But yeah, the edges and corners of the mushroom farm operate far less efficiently than the centre.

But as your farm grows larger, corners stay the same and edges grow linearly, but area grows quadratically.

Yeah, that's what causes the issue. They only count trees within 3 tiles of them in each direction (a 7x7 square centred on the log), so any mushroom logs within 3 tiles of the edge of your farm have substantially reduced efficiency

Like, if you have a 10x10 grid of logs, of those 100, 4 will be corners, 32 of those will be edge, and 64 will be centre. 64% of your logs are operating at high efficiency.

Double those dimensions to 20x20 and now of those 400 logs you still have 4 corner logs, but only 72 edge logs, and 324 centre logs. 81% of your logs are operating at high efficiency.
