i hate to be critical since i love this game so dearly, but it feels very New Shiny Wowie Take this stuff we didnt want to fit into one of the other places in the game
like if they didnt have hoppers until now, they would've been given from mastery. but they already exist

and also while getting mastery points you kinda get into the spirit of like putting more thought into getting more xp, but then after doing the hardest stretch of getting lots of xp (which btw, if you are saving the worst for last, you are literally putting in the most effort for the least reward), xp suddenly doesn't matter anymore and never will again
