so my maths is

There's news regarding that. To summarize everything we know:

Google claims that scammers often bait unsuspecting users into installing malicious APK files. To combat this, new versions of Andriod (starting with Android 17) will have a so called "Advanced Flow". You need to enable developer options, reboot the device, wait 24 hours and then authenticate again with your device unlock method before you can either enable sideloading permanently or for 7 days only.
Your decision will be saved to your Google account, so there is no need to set it up a second time when switching to a new phone. Developer options don't need to remain enabled. ADB sideloading is independent and won't be restricted.

The AVIF lossless algorithm is pretty bad. But you can set an EXIF flag.
