coral You leveled up to Cowpoke. You can now speak in our voice channels and share images in all channels!
awesome
Not even. With that many crops, itāll take the Junimos even more time to do their jobs when you could do it for them in less than a game hour
ok damn they suck then
Guess they make for nice outdoor deco tho
Yep
they were good for me on switch 1.5 when my entire left side of my farm was ancient fruit, i didnt have to harvest every week
but i cant see many applications outside of that
Oh yeah, before 1.6, Junimo huts were great
I would argue they are mostly just beneficial if you are farming hops
yea, they are definetly best with regrowing crops that have short regrowth time
less of a chore
but if you are only running 2 crops batches a season, probably not
With the iridium scythe, you can harvest like 15 crops with one swing, and its basically free to obtain
im on meadowlands farm this time, so i probably wont invest into them
On a completely unrelated note, this is still one of my favorites things about this update
i do like it, wish i could figure out a clever spot for it on my farm, or even a use
what's a time estimate for how long it'd take on ginger to establish a farm obelisk and get 15 dragon teeth?
from arrival
welp i love the bait maker and fish smoker and the extended family quest
15 teeth depends a lot on luck stat, burglar ring, monster musk
and the monster compedeum
right
Legend 2 bait is broken infinite money
what?? how do you get that
ohh its a cabin
noice
You can't get more than 1 legendary fish per save now
Assuming you know all the golden walnut locations by memory/are stalking the wiki and go to the Volcano daily, probably a week or two
Read closely I said legend 2 not the legend
The extended family quest for qi walnut room and a bait maker and fish smoker is infinite money lol
1 gold smoked legend 2 is worth 31499 g
Ok this steam overlay thing is really easily ignored throughout the gameplay, but it's really helpful to remember tasks after ending a session
I do recommend it, it's like taking notes of what to do before going to sleep for the day and shit
Now imagine using Challege bait on Legend 2. Now you got 3 iridum Legend 2ās
I try it move erratic make it hard to catch like that and I try 3 time as I ran out of challenge bait but got a single legend 2 from it
Deluxe bait it is, then. Or magnets for treasure
Instead of deluxe use wild bait for chance of double fish
Maybe. I really don't like how much bug meat it costs, though
Ive been told is much easier with Pirate + 2 bobbers + Master Enchantment
Which bobber
Cork
Bring a fishing buff food too, I suppose
Legend 2 catch rate peaks at 36% with targeted bait and curiosity lure. 20% with just curiosity lure. I'm unsure that the targeted bait is actually worth it.
Its not
what about if no curiosity lure
Definitely not worth it then
I went Sturgeoning again today. Winter, this time, with targeted bait.
Legend 2 is easy enough to hopk without targeting bait and curiosity lure ngl
Number of baitx0.16 needs to be >1 to be worth it
The fact that this keeps happening makes me wonder if we're missing something
what's the issue?
⦠was that not the goal?
Yes but estimates put it at much lower than that
Any fishing buffs?
None, base Lv10 fishing. Haven't reached mastery or GI.
Iridium pole, no enchant, trap bobber
I think that's about right then?
While weāre on the topic, how much does targeted bait increase largemouth bass chances in the mountains? (Base is 20%)
Base is a lot more complicated than that
Fish odds are weird
Perhaps target bait also decreases the chance of hooking the other fish along with increasing the chance for the targeted ones
Gotcha. Any relative idea though?
Or is this not possible to calculate?
I made a rough calculator last night. Doesn't fully work for weird fish at the moment but I can check
Oh thatās awesome. Thanks.
Summer in the sun gave us a much, much lower number. Do Perch and Lingcod have really low base bite rates or something?
And there were zero algae
Wait, no algae?
Zero in 26 catches
I mean according to the wiki, the rate increase is 1.66
So for Largemouth bass, it would be 33.2%
That's wild
Wiki is... not wrong but poorly phrased and understood
I mean, considering the results, I wouldnāt say its too wild
Yeah, since I know Sicarious disproved that before, I just ask him lol. Itās more complicated than 1.66 I guess, so I donāt go by that anymore.
Fair enough
So anyway this Sturgeon Bait session was 61.54% Sturgeon. Pity I only have the one smoker, this'll take a while to process...
But yeah my experimental results keep giving me a better showing than the formula as we know it. Maybe other people should try it too and collect more empirical data
Getting zero algae is definitely weird
An AI simulation array for fishing would be pretty fun to study Iād imagine
Lady Luck has done some Looney Tunes bullshit in my general direction before, so yeah I might need to see other people's results too
I find algae and seaweed really hard to find too
Additional clarification: most but not all of those catches were in bubbles. (The bubbles were near shore; pretty sure I ended up short of max effective fishing zone for those two silver Sturgeon catches)
Funny enough, In my 1.6 run, I saved every single one of my Algea and seaweed until like Summer Y2 when I sold it all, and then I checked the raccoons and they wanted algae
Did anyone else figure out if you leave ||cookies sitting out for santa|| on winterstar's eve, ||the next day it'll be replaced with a mystery box?||
Classic Lady Luck moment
Hol up
Like, have a table with cookies displayed?
Now I want to see this, but with coal if it was a bad luck day
yes! I tried it with on my new save and I usually do it as a little tradition, but since 1.6, ||I noticed the next day it was replaced with a mystery box||
Or if you recently obtained doves
That's amazing!
yeah that's what I planned out for but I was also wondering if I could get away with like 5 days by farming the lava snake things with double burglar ring and monster musk
You have mastery? Was it regular or golden?
Well your best bet really is just hoping for lucky volcano seeds where you get Dragon teeth from skeletons. Thats how I got most of mine anyways
which mastery? It happened year one for me
does luck stat affect those
Additionally, make a stingray pond and give them an animal cracker
I had a floor in the volcano with the bone but no teeth
Mastery in foraging. If you didnāt have it and you got a regular mystery box, I wonder if it gives a golden mystery box with mastery? Idk throwing it out there.
Not really
Oh, no I didn't and it was a regular mystery box
Ah thatās awesome though.
Conclusion, qi is santa
that would make too much sense
wait do burglar rings stack
they should
I hear they stack with the monster compendium but not with each other
Should have been:
32.52% Sturgeon
10.44% each Chub, Carp, and Perch
9.64% Largemouth Bass
8.84% Bullhead
8.03% Lingcod
8.03% Green Algae
1.61% River Jelly
No
I stand corrected lol
So yeah I got nearly twice the expected value
Iirc burglar rings work by accessing a 2nd drop table exclusive to the ring
The ring enables the table so wearing two rings would just enable it twice, doing nothing the 2nd time
^
oh
Its a toggle rather than adding drops directly
I promised myself to sleep at a sane hour tonight so I can't carry this convo on. But I wanted to report in that my experimental results keep defying what we know of how targeted bait works.
Which makes me wonder if it's even better than we think it is for Lava Eels
Solution: dont sleep
But that is for other people to look at right now. I'm going to bed.
Gn gigafreak
Jk good night
I am not as young as my farmer. I can't manage it
I just learned that the Burglarās ring gives you. A chance to get two Prismatic Jelly or Ectoplasm which is amusing
Itās guaranteed not just a chance
See you folks later
Even better
Monster compendium allows for 4
thats awesome
⦠Now I kind of wish that Dust sprites werent my last Monster Slaying goal to complete
Shouldve farmed them earlier lol
Sadly there's no way to keep the spare though
samson
his dad isn't even named sam
Do we know anyone's middle names?
Kentson
Thats sprite is adorable though omg
there was a dialogue with kent on my recent feast of the winter star which i skipped too fast but it was smthng like hes just happy his "son is healthy"... maybe i misread it but it looked like singular son to me.. who is sam's dad?
So going off Bladeās vod, if largemouth bass odds were 20%, with targeted bait it becomes 70%. Roughly.
20 x 1.66 = 33.2%
1 - 33.2 = 66.8%
1 - (66.8% cubed) = roughly 70%. I find it hard to believe it would be that dramatic.
Adventurerās guild
or is vincent not kent's son...
vincent remembers kent as a baby, so he is
This theory seems more believable since Vince has red hair and the rest of his family doesn't BUT we can assume someone in their family has it
Should go from roughly 20% to 50%
red hair is a recessive trait
There are versions you can keep them on actually but thatās a lot of effort
The mobile patch rn can keep them which is nice
Gotcha. Alright then, Iāll take your word on it. Might change some Spring day 4 ideas for minmaxing.
Thanks Sicarious.
Might be useful for your challenge sicarious
Are wild seeds still good for foraging XP?
Kinda bad
Only 2 per
Best now is probably mushroom logs or just using the desert fest to buy forage xp books
They get lost on update though
Mushroom logs?
they give 2 foraging, 2 farming xp now
Yeah, I had a spare prismatic jelly on my old save
3 farming no?
either way, it's nice for getting farming 6 a bit faster
I have a 1.5.6 save with a spare
Iāll see if it exists in 1.6
getting a quest from sebastian is such a pain in the ass
What the chance of getting the extended family quest 3 time in a row
I have a like 40 second window between him leaving his room and going back into it to turn this stupid ass quest in
also what the heck sebastian don't sleep for 12 hours a day
broke stardew zoom
@tough remnant I can confirm 1.6 jelly exists
and the invisible artisan goods are still in 1.6.3
invisible artisan goods?
yeah now the artisan good colour for some stuff is based on the processed good
and if you have "pickles" or "jelly", etc.
it's just completely invisible
ones that have no good
like wine from soef or stuff from the cart
the little interlude cave inside the entrance to skull cavern persists between desert fes and normal skull cavern right
Non specific jelly and pickles. I have one jar of normal pickles from travelling cart
Where do I get raisins from ?
dehydrate grapes
Ooooh thanks !
5 grapes for raisins
yes, that's the normal one, my usual chests were there
neat ty
the luck rings? yes
Unbelievable. I can't wait to combine them
Who needs defense or magnetism or whatever. Four luck rings/
can't combine two rings of the same type but you can wear two rings that both used the same ring in their combination
Oh that's right. Sad
most people just use iridium band + luck ring
Maximum of +2 rings with luck
two iridium bands + luck rings I think is the standard walk-around equips, yeah.
Yeah I've got those too
Most have some stored rings in a chest for other uses, like iridium band + burglar ring.
Wine is pretty nifty because wine still has the actual icon
But also has the drop shadow of the invisible items
harvey coming in clutch
i had to sell my diamonds because i did bad math and was short cash for vault bundle
but damn I want his furniture
how does luck/daily luck work in multiplayer
do all calculations just take the average of every player
A lot of the time yes, although daily luck is mostly shared between players
The averaging is just because of special charm
š
I just noticed but the shipment page of the wiki hasnt been updated yet
mfw i'm resorting to eating a stack of 100+ algae for my SC run
what time does the desert fes even close
I think it's all day?
So guise, which mastery should I grab first? Farming? Fishing?
farming
I'd say farming personally because I like the mermaid statue it gives and the iridium scythe makes harvesting huge fields SO easy. But fishing gives challenger bait which gives you 3 FISH if perfect
iridium scythe's quality of life is way too high to pass up
I was more thinking about the animal crackers. I'm beach farm and only have the small area that sprinklers work in with normal crops, then the greenhouse full of mostly coffee, ancient fruit and hot peppers with random things throughout (just planting random off-season things I have in order to keep a full fridge in case I want to cook something in particular, etc.
animal crackers are good too
basically everything in farming mastery is top tier
but scythe's just seriously way too convenient lmao
removes a lot of the tediousness from farming
Just an option to harvest quickly and nothing else tho?
have you started farming in ginger island yet
if someone and i are dating, and i get engaged to someone else will it end the first relationship
I have Qi's Cuisine task going, and I have the espresso to ship, but will additional "Fresh" cooked stuff revert to normal after the task finishes?
I just wasnāt sure they hadnāt been patched in the newest version
hmm... meowmere is funny, but is it worth forging my infinity blade into meowmere appearance
It looks kinda odd as a weapon, bit wide proportionally which puts me off of it (also I just donāt use swords in general)
it was either gonna be that or neptune's glaive which i've never done but definitely looks more standard
will i lose friendship points for offering bouquet too early
yes
they'll just go back to "single" but still have the boquet icon
I like the Neptune glaive look ngl
That and holy blade look awesome IMO. Maybe ossified blade.
Wish there were better looking hammers. The recent 1.6 additions add some flavor though.
Harveyās Mallet or Samās Old Guitar look cool.
Yeah a frying pan is valid
Imo I usually run a slammer or dragontooth hammer look
Or those weapons in general, slammer is honestly good enough for almost everything
Those are pretty cool. Ever run a dagger? Elliottās pencil is a damn near lock if I do moving forward.
Agreed
Yeah I usually main dagger with hammer side lategame
Yeah Iāve seen people do it. I never have. I should.
Imo dragontooth shiv is best dagger for looks and even how good it is when you get it
Trident is pretty awesome too
All the others are mid, idk if itās me but I donāt like the iridium needle or infinty dagger look
Yeah trident and dragon tooth.
Nah, you should do whatever you like most tbh, Iām one of a few that mains dagger and itās mostly just to say I do
I am maining dragontooth shiv on mobile rn and it kills basically everything just as well as a needle would
While being accessible midgame sttaight off of the bat (ofc at 1/27 rate or smt)
Oh really? I thought it was an optimal strat? Hammer for special, needle for stragglers.
Finished all masteries, is that hat thing that appeared in the cave just deco or can I grab it somehow?
deco
boo. thanks I mean
Eh so-so
Usually not bothering with when just maining hammer is fine
Itās only really for some things where you really want to squeeze the most out of the time you have or make builds to kill specific monsters
Like stairless runs or ghost geode farming
but nobody does stairless so the only use case is ghost geode farming
P much or for hardmode sc serpents
As they bundle up and are really ez with dagger
do I still need qi seasoned seafoam pudding to get the iridium krobus statue?
I've lost track of what 1.6 has added
you didnt need it in 1.5 with the master enchantment
Nah
You can use master enchant or a desert buff
Didnāt even need it 1.5
ah okay. Thanks
Omg not me looking for the prismatic butterfly, only to get a shard from a slime in the secret woods lmao
Never did find the butterfly
i never find the butterfly
It canāt be too many places
I added locations to the wiki page a couple weeks back
Itās only like 7 maps or smt
I checked every location, I couldn't find it sadly š
The only time I ever found the butterfly was when it spawned at the bus stop on a Skull cavern day
hell yeah finally got foraging to level 10 now im finally going to find out whats in that cave
btw I was wondering
do you need to complete the raccoon quest individually while you are on multiplayer to get the achievement ?
ok wait so does all xp go towards mastery or what
after you have maxed out all skill, yes
and can i eventually get all masteries or do i have to make a choice
you will eventually get all masteries
okay sick
Whatās the value in geode farming SC? I know magma geodes. I didnāt realize you could geode farm SC for monetary value. Or is it for something else?
You farm geodes to get stuff to donate to the museum.
Cause you cam trade omni geodes for artifact troves.

For artifacts and minerals generally. Though there are ways to squeeze a fair bit of cash out of omni geodes
btw
do animals path to any grass that existing on the farm that they can access?
or only grass thats near the coop/barn?
They can path to grass like 16 unobstructed blocks away or smtn from what Ive seen
I see
also if I delay planting strawberry seeds to the 15th
will I still get two harvests?
wanna spent the 14th/15th mining for ore so I can make sprinklers
so that way I dont have to water them
i thought you get one less harvest if you don't plant them on fest day
Yes and no
If you have a speed boost you need to plant them on the fest day to get the extra harvest.
if you use some sort of speed gro and are trying to get three harvests you must put them in on festival day
otherwise you'll easily fit in the two harvests you would normally get
Yes
ty
it should, 8 + 4 right?
I mean
it doesnt count the day you plant it
so like
15 + 9 = 24 + 4 = 28
I just wanted to confirm
growth time is 8 days, not counting the day you plant. so 15 + 8 = 23, 23 + 4 = 27.
either way you are ok
š
Gotcha. Thanks FG.
When it comes to Qi's Prismatic Grange, it's always the red colour I struggle with. what do other people use?

bait maker is so good
